Chapter 58: The Scorpion's Curse

Hunter was carried into the was placed on the couch at a comfortable position. Luz, Willow and Eda were currently tending him. Willow was wiping the blood off his mouth with a cloth. He was breathing heavily as he was struggling to breath.
Luz: Hunter.
Hunter: ( panting heavily) Luz...I..I can't...I can't breathe.
Willow: Just keep looking at us. We're right here.
Lilith: Take one of these.
Lilith gives him a little tablet reminicent of an aspiren.
Lilith: Chew it slowly.
Eda: Just hang on kid. Help is coming. Just hold on.
But he began to cough. He took the cloth as he coughed more blood into. He held his chest and screamed in agony. Luz and Eda tried to to calm him down. The others not wanting to crowd him kept their distance but were all worried for him, Christa especially. She stood there with her hand covering her mouth and tears forming in her eyes. She knew about his pains but never saw him in this horrible state. Flapjack stood by Hunter and chirped in concern for him.
Hunter: Flap...
Hunter held his chest and screamed again.
Luz: Hunter, Hunter just hold on. Eda.
Eda: Matti is coming. She's fast as...
The door opens and Alice enters.
Amity: Aunt Alice?
Alice: Eda I need to...Hunter?!
Alice runs inside and kneels down to him.
Alice: What happened?
Eda: It's his curse. It's getting to him.
Luz: Curse?
Christa: What curse?
Just before Eda could answer, Matti comes in. She wastes no time and hurries down to him. She places her hands on his chest as her hands glow and seems to to subdue his pain. Hunter stopped yelling but still struggled to breathe.
Alice: Did you do it?
Matti: I'm currently subduing his chest pains and keeping the parasite from hatching.
Christa: Parasite?
Luz: Eda, what's this about? You said all of this is a result of a curse. What kind of curse is this?
Shadam: A curse that I placed on him.
Everyone turns around see's Shadam in his cloak.
Eda: Shadam.
Eda formed her arm into her harpy arm and tried to grab him, but she ended up going right through him.
Shadam: You cannot touch. I am only speaking to you through my magic. Ah, I see you have the Golden Guard. It seem's the Scorpion's Curse is finally about to take it's toll.
Luz: What did you do to him.
Shadam: You were there Luz. The Scorpion's Curse I placed on him is a deadly spell. I implanted an egg inside him. All the pains he's been suffering was a result of it growing. But now it's at it's hatching state. At midnight tonight, it will hatch out of his chest and he will die.
Shadam chuckled evilly as the other gasped.
Christa: How could you have done this to him?
Shadam: He was never my target. You were Christa.
Christa gasped and remembered. When he used the curse, he was supposed to do it on her but Hunter took the shot for her.
Christa: ( whispers) No.
Alice: You cursed him. Now lift it off of him!
Shadam: Easy now Ms. Blight. I know we don't have much time and the scorpion will be hatching soon. I will be there very soon and I will lift it. In exchange you will turn him in to me to face trial for deserting our Emperor.
Alice: How is that fair?
Shadam: Have him ready for me or else.
Shadam's hologram disappeared leaving everyone alone in the house. Hunter continued having trouble breathing as Christa kneeled down with him.
Christa: Hunter don't die on me. I'm sorry.
Luz: Eda, we're not going to turn him in are we.
Eda: Of course not. Matti can't you lift it yourself.
Matti: I'm sorry I don't know the technique. I barely figured out what this was.
Willow: So then what can we do then?
Alex: Hey there's a bunch of us and one of him right. We can take him.
Gus: You want us to fight him?
Lilith: You can't fight Shadam. I've seen him in missions, he's not to be taken for granted.
Alex: Well unless anyone's got a better idea right now, Hunter's gone for.
Christa: No, Alex is right. We have to face him head on.
Luz: Christa.
Christa: He got cursed because of me. It's my fault this is happening to him.
Eda: ( holds her shoulders) Hey Chrissy. Don't blame this on yourself. You did nothing wrong. But I think fightings all we got. We'll get him to lift it.
30 minutes.
Everyone was outside waiting for Shadam while Matti stayed inside with Hunter. Everyone stood there, tensed and anxious for Shadam to come as Hooty had the house on lockdown to keep Hunter safe. But soon they saw Shadam in his robes coming from the dark woods.
Shadam: Good evening. Do you have the Golden Guard?
Alice: Lift the curse off him now.
Shadam: Hand him over to me first.
Luz: We're not turning him in.
Shadam: You really want to fight about this? You do know he doesn't have much time. Beside, you don't stand a chance against me.
Eda: Here's the deal. You lift the curse now and maybe we'll go easy on you.
Eda and Lilith transform into their harpy forms.
Shadam: Edalyn Clawthorne that's a good look for you. And Lilith, I see you have that form as well. Selene told me how you gave her a hard time last time you two met. But all this is a result of your curse. But I know how to lift it. Turn him into me and I will lift your curse.
Harpy Eda: How stupid do you think I am. Do you think I'm that low to sell out someone.
Shadam: What about you Lilith? Why do you care what happens to him? You never liked him.
Harpy Lilith: You're lying. Belos never knew how to heal my sister so how can you? And how I felt for Hunter was before I realized what he was going through. Belos used him like he used me and how he's using you now.
Shadam: Nonsense.
Luz: No. Belos has been lying to you. He's a witch hunter.
Shadam: Silence!
Shadam fires a magic projectile at Luz. Amity defends her by forming a ball of abomination goo to catch it and cancel the attack..
Shadam: How dare you speak that way to our Emperor. You have been nothing but trouble to me, my comrades and to Belos. This is your final warning. Give him to me now or all of you die here!
Alex: Yeah, you and what army Slaghead?
Just after Alex saying that, about twenty Dorodoros appear behind Shadam.
Gus: Did you seriously have to ask?
Alex: I can't help myself.
Shadam: Attack!
The Dorodoros charge at the group.
Harpy Eda: Remember, nobody gets in!
Eda shrieked and punched one of the Dorodoros to the ground as she, Lilith and Alice fought through them towards Shadam.
While they did so the others fought the Dorodoro army. Luz and Amity stayed together as they took on a group. Luz took down three of them with an ice glyph. One appeared behind her and was about to stab her with his dagger, but then was caught in a ball of abomination goo by Amity
Amity: No one touches my Luz!
Luz: Trust her, you do not want to get on her bad side.
Then the two saw a three Dorodoros charging at them.
Amity: Shall we Batata?
Amity forms an abomination fist and Luz places a fire glyph on it.
Luz: Fire away Ami!
Amity fires away as the scene cuts to King and Christa fighting together. Christa took out some with her fire magic and water and King also taking some out with a sonic yell. We see three Dorodoros trying to penetrate the house, but then Hooty appears.
Hooty: Hey there! I wasn't expecting company.
One them tries to stab Hooty but dodges easily and head butts the first.
Hooty: I'd let you in for some tea and tell you my stories but tonights not a good time.
The second tried to stab him but then he dodged and wrapped himself around the second and third.
Hooty: Hey that was very rude. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave.
Hooty then throws them away from the house.
We cut inside the house with Matti holding onto Hunter. She looked at the door as she can feel the vibration of the fight outside. She heard Hunter groan. He slowly opened his eyes and held his chest as he got up as Matti gently placed him back down.
Matti: Stay down.
Hunter: They need me. I have to go.
Matti: You're in no condition to fight. Stay still while I can stabilize the pain. ( looks back) Guys hurry.
We cut back outside as the others continue fighting the Dorodoros. Alex was knocked down as a Dorodoro lunged down and stabbed him, however he turned out to be an illusion made Gus. Some of them tried to attack Gus but all they kept finding illusions of him. One of them felt a tap on the shoulder and turned around and saw Alex.
Alex: Hey how you doing?
Alex then punches him across the face knocking him out. A few came more at him as he punched the ground as stone pillars sent the few flying up. But the two were still outnumbered by a large group. But then a mountain of vines appeared, formed by Willow as she yelled out and attacked the remaining group with vines, sending one of them flying at Alex as he ducks and the Dorodoro is flown into a tree.
Alex: ( amazed) What a witch.
We then see Shadam just standing there watching the fight until Eda, Lilith and Alice finally made it through and confronted him.
Shadam: Are you that suicidal that you wish to fight me? Ms. Blight you shouldn't be here. You're associating with these wild witches?
Alice: They've done nothing wrong.
Shadam: The Owl Lady is a notorious criminal, Lilith and the Golden Guard are traitors. And now you're friends with them? I think Emperor Belos should hear this.
Alice: Don't act like you're innocent. You're killing this boy. Wasn't he your friend?
Shadam: Friends with that brat? Ha, not even if he was the last witch of this world.
Harpy Eda: We're not here to have you make friends. You're going to remove that curse off Hunter or we're going to make you to.
Shadam: Is this the part where I'm supposed to be threatened?
Harpy Eda: No, this is.
Eda shrieks and tries to attack Shadam, to which he dodges by simply sidestepping aside.
Shadam: Too slow.
Eda tries to claw him but he grabs her arm.
Shadam: Sloppy.
Shadam forms his wrist blade about to slash her. Lilith tried to attack her from behind, but then Shadam used his wrist blade on her, cutting her head off as it rolls on the floor and body collapses.
Harpy Eda: Lily!
Alice: No!
We cut to Lilith's head, looking like she was dead until she still showed signs of life.
Harpy Lilith: Ow! Oh what the...ow!
Alice: You're alive? But how?
Harpy Eda: Ha, that's the side effects of our curse. You can't die like that Lily.
Harpy Lilith: No but it still hurts.
Shadam looked behind him and saw Lilith's body moving and looking for her head.
Shadam: Very interesting, but lets see if you still live if I disintegrate you.
Shadam formed purple flames on his hands about to burn Lilith's head, until Alice forming some abomination goo launched it at Shadam and is caught in the goop. Alice transforms into her abomination form and forms her two hands into scythes. She comes at Shadam, but then he breaks free and blocks the attack with his wrist blade. She keeps on attacking him as he kept blocking. Shadam jumps back and fires his eye beams at Alice. It pierces through her shoulder, but doesn't seem to hurt her in her state. She kept going as the two continued to fight.
We then cut to Eda trying to put Lilith's head back on.
Harpy Lilith: Come on, come on!
Harpy Eda: Hold still.
Eda places her head back on.
Harpy Eda: There you go. Come on, we got to help.
Harpy Lilith: Yes lets...huh?
Lilith then realizes Eda put her head on backwards.
Harpy Lilith: Oh you are so cheeky.
Lilith rearranges her head and goes over to help.
We cut to Shadam still fighting Alice. He kicks her across the head as she falls to the ground. He slowly approaches her but he doesn't notice her hands were in the ground. The ground shook and two long abomination arms emerged out of the ground both being maces. Alice struck her arms down at him. Thinking she got him, the smoke cleared up and shows Shadam with his robes torn up.
Shadam: I had no idea you were this skilled Ms. Blight.
Alice: My boyfriend is Head Witch of the Abomination Coven.
Shadam tears off his torn robes now showing his face and heavily armored body.
Shadam: But let's try this without anything to slow me down.
Shadam formed his hands and formed more purple fire, but then Lilith came at him from behind and kicked the back of his leg. Shadam grunts as he falls to his knee. Eda comes at him and punches him across the face. She punches him again as he falls onto his back. She's about to do it once more until he fires his eye beam at her. Eda is hit by the blast and falls back. Shadam turns around and eye beams Lilith off of him.
He gets back up and aims his hand at Eda. Lilith swoops down at him from the air striking the back of his head. Shadam looks up and tries to eye beam her, but keeps missing. He then catches Alice coming at him with her abomination scythe hand and blocks her attack. Lilith swoops down at him again, but then he gets out of the way as she ends up flying into Alice. Shadam formed his hands together and fired his purple fire at the ground, trapping the two in a ring of fire and sets his attention back to Eda.
Shadam: Now, I guess I'll have to deliver you to Emperor Belos in pieces.
Shadam rose his wrist blade at her, but then Eda opened up her eyes and slashed across Shadam's face. Shadam grunts as he covered his face, stepping back. Eda got back up as Lilith got Alice out of the ring of fire by holding onto her, flying out and joining back with Eda. Shadam took his hand off his face and saw blood on his hand as Eda left a few scratch marks on his right eye.
Shadam: Damn you!
Harpy Eda: You give up now?
Shadam: Don't be foolish!
Shadam then felt a blast hit him on his back. He turns around and see's Luz and the others had taken care of the Dorodoros and now focusing on him.
Shadam: Stay out of this you miserable brats.
Christa: You're not getting them or Hunter.
Christa yells out and forms wind blowing at him. Shadam is blown away but then strikes his blade into the ground to keep him flying any further. Luz places an ice glyph on the ground as ice spikes come at him. He's nearly hit in the face but backs away as Luz and Christa then uses fire magic on him to attack. He blocks the attack and runs at the two. King came up next and let out a sonic wave at him. Shadam cancels the attack by slashing across the wave and fires his eye beam at the three.
A stone pillar appears and protects the three and another is formed coming at Shadam. He destroys that pillar coming at him as Alex is seen running at him with his stone fists. He punches Shadam at his face. He tries to punch him again, but Shadam grabs his fist and throws him away. But he's saved by Willow who formed a large flower for him to gently land in.
Alex: ( thumbs up) Phew, thanks Sprouts.
Willow nods to him as she forms more vines and attacks Shadam. The ground shakes and a large flower like venus fly trap appears and eats Shadam. But he didn't stay in there for long as it bursts into purple flames, breaking free and slashes Willow, but she vanished as she turned out to be an illusion made by Gus.
Gus: Hey Shadam. I'm over here.
Gus is seen flying around him. Shadam slashes Gus, but he turned out to be an illusion. But then more illusions of Gus appeared flying around him as Shadam kept trying to hit the real Gus only to be an illusion.
Gus Illusion 1: Over here Shadam.
Gus Illusion 2: Wrong one.
Gus Illusion 3: Missed me.
Shadam growled as he kept attacking. He attacked the last illusion and saw Amity rushing at him in a wave of abomination goo. She threw a abomination spear at him as he blocked the attack. Shadam came at Amity and tried to slash her. She kept blocking his attacks, until she jumped back and threw a ball of goo at his face. Shadam stops what he's doing as he tries to clear his face but then she forms more goo to constrict him, then she forms goo in a form of a bow and arrow. Shadam is hit by the attack, forcing him back. He fires his eye beam at Amity, near her feet as the impact flies her off and on the ground.
Shadam runs at her about to impale her until Luz guarded her and shined a light glyph at him. Shadam is momentarily blinded by the light and King uses another sonic wave at him, sending him flying into a tree and Christa forming a wave of water at him. He's caught in the wave and is then frozen with only his head still untouched. He stuck there as the others regroup.
Shadam: ( silent chuckles) I have to say I'm impressed. You kids are quite capable fighters and very skilled with your magic at such a young age. I still can't believe one of you actually put Satarakura in a catatonic state.
Gus's facial reaction reacts with a slight surprised look.
Shadam: You lasted quite long, but I'm through playing games.
Shadam is able to move his hands as purple fire erupts blowing the ice off him. He yells out as he raised his wrist blade, but then Christa yells out and fires lightning at his blade, electricuting him. Shadam being paralyzed, Luz, Christa and Willow used the moment and formed vines to keep him down, on his arms, neck and body. Shadam is tied down to the ground as everyone approaches in caution.
Harpy Eda: Nice job kids.
Shadam struggled to break free, but couldn't. His hands began to ignite fire but then they were covered by abomination goo to put them out.
Luz: Shadam, there's no way out for you.
Shadam: No, I refuse to lose here. I refuse.
Alice: Quit your denial. It's over.
Harpy Eda: Now if you don't want us to make things worse for you, lift the curse off Hunter and get lost.
Shadam: No...no...I refuse...
But then sparks start forming around him as everyone was slowly stepping back.
King: Uh, what is he doing?
Shadam: I refuse...
His eyes open up, now red.
Shadam: I refuse to yield to you wild witches!
Harpy Lilith: Everyone get back!
Everyone did so as Shadam let out a purple energy wave. Everyone was pushed back and to their shock they saw Shadam was back up, but he looked a bit different. He stood their tensed up as electricity formed around him and his eyes were glowing red.
Harpy Lilith: No... not this.
Luz: What? What is he doing?
Harpy Lilith: His rage state. I've only seen him do this once when we were on a mission with a group of scouts. Shadam was born with abnormally strong power. One that he tends not to use and everyone fears because of how uncontrollable it is.
Shadam was slowly walking to the group and was hunched down, he was breathing hard in a stressful way.
Shadam: I...can't hold it...I refuse...to lose...like this!
Shadam yelled out as he fired a powerful purple beam from his hands, aimlessly. The blast took out a row of trees to everyone's shock.
Christa: He...those trees.
Amity: That's not normal right there.
Harpy Eda: Lily you know how this guy fights, how do we stop him.
Harpy Lilith: Normally Selene would give him an elixir to calm him down, but without that he's just letting off steam in a destructive way.
Alice: So you're saying we can't do anything about him?
Shadam yelled out as he sets his attention to the Owl House. He fire the beam at the house.
Harpy Lilith: Hootsifer look out!
Hooty panicked seeing the attack coming towards him. Even with the lockdown defenses, the right side of the house got blown off, though Hooty himself appeared to be fine.
Hooty: Ow! Oh hoot that's going to leave a mark! Hoot!
Harpy Eda: The house!
Alex: Don't worry I can fix it.
Christa: Matti and Hunter are still in there!
Alex: Uh oh.
Shadam was slowly making his way to the house. Eda growled and flew at him.
Harpy Lilith: Eda no! He'll kill you for sure.
Harpy Eda: I'm not letting him get him or Matti!
Eda roared as she rammed into Shadam. She tried to claw his face, but then he grabbed her arm and punched her in the stomach.
Luz: Eda!
Shadam: Fool! Don't get in my way!
Shadam strangled Eda with one hand and rose his blade hand. Lilith came and grabbed Shadam's arm and pulled him back. Shadam threw Eda at Lilith to get her off. The two were on the floor as Luz came in and used a fire and plant glyph combo on him. Vines shot out and wrapped Keizer and then it ignited and explodes. Shadam was unfazed and ran at Luz who then hits her across the head. Luz was on the ground as Shadam stomped on her head as she screamed in agony.
Shadam: There's no way I will die at the hands of a human. I'll kill you right here and now.
Shadam was about to crush Luz's head until Amity came at him and formed a fire glyph with her abomination goo and shot Shadam off of her. Shadam backed up a little as Amity helped her up.
Amity: Easy I got you.
Luz: Thanks.
Everyone stood together ready to continue to fight.
Shadam: You always have to make things harder for me. Fine! If you're all so eager to die, I'll be more than happy to send you all to Hell!
We then cut to the inside of the damaged house. Debris was all over the place. Hunter opened his eyes, he sat up a little but held his chest as he grunts in pain.
Hunter: Flapjack. Flapjack where are you?
Flapjack emerged out of the debris and chirped.
Hunter: Yeah, I'm alright for now.
He looked over and saw Matti, who looked hurt and her lower body was trapped in rubble and debris. She looked over at him and smiled.
Matti: Good, your okay.
Hunter: Matti. Hold on, I'll get you out.
Hunter tried to move some of the debris off her, but then he grunts and falls to his knees.
Matti: No, you need to stay down.
Hunter: But you're hurt.
Matti: Don't worry about me. Just go hide. Save yourself.
Hunter looked out and saw his friends fighting Shadam. But they stood no chance against him. Shadam was deflecting and cancelling attacks from Luz, Christa and King as he waved a large blade wave at the three. Eda and Lilith both tried to take him on hand to hand, but he blocked each of their moves.
Shadam: ( blocking) The two of you may be strong with your new forms but you still lack real magic.
Shadam jumped up and elbows Lilith on the back of her neck putting her down. Eda tried to punch him, but he blocked the attack and grabbed her head and eye beamed her, Eda screeches in pain as Shadam drops her. Willow formed a mountain of vines to stand on and had them attack Shadam, but he shot the beam at the incoming vines and at her mountain of vines, setting it all on fire. Willow is also hit falls to the ground. Shadam was about to impale her until Alex came in to defend her. He threw many punches at him to which Shadam blocked. He grabbed Alex's fist and punches him in the stomach and kicks him across the head. Alex was knocked to the ground as Gus tried to confuse him by setting the whole area in the illusion of a black void. Trying to confuse Shadam and using some glyphs to attack him.
Shadam: What a waste of power!
Shadam's body formed more electricity and formed a large energy wave around the whole area, breaking the illusion and Gus also getting hit and paralyzed by the attack. Amity tried to stop him next, forming a large abomination to engulf him in and then she formed a ice glyph to make numerous ice spikes to imaple him. Although it went through the abomination blew up as Shadam rushed at Amity. She was caught off guard and knee kicked her and slams his fist down her head. Amity fell down and before Shadam could impale her, Alice blocked his attack with her scythe hand.
Alice: Stay away from her.
Alice attacked next using a purple projectile attack and pushed him off.
Alice: Are you proud of what your doing? These are children you're trying to kill.
Shadam: It does not matter. Anyone who is an enemy of the Emperor must pay with their blood.
Alice: You're just like her. People like you disgust me.
Alice and Shadam continued to fight. Though Alice held her own for a bit. Shadam grabbed her by her head as the electricity around his body began to electrocute her head, the weak spot, forcing Alice to lose concentration and turn back to her normal form. His eyes began to glow and eye beamed her and dropped her.
Amity: Aunt Alice...
Amity crawled to her and took her hand. She looked at Alice who laid their hurt.
Shadam looked around and saw everyone was on the ground, exhausted and no longer able to fight. He began to breath heavily again in stress and grunts.
Shadam: Hmph, what a waste. Ten of you and not one of you can defeat me. If you can't defeat me then you stand no chance against Emperor Belos. Now then.
Shadam motions to Hunter in the house.
Shadam: It's time to go Golden Guard.
But then Christa blocked his way.
Luz: Christa.
Hunter: Red...no...
Christa: ( panting) You're not... getting to him.
Shadam just stared right at her. He looked over at Luz, then at Hunter and now her.
Shadam: Those two are down and out. But you still stand. Then it's you.
Christa: What?
Shadam: Last time we met you used that power on me. Show me it.
Christa gives him a serious look and formed air and fire on each of her hands. She brought them together and formed a fire tornado coming at Shadam. He's caught in it, but used blade to stay on the ground. Once it passes, he's shown to be unharmed, but the face was slightly singed.
Shadam: I said your real power.
Christa yells out and forms vines on one hand and constricts Shadam. She placed her other hand on the floor forming ice spikes and tried to throw Shadam onto the spikes. Shadam broke free and landed on the ground. He yelled charging at her and Christa uses her lightning attack on him. However Shadam was no longer effected by it in his rage state. Once he got close he punched Christa in the stomach, quite hard. Christa fell to her knees and held her stomach gasping for hair.
Shadam: That's it? That's all you can do?
Shadam grabbed her by her hair and lifted her up. Christa screamed out as he pulled her hair up, lifting her up to his face.
Shadam: I've seen what you can do. Was that one night at Latissa just a fluke? Are you nothing more than an amateur witch who has uncontrollable power?
Shadam drops and knee kicks Christa. She fell to the ground as she coughed up a little blood. Shadam grabbed her by her neck and lifted her up strangling her.
Luz: Stop it!
Luz tried to get up but was too weak. Everyone was and didn't have the strength to help. But Eda used the last bit of her strength to get up.
Shadam: You're like me aren't you. I too was born with power that I today still cannot properly control. This is not something I like to use.
Eda shrieked and punched him in the face, making him drop Christa on the ground.. She clawed his face but doing so allowed him to grab her arm. Eda bit down on his arm to break free but he didn't seemed fazed.
Shadam: Stay down!
Shadam eye beams Eda off of her. Eda is hit and falls back in the ground.
Christa: Eda!
Shadam kicks Christa on the ground.
Shadam: So where is that now? What is it that makes you different from the rest of us?
Christa couldn't speak as she kept gasping and looked up at him all beat up.
Hunter kept watching and couldn't allow this go on slowly got up as Flapjack turned into his staff to help support him up.
Hunter: This has gone far enough.
Matti: No wait.
Matti tried to stop him but he teleports away.
Shadam grabbed Christa by her neck again.
Shadam: Belos made it clear he wants you. I think I'll take you back also, so we can find out exactly what you are.
Hunter: Shadam! Drop her.
He looked over and saw Hunter barely supporting himself and holding his chest.
Chritsa: Hunter.
Shadam drops Christa and slowly approaches Hunter.
Shadam: Are you ready to surrender and face the consequences boy?
Hunter: I'm never going back.
Hunter then picks up one of the Dorodoro's daggers that was on the floor.
Shadam: ( scoffs) Is that supposed to kill me.
Hunter: No...me.
Hunter points the blade at his chest.
Luz: Hunter. What are you doing?
Hunter: New deal Shadam. You kill any of them, you lose me.
Shadam: Please, you wouldn't kill yourself.
Hunter slowly brings the blade to his chest and gives a slight jab into it, making him bleed.
Christa: Hunter no.
Luz: Don't!
Willow: Stop!
Shadam: Stop it! You fool!
Hunter: Belos wants me back alive and if you return without me, you'll be in trouble. And you know it, don't you? So what's it going to be?
Shadam glared at him and approached Hunter. Hunter grunts again and drops the dagger. Hunter coughed more blood and screamed from his chest pain again. Shadam knew there was not much time and couldn't take the chance. He rose hand up as everyone was worried of what he was going to do. On his finger tip were small blue flames on it.
Shadam: With the curse that is placed. Let it be erased!
Shadam slamed his hand on Hunter's chest. Hunter grunts and falls onto his back. Everyone was concerned of what Shadam did. Hunter held his chest, but felt something different. The chest pains he's been feeling were gone and he was able to breathe normal again. Shadam approached Hunter and looked down at him.
Hunter: You...you lifted the curse.
Shadam yelled out and hits Hunter across the head. Hunter quickly got back up with his staff in hand.
Shadam: I promised Emperor Belos I take you in alive. I promised him I would not kill you. But I will enjoy beating you.
Shadam eye beams Hunter but he avoids it by teleporting. Hunter appears above him and fires numerous projectiles at him. Shadam deflects the attacks as Hunter teleports and appears next to him to attack. Shadam blocks the attack as Hunter keeps teleporting around him. Until eventually Shadam saw where he was coming next and kick Hunter the moment he appears. Hunter falls to the ground with his staff right next to him. Before he can take his staff back, Shadam grabs his leg and throws him away from it.
Shadam: You really think you can beat me. You don't even have magic. Without your staff you're nothing.
As Shadam approaches Hunter, he secretly took out a fire glyph.
Hunter: You're right, I don't have real magic, that's why I've been taking lessons.
Hunter waves the fire glyph at Shadam's face. Shadam grunts from the flames that burns his face and jumps back.
Shadam: You damn brat!
Shadam waves his wrist blade at him as Hunter barely dodges. Shadam appears behind him and elbows his head. Hunter falls down as Shadam grabs him by his neck strangles Hunter.
Shadam: Look at you boy. The once great Golden Guard, Belos's right hand and once leader of the Emperor's Coven now reduced to a nobody.
Hunter: ( gasping) That's not what they said.
Shadam knee kicks Hunter in the stomach.
Shadam: Them? Ha, you don't have any friends.
Luz: That's a lie.
Shadam looks over and see's Luz and the Hexsquad standing.
Shadam: Are you really trying to defend him Luz the human? Do you even know what he is? Any of you? He works for the most powerful and feared witch in the isles. I know what he's done. He's stolen palisman, he took your key at Eclipse Lake and don't think I don't know what he did when he pretened to play your little sport game. He's nothing but a liar and a thief who will take whatever he wants to get to the top. So why do you defend him? He's not even a real witch.
Hunter: You...you knew?
Luz: What he did before was wrong, but he was forced to work for that monster. What you describe him, he's not that anymore. He's our friend.
Willow: Our Flyer Derby teammate.
Amity: My cousin.
Gus: Our soon to be classmate
Alex: My new pal.
Harpy Eda: A weirdo.
Christa: And my...my boyfriend.
Luz: He's our friend now and you're not going to hurt him.
Hunter: ( pants and tear falls from his eye) G-Guys...
Shadam growled and then saw Flapjack flying to Hunter. Shadam swiftly grabs Flapjack with his free hand.
Hunter: Flapjack!
Shadam: What this? Have you been secretly keeping a palisman. You know all scouts must surrender their palisman when joining.
Flapjack chirped to break free as the others were about to attack him.
Shadam: Take another step and the palisman dies!
They stopped where they were not wanting to hurt either one. Shadam drops Hunter.
Hunter: Shadam. You can do what you want with me but please don't hurt Flapjack or anyone.
Shadam: You seem to have grown attached to this palisman. You know I too was once attached. I had a home and my mentor. I was attached to him until he was killed by Wild Witches.
Luz: There are no wild witches. Whatever that's happened to you, it's all Belos.
Shadam: Shut your mouth lowlife! I was saved by him. But I was left to suffer. I lost everything. So now boy, I will show you what it's like to suffer after losing a loved one.
Shadam rose Flapjack up and began to crush him.
Hunter: No! Don't you dare! Flap!
Luz: No!
Christa watched with a worried look on her face. She shook and shut her eyes. Then she clenched her fist as her eyes began to turn white. Hunter tried to attack Shadam but he was punched to the ground.
Shadam: You can't stop me boy. None of you can.
Shadam was about to crush and kill Flapjack, until someone came at high speed and cut his arm. He grunts and let's go of Flapjack who quickly flew back to Hunter.
Hunter: Flap you okay?
Flapjack nods with a chirp. Hunter and everyone else looks to see what happened. Shadam looks behind him to see who did that and saw Christa, with her power activated. The white aura was forming around her, her eyes were glowing white and hair flowing up.
Luz: ( whispers) The power of the Eye?
Hunter: Red.
Shadam: So there it is. That's what I wanted to see.
Christa: Guys, get to a safe distance.
The others do so and stood near the wrecked house where we see Lilith and Alice trying to help Matti up.
Alex: Whoa? Since when did Christa ever do that.
Luz: Since I met her.
Amity: Trust me when I say you don't want to get on her bad side.
Willow: Should we really leave her alone with him?
Hunter: I've seen her do this. She's got this.
Harpy Eda: Give him Hell Chrissy.
Christa and Shadam stood their staring at each other.
Christa: You want to fight your way. We'll do it your way Shadam.
Shadam: ( silent chuckle) Don't hold back.
Shadam yells out and tries to jab his blade at Christa's face. She easily dodges and grabs hold of his arm and throws Shadam at a boulder, crushing it instantly. Christa fires a white beam at Shadam. He jumps out of the way and near her as he tries to fight her hand to hand. Christa blocks his attacks. He pushes her off and waves his blade accross her. She barely gets away as he left a cut on her cheek.
Christa fires a white beam at her and Shadam fired his purple beam at her as both their attacks clash. Even Christa in her powerful state, Shadam in his rage state still rivaled hers. The two struggled pushing back and forth their beams until it ignited and explodes. Christa covered her face from the explosion but did see his blade wave attack coming at her. Christa jumped up high but this was Shadam's plan as he appeared above her and eye beamed her. Christa falls to the ground as Shadam lands close to her. He got his blade ready to kill her, but then Christa opened her eye, rolled up on her back and used both her legs to kick Shadam in the chest. Shadam's eyes widened due to the impacted and was pushed to a tree. He held his chest and his shock, his armor was cracked.
Shadam: You...you cracked my armor.
Christa: You look scared. You wouldn't be as all powerful and feared without your armor.
Shadam: Why you?!
Shadam eye beams Christa as she deflects it with her hand with ease. He then forms a purple energy ball with his hands and tosses it at Christa. She caught the attack with her hands but then it blew up forcing it to the ground. She fell back but before she could get up, Shadam jabbed his blade at her.
We cut to the others reaction, thinking for a brief moment Shadam stabbed Christa. But look and see Christa caught the blade with the palm of her hands. The two struggled and Shadam slowly pushed his blade, cutting her hands and blood on the blade. Christa's power was flickering. She didn't have much time left.
Luz: Christa!
Hunter: We have to help.
The others ran to help her as Shadam notices.
Shadam: Stay out of this!
Shadam eye beamed the ground, creating an fiery explosion which everyone is caught in, but Hunter got separated and made it through and landed on the ground near Christa and Shadam.
Christa: Hunter.
Hunter: Shadam, please let her go.
Shadam: She's a threat to Belos. She must be dealt with Are you worried for her?
Shadam see's the worried look on his face.
Shadam: So, you've fallen in love with her. You really are a traitor for having a relationship with the enemy.
Shadam drove the blade further down, now the tip of it touching Christa's chest. Hunter took out the ice glyph and placed it on the floor, but before he could activate it, Shadam eye beamed his hand, burning away the glyph and burnt Hunter's hand as he yelled out.
Shadam: Nice try. But I'm not letting you get to me again. But don't worry, you'll be next after I kill her, your friends and your precious palisman.
Christa: ( whispers) No you won't.
Shadam turns to Christa.
Shadam: What was that my dear? You have any last words before I drive this into your heart.
Christa: No. You. WON'T!
Christa's power sparked up and her white aura formed around Shadam's blade, disintegrating it instantly.
Shadam: What?!
Christa yelled out as aimed her hands at Shadam firing two energy beams at him. He's hit by the attack as he fell back, armor was badly damaged and hurt. Christa got on top of him and grabbed his face as the struggled.
Shadam: Get off me! You can't defeat me girl!
Christa: I won't let you hurt any of my friends any more!
As Christa held onto Shadam a white light was forming around Christa and it was engulfing Shadam.
Shadam: What are you doing? No. This can't be it for me. This can't be it!
Shadam screams as he's engulfed by the light. A bright light flashes as everyone covers their eyes. I dimmed down as everything went silent.
King: What was that?
Amity: Did she do it?
Hunter: Red!
Hunter got up quickly and ran to the spot where Christa and Shadam were at. When he makes it over there he finds Christa lying on the ground. Shadam was no where to be seen. There was no body or remains, he just vanished. But Hunter didn't care about that and kneeled down to Christa. He held her in his arms as he checked on her.
Hunter: Red. Red are you alright? Christa?
Christa moaned and opened her eyes. Hunter sighed in relief and smiled.
Christa: Hey, are you okay?
Hunter: Yeah, I'm alright. A little beat up but I'll live. But your hurt.
Christa: A little, but I'm more tired really. And sore, my face hurts again. But, he won't get you anymore.
The two hug each other.
Hunter: Hey I know this is probably not a good time but uh...( blushes) did you mean what you said back there about uh...me being your boyfriend. I mean I'm not against it. I mean it'd be cool if we went out but if your not comfortable with it I understand and...
Christa: Hunter, stop talking.
The two look at each other and close in, sharing their first kiss.
Hooty: Ooh! Way to go CC.
Christa: Oh my gosh! Hooty!
Hunter turned around and saw everyone back on their feet smiling at the two.
Hunter: Were you guys watching the whole time?
Luz: Well I mean we hurried to her the moment things settled down.
Amity: Don't worry it's nothing to be ashamed of. Not for me and Luz.
Luz: Oh Amity.
Harpy Eda: Nice on Blondie. But be sure you just stick with kissing and nothing else
Christa: Eda!
Hunter: ( blushes) What the? I wasn't thinking that at all! What is with you?!
Matti: You're both hurt, hold on.
Matti kneeled down to Christa and Hunter as she placed her hands on the two and began to heal them.
Alice: Are you two sure you're okay? Hunter your curse.
Hunter: It's gone. I can feel it, it's gone.
Willow: I can't believe you got Shadam to lift it.
Hunter: Hey with everything I learned at the Emperor's Coven, I know how to get people to comply.
Alex: Yeah that's cool, but Christa you went ape on that guy. I mean I thought you were tough but his, just wow. You're the man.
Willow smacks the back of his head.
Willow: A man?
Alex: I meant in a complimentary way.
Willow: So Christa what happened to Shadam?
Christa: I don't know. It all happened so fast, I was trying to get him off me and keep him away from you guys and all of the sudden he just vanished.
Luz: I just hope we never have to deal with him again.
Harpy Eda: Still, this huge. We just took down of the Legion of Five and probably their most powerful member.
Harpy Lilith: Don't underestimate the rest of the group. There are still four others.
Alex: Technically three, I mean Gus here took down that Sata..Santa...the freaky clown guy. He's a beast.
Gus: Uh, I wouldn't call myself that.
Matti finishes healing Hunter and Christa. The two got up as the hexsquad hugged the two.
Amity: You did great Christa.
Luz: We're so glad you're okay.
Christa: I couldn't have done it without support from any of you.
Hunter: But we shouldn't celebrate. If word gets out Shadam is dead things can go bad for all of us.
Luz: So now what?
Alice: Wait, I forgot.
Eda and Lilith return to normal forms.
Eda: You forgot what?
Amity: Aunt Alice what did you originally come here for?
Alice: The reason I came here, it's...
But then they heard a rumbling sound.
Luz: What's that noise?
Christa: It's getting close.
Everyone got their selves ready to fight what was coming. Then it came and it looked like a motorcycle. Coming off it was Steve, now wearing his casual clothes but still had his coven scout mask on.
Steve: Oh man, finally made it. I knew I shouldn't have made that left turn.
Steve then looks around at all the damage.
Steve: Whoa, what did I miss?

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter. Sorry it's been so long ( again), but just had a lot to deal with. writers block and I finally moved into the new place and I'll try to be more consistent. At long last I finally brought this plot point full circle after building up to it for so long. And finally I gave you all the Hunsta or Christer fan service. By the way, I'm glad some of you actually like this ship despite being fan made. Now don't get me wrong, I do like Huntlow. I mean Hunter and Willow seem to be cute together, but I started doing this long before the two met so yeah. But now we move on and you can tell where this is heading. And if you're going to question Shadam here, just keep reading as the story continues.
Anyway, the following contains spoilers for the finale " Watching and Dreaming" as well as my thoughts on the show as a whole. Do not read any further if you don't want to be spoiled. ( Also you might want to take breaks reading this part)
So at long last, The Owl House has come to an end with it's series finale " Watching and Dreaming" and wow, what a ride this was. Okay first off I want to say glad leaks for this was minimal. There were only like two screenshots, but I didn't understand the context on one of them and one more turned out to be fake ( but I knew it was going to happen). Anyway so it picks up right after and first 7 minutes were cool. But the main highlights were of course Luz reuniting with Eda and King, the trio playing the Collector's game and his redemption as well as Titan Witch Luz.
Glad the Collector got some character development as I never saw him as evil, but just a powerful god child that needs to learn compassion and even helped during the climax. Belos was at his peak, taking control of the Titan and nearly destroying the isles and his monster form, oh my god. And of course I have to mention Luz meeting King's dad ( he was not at all what I was expecting) and her powerful Titan witch form, that was really cool. This episode gave me some Amphibia vibes with the main character dying, coming back to life and having a powerful god mode. The action and animation was great and intense. Then there were moments that were I would say unintentionally funny like when the Collector was trying to calm Belos down and everyone's reaction was kinda priceless including Belos. Oh and with Belos dying, it was satisfying to finally see him get his comeuppance but I kind of laughed a little with Eda, King and Raine stomping him like a bug.
And then the ending. Okay I heard theories that the show was a dream or a figment of Luz's imagination as she was writing a book on it, thank god that wasn't it because that would have been a total slap in the face of everything that happened and thankfully everything ended on a happy note. I feared the show was going to have a bittersweet ending of Luz leaving or a major character dies because we all heard is how Dana does not like happy endings. However my friend Lady Shadow92 once told me that she might have meant, she doesn't like happily ever after. Okay that's fine. I mean this isn't exactly a happily ever after ending since Flapjack is dead and Eda never cured her curse or got her magic back. But Luz still got to see everyone, she's regained her happiness and four years later now 18 she can go on being a witch but has new lessons to learn. Watching the end credits and seeing everyone grown up as the show closes really brings a tear to the eye.
Okay actually I always did imagine the show ending at a time skip except what I thought was going to happen was either:
A) Luz would become an authur of a best selling book series called " The Adventures of Luzura" where the stories are based off her adventures in the show, maybe have Amity also helps with it and it's published to both human and demon realms.
B) Luz becomes a teacher at Hexside and a master of glyph magic where there are young witches who probably can't do their own magic and she teaches them an alternative.
But what we got worked well too and let me tell you, I got a lot of rethinking to do with my climax. Thought I had it set but now I want to add some things here.
Do I have any complaints with the special, well nothing big but couple minor ones. I wished we got a Raeda and Huntlow kiss ( technically Eda does kiss Raine but I mean like the two kiss) and I was really hoping Lilith would have had a bigger part and gotten a harpy form ( okay she does but at the end credits, I mean what the hell). Also character interactions that we wanted to see were cut short like I was dying to see Camilla meet Eda and King but it was more of a silent montage and the same goes for when Amity interacts with Lilith again ( I keep forgetting they knew each other).
But the one thing that did bother me was, in the last episode Belos kept seeing Caleb's ghost as well as all the Golden Guards haunting him. I thought this was going to build up with his defeat like say he's about to kill Luz but then he see's Caleb staring at him with a cold stare as he tells him to go away and attacks him and Luz uses this as an advantage to win or say when he dies while he's begging for Luz's help he also see's Caleb and begs his brother for help, only for him to disappear and Luz backing away. But that's the worst it gets.
And so that's The Owl House, overall it was a fantastic show and I absolutely loved it. I loved it's characters. Luz is a great protagonist who really grows and unlike Steven Universe when she was at her lowest point, they didn't ruin her. And as you all know, my favorite character is Amity because she had some great character development, she was cool, her relationship with Luz is one of the highlights, is a badass at times and of course I love the actress who voices her ( just a side note my second favorite is Hooty, because Hooty's awesome and every time he's on screen I laugh).
The show had great character development, animation, humor and it's dark and twisted moments, kinda like Gravity Falls. It has a similar tone to that show. Some say Amphibia was a better and while I do think it's great, I think it's funnier ( and I quote a lot from it) and I think it has better world building, but I like the Owl House a little more. I know some say that this finale kinda copied Amphibia's finale with the exception of the ending, which it does but honestly I can't really think how it would go any other way.
By the way it was quite the challenge going through season 3 since these specials were aired months apart. Now I can imagine what it was like for people who went through the Weirdmageddon arc in Gravity Falls since I never experienced it as I didn't watch that show until a few years after it's airing, but theres no way I would have been satisfied with 20 minute episodes.
Now do I have any complaints with the show. Well I hate to say it but there are some flaws. One is that some character developments could have been fleshed out better. One being Hunter and Amity, these two were kinda enemies in Eclipse Lake yet after that the fight is never mentioned again and further interactions they're just cool with each other. Another thing actually with Hunter is his relationship with Willow. Again I do like these two together but the thing is it's not as developed or taken the time like Lumity.
Some plot points were also never really addressed, some minor like I can piece together Caleb and Belos/Phillip's backstory but would have liked to have known if Eveleyn was a Clawthorne, but one thing I never understood was that if Belos was the one who made the portal, how did he lose it to where Eda found it ( or was it explained but I forgot certain plot points).
Another thing and this is what Amphibia did better was the use of many side characters. Like other frogs and newts like Mrs. Croaker, One Eyed Wally and Mayor Toadstool, Lady Olivia and General Yunan all had episodes to shine. Here most of the side characters don't have that, I mean I like Viney and Skara but they're so underrated and almost underused. Mattholomule got better treatment ( and I could say the Blight twins got a decent amount) and while the same goes for Boscha I wasn't too fond of how she was in the " For the Future." I don't know I guess because I did see potential of better character development for her since I read a couple stories on her and it amazed me ( which were also the inspiration for making me do this). I also completely forgot the character the Bat Queen and that she's a big palisman.
And lastly, I don't know about you guys but I felt the whole Hunter hiding his identity of being a grimwalker was kinda pointless. I'm not saying Hunter being a grimwalker was the problem, what I'm saying is him hiding it to the others didn't make much sense. With Luz's case of unintentionally helping Belos I understood that, but what did Hunter have to lose if the others found out he was a grimwalker, because he's a copy of another witch hunter. They don't even know about Caleb. And when they do find out, not much happened with it nor did it effect Willow and Gus ( although he knew) and it's not really resolved. This plot point didn't have much impact and this is why I didn't really have Hunter hide it and some characters know about it, because I can't really work much with it.
Now I know most of these were probably affected due to the show being cancelled. I know you heard this a lot but this does affect the negatives of the show because maybe some of these could have been addressed had season 3 gotten a full season.
Why was this show canceled no one truly knows other than the executives saying " It does not fit the Disney brand." Some say it's probably it's darker tone, others say it's the lgbqt representation but I don't think it was the latter because one they knew that was part of the theme and two a lot of recent shows on Disney Channel has this like Gravity Falls implied that Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland were in a relationship, Amphibia did have a relationship between Lady Olivia and General Yunan towards the end, in the Ducktales reboot the character Violet Sabrewing has two dads and ( spoiler alert) just recently in The Ghost and Molly Mcgee Geoff now has a boyfriend. So if Disney channel was allowing this then and now I don't think that's the issue.
But despite all that, none of this ruins the show for me and I still enjoyed season 3 for what it was and you want to know why? Because the crew took the time and really made the best out of it. How can Steven Universe ( well same can be said for Star vs. The Forces of Evil but I only seen season 1 and lost interest but heard the later seasons and finale fell flat) which had an hour long finale, multiple episodes, a movie and a time skip season fall flat, leaving a lot to be desired yet this went sky high?
But when I made Advent of the Gara Droids I did it because I felt SU lacked a villain, I was left partially unsatisfied and wanted a little more going on. That's not the case here. I love the show the way it is. I just want to add my take to it. I love making up monsters and villains. I loved the show so much I made Christa. I never made a fan character like her before.
This show really holds a special place in my heart and while yeah I listed down some complaints but I wouldn't be doing a good job reviewing if I don't mention it's flaws and that's okay. No show is perfect, like I love the original Teen Titans but as I grew up I realized a few flaws with the writing/story of some episodes or some season finales felt forced ( most notably season 1 and 3 and I know this is not a story driven show) for the Titans to win.
I'll definitly come back to it now and then on Disney+, but I really hope one day this along with Amphibia gets a DVD or Blu-ray release like Gravity Falls because to me this is one of those shows I want to cherish for the rest of my life.
Some people hope that the show will continue someday, maybe with a movie, but I say leave it as it is. Even if they do, Dana is no longer part of it since after finishing the episode she quite Disney, so that could effect the series and considering how SU Future handled a time skip season I'd rather not have one ( but if it has a Lumity wedding I'll go for it).
Anyway this is going on too long. I apologize. But don't worry, while the show is over the story isn't. I will finish it and we'll see where it goes after.
