Tony stared up at Scott in the doorway of Kerry's trailer. The humid Los Angeles air clung to his skin, a tangible reminder of the suffocating tension he felt. They had been filming all day, and Tony's mind was a chaotic storm of rehearsed lines and unspoken emotions.
"Scott?" Tony's voice was a mix of confusion and an undercurrent of something darker. "What are you doing here?"
Scott, ever the calm presence, smiled. "Hey, Tony. Kerry asked me to help her run some lines. Come on in."
Tony hesitated for a heartbeat before stepping inside, his pulse quickening. The trailer felt too small, the air too thick. Kerry was sitting on the small couch, script in hand, her brow furrowed in concentration. She looked up, her eyes lighting up when she saw Tony.
"Tony! Perfect timing. We were just going over the scene for tomorrow." Her smile was genuine, but Tony couldn't shake the unease gnawing at him.
He forced a smile. "I see. I didn't mean to interrupt."
Scott moved to sit beside Kerry, the two of them engrossed in the script. Tony squeezed into a spot on the couch on the other side of Kerry, the only other seat left. He watched, feeling like an outsider in a place he had once felt so connected to. The lines they read blurred in his mind, their voices a distant echo against the roaring tide of his thoughts.
Kerry looked up, sensing his distraction. "Tony, are you okay?" He nodded, too quickly. "Yeah, just tired, I guess."
Scott stood up, sensing the need to give them space. "I should head out. We can continue tomorrow, Kerry."
Kerry nodded, standing to see Scott off. "Thanks, Scott. I really appreciate your help." Tony watched the exchange, his jaw tight. Once Scott left, Kerry turned to Tony, her eyes searching his face.
"Tony, what's going on? You seem... off." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know. Maybe it's just the long hours. Maybe it's... everything else."
Kerry stepped closer, her presence soothing yet complicated. "Tony, you know you can talk to me."
He looked at her, his feelings a tangled mess. "It's just... seeing you with Scott. I know it's irrational, but I can't help it."
Kerry's expression softened. She reached out, taking his hand. "Tony, Scott and I are just colleagues. He was helping me with the script because I needed a different perspective. That's all."
Tony's eyes met hers, the sincerity in her gaze easing him. "I know..I know nothing is going on..it's just..every time I see him touch you while filming scenes or rehearsals..it just gets to me somehow."
Kerry smiled. "Well we all know you are quite the method actor even during rehearsals and Scott is not. He very rarely kisses me on the lips for rehearsals, he's all business."
Tony looked into those beautiful brown eyes and she gave him that look that only she could give. It was an innocent wonder in her eyes mixed with passion and it got him weak every time she did it. He rubbed her leg and smiled. "I know I have nothing to worry about. Maybe I'll just skip those scenes from now on."
Kerry laid her head down on his chest and snuggled in his warmth. She loved the firm steady beat of Tony's heart. As much as she gave him a hard time, she really did love him.
Her head suddenly popped up. "I have an idea! Let's go to the beach and have a picnic! I don't care if anyone sees us, let them talk! Plus I know of a private beach we can go to!"
Tony smiled, pulling out his cell phone. "You know, that's a great idea! You tell me the spot and I'll make the arrangements."
A few hours later found them climbing into Tony's car, heading to the beach.
The silver moon hung high in the sky, casting its soft, ethereal glow over the calm expanse of the ocean. Waves lapped gently against the shore, their rhythmic sound a soothing melody that blended perfectly with the night. Tony and Kerry walked hand in hand along the sandy beach, their steps in sync, leaving a trail of intertwined footprints behind them.
Tony glanced at Kerry, her face radiant under the moonlight. "It's a perfect night, isn't it?" he said, his voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might break the enchantment of the moment.
Kerry smiled, her eyes reflecting the shimmering water. "It really is," she replied. "I can't think of a better way to spend it than right here with you."
They continued their leisurely stroll until they reached a secluded spot where a blanket lay spread out on the sand. A wicker basket sat beside it, filled with an array of delectable treats and a huge bouquet of roses. Tony, ever the gentleman, guided Kerry to sit first before settling down next to her. The cool breeze carried the faint scent of salt and sea, mingling with the aroma of the food they had brought.
"Tony! These are beautiful! Thank you!" Kerry ran her fingertips slightly over the top of the roses.
"Do you remember our first picnic?" Tony asked, a playful glint in his eyes as he began unpacking the basket.
Kerry laughed softly, her mind traveling back to that day. "How could I forget? You insisted on bringing that old, rickety basket your grandmother gave you."
"Hey, that basket had character!" Tony defended, handing her a glass of chilled wine. "Besides, it was the company that mattered."
She took a sip of the wine, savoring its crisp taste. "You're right. And tonight, the company is perfect."
They shared the meal, feeding each other bites of fruit and cheese, their laughter mingling with the sound of the waves. Tony watched Kerry intently, marveling at how her beauty seemed to shine even brighter in the moonlight. He reached out, brushing a strand of hair away from her face, his fingers lingering on her cheek.
He leaned closer, their faces inches apart. "I want to make a promise to you, Kerry. To always be there, to share every joy and sorrow. To love you, always. We will always be forever in the moment."
A single tear rolled down her cheek, which Tony gently wiped away before cupping her face in his hands. "I love you, Kerry."
"I love you too, Tony," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Their lips met in a passionate kiss, sealing their unspoken vows. The moon watched over them, a silent guardian of their love, as they held each other close, savoring the magic of the night.
Time seemed to stand still as they lay back on the blanket, gazing up at the stars. Tony's arm wrapped around Kerry, pulling her closer as she rested her head on his chest. They spoke in hushed tones, sharing dreams and hopes, their words blending seamlessly with the symphony of the ocean.
As the night grew deeper, Tony pressed a kiss to Kerry's forehead. "Let's stay here a little longer," he suggested, his voice filled with contentment.
Kerry nodded, snuggling closer. "One minute."
