The group continued to search for Mikey as they headed deeper into the caves. They used their flashlights to help light their way in the dark. "Mikey! Mikey, where are you?!" Yuuki shouted.
"Maybe, we should turn back and go through the other cave?" April suggested.
"Maybe. Maybe not. We've no way of knowing. Let's just hope he went this way." Donnie said. "But, then again, maybe we ought to hope that he didn't come this way." Donnie shined his light down, showing them what he had found. In front of them were piles of nuclear barrels belonging to the government.
"Aw, man, what are we getting ourselves into?" Raph questioned.
Mikey slowly backed away from the wolves as they snarled at him, inching closer and closer. "My chucks would come really in handy right about now." Mikey gulped. Mikey quickly scrambled when a wolf almost snapped at his ankle.
"Back off! This is one turtle that's not on the menu, today!" Mikey shouted at the growling snarling pack of wolves. As he backed up some more, Mikey bumped the back of his head on a long piece of stalactite that was hanging from the ceiling above. "Ow!"
It broke off in half, whacking Mikey on the top of his head, knocking him out cold.
Alopex woke up and slowly at up in bed, only to be pushed down, gently. Beside her was another female wolf, who was watching over her while Alopex slept.
"Don't push yourself. Remember that you're still recovering from your injuries." She said softly. Alopex looked at the widow to see that it was day and saw the sun shining through the room. "How long was I out?"
"About a few hours." The wolf told her.
"Where's Mokoshan?" Alopex asked her.
"He's outside tending to the herd." Alopex slowly pushed herself up and sat on the edge of the bedside. "I need to talk to him."
"I suppose it'll be okay for you to get some fresh air instead of being cooped up in this room, especially for the babies." Alopex eyes widen in shock, staring at the wolf, trying to understand what she had just said and blinked.
"Babies?" She smiled at Alopex and nodded.
"Yes. You're having twins. Congratulations!" Alopex shook her head in disbelief. She was going to be a mother and Mikey was going to be a father. The more she thought the more Alopex began to worry. She wondered how her babies would look like when they are born. Would they be ugly like her? Be ridiculed for being different...
But there were people who didn't treat her like an outcast. People who cared for her. Mokoshan, Usagi, Gen, Master Splinter, April, Casey, Leo, Raph, Donnie, Venus, Mona, Yuuki, and Mikey. Mikey...Alopex wondering what he was thinking or going through right now. She misses him so much.
When she first sees Mikey, she was going to tell him.
The wolf helped Alopex up to her feet and helped walked her to the door to leave the room and took her outside. Alopex walked over to Mokoshan who was feeding the caribou by the fence.
"So? You keep these caribou penned up. Then you've domesticated them?" Alopex asked.
"Up to a point. They're for emergency use, should the winter be particularly harsh or should the wild herds migrate too close to the world of man. Thereby preventing our hunting them safely, without the fear of being discovered." Mokoshan explained.
"So, your village has never been seen by humans?" Alopex asked him.
"That depends. The ancient people know of our existence. But the newer ones don't." Mokoshan replied.
"The ancients?" Alopex questioned.
"The natives, Aleut, Indians. We share a common heritage in that our ancestors all came to this land from across the seas, long ago." Mokoshan told her.
"If you don't mind me asking, did your people come from Y'Lyntius?" Alopex asked him. Mokoshan's eyes widened.
"That was a dark time for our people. Yes, we were slaves. As well as many others. When the revolt happened, we managed to escape on ships that we stole. When we came to the new land, we settled hoping for a new life. That's when we were discovered by the ancients, who revered us as spirits. They taught us the ways of the land in order to help us defend ourselves and survive. They taught us magic in order to elude our enemies. From time to time, I have used such magic to go to other worlds, a place called the Battle Nexus, where warriors compete against each other. However, there was one in particular, I was fond of.
There was a woman that I had met. Her fur red like the changing season of the autumn leaves. She was beautiful. However, her village did not approve of me, an outsider from another world. So, for both of our safety, I left. We never saw each other again." He finished his story. Alopex shook her head in disbelief and looked at Mokoshan in surprise.
"I don't believe this. That woman you're telling me about in the story. She was mother." She told him. Mokoshan's eyes widened.
"You are her daughter? No wonder your scent was familiar like hers. You're scent it's almost similar to mine as well. You're my daughter." Alopex eyes widen, and she took a step back in shock.
"Y-You're...You're my-"
"Alopex!" Mokoshan caught her in his arms. Alopex smiled as she looked up at him.
"I think I need to get some more rest."
"Here, let me take you back inside." Mokoshan said.
"Hold it right there!" The two heard a crash from the window above them and saw Mikey land on the ground.
"Mikey!" Alopex cried out in shock, surprised to see him.
"Get away from her! I'm taking Alopex back with me!"
The group finally made it to the end of the of cave, reaching the outside. The bright light blinded them as they stepped out and they decided to rest for a bit. "We've finally made it outside. Now we just need to find Mikey's trail again, hopefully he went this way." Venus said.
"Does anyone get a bad feeling about those nuclear barrels?" Yuuki asked.
"I think you're about to get your answer, Yuuki. Look!" Donnie said. Everyone saw dead overgrown trees with twisted branches scattered all over.
"Then this...This is where the government mixed the waste into the soil to see what the results would be. If this is what it did to the forest around here, I don't want to know how it affected the wildlife."
"A-Ali?" Mikey murmured. He groaned and opened his eyes. His vision was blurry as it tried to adjust to the dim room. Mikey's eyes widen seeing a figure in front of him. "Alopex!" Mikey heard a laugh and he blinked again to see a female wolf that wasn't Alopex.
"Alopex? Hmm, no, not quite." The wolf woman, smirked, looking down at Mikey as she sat by the bed side. "My name is Revyen. I hope you don't mind my taking the liberty of undressing you and bringing you here to my bedroom." She reached out to touch him, but Mikey grabbed the woman's wrist, stopping her.
"Sorry, I'm taken. In fact, I've about had enough with wolves and wolf people." Mikey growled. "How about you tell me where I can find Alopex and the two of us can leave. Now."
Revyen blinked in surprise and pulled her hand back then stood up and walked over to the window, gesturing to it. "Very well. You can see her right outside this window."
Mikey got up from the bed. "Sure. This better not be another trick."
"Really. Look for yourself, Alopex is right outside." Mikey's eyes widen as he looked out the window, spotting Alopex. But she wasn't alone. "With Mokoshan."
"Hold it!" Mikey shouted, as he jumped through the window, breaking it.
"Mikey!" Alopex cried out in shock. Mikey narrowed his eyes at Mokoshan, who was staring at him, surprised, as well.
"Give Alopex back right now! I knew I shouldn't have trusted an overgrown chihuahua like you!" Mikey shouted.
"Mikey, wait! You don't understand, he's-" Alopex tried to speak but Mikey interrupted her, staring down the wolf alpha.
"I understand plenty. I may not be as sophisticated as you, but if you don't quit putting the moves on Alopex, I'm going to have to go ninja on you!"
As the group talked about how to get through the overgrown dead trees, Leo heard something from behind. He glanced around in the cave quietly scanning. Then everyone heard a loud roar echoed and three large white polar bears charged at the group. "What the-!" Raph stammered in shock.
"Run!" Mona cried out.
Everyone quickly moved out of the way as the animals rushed at them.
"They're too big to take on!" Donnie shouted. "Quick head into the trees. They might be able to slow them down!" Everyone quickly ran into the overgrown trees, crawling and pushing through them.
"Move it, Donnie!" Venus shouted.
"I'm moving! I'm moving!" Donnie shouted.
"Guess that's our answer on how the radiation affected the wildlife." Yuuki said. Leo saw the bears started to charge again, heading straight towards them.
"Here they come again!" Leo shouted.
"Mikey, you got the wrong idea." Alopex pleaded with Mikey to listen to her.
"Listen, I have no intention of-" Mikey was punched in the face by Mokoshan.
"Mikey! No!" Alopex cried out.
"Very well." Mokoshan said, getting into a fighting stance. Mikey glared up at him. He wiped the blood from his mouth, getting up and got into a fighting stance as well.
"You call that a punch? Raph hits a lot harder than you!" Mikey retorted and he punched Mokoshan in the face, making the wolf leader stumble back a little before he regained his footing. Mokoshan saw Mikey running towards him.
"Then how about a kick." Mokoshan kicked Mikey in the face, knocking him back.
"Both of you stop it!" Alopex shouted.
"You kick like a girl!" Mikey shouted.
"Yikes!" Donnie cried out when a bear tried to swipe at Donnie with its claws. Venus quickly pulled Donnie away from the bear's mouth just as it snapped.
"We need to get out of here!" Raph shouted. Yuuki saw Leo slashing at the bears trying to keep them at bay. She grabbed Leo's shoulder.
"Leo, come on!" Yuuki shouted.
"Both of you...please stop." Alopex begged the two. She began to feel dizzy again and fell to her knees.
"Yes, stop before you get hurt." Mokoshan said.
"I'm not leaving without Alopex." Mikey answered.
"Michelangelo! He's my father!" Alopex shouted. Mikey stopped in his tracks. He looked at Alopex in shock.
"What?" Caught of guard, Mokoshan kicked Mikey in his plastron. Mikey was knocked back and landed on his shell.
"I warned you." Mokoshan growled and started to step closer to Mikey. Alopex quickly got up, shaking off her nausea and quickly rushed towards the two. She hopped onto Mokoshan's shoulders and landed on all fours, stopping Mokoshan from getting closer to Mikey. She bared her fangs at him, growling at Mokoshan as a warning. "Alopex."
"Stay away from him! I don't care if you're my father, but I won't let you hurt him." Alopex growled.
"Mikey?" Mikey turned around, looking at the woods behind him and saw Yuuki and Donnie running out from the bushes as they came out of the forest.
"Huh?" Mikey stared at them surprised to see them and waved at them. "Hey, you guys!"
"Mikey!" Raph shouted.
"Hey there Mokoshan!" Donnie waved at the wolf leader.
"Run!" Leo shouted as he and April and Casey ran out and the three large bears barreled through the trees.
"By the great spirits!" Mokoshan exclaimed in shock seeing the creatures. The bears were rampaging wildly as they chased everyone and everything in their paths.
"We have to think of a way to stop these things!" Raph shouted.
"Donnie, think of something!" April shouted at Donnie.
"I'm trying!" Donnie shouted. "We need some kind of-"
"Diversion." He saw Mokoshan opened the pen, holding the caribous and let out a loud howl. The caribous ran out and the bears spotting the herd and chased after them. The caribous led the bears away running into the woods.
"Yeah, like that. Nice going, Mokoshan!" Raph exclaimed.
"Alopex!" Mikey shouted and rushed over to her, picking her up.
"I'm okay, Mikey. The strain from all of the excitement got to me." Alopex tried to reassure him.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" Mikey asked, worried.
"Well, there is something else..." Alopex paused before she motioned Mikey to come closer to her. Mikey leaned in and she whispered. "I'm pregnant." Mikey quickly pulled away from her and blinked at her in shock.
"Y-You're having a baby?" He sputtered. "We're going to have a baby!?"
"Babies." Alopex corrected him. "We're having twins." Mikey let out a happy scream and immediately spun Alopex around. "No way! I'm gonna be a father!" He shouted excitedly. Everyone heard Mikey's outburst and rushed over, congratulating them.
Mokoshan allowed everyone to stay one night and soon enough the next day came. Everyone was going to head back to the barn house to get Splinter, D, and Mona and it was time to head back to New York City.
"Take care, my friends." Mokoshan waved goodbye to everyone as they climbed back into April and Casey's van. There were several wolves as well as they watched them pack up. Mikey walked over to Mokoshan and stood in front of him.
"It's not too late to call you dad, isn't it?" Mikey joked and laughed a little. Mikey received a frown form the wolf leader, making him cringe.
"Only Alopex can call me that. You will call me by my name, and we'll go from there." He told Mikey. Mikey smiled sheepishly. Guess, that's fair after a kick and a punch to the face and stomach. Not a great way to start a relationship. But a least he didn't seem to hate him. That's a start a least!
Mokoshan shook Mikey's hand and Mikey returned it, shaking the wolf leader's hand back. Then he climbed into the van, meeting with Alopex and sat next to her.
"Time to head home, guys." April said and she started the van. Everyone heard howls from the wolves as they drove away. Mokoshan watched the van drive away until it was gone.
"Goodbye, Michelangelo."
