Chapter 73: Thanks to Them Part 2

Coming Out

Luz and her friends were in the living room watching " Destroy All Monster," as they were now watching the scene of Godzilla, Rodan and Manda attacking Tokyo.

Hunter: Okay am I supposed to be convinced?

Luz: What do you mean?

Hunter: We've fought monsters multiple times. That's clearly just a guy in a costume, that's a marionette and that's just a puppet. And how are the military missing every shot? They're causing more damage than the monsters.

Luz: Hey that " guy" playing the king of monsters was a legend. This suitmation at it's finest. It's a lost art.

Alex: I'm more amazed with the craftmanship of the buildings here. But it's so sad to see them destroyed like that.

Willow: That's kinda the point though.

Alex: Still.

Gus: I have to say, the music is really good.

Hunter: Okay fine, but why doesn't the dialogue match the lip movement?

Vee: It's dubbed in English.

They continued watching as Mothra emerged out the subway and joined the attack.

Amity: ( holds Luz's hand) Well I think it was a good choice for movie night Batata.

Luz: ( rests her head on shoulder) Oh Ami, I knew you'd like this one.

Just then Camila enters with a bowl of popcorn.

Camila: You kids doing alright?

Once she entered however Luz got off Amity and let's go of her, confusing the latter.

Luz: Uh yeah Mom. We just made it to the best part.

Camila: Oh your Dad loved this movie, said it was his favorite as a kid. Anyway here's more popcorn.

Luz: Thanks Mom.

Camila leaves the room as the others had some of the popcorn.

Amity: Luz is something wrong?

Luz: What do you mean?

Amity: I've noticed the past couple days whenever I just want to be with you, you kind of push me away whenever your mom is in the room.

Luz: Um well...you see uh... excuse us for a moment.

Willow: Want us to pause?

Luz: Oh no, no keep watching the next part is kinda slow.

Luz and Amity enter the bathroom to talk.

Amity: What's going on? Are you...ashamed of dating me in front of her?

Luz: What? No! No, no, no, no. Never, come on Ami. It's just that, I never told Mom about you and me.

Amity: Why?

Luz: Well, she doesn't really know that I'm bisexual. You see, same sex relationships maybe common back in the Boiling Isles, here though while it's not uncommon but there some people who don't approve of this. I guess it just depends on the kind of people or their beliefs.

Amity: Is Camila like that?

Luz: I don't know. I've been too scared to tell her.

Amity: I know but you need to tell her. I don't want our relationship to be a secret behind her back.

Luz: I know. You're right. Just not sure how.

Amity: We'll think of it together. Come on let's go back to the others.

Amity took her hand and lead her back.

Later that night.

The guys made there way downstairs ready to turn in.

Alex: That was cool movie.

Hunter: Eh, I mean it focused too much on the humans and some of the monsters made only brief cameos. Also what was the whole point of the fire dragon thing? They already defeated the evil three headed dragon so what was the point of the fire dragon? It wasn't even a monster. What was the movie 5 minutes short?

Gus: Dude stop being such a hater.

Hunter: Just saying I would have done it better.

Alex: Whatever. I call the couch!

Hunter: Oh no, you got the couch last time. It's my turn now.

Gus: No way. It's my turn.

Alex: Okay how about we settle this with punchies.

Hunter: Punchies?

Alex: Yeah, whoever punches the hardest wins. I go first.

Alex punches Hunter in the arm.

Hunter: Ow!

Alex: You're out! Gus you're next.

Gus: Hold on! I never agreed to this.

But Alex punches Gus in the arm, a little too hard though as it sent Gus flying into a closet door.

Gus: Ow! That was way too hard!

Alex: Sorry wasn't meant to go that hard. But since you lost and you guys obviously can't punch as hard, I win so I get the couch.

Hunter: No! That's not how we're going to settle this.

Alex: Alright fine, how about an arm wrestle?

Hunter: No.

Alex: Flexing contest.

Hunter: No. Something we can all do without you winning easily.
Alex: Okay fine about a staring contest.

As Gus got up he saw the closet door open. He peeked inside as what he saw interested him. The scene shifts to Hunter and Alex in the middle of their staring contest.

Alex: Blink, blink, blink, blink.

Hunter: Would you stop it.

Alex: You don't have a chance against me. I'm a pro at this game.

Hunter: Okay fine I... look it's Willow!

Alex: Where?

Hunter: Ha! You lost.

Alex: You cheated!

Hunter: You tried to cheat first!

Gus: Hey guys check this out.

Hunter and Alex go to Gus to see what he was looking at. It was a closet full of old sci fi merchandise and things that looked like from the 90's.

Gus: Cool! More human stuff.

Hunter: Gus I said it's just stuff.

Alex: But what kind is this?

The three looked inside and explored. Hunter found a box of what looked like to be Super Nintendo and shoe box of games like Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country and Mega man X.

Hunter: Weird. These look old.

Alex found another box and he found what appeared to be two Kenner Beast Wars toys of Optimus Primal and Megatron in their beast modes.

Alex: Ooh, these look nice.

Alex pressed the button on the back of Primal's toy as missile sprang out of the shoulders.

Alex: Whoa! Ok that is cool.

Gus: Whoa look at this.

Gus found book and showed it to the others with title " Cosmic Frontiers."

Gus: Cosmic Frontiers. A story set in the stars.

Hunter: Why would anybody want to go up there?

Alex: I don't know, but those uniforms look cool. Let's read it.

Gus: But it's late though.

Alex: Come on just one chapter.

Gus: Okay fine. Just one.

Gus opened the book as the three huddled up as Gus began reading.

The next day.

The girls were upstairs in Luz's room as Luz was talking to Camila.

Luz: Mom, there's something I need to say. But Amity is more than my friend. She's actually my girlfriend and not just any girlfriend.

Amity: I'm her awesome girlfriend and I love her very much.

Luz: I hope it's okay with you.

Camila: Oh Luz. Of course it's okay. I love you no matter what?

Camila hugs her but Luz breaks it off.

Luz: Okay no, no. That wasn't a good enough confession.

Camila then transforms revealing to actually be Vee.

Vee: Oh come on. This is the fifth one.

Luz: I'm sorry but I wasn't feeling it.

Amity: It's alright. Let's try it again.

Willow: What are you two so afraid of? You think she'll be like your mom Amity?

Amity: Oh no, my mom was terrible. I don't think Camila would try to secretly kill me. But maybe we shouldn't bring up the fact that my mom tried to kill you a few times.

Luz: Or the time you almost had me dissected the first time we met.

Amity: That too.

Vee: I'm sure Camila would be fine with you two. I mean she found out I wasn't Luz but she still let me stay.

Luz: Yeah that's a good point.

Camila: ( calling out) Luz! Can you come down.

Luz: Oh uh coming mama!

Willow: Ok this is your chance.

Luz: Yeah, here we go Amity.

Amity nods as the two go downstairs.

Camila: Oh Luz, you want to come with me to get dinner.

Luz: Oh yeah, yeah sure. But before we do. I have something to say.

Amity: Yes. Camila we...

But then Amity was cut off when a small toy missile hits her in the forehead.

Amity: Ow! Who did that?

The scene shifts to Alex and Gus who were playing with the Beast Wars toys and the shot came from Alex's Optimus Primal figure with Hunter sitting by them and reading Cosmic Frontiers.

Alex: Oh sorry. That was meant for Gus.

Camila: Uh...where did you get those?

Gus: In the closet downstairs.

Hunter: I hope it's alright Camila. It's just this a really cool book. Like I can't believe O'Bailey is a clone of the enemy.

Gus: Whoa dude! Spoiler alert.

Hunter: Hey Luz, what do you know about this book?

Luz: Oh uh, I don't know. I guess it was my Dad's.

Camila: Yup it was definitely Manny's. ( chuckles nervously)

Alex: Hey, hey check this out.

Alex flips the switch on the back as the figure began pounding it's chest.

Alex: That is sick.

Camila: You know that can transform into a robot.

Alex: What?

Gus: No.

Camila: Yes. ( takes the figure and transforms it) Just turn the waist, lift the shoulder pads up and bring the head down and viola.

Camila shows the boys Optimus Primal now in robot mode.

Gus and Alex: Whoa!

Alex: It's beautiful.

Gus: It's like two toys in one. How'd you know to do it.

Camila: Oh uh...um it just came to me?

Gus: Cool. ( shows Megatron) Hey can this one transform too?

Camila: Oh yeah like this.

Luz and Amity however looked annoyed that their confession was interrupted.

Camila: Ok what were you about to say?

Luz: Um, I...you know what we forgot.

Amity: Uh yeah we did.

Camila: Oh well anyway Luz can you come.

Luz: Yeah mom, let's go.

Camila: I'll get the car started.

Camila goes outside.

Luz: I'll try and tell her myself on the car ride.

Amity: Alright. See you soon.

Later.

Luz and Camila were in the car on their way home after picking up the food.

Camila: You think this food is okay. I wish I knew how to make demon food.

Luz: Oh they'll like it. Believe me I had to eat all sorts of demon food. Some of it was kinda deadly but I made sure to eat the safer kind. So uh Mom.

Camila: Yes baby?

Luz: So uh...love?

Camila: What about love?

Luz: Love is a beautiful thing right?

Camila: Uh yes.

Luz: People who fall in love can happen right.

Camila: Well yes they can.

Luz: And with any kind of person right. Like even if this person likes someone who is the same gender.

Camila: What are you saying Luz?

Luz: Okay um...see what I'm trying to say is...look out!

Camila looks back at the road and brakes as the police officer was stopping them and redirecting them from a car accident as a woman with her young daughter was giving her police report to another officer. It looked like the car had swerved into a tree.

Woman: He just came out of nowhere. I didn't run him over but that homeless man really spooked us. Will my insurance cover this?

Girl: But mommy it wasn't a man. It was a monster.

The Noceda's drive away not noticing within the trees a pair of yellow glowing eyes was watching them drive off only to disappear in the darkness.

Later that night.

Luz was face down on her bed moaning.

Luz: I couldn't do it.

Amity: ( rubbing her back) It's alright.

Willow: Come on Luz. Look just go out there and just say it. Rip it off fast like a band aid.

Luz: You're right Willow. Let's just get it over with.

Scene cuts to Luz walking to Camila in the kitchen.

Luz: Hi mom.

Camila: Hi Luz.

Luz: ( leaves kitchen) Bye mom.

Camila: Uh, bye Luz.

Scene cuts back to Luz's room.

Luz: Yeah no that's not going to work. Ugh, why is this so hard? Maybe we should just keep this relationship secret.

Amity: But I want to be open with it. I don't feel right keeping secrets behind your mom's back.

Luz: I know but I don't know what else to do.

Vee: ( on laptop) Hey Luz, I don't mean to interrupt but I'm having trouble with the internet.

Luz: Hold on Vee. Let me troubleshoot that.

Luz checks the error on her laptop and gets it working again.

Vee: Sweet thanks. I've been trying to watch this tribute video, but you guys really need to update the Wi-Fi here.

Luz: Video? ( gasps) Video that's it!

Amity: What?

Luz: I know I how we can tell my mom.

The next day.

Camila was in the kitchen with some coffee, until Luz and Amity came in with the laptop.

Luz: Morning Mama.

Camila: Morning Luz, Amity.

Luz: Mom, I have something I've been meaning to tell you but I think it's better if I show you.

Amity: We're hoping with what we show you, you approve.

Camila: Oh well, okay show me.

Luz looks at Amity who gives her a nod. Luz presses play on the video. It opened up with the text " Lumity Studios Presents" as music was playing in the background and showed a slide show of photos of Luz and Amity over the few months they spent together in the Boiling Isles, showing pictures of them at Grom, their moments at their own Azura book club, their looks and posing together at the Bonesborough Brawl and some of their dates sitting at there tree. The video ends with a picture of the two together and an arrow pointing at Luz saying " Hi I'm Bi."

The video ends with Camila with her jaw dropped and the two were unsure what to make of her thoughts.

Luz: Uh Mom.

Camila: Is this for real Mija?

Luz: ( sighs) Yes Mom. Amity is my girlfriend, scratch that my awesome girlfriend. I've been trying to tell you for a while but I didn't know how. I hope you won't think bad of me for this and...

But then Camila started to squeal and form a huge smile on her face.

Camila: My daughter has a girlfriend!

Camila got up and hugged both Luz and Amity.

Luz: So you're okay with us? With me?

Camila: Oh baby I'm proud of you for telling me. Coming out can be scary thing but you don't have to keep any secrets from me. I love you the way you are. You making friends was my first reassurance you'd be alright but having a girlfriend is big.

Amity: And I love your daughter very much. I wouldn't be the witch I am today without her. I'm happy you can accept us.

Camila: As long as you're good to my Luz.

Amity: I'll always will. She's my Batata.

Luz: And she's my Ami.

Camila: Oh nicknames I love it.

The three exit the kitchen where the others were.

Luz: Everyone, we're officially open with our relationship.

Alex: Oh great. Glad your mom accepts you two despite the fact Amity tried to have you dissected and her crazy mom tried to have you killed a few times.

Camila: Wait what?

Luz and Amity: Alex!

Alex: Oops, busted!

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. Some of you have been asking for this one and sorry if it wasn't anything too special, but I did the best I could considering the only thing to work on was a montage from the episode. Plus some build up for later parts of this arc.

Also some of you might be wondering did I see leaked Owl House Pilot? Yes I did, it's not animated ( it's all storyboards) but is fully voice acted and acts as an alternate retelling of the first episode but the biggest difference is that it actually features Amity ( being a foreign exchange student in Luz's human school) and Lilith ( principle of Hexside) and has some different plot elements like how traveling to and back from the human realm is actually more common and Eda I don't think is cursed but has a different kind of curse I think at then end. It's an interesting watch which makes me wonder how the show would have played out in that scenario and some say its better than he actual first episode but I don't agree. For a number of reasons. It drops too much on us for a pilot, I think it was better to save Amity and Lilith a little later Amity was a little too mean here ( I know she was before but I don't know this one rubbed me the wrong way) there was no mention of Luz wanting to learn magic for her reason to stay ( plus Camila is not here so she must be having a heart attack her daughter is missing. I prefer the trio faced Warden Wrath, Lilith just being part of Emperor's Coven and Bump being Principle, and I just liked the show's version the way it is. I can say the same for Amphibia's pilot as well. An interesting watch, I prefer the show's version mainly for Sprig's look and voice ( though nothing against the Pilot's voice since it's the same guy who voiced Flapjack and Gideon).

But what I hate hearing is that there some people who say we we robbed. No we were not. We got the show, we got a good amount of Lumity and you wouldn't be saying that if this never came. Pilots are never 100 the same. The only thing we were robbed was a full season 3. You want to make it worse? How about we ended the show on season 2 cliffhanger. You want that, because that's what happened with Sonic Satam.
