Chapter 59: The Covens Against the Throne ( aka the CATS)
Notice: Before we begin I just want to say whoever is the one who keeps spamming long, hateful and negative reviews of the show on how stupid it is, how Belos is a stupid villain and Luz did not earn the Titan powers, can you just stop. Every other time I make a chapter I have to deal with this and you know your reviews are removed. If you don't even like the show what the hell are you even doing here reading a fanfic made by a fan who loves this show. Just stop already or if you're going to leave a negative review, at least detail and specify why you don't like it. Sorry, anyway enjoy the chapter.
Steve: Whoa, what did I miss?
Eda: A scout.
Hooty: Intruder! You're not getting CC or Lulu! AAAH!
Hooty screams and rams into Steven and starts beating him up off screen.
Hunter: Is that...Steve?
Lilith: Steve? Hootsifer stop! Stop it's okay.
Lilith pulls Hooty off of Steve and helps him up.
Steve: ( groans) Oh hey Lilith. Long time no see. Is that a new look? You look good.
Lilith: I'm so sorry Steve. Hootsifer can be a little protective.
Luz: Lilith you know him?
Lilith: It's okay everyone. He's an old friend of mine.
Hunter: It's true, he's cool.
Steve: He-Hey Hunter. Glad to see your okay, after what I heard. Oh listen, everyone this maybe a bit hard to believe. I mean coming from someone who served the Emperor's Coven, but I came to warn you. Selene is coming with an army of scouts.
Christa: What?
Luz: When?
Steve: At dawn. But we still got time. I'll take you guys to a safe place.
Eda: Now hold on. Can we really trust this guy?
Lilith: Steve is an honest guy Eda.
Alice: Hold on. Are you the one sent by Darius and Raine?
Eda and Matti: Raine?
Steve: Yes, I'm with them. They sent me here to bring you to safety and to help.
Alice: Then he's telling the truth.
Amity: Aunt Alice how did you know about that?
Eda: Yeah, how do you know.
Alice: I...I've been secretly seeing Darius lately.
Luz and Eda: What?
Hunter: Wait really?
Alice: He and Raine were the ones who gave me what you needed to get the kids out of Belos's mind. I'm sorry I never said anything but they told me to keep it a secret. And then after the whole Abomiking incident Darius came to see me and I told him everything of what you three saw. I thought he should know of what was going to happen so he could help stop the draining spell. The reason I came was to prove that you can trust this young man.
Steve: They want to help you and you might be able to help them.
Luz: They can help us stop Belos?
Steve: Well they'll explain more details when we get there. We have to get moving.
Matti: Let's gather what we need.
Steve: Uh hold up. I was only told to bring the Owl Lady, her friends and Hunter.
Matti: I'm her friend too.
Amity: So are we.
Steve: Yeah, but I mean I was told to bring those who live with her. I mean I don't think I should get you guys involved in this.
Matti: We already are. I need to see Raine.
Eda: Wait Matti. Let us go for now.
Matti: But Eda...
Eda: I know you're worried about Raine. I'll talk to them so you can see them.
Lilith: Besides these kids need some medical attention right now.
Matti turns around to the Hexsquad and Alice who were injured after fighting Shadam.
Matti: ( sighs) Your right. Just tell Raine I said hi.
Eda: Will do.
We cut to Hunter with Alice.
Alice: You sure you want to go?
Hunter: I am. I think it's best I leave so you have less to worry about and for your safety. But thank you so much for taking me in and giving me a place to stay. I'll never forget your kindness.
Alice: ( places hands on his shoulders) Having you live with me was no trouble and just know you'll always have a place with me. And uh, give this to Darius when you see him.
Alice kisses Hunter on his cheek.
Hunter: Uh, okay but I don't think it would mean the same coming from me.
Amity: Hey.
Amity approaches Hunter and hugs him.
Amity: Take care of yourself cuz and look after Luz for me.
Hunter: Sure, I will.
Amity lets go of him as Willow, Gus and Alex goes to him next as Willow hugs him.
Willow: You be safe.
Hunter: Are you guys alright.
Gus: Don't worry about us, we'll live.
Alex: Yeah, just need to go lay down with a bag of ice.
We see Amity going over to hug Christa.
Amity: You be careful alright. You stay with Luz and work together.
Christa: Okay Amity.
Amity lets go of her and does not hesitate to hug Luz.
Amity: You know I'd come with you if I could right.
Luz: I know you would.
Amity: If things go bad you contact me okay?
Luz: Okay Ami.
Amity gives Luz a kiss on her cheek as Willow, Gus and Alex comes in to hug the two.
Willow: You call us if you need help alright?
Alex: You know we'll get bust you out when your in trouble.
Gus: I mean you two seem to get into a lot.
Christa: ( giggles) I just can't help.
Luz: Thanks guys. We'll keep in contact.
Eda: Alright if we're done here, Luz and Chrissy get only what you need. ( to Lilith) Henrietta get Hooty out.
Lilith: What did you call me?
Eda: I mean Lily. Sorry, who's Henrietta?
Later
We then cut to Steve driving a carriage through Latissa with the group inside, locked up to look like prisoners.
King: Okay I was kinda in on this at first, but I'm really having second thoughts on this.
Steve: No, no it's okay. I have to transport you there discreatly. Belos has posters for all of you.
Luz: Wait even me?
Steve: Yup, you, Christa, Hunter, Lilith and even that uh...um the Bird tube thing.
Lilith: Can't believe he hasn't done that until now.
Hunter: ( shutters) He's really at it with me.
Hooty: Oh wow, I'm on a wanted poster. Hey do I look handsome?
Hunter: Um I don't think this is a good time to wonder whether or not you look good on a poster.
Lilith: Oh don't mind him Hootsifer. You're absolutely the most handsome of them all.
Hooty: Aw Lulu!
Eda: Well I certainly did. Luz, Chrissy a part of me is scared that your on a wanted poster, but the part of me says I'm proud of you two.
Christa: You're proud that we're wanted witches?
Eda: Hey, it's part of the initiation of the Bad Girl Coven.
Christa: You never said that.
Eda: Well I just did now.
Luz: Eda out of everything we had to bring with us, why did you insist we bring your box of longest toenails.
Eda: Hey it's important to me.
Luz: How is this important exactly.
Eda: Trust me, you'll find out soon enough.
Suddenly the carriage stopped.
King: Why did we stop?
Steve: We're here.
Steve opens the doors for the group to come out, all wearing robes. They went into an ally and followed Steve. But it looked like a dead end.
Eda: So, where is it?
Steve: Hold on.
Steve went to the wall and pressed the bricks in a specific pattern, doing so the wall to a stair case passage way.
Luz: Whoa, secret passage way.
Steve: Yup, gotta keep this hidden. Come on in.
They followed Steve down the stairs and at the end made it to a steel door. He knocked on it as a sliding opening on the door showing the person behind the door's eye's appeared.
Carl: Got the password.
Steve: Yvan eht nioj
The door opens and they see the one opening were the Coven Guards, Carl and Earl.
Carl: Took you long enough Steve.
Steve: Hey I got lost.
Earl: You weren't followed were you?
Steve: Don't worry, I always make sure I'm not?
Hunter: Carl, Earl?
Carl: Oh hey Hunter. Glad you guys made it.
Earl: Come in. The others are waiting.
The group while mildly confused entered and soon they found their selves in a large room and in the center they saw five figures standing around talking.
Steve: I'm brought them. Just as you asked.
The figures turned around and it was Raine, Hipporit, Darius, Eberwolf and Mr. Hirata. Raine smiled the moment he saw the group.
Raine: Hello Eda.
Eda: Raine.
Eda runs up to hug them and then lightly punches their arm.
Raine: Ow. What was that for?
Eda: For not calling me or Matti.
Raine: I'm sorry, things have been tough and wasn't allowed to make contact with any of you.
Hunter: Darius.
Darius: Alright you got me, I'm a rebel.
Christa: Hi Raine.
Luz: Are we so happy to see you.
Raine: I'm happy to see you too.
Hipporit: And we're glad to see you safe as well.
Lilith: Hipporit.
Hipporit: Welcome to our base of operations. I'm sure most sure you know our members. Raine Whispers and their team.
Joining Raine was their teammates Katya, Derwin and Amber waving to the group.
Hipporit: Darius Deamonne, Eberwolf and Akihiko Hirata.
Christa: Mr. Hirata?! You too?
Mr. Hirata: You two missed quite a lot at school.
Hipporit: There is Steve, Carl and Earl and meet our newest recruit.
The scene then shifts to Tiny Nose on a stool.
Tiny Nose: Hello. I'm a webel now.
Lilith: Sir, did you bring us here to hide.
Hipporit: More than that. We might be in need of your help.
Luz: Well you can help us too. When we were in Belos's mind we found out...
Raine: We know. We know about the draining spell, Belos is a witch hunter and Keizer.
Christa: So then, you know this is bad right?
Hipporit: Yes, but thanks to Darius and Akihiko for receiving information about it, we are currently working on a plan to stop it and we might need your, well mainly Eda's help with it, but we'll fill you in more details when we're close to that day.
Raine: Rest assured, you are not alone now.
Darius: Oh no, don't tell me you're...
Raine: For you are now part of the Covens Against the Throne.
Darius: Don't you dare.
Raine: Aka...
Darius: I did not agree to this!
Raine: The CATS!
Raine and the rest of the team ( except Darius) hisses like cats.
Darius: ( groans in annoyance) Oh just kill me already.
Scene shifts as some time passes by as the group catches up with some of their old friends.
Eda and Raine.
Eda: So what's been happening with you at the castle?
Raine: After Hipporit took me back, he had to turn me into Terra Snapdragon's care.
Eda: The Head Witch of the Plant Coven? Doesn't she have a screw loose or something?
Raine: Well she's definitely all in on the Day of Unity. She's been giving me her tea to control me and mess with my memories due to my actions.
Eda: You don't look like your controlled.
Raine: I'm not. You remember my little trick with whistling to change the flavor of drinks right?
Eda: Oh yeah, you can make the most sour drinks taste sweet. Really came in handy for the blood punch at grom several years back.
Raine: I did the same with her tea but acted as if I was her puppet.
Eda: ( wraps arm around them) Clever as always Raine Storm.
Raine: Yeah, but I learned from the best. But tell me, did you guys really fight Shadam?
Eda: Oh yeah. He was beyond powerful, if it wasn't for Chrissy's power we could have all been killed.
Raine: I never thought anyone beat the Legion of Five, but actually I'm not the only one under Terra's care now. Satarakura is too. What happened to him?
Eda: I don't really know the full details but one Luz and Chrissy's friends messed up his mind or something. Is he out of our hair too.
Raine: I'm not sure. He's still recovering.
Eda: Right, so you want to fill me in more about your plan?
Raine: We're still working out the full details. We'll tell you soon.
Eda: But can this really work?
Raine: Well, it'll stop the draining spell but it won't stop Belos and Keizer.
Eda: Then we still need to find the Unknown Isles.
Raine: How's that been going?
Eda: Not so great. I've been searching Temperor for nights but I can't find a lead. I don't know what to do since there's eleven days left. We need to find it to get help and to find Chrissy's family.
Raine: Don't worry, we'll help. I'll send my team to search. If we want to stop those two, we need to find the Eye if we want to stop those two. So tell me, how are your kids doing?
Eda: Despite everything that's going on, Luz and Chrissy are determined to stop the two. But I know after going into Belos's mind it scared them, mainly Chrissy. She's not showing it, but I know deep down she's terrified because Belos attacked her home and family. I was told she froze the moment she saw him.
Raine: Poor girl. She must have been through a lot.
Eda: But you know what's bothering me? I'm worried if we do find the Unknown Isles, things may not be what she's hoping it to be.
Raine: You mean...
Raine looks around a moment to make sure no one was here and whispers to Eda.
Raine: ( whispers) Her family?
Eda: This is Belos we're talking about. He leaves no witch alive.
Raine: She needs a home if worse comes to worse.
Eda: And if worse comes to worse, I'll look after her. I promise that.
Raine: I never seen this side of you before. Guess having kids changed you.
Eda: Eh, a little. I'm still the bad girl witch you know. But I really appreciate what your doing for us Raine.
Raine: Of course. So how's Matti?
Eda: She's doing alright, she just misses you.
Raine: I'm sure she does. I miss her as well.
Eda: Why didn't you ask to bring her as well?
Raine: Lately when I'm with you guys I end up putting you in danger in some way.
Eda: You brought me back.
Raine: To protect you and for your help.
Eda: And Matti can help too. Raine I told her about what's to come. Archy, Sera, Alice and the kids friends from school know too. They can help, they're your friends. Don't you want to protect Matti from all this? I mean, I want to do whatever I can to save Archy.
Raine: Well, we could use all the help we can. If we truly need their help I'll make contact.
Eda smiles and hugs Raine.
Eda: You're the best Raine Storm.
We then cut to Luz with Mr. Hirata.
Luz: Mr. Hirata, I can't believe you of all people would be here.
Mr. Hirata: I have my reasons Luz and my history with the Emperor's Coven.
Luz: Guess I should have seen this coming. My friends told me what happened at school and Vee about your time.
Mr. Hirata: ( surprised) You know Vee? Where is she?
Luz: She's okay. She's in the human realm living with my mom. She's happy and safe there.
Mr. Hirata: Hmmm, I haven't seen her in years. I'm glad she's safe and away from this mad world.
Luz: Mr. Hirata, what did bringing back the basilisk do to help Belos with his plan.
Mr. Hirata: ( sighs) This was a time I did what I did without question. Belos as you know was on his " quest" to purge wild magic and wanted to know more about draining it from wild witches, but it seems it was more for ideas on the draining spell. We discovered the fossilized remains of the basilisk that have been extinct for thousands of years. We brought them back by cloning.
Luz: Whoa, that is some Jurassic Park science fiction right there.
Mr. Hirata: I don't know what that is, but I'm guessing it ended horribly for them.
Luz: It kinda did.
Mr. Hirata sighs and sits down, covering his face.
Mr. Hirata: I've done so much damage Luz. I'm sorry for what happened at school, with the basilisk attack.
Luz: What do you mean, you didn't cause it. And we took care of it. I mean I helped Viney and her friends out of detention and I even got my multitrack course.
Mr. Hirata: But it's not just that. Everything that's about to happen it's because of me. Because I helped him get his ideas for the draining spell.
Luz: You didn't know what you were doing and most of that was that jerk partner of yours fault.
Mr. Hirata: I was just as involved as Cushing was. This is still my fault. That's why I'm here, to fix it.
Luz: Whether it's your fault or not, I'm glad your here to help.
Mr. Hirata: ( smiles) Can you do me a small favor?
Luz: Sure.
Mr. Hirata: Next time you see Vee, give her this.
Mr. Hirata hands her what looks like a small brooch, the shape of a fan consisting of gold and black with an ocean patter to it.
Mr. Hirata: It once belonged to my late daughter, I thought she should have it.
Luz: I'll make sure she gets it and maybe you can see her yourself.
Mr. Hirata: ( nods) Thank you.
We then cut to Darius walking out of another room but then going back as he notices Hunter and Christa alone together in the hall.
Christa: Are you sure your not in anymore pain?
Hunter: Don't worry. I'm fine. Shadam won't bother us again. You really went all out on him.
Hunter wrapped his arm around Christa's waist as she giggled at first, but then winched in pain and quickly let's go of her.
Hunter: Sorry was that too hard.
Christa: No.
Christa lifts up her shirt, revealing a bruise on her stomach.
Hunter: Ooh.
Christa: He still beat me just as bad.
Hunter: Hold on.
Hunter takes an ice glyph. He taps on in and is glows and places it on Christa's stomach.
Christa: Ah! That's cold.
Hunter: Just keep it on you for now. It'll help reduce the swelling.
Christa smiled at him as she placed her hand on his where stomach is and holds the glyph on her.
Christa: You're so sweet. I'm gonna go see Luz. I'll be back okay.
Christa places a kiss on his cheek and leaves. Once she was gone, Hunter felt a hand on his head. He freaks out for a moment and turns around only to see it was just Darius.
Hunter: Darius.
Darius: ( smirks) I saw that. So you got yourself a girlfriend huh?
Hunter: Oh Christa? I mean, we've known each other for a while but she and I just started going out. Just literally after we beat Shadam.
Darius: I can't believe you all took on him. He's supposed to be the strongest of the Legion of Five. Did he really curse you? Why didn't you tell me?
Hunter: I didn't know what this was before and you and I were just barely talking.
Darius: Still, had I known I would have forced him to lift it.
Hunter: Could you have beaten him?
Darius: Hmph, he maybe part of the Legion of Five but I'm still head witch. So tell me, has Alice been treating you well?
Hunter: Oh yeah, she was really nice. She didn't have to take me in to hide, but she did and made sure I was comfortable. She was really nice and her niece was cool.
Darius: Alador's youngest daughter? I heard she's a tough one, or at least that's what he brags about.
Hunter: No she is, but she can be nice if you stay on her good side. Actually Alice told me she helped because I was like her and because I know you. I can see why you like her.
Darius: Yeah, thankfully she and I have been talking again. And when this is over I want to make up lost time with her.
Hunter: You know Darius, I'm surprised you of all people are in on this. Why did you join this resistance?
Darius: Simple, I always knew there was something off about this Day of Unity. A world purifying wild magic to create a new perfect world? Eber and I didn't buy it and it seems we're not the only ones. The other Head Witches don't see that. Either they're just following Belos or they, mainly Terra and Andrian Grey think they're getting paradise. When I caught Hipporit snooping around, I wanted in. I wanted to have you here also to keep you safe and so Belos won't suspect Alice.
Hunter: I wouldn't feel right if anything happened to her because of me.
Darius: Yeah well, maybe you should go rest.
Darius walks past Hunter about to leave the area.
Hunter: Darius wait, there's something else you should know when I was in Belos's mind.
Darius stops where he's at but doesn't turn to look at Hunter.
Darius: More important information?
Hunter: Not for the plan but, it's about the previous Golden Guard. I... I don't know how to say this. He figured out Belos's plan and he hid the portal away from him. He died trying to postpone his plan. I'm sorry but I thought you should know the truth.
Hunter looked at Darius as he stood there. He saw him clench his fist but then he lets go and brings his hand up, rubbing his face.
Darius: Thank you for telling me.
With that Darius leaves as Hunter watches him with concern.
We now cut to Lilith and Hooty with Steve, Carl and Earl.
Hooty: Hey sorry for attacking you like that a while back.
Steve: Oh it's fine. It's not the first time someone beat me up for scaring them. So Lilith, did you seriously not suspect any of this?
Lilith: I'm starting to think I was not that good at my job.
Steve: Are you kidding? You and Hunter, you guys were cool. Both as leaders and just friends. Selene, eh not so much.
Lilith: Oh yeah, so how has she been running things?
Steve: Uh well...
Earl breaks down crying ( in a comedic way) as Carl rubs his back in comfort.
Carl: Easy Earl. She's not here.
Earl: ( sniffs) But she's a horrible man.
Lilith: Oh Titan is she that bad?
Steve: Dude, the girl's a freaking psychopath. She treats all of us like dirt and expects us to be perfect soldiers and she kills the ones deems as she quotes " unworthy to be in the Emperor's Coven." You remember Rusty Shackleford?
Lilith: Oh yes, nice guy. He was always fun at game night.
Steve: Yeah and she killed him for picking his nose.
Lilith: Oh...Oh no, poor Rusty.
Earl: Everyone loved Rusty! He had a husband and two kids and Selene filed it as a missing persons report.
Carl: Now and then she disposes a scout due to imperfection. She said she said you and Hunter ruined us and she's trying to fix it and make it perfect.
Steve: She's mean to everyone. You were honestly my bestie back there and I was a bit sad when you left. I get why you did but still.
Lilith: ( hugs Steve) Oh Steve, I missed you as well. Is this why your here now?
Steve: It wasn't just that. When I joined, I thought I would help make the Isles a better place. I wanted to do it for my little bro. I thought I'd be doing something good, but people seem to see us as villains. That we're like monsters to them and I'm not that guy. And after learning about the draining spell, I don't want to be part of it.
Steve takes off his mask, showing his face.
Steve: I don't want people to see me as some monster.
Carl and Earl also remove their masks. Carl had dark skin with a mustache while Earl had beige skin with blonde hair, a goatee and had four eyes.
Carl: Me neither.
Earl: We may have worked for bad guys but that doesn't mean we're bad guys.
Hipporit: None of us want to be that.
Lilith looked over and saw Hipporit approach her.
Lilith: Sir, thank you again for bringing me and my friends and family here with you.
Hipporit: Lilith...
Hooty: Oh wow. You're Lulu's old boss. She told me al-l-l-l-l-l-l about you. Hey is there anything I can help. Can I?! Can I?! Can I?!
Lilith: ( pulling him back) Hootsifer please, your embarrassing me. Sorry about him sir, he's just happy to help.
Hipporit: It's fine. But I'm glad to have you back aboard Lilith. It's good to be back to be with someone I trust. I'm glad you were able to step out of that path. But Selene sadly does not see that.
Lilith: You chose her to be Head Witch.
Hipporit: It was Belos's decision and I had to agree. But I chose you all those years ago for a reason. You had the qualities of a leader. Selene I knew she only wanted the power of it. And look at her now. She's abusing her power for her personal gain. She was never fit to be Head Witch.
Lilith: Sir, what are you going to do if we have to fight her?
Hipporit: As much as I don't appreciate how she is running things, I want to get through to her first.
Lilith: What? You can't reason with her, she's crazy. She's attacked me and my girlfriend multiple times.
Hipporit: I know, but she's still being manipulated by Belos.
Lilith: Even if she wasn't she'd still be the way she is.
Hipporit: I've worked with her as long as you. I have to try.
Lilith: ( sighs) Still, I don't think you should get your hopes up with her.
Hipporit: Hm, it's a slim chance to begin with.
We now cut to the group together in the bunkers sitting together. With Luz and Eda sitting on the bed while Christa sat on the floor Howl sitting next to her and King resting on her lap.
Eda: Luz, there's something I wanted to give you.
Eda hands Luz a shoe box and on it was labeled " Eda's longest toenails ( don't open)." Luz reacts with a disgusted look.
Luz: Oh, uh...that's thoughtful Eda, but I'm good.
Eda: Come on, just open.
Luz: No really, I'm flattered but I really don't...
Eda: Would you just open it already?
Luz reluctantly opens the box, but to her surprise ( and thankfully) wasn't toenails. Instead it was the palistrom wood that Eda stole for her.
Luz: The palistrom wood?
Eda: With everything that's going on, I thought maybe you'd wanna carve your palisman.
Eda takes out a carving knife from her hair.
Eda: What do you say?
Christa: Go for it Luz.
Luz: I...I don't know. I mean we have less than two weeks and we haven't found the Unknown Isles or have what we need to truly stop Belos and...
Eda pulls her into a hug.
Eda: Hey, hey easy. This isn't all on you. Raine is going to help us out.
King: Yeah we got loads of teammates now. Meow, meow!
Luz: But what if the palisman doesn't like me?
Christa: Are you serious?
King: By my count, you've befriended more enemies than I have claws on my paw.
Eda: Plenty of witches would've ditched this rock already. But you keep learning and you keep fighting. What's not to like huh?
Christa: You're the coolest and best person I know. Besides, I think Howl would love to have a new friend.
Howl responds with a soft growl.
Luz: ( smiles) Thanks guys. I think I'm ready to carve.
Luz takes the carving knife and looks at the wood.
Luz: Um, you're going to show me how to do this right?
Eda: Oh, duh, My dad taught me the ropes. Here let's make some space, lay the wood here.
King: Oh, are you going to carve me?
Eda: Calm down King. Now let's take it slow. We've got all the time in the world.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. I know this one wasn't too special and more talky, but I wanted to make something easy after the trouble I went through the last couple of chapters. No the next chapter isn't the Day of Unity just yet as there are still a few events to go through before we get there. And yes I'm finally going to bring in Luz's palisman, but I'm going to have a hard time trying to think how for Stringbean to hatch.
By the way I wanted to update on something with what I said last chapter. I might have said before during my thoughts in the show that I would have liked to have known if there was some evidence with Evelyn being a Clawthorne ancestor. Sometime after I uploaded the chapter I discovered the last Post Hoot video from the cast and crew with Dana Terrace there for a Q&A. I say look it up because she does answer some questions. For one she confirms that the happy ending we got was always planned and the whole statement of her not liking happy endings was just a passive comment that wasn't mean to be taken so seriously. Also and this blew up in the fandom but didn't know where it came from but it's confirmed that Hunter is Bi and Willow is pan, okay cool. I'm not sure if some of you wonder the sexualities of my characters, honestly I never really thought that deep into it since my story isn't as heavy with the LGBQT representation. The only ones I can confirm are Seraphina being a lesbian and Matti is pan, though I did consider Alex being bi just to make some jokes with him.
