Epilogue
Artemis
Queen Artemis sat in between Queen Extinction and Queen Asylum. Queen Azule had purposefully put Queen Extinction and Queen Borialis on opposite sides of the Queen's Table, for obvious reasons. The Shieldwing had a haunting look towards the Duelwing. Queen Azule was sitting at the front and next to her were Queen Topaz and Queen Thunder. They were both adorned in the lightest jewelry they had. The last queen was Queen Granite. She was glistening in light silver chains, wrapping their way around her neck and horns.
"The Queen's council can start." Queen Azule said.
"Why have you brought us here Azule? We have problems to fix in our kingdoms." Extinction growled.
"Bite your tongue," Topaz defended Azule. Extinction hissed but quieted herself.
"I have brought you here because of an urgent matter. One more important than a little feud." Azule looked at Extinction. "A couple of weeks ago, dragons came to my kingdom-,"
"Dragons? Is this what this is about?" Extinction shot up.
"Do We need to restrain you? Or can you be quiet?" Borealis snapped at her.
"Enough." Demanded Granite. Out of all the queens she was the oldest. Therefore she had the respect of all the queens. Extinction and Borealis looked hurt for a moment before sitting back down. "Please Azule. Continue."
Azule took a deep breath. "Yes this is about dragons." Extinction opened her mouth then shut it with a look from Granite. "These were not our dragons."
Everyone looked confused. Artemis was the first to ask. "What do you mean 'not our dragons'?"
"They were from Pyrrhia. A continent. A different continent." Azule said slowly.
"How is that possible?" Extinction genuinely looked surprised.
"I do not know. But they have seers as well. And one of them had a vision of a war. One larger than yours. One that involves all of us. And Alistair." Azule shivered as she said his name.
"A war you say?" a voice said from the shadows. "Seers? My my my."
Artemis shot her eyes over to the corner where she could see a silver dragon come into view. He had red stained talons and a silver twisted crown atop his head.
"Restrain them," he said to another dragon.
Before anyone could react, the stone chairs they were sitting on began to grow stone vines that wrapped around their talons, locking them in place. Artemis struggled to get free but it was no use. She squinted at the other dragon. He was a dark silver, almost black with dull grey eyes, hinted with pure amusement. He was an animus. Alistair had an animus.
"Thank you for letting me know about these… intruders." he hissed the last part. "I'll quickly dispose of them soon. But for you all. Hm. I think you'll learn your lesson here."
He came up to Azule who was sitting defiantly. She didn't look scared, but Artemis knew she was. Alistar was larger than her. He was almost larger than Borealis who was a large dragon already.
Alistair held Azules' horns. "You. You Called this meeting. I think you should be the one to pay." he said before twisting her head with a sickening crack. Everyone in the room gasped in fear.
Artemis held back tears as Azules' body went limp.
She was dead.
He had killed her. Alistair.
He was the end of all of them.
Ash
Ash ran through the jungle, careful to avoid the large dragon eating plants that infested the forest. He didn't dare fly through this part. Here there were giant snapping dragon traps that could snatch up any dragon out of the sky. His safest course of action was to run back to camp.
"Incoming friendly." A dragon called, a few lengths ahead of him. Two large wooden doors opened as he reached them. At the top were two dragons with spears guarding the entrance.
"Ash, have you any news?" a blue silver dragon asked.
"Yes. I need to speak with the Queen Immediately." he said in a hurried voice.
"Go. I'll tell the general your back." She ran away from him towards a large tree.
Ash began to run again towards the largest tree in the camp. He blazed past dragons who shouted in surprise, not even apologizing for bumping into them. He couldn't. He didn't have time to. This was far more important than saying sorry. He opened his wings to fly up to the top level of the tree, the makeshift throne room they had created for their queen.
He crashed down in front of two guards that guarded the entrance of the throne room. "Whoa there. Reason for entry?" One asked.
"Message for the queen." One of the guards looked at him. "About HIM."
The guards immediately let him through. He followed the lit up crystals they had acquired from the crystalwings. In front of him was a large room. A table with maps took up most of the room with a small throne in a corner. A large silver dragon was standing over the table. A small light crown swirled around gems stood atop her head. She stood regal and proud as she scowled at the map.
"Your majesty?" He bowed Quickly.
"Ash. Please tell me you have news." She looked at him.
"I do but…" he stopped.
"What? What is it?" She took fast steps towards hom.
"Queen Azule is dead. Alistair found out about the Queen's Meeting. He has the others trapped." The Queen's look was terrified yet furious. "That's not all. There are dragons here. Dragons that have come from a distant land to stop a war from coming."
She looked at him. "We must find these dragons before he finds them."
The Queen walked towards the exit, extending her wings out. "What do you mean find them? They could be anywhere."
She flew down the tree and Ash trailed behind her. "We'll search for them."
At the same time a dragon came towards them. He wore silver armor and held a sharp spear. "Your majesty."
"Round up the troops. We need to start searching the entire continent." she said loudly so other dragons could hear her.
"May I ask why?" he tilted his head.
"There are dragons you must find. They are not from here. They are from a different continent." she stopped as dragons began to gasp and whisper. "They are the key to stopping Alistair."
"We will fight for you, Queen Lillith." The dragon with armor thudded his spear on the ground twice. Several more thuds came as others began to mimic his movements. "Everyone round up," he called out. "We start searching immediately."
"General," Lillith said in a more quiet voice. "You must know. Alistair will be after them as well. And he is willing to kill to get them. He has already killed Queen Azule."
"I understand my queen." he bowed before heading over to a large group of dragons in armor with spears.
"We could win this." Lilith breathed.
"I know we can." Ash sat next to her.
Echo
Light glistened in the pools of water as he wadded into one. It was cold and chilled his aching talons. He had been working all day to perfect a spell that he only just figured out. It couldn't chill his brain though. Something felt wrong to him. He had no idea what it was. It was like an itch that wouldn't go away.
He looked over when he heard talon steps walking towards him. "Echo, we must go. The council wants to meet with us."
He let out a sigh and trailed after her. The council. He wished to be a part of the council someday. Maybe this was them recognizing him as a worthy apprentice. It was highly unlikely. He had taken extra classes to learn the special magic the council members used. It wasn't like the other magics. This one was the most powerful.
Dragons glanced at them as they passed through the council hall. Crystals studded the walls and from them hung paintings and weavings of the council members from now and before. He stopped at one. It was the Queen two thousand years ago. She was a council member, as are all queens, and Echo saw himself in her.
He looked at the pendant around his neck. It was a dragon wrapped around an amethyst spire. His mother had given it to him before she passed away of illness. It stored the magic he uses. He gripped it in one talon and continued on walking. Soon they came to a large archway revealing a large room with a large round table. Several dragons were sitting there, including the Queen.
"Echo. Belment. Thank you both for coming." the queen said in a soft voice. Her eyes were a pale yellow gold and her smile was slightly crooked.
"Your majesty." Belment and Echo bowed.
"We need your help." one of the council members stood up. He was old and had a torn wing. "Something is coming. Something terrible. Something we need to intervene with."
"But we only intervene if it's an emergency." Echo looked at him.
"It is an emergency." the queen said. Her eyes were filled with worry. "A war is coming. Something that will wreak havoc over all the continents."
Echo looked at her. Nothing in history had involved the three continents together. The Crystal Massacre had happened in Grairokora. The Scorching happened in Pyrriah and moved to Pantala. The Magicwings had intervened during both, pushing the heroes in the right direction. They hadn't helped with the Darkstalker incident. The Jade winglet seemed to have it handled.
"We are assigning you both, Buma and Fenri to help stop this. You are looking for a specific group of dragons." A crystal from the queen's charms glowed brightly. Images of dragons came into view. "These dragons are the key to stopping this. Find the Nightwing. She had the vision." it stopped glowing and the image disappeared.
"Do not fail us." the old dragon said in a gruff tone. "If we do not stop this, it would mean the end of all dragons."
"We will not fail, your majesty." Echo bowed deeply. He took those words seriously. He would not fail. He would fight till his dying breath.
"You must go now. Grairokora is at least a day's flight from here." The queen urged them.
Echo left quickly. He was being sent on a mission. He was going to visit one of the continents. This was his time to show the council what he could do. He just wished he could do it without any deaths. But death was inevitable. Dragons had to die to fix what had been broken. He looked up at the fake sky. It was dark and stars were beginning to appear here and there.
He could do this.
The End
Authors Note
Thank you all so much for reading this story. I have been working on this for a while and I'm proud to say it's finished. That's not to say there's not more. I will be writing book two, but that might not be for a while. I may take a break and try to keep up with school for a while. I'm not entirely sure about it all. If you have any feedback or suggestions please let me know. I'd be happy to hear your words. I hope all of you enjoyed the book and I hope I go on to making more stories you like.
