Chapter 69:

The Wrath of Selene

Lilith accompanied Hipporit and Seraphina through the tunnel they went through to split up. Hipporit lead the way through the dark tunnel and lit the way. Seraphina was behind him and looked back at her girlfriend walking behind her with a worried look. She slowed down to walk next to her.

Seraphina: Hey.

Lilith: Hey.

Seraphina: You're falling behind.

Lilith: Sorry. I know I should stay focused. I'm just worried.

Serphina: I know. For the others and your sister. It'll be okay.

Seraphina held her hand making Lilith smile.

Lilith: I'm so glad you came.

Seraphina: I'm always there for you and your family.

Seraphina places a kiss on her cheek.

Hooty: Oooh! Lulu and Siri, no Liliphina. The best ship ever. Hoot!

Seraphina replied with a giggle as Lilith blushes.

Lilith: Hootsifer please.

They now ended up in another area. Seemed like a large bridge with a bottomless pit underneath. But then they stopped in their tracks when they saw someone standing on the other side.

Lilith: Selene.

Selene: Hello Lilith and Seraphina. I was worried I arrived here too late.

Lilith and Seraphina had their staffs ready to fight.

Hipporit: Hold it! Selene.

Selene: Captain Hipporit. I can't believe you. I didn't want to believe Kaa's report but it's true. You really are a spy conspiring against us.

Hipporit: It's true. The real reason I took the offer to reenlist was to uncover answers I couldn't during my time as Head Witch. But you have to listen to me. What Belos said about the Day of Unity is lie. There is no new world to be made. This whole thing is giant draining spell to revive an ancient evil.

Selene looked away with little to no care.

Hipporit: You knew?

Selene: I've known for a while. No one can escape my eyes, not even Belos.

Lilith: Then you should know that what's happening out there, the same applies to you.

Selene: I've been working ways around it, but before I could do anything your little brat blew off my old hand which had my sigil.

Seraphina: How can you be alright with this?

Hooty: Yeah this will destroy our world!

Selene: It'll fix our world. They will have their magic drained even those naive coven heads. The new world will be for only the strong and I will be rain supreme.

Hipporit: Belos was planning to have you killed.

Selene: Belos is a fool! I overheard his conversations with Keizer and his repeated failures. You really think I let myself get killed by someone like him? I'm surprised he made it as emperor. He's planning on leaving when this is done and I'll prove to Keizer I am more competent witch. I know my ways to get to the top.

Hipporit: Selene you can't allow this to happen.

Selene: Oh but I have. I already caught Eda in the act.

Hipporit: You did what?!

Lilith: What did you do to Edalyn!?

Selene: Oh I didn't kill her yet. But the draining spell will do that for me.

Hipporit: You've gone too far Selene. Even for you.

Selene: Maybe, but I'm not a traitor like you!

Hipporit: Selene...

But then Hipporit was hit by a magic blast from Selene's staff knocking him down. Lilith and Seraphina helped him up.

Selene: Liar! You knew I devoted my life to this coven and was loyal to you! You knew how hard I worked to become head witch. But then she came along and you began to favor her!

Selene fired another magic blast at Lilith. Seraphina guarded her girlfriend and deflected the attack with her staff and ran up to fight. Lilith transformed into her harpy form as now three fought against Selene. Selene formed her arms into snake arms and lunged one of them at Seraphina. She jumped up in the air as her hand glows purple and punches Selene across the face. Selene stumbled back and Seraphina was about to hit her with her staff but Selene acted quickly and blocked it with her staff as the two locked onto each other. Lilith was flying at her from behind as Selene saw her coming and was able to push Seraphina in her place as Lilith accidentally rams into her.

Selene formed a spell circle about to hit the two with a magic blast but Hooty rammed into her, cancelling the attack.

Selene: Why you-ah!

Hooty rammed into her again from the back.

Hipporit blew fire from his trunk at Selene. She waved her staff to blow the flames away and threw a potion bomb at him. Another one came at him but jumped out of the way. As the smoke cleared up Selene approached him with two more in her hands.

Selene: What did you see in her that you made her Head Witch? What was it!? Tell me.

Selene kept throwing more potion bombs as Hipporit barely dodged most of them. But the blasts kept filling up the area with smoke that it was getting hard to see her surroundings.

Selene: Tell me!

But in her fit of rage she couldn't see clearly and Hipporit came at her from the right side and grabbed her arms. He turned around locking both arms behind her.

Hipporit: You don't understand. I don't think you ever did.

Selene: What? That I wasn't good enough for you? You preferred your pet over there than me?

Hipporit: NO! It was never about favorites. I've watched the both you during my missions and I was proud of how well the two worked. But do you remember that night when we were hunting down Abrella? I could have died that night but Lilith risked her life to save me. I knew how corrupt the system is but I knew I couldn't talk any of you out at the time. I convinced Belos to pass the title to Lilith because she had some sense of honor.

Selene: You call locking up wild witches and cursing her own sister honorable?

Lilith looked away as Seraphina placed her hand on her shoulder.

Hipporit: I was in that dark path too when I was young and arrogant. But we've escaped that. But I chose her because I knew how you would run things. You've been mistreating the scouts and have no sense of honor or respect.

Selene: There is no honor in the world. The strong survive and weak die! That's how it's always been.

Hipporit: Stop resisting Selene. You can't beat me.

Selene: You s-s-s-sure about that.

Hipporit was caught off guard by Selene's hiss like tone. He felt something in between his legs and saw instead of Selene's legs they were merged into a tail. Selene growled and hissed as her body enlarged and shoved Hipporit off of her. Selene's clothes ripped off as she was now in her Gorgon form. She was twice her original size and had a snake body with silver scales. Her upper body had her feminine humanoid look with her hourglass figure shape, her hands had long sharp nail like claws and her face was pale white in place of her hair was the hood of a cobra. She towered over Hipporit as she showed him her sharp teeth and fangs.

Harpy Lilith: Selene?

Seraphina: What have you done to yourself

Gorgon Selene: Surprised Lilith? I wasn't going let you get ahead of me again. I finally was able to make my version of your harpy form. But more my s-s-s-style. This is where it ends for the three of you.

Hooty: Uh four. I'm still here you know.

Selene slithers behind Lilith. She was very fast as her speed and reflexes seemed to have enhanced. She swiped her claws across her back, knocking Hooty off her back.

Harpy Lilith: Hootsifer!

Hooty: Hoooot!

Hooty fell into the pit. Lilith tried to fly down to save her, but the moment she did Selene grabbed her leg and threw her back on the bridge

Gorgon Selene: Now it's just the three of you.

Seraphina rammed her staff into Selene letting out a magic wave. Selene is pushed but because this wasn't exactly a cursed form for her, she was able to use magic as well. She formed two spell circles as red translucent snakes were flying at the two. Lilith slashed across them and flew up and dived at Selene. The two clawed and fought another until Selene spat venom at Lilith's shoulder. Lilith got off of her as the venom on her skin was burning on her.

Selene was about to continue the attack when suddenly a wave of fire came at her. She got burned by her tail as Hipporit continued breathing fire at her. Selene spat venom at Hipporit as he dodged the attack and grabbed Selene by her tail, lifted her up and threw her off the bridge. The trio breathed heavily thinking it was over, but then Selene flew back up to the bridge with her staff.

She slithered at Hipporit at top speed and slashed across his waist. He grunted and held his wound as blood was dripping through his hand. She came at him again but now across his back, his chest and thigh.

Harpy Lilith: Sir!

Selene formed a spell circle with her staff and fired a magic blast at Lilith as she dodged. Seraphina used her slash wave attack at Selene, then formed a large spell circle letting out a large magic attack taking the form of a tiger roaring at Selene. It looks like she was hit by both attacks, but in the smoke Selene's venom spat at Seraphina's hand making her drop her staff and then the tail swept across Seraphina's feet, making her fall back.

Seraphina fell off the bridge as Lilith flew down to save her. Hipporit was left alone with Selene as she formed a spell circle and summoned a bow and arrow.

Hipporit: I failed you Selene. I failed you as a mentor.

Gorgon Selene: No. You failed by betraying me all those years ago.

Selene fired the red magic arrow at Hipporit with her bow as Hipporit's hand began to glow and threw a magic projectile to cancel the attack. Selene kept firing as the bow she used would instantly spawn a new arrow every time she used it. She fired continuously at him but now all he could do was dodge. The angler on his head began to glow and emitted a bright light which flashed at her eyes. Selene shielded her eyes as Hipporit blew fire from his trunk at her.

Selene slithered away from the fire and lunged at him. She wrapped around him and constricted him. Then she opened her mouth as her snake fangs showed and bit down onto Hipporit's shoulder. He yelled out at the pain as she produced venom in him. He breathed fire at her coils as she shrieked and loosened up. He broke out and grabbed her by her tail, spun her around and threw her at the wall and fell into the pit again. He breathed heavily as he held the wound on his shoulder. The venom was coursing through him quickly. He didn't have much time left. He knew this would be the end for him. Just then Lilith flew back up with Seraphina in her arms.

Harpy Lilith: Sir!

Hipporit: Li-Lilith I...

But then he felt something pierce through him from his back and out of his chest. It was a arrow that was shot by Selene who had made it back up with her staff.

Harpy Lilith: NOOO!

Hipporit collapsed to the ground. Lilith placed Seraphina down and kneeled down to Hipporit.

Harpy Lilith: Hipporit, no.

Hipporit: ( reaching up for her) Lilith...Lilith, it's okay...

Harpy Lilith: ( takes his hand) No please, just hang on.

Seraphina: We can take you to Matti just hang on.

Hipporit: No...no time. You have a mission to...to finish.

Harpy Lilith: But I can't I...I'm sorry I...

Hipporit: Don't be...I'm proud to have called you my luitenent...and my friend.

Lilith gasped as she felt his grip loosening and dies. Tears formed in Lilith's eyes as did Seraphina.

Harpy Lilith: Sir, no. No! Hipporit! No! ( sobs) No...

Selene slithered closer to the two.

Harpy Lilith: How could you?

Gorgon Selene: He deserved it.

Seraphina: You went through so much with him? Don't you have any shame?!

Gorgon Selene: It doesn't matter if he was my father. He's a traitorous rat.

Harpy Lilith: Don't you dare speak of him like that. What you did was unforgivable.

Lilith growled as Seraphina activates her feral mode.

Harpy Lilith: I will never forgive you for this.

Lilith roared as did Seraphina as the two charged at Selene.

We cut back to outside as the moon finally makes it to the sun. The moon and the sky turned into a blood red color as the draining spell activated. The coven heads that were excited suddenly didn't feel right as they felt a pain in their arm.

Terra: What?

Darius: No. We're too late.

The sigils on their arms began to glow as their magic was being drained right out of it and made it's way up into the sky and the same was happening to everyone else down below.

Terra: What is happening?! Raine, Belos is giving us paradise right?

Raine replied with a nod as Terra fell to the ground as did the other coven heads.

Thomas: Whoa, whoa, wait. What's going on? Ow, ow that hurts. Ow!

The other witches and coven scouts that were on the ground were also being effected as they screamed and ran for their lives, only for the abomitons to form shields and blocking the exits.

We see from the distance Alice witnessing what's going on with some binoculars.

Alice: No. It's happening.

Alador: Then the plan failed.

Alice: Alador the people are trapped!

Alador: Almost there and...done.

Alador activated the satellite dish as it sent out a signal, deactivating the abomitons in that area. Although the residents were free to run, most didn't make it far out since they were tiring out from the magic being drained.

Eda who was in the clutches of the abomiton who held her dropped her, but she was facing it worse. The draining spell with her curse was corrupting her whole body as she was in pain. If this kept up it would destroy her body. Archimedes saw but couldn't move as the venom would have spread faster. He looked at his leg as it was turning purple and making it's way to his body. Matti wasn't around and there was no one around to heal him. But he knew he had to help Eda. He reached for his scythe staff and looked at his leg. He yelled out and swiped down at his leg.

We then see the magic that was being drained making it's way into the skull and in another room was Keizer as he was receiving all the magic.

Keizer: Yes, yes! I can feel the power returning to me! At long last my return is near!

We then cut to Luz and the others making through a tunnel.

Luz: You sure it was okay to split up like that?

Matti: Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be alright.

They made it out of the tunnel and ended up in a large dark room.

King: How much farther do we need to go?

Dr. Cushing: I cannot allow you to go any further.

The room began to lit up as we see Dr. Cushing with four modified abomitons much like the one he used on Christa.

Luz: Who's that?

Hunter: Doc?

Hunter: Ah Golden Guard, it seems you're all better. How disappointing.

Mr. Hirata: Peter!

Dr. Cushing: Akihiko, it's been so long old friend. But I can't exactly say I'm happy to see you. Especially after I heard what you've been doing lately.

Mr. Hirata: Let us through Peter!

Dr. Cushing: I'm afraid I can't do that. You've been conspiring against us. How could you after the times we went through together.

Mr. Hirata: Everything we worked for was to study the effects of draining magic. That's why Belos had us revive the Basilisks, to study their abilities so he could replicate it.

Luz: Wait, so it was you. You're the one who tormented Vee.

Dr. Cushing: Vee? I'm sorry my dear, I don't know anyone named Vee.

Mr. Hirata: Number 5.

Dr. Cushing: Number 5, how could you know...so you did help the basilisks escape.

Mr. Hirata: Yes. We were experimenting on innocent creatures. One of them was killed in the process to make the basilisk gun.

Dr. Cushing: It's no wonder you quit and decided to go back teaching at Hexside. You ran to hide your tracks. But now this is where it ends for you all.

Using the remote control, Dr Cushing had the enhanced Abomitons aim their arm cannons at the group. They were ready to fight, but before anything could happen Dr. Cushing felt a pain in his wrist. He looks down at his wrist and see's his sigil glowing and his magic being drained.

Dr. Cushing: What's happening?

Dr. Cushing groans as he falls to the ground.

Dr. Cushing: What did you do to me?

Hunter: Nothing. This what Belos has planned for you, for us this whole time.

Mr. Hirata: It's the draining spell.

Luz: Then that means...Eda. We have to find Belos fast!

The group made there way through without a fight as the abomitons stood their motionless without the control. But then Mr. Hirata felt Dr. Cushing grab his ankle.

Dr. Cushing: I will...not be ignored like...like this.

Cushing placed his finger on a red button on the remote.

Luz: Mr. Hirata!

Mr. Hirata: Luz get away!

Dr. Cushing: If I go down I'm taking you with me!

Dr. Cushing presses the button which detonates the abomitons, blowing them up. Mr. Hirata and Dr. Cushing were caught in the blast as the explosion shook the whole area causing it to cave in. Rocks were coming down but a huge one was coming down Luz. Matti pushed her away into the other entrance with the others.

Luz and King: Matti!

Luz ran to the rock pile that blocked the way back.

Luz: Matti?

She then heard Matti's voice on the other side.

Matti: Luz, King are you there?

Luz: Yes, yes we're all here.

King: What about you?

Matti: I'm alright. A little hit on the head, but I'm okay.

Luz: And Mr. Hirata.

Matti: I'm going to look for him.

King: We cand dig you out.

Matti: No. That'll take too long, just keep going. You have your tracker right? I'll find another way to get back to you. If you find Belos contact the others first. But please be careful.

Luz: Okay, we'll see you soon.

We cut to the other side of the where Matti looking dirty from the dirt and debris as well as a cut on her head with a bit of blood as her Flit landed on her shoulder.

Matti: I'm okay Flit. Just a scratch. Let's find Mr. Hirata.

Matti looked around for a bit until she saw a hand from the rubble.

Matti: Hirata?

Matti ran over to him and removed the rocks. She was able to find him, but gasped when she saw the condition he was in.

Matti: Oh no.

We cut back to the fight with Lilith and Selene. Selene fired continously at Lilith and Seraphina. Lilith flew at Selene and knocked the bow off her hands and then clawed across her stomach. Selene hissed at her lunged at Lilith and began to constrict her. Lilith had no way out as she felt the bones in her body being crushed, coughing some blood in the process. But then Seraphina jumped onto her bit down ont Selene's tail. Selene screeched and let's Lilith go. Lilith was on her knees holding her sides as gasped for air. Seraphina guarded her as Selene came for her next.

Seraphina: You stay away from my girlfriend!

Gorgon Selene: Okay, I'll make it quick with you.

Selene spat venom at her to which Seraphina dodged. Running at her one all fours a magic aura formed around taking the form of a wild cat. Selene kept firing the bow and arrow at Seraphina but kept missing, the latter roared at Selene as she clawed her face. Selene grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground and tried to bite down on her shoulder. But before she did, Seraphina got her feet under her and kicked her off. She jumped onto Selene from behind and locked her arms around her neck. Seraphina chokes Selene as the latter tried to get her off but was quickly suffocating and fell down with Seraphina still locking onto her

But little did Seraphina know that Kaa was slithering towards her at an attempt to bite her. But as this was happening Lilith had got back up and saw what was happening. Kaa was about to bite Seraphina on her leg, but then Lilith came in and japped her claw down at the midsection of Kaa's body breaking him in two. Selene's eye's widened, sensing Kaa's death let out an emotional aura from her body forcing Seraphina off.

Gorgon Selene: NOOOO!

Selene gazed at Kaa who was now wood again and broken in half with his palisman essance leaking. She picked up his pieces and looked down with a disheartened look.

Gorgon Selene: Kaa my poor precious.

Selene angrily glared at Lilith. Selene formed her hands into snakes and stretched them at Lilith. One wrapped around Lilith and bit down onto her shoulder making her scream.

Seraphina: Lilith!

Selene set her eyes on Seraphina and used her free snake arm at Seraphina. The latter jumped on the arm and ran on top at her, however Selene used her tail and whipped her off. Seraphina was on the ground but before she could get up she screamed in agony as she felt the snake arm biting into her leg.

Harpy Lilith: Seraphina...ah...

Selene lifted up Seraphina and slammed her to the ground, breaking her leg. Seraphina crawled and moaned from the pain from her leg. Lilith watched as her girlfriend was being hurt. Selene had her snake arm ready to finish Seraphina off.

Selene: Say goodbye to your sweetheart.

But then Selene felt the snake arm holding Lilith moving as well as a growl. Lilith's eyes turned black as it seemed her curse was taking effect on her. She broke out of Selene's grasp and while still in her harpy mode acted more feral and dangerous as if she was in her raven beast form.

Seraphina: Lilith?

Gorgon Selene: Oh, are you mad at me for hurting your girlfriend?

Lilith replied with a roar.

Gorgon Selene: Alright, let's finish this.

Lilith roared and flew at Selene, she grabbed her by the arms and flew up ramming her into the ceiling of the room. She dropped her as Selene rubbed her head. She saw Lilith flying down at her and fired her bow and arrow at her. Lilith got hit in the shoulder but despite being hit kept going. She fired again missing a couple times until she grazed her waist. Lilith landed and took the arrow out of her shoulder. Selene spat venom at her, Lilith guarded herself with her arms and although the venom was burning her she still didn't stop and lunged at Selene. The two were fighting, clawing and biting one another, until she used her tail to wrap around Lilith's neck and started choking her.

Seraphina: Lilith!

Seraphina tried to crawl to her, but it was clearly useless for her as she was badly hurt. Selene brought Lilith closer to her face.

Gorgon Selene: All these years you always tried to be better than me. Always being one step ahead. Honestly I wish you weren't feral right now because I want to real you to die nice and slow, but I guess this will have to do. Once I'm done with you, Seraphina is next. Goodbye Lilith.

Selene opened up her mouth showing her fangs and was about to bite her to inject her venom. She went down and tried to bite her, but couldn't. She felt something stab through her stomach. Lilith's clawed hand had stabbed her. Selene made a gasping sound and grunted when Lilith twisted her hand in and pierced through her back. Lilith retracted her blood covered arm as Selene lost grip and fell off the bridge into the pit to her death.

Selene was gone but then Lilith turned her attention to Seraphina. Then Hooty finally emerged from the pit.

Seraphina: Hooty.

Hooty: I'm here! Sorry it took so long. It's a long way down and a long way to get back...Hoot?

Hooty saw Lilith in her harpy form but acting more monstrous.

Hooty: What's wrong with Lulu?

Seraphina: I think it's her curse. Lilith you can stop now. It's over.

Lilith didn't listen and closed in closer.

Seraphina: Lilith please! Listen to me!

Hooty stretched over to Lilith and wrapped around her as she struggled.

Hooty: Lulu, stop! It's me!

Lilith: Argh-hoo...hoo...Hootsifer?

Hooty: Yes Lulu...please come back. We need you! Siri's hurt.

Lilith: Sera...Seraphina. ( eyes turn back to normal) Seraphina!

Lilith ran over to Seraphina and kneeled down to her.

Lilith: Oh your leg.

Seraphina: I'll live. But your hurt too.

Lilith: I'm okay. I'm sorry you had to see that. I don't know what came over. But she won't bother us again.

Lilith looked over the body of Hipporit.

Seraphina: I'm so sorry. He was a good demon.

Lilith: He was. Come we let's find the others.

After pulling Hooty out and placing him back on her back, Lilith put Seraphina's arm around her shoulders and tried to help her up and carried her. Though she was a bit wobbly too stand due to her injuries but Hooty acted as her crutch as the three of them continued on their path to find the others.

We now cut back to Luz and Hexsquad making their way out of the tunnel into another area, although this time it was something more unsettling that they stopped.

Hunter: What? Why are we stopping?

But when Hunter entered his eyes widened with a horrific look. The whole area was full of piles of bones and skulls with Golden Guard masks.

Luz: Hunter?

His body shook whle he was hyperventilating.

Hunter: All these...all these guards. He just...this where he threw them all?

Luz: Hunter come on.

Hunter: How could he just throw them all like trash?

Luz: Hunter.

Willow: Look at me. Breathe and don't look at them.

Alex: Should I punch him to snap out of it?

Willow: No, don't punch him.

Gus: Come on. Just keep facing forward.

Amity: We're right here beside you, just concentrate.

Luz: Come on Hunter. Christa needs us.

Hunter: R-Right, okay.

The group walked through the Golden Guard graveyard. They looked around a bit horrified while Hunter did his best to not look. It wasn't long after until they found a stair way.

Amity: Look, stairs.

Willow: And there's a bridge up there.

They looked up and saw the upper level with the bridge.

Hunter: Let's just get up there and away from here.

Alex: Wait what's that floating up there?

They also saw the magic that was being drained floating up there like a stream.

Gus: Is that the draining spell?

King: Then that means...

Luz: We're here.
