Chapter 24: I'll go all the way, part 2.
To get to the third floor quickly Goebbels used one of the two elevators; she didn't want to go up the stairs right now. When she reached her destination, she opened the door. She found herself in an office furnished with deco furniture and with some paintings hanging on the walls. Sitting at a desk was a girl with short black hair and brown eyes, intent on staring at a laptop, next to which was a large open bag of potato chips. The dark-haired girl noticed that Globus looked grim. The song Blue Moon, by Frank Sinatra, rang in the air.
"I thought I said you to go to hell! Hilda does not want subversive material on board, and I don't want my nervousness to increase. For the last time: brings your fat ass out of this building! " She said the latter, furious.
"Is this how you welcome your guests?" Goebbels asked.
Globus looked up from the computer and, noting who was the interlocutor of her, changed hostile attitude to friendly.
"Goebbels ... Apologize to the welcome, but I thought I was that damned hooligan. You know, that Naruto fan. "
"I had understood."
"Take a seat!" She invited her indicating the chair in front of the table.
Goebbels sat down.
"So, what do I owe your visit to?" Globus asked her.
"You manage the internal section of the Gestapo again, right?"
"Right."
Goebbels snorted.
"I would like you to start an investigation."
"Against whom?"
"Scarlett Johnson and Gloria Navarro."
Globus looked puzzled.
"Should these two names tell me something?"
Goebbels looked at her in surprise.
"Don't you know anything about what happened yesterday?"
"I know that two Kursk spies introduced themselves on board and that, in their attempt to escape, they almost invested Eva."
"Nothing else?"
The girl behind the desk shook her head.
"No, just that. Did they save her?"
"Yup."
Globus squeezed her head slightly, then clicking something on the laptop monitor. A new song rang in the air.
"Why do you want me to investigate them?"
"They clandestinely embarked on board, and yet in less than 24 hours the student council admitted them to our school, in addition enlisting them in the foreign legion with the role of chariot commanders."
That answer left Globus stunned.
"So, suddenly? Without even subjecting them to routine exams?" She asked in amazement.
"No ... And there's more: those two are identical to Kay, commander of the Saunders panzerfahren team, and to El, his equal in the Blue Division. And they wear uniforms from those schools. "
Globus considered.
"Saunders and Blue Division ... They're not European, right?"
"Japanese. Yet, during the admission ceremony, Hilda said that those two are from the El Alamein and Invincible Armada academies, who have different uniforms. "
"Do you smell burnt?"
Goebbels nodded.
"And strong, too."
"Why don't you turn to Himmler, or at least Heydrich?"
"Heydrich is absent, and I can't trust Himmler ... Indeed, the entire student council."
"Ah, no? For what reason?"
"Because those three know more than they tell us. And I intend to find out what they are hiding. "
Globus hesitated.
"I cannot start investigations without the authorization of one of the two. If I do this and they catch me they'll make me wear a striped uniform with a red triangle on it. You know what that means." The girl said, intimidated.
"If you act discreetly, no one will find out. I just need you to have a couple of your agents supervise the fledglings and seek information about them. "
"What kind of information?"
"If they really are who they say they are, for starters. So, will you help me?"
There and then the dark-haired girl hesitated. As far as she knew, Goebbels was simply paranoid and envious; and even if the suspicions of her were well founded, the student council was involved, that is, the supreme authority of the school. Stepping on the toes of only one of its members was tantamount to voluntarily ingesting cyanide.
However, if I play my cards right, maybe I might be able to investigate without getting caught.
She thought.
"Okay, I'll try to find out something. I don't have the means of the cyber espionage section, but I can still find out something through my Facebook contacts. I guarantee you that neither Heydrich nor Himmler will know. "
A broad smile formed on Goebbels's face.
"I will be eternally grateful."
"However, you will have to be patient ... The final of the tournament is upon us, and after today's incident I will have to reinforce the surveillance on board, to avoid new intrusions."
"I'm not in a hurry."
Having said that she stood up.
"Now I have to go."
"To resent us." Globus greeted her, raising his right hand in greeting.
Once in the hall, Goebbels let out a sigh.
I did the dive ... Now I just have to dive in and discover how deep the abyss is. I will go to the end of this matter, how true it is that my name is Magda!
She thought, determined.
