A couple of days later, Vivian was getting ready to go out on a date her sister had set her up with. Vivian sighed to herself as she looked in the mirror, getting ready for her date. She was wearing a mid-length red dress and her short black boots. The dress was modest for the most part. 'Maybe nothing will happen. Maybe I'll have fun. I don't know, but I have to try and forget about Chance.' She thought to herself as she fixed her hair. She took a deep breath and let it go. 'Okay, let's get this over with and DO NOT think about Chance or even compare the two.' She thought to herself as she took another deep breath and let it go before leaving her room to leave out of her apartment.

Across the city, Chance was getting ready for a date too, begrudgingly. "You sure this is a good idea buddy? Going on a date this soon?" He yelled to Jake as he buttoned the last button on his shirt. Jake stuck his head in through Chance's open bedroom door. "Don't worry so much, pal. You have to start trying again sometime. She's one of Callie's friends. From what Callie tells me, she's really nice."

Chance rolled his eyes. "Yeah, until she finds out I can't buy her a house or even a decent sized rock one day." Jake patted him on the back. "Like I said, don't worry so much. Just have fun. Maybe this one will be different. Besides, you need a date for our wedding soon."

'Vivian was different. I wanted her. I still want her.' Chance thought sadly to himself as he combed through the hair on his head a little with his hand. He sighed. "I guess I'm ready to go." He turned and Jake tossed a set of keys at him. He caught them and looked up at him. "Take the car. Callie's coming to get me. That way, if things go really well tonight and she doesn't want you to see her place yet..." Chance waved him off. "Yeah, yeah, thanks. Appreciate it, buddy." Getting tail was the last thing on Chance's mind. He didn't even want to go on this date, but both Callie and Jake insisted he get himself back out there and stop moping around the garage. "Have a good night then." Jake said, smiling slightly. Chance gave him a small two finger salute as he stepped out of his room and made his way down the stairs.

Meanwhile in downtown Megakat City, Vivian had met up with the tom that Lilian had set her up with. They decided to go to dinner together. He had light brown fur, lighter than Jake's for instance. He had pretty jade colored eyes and he was a pretty fit tom. Every she-kats "hot fantasy guy", as Lilian described him to her. 'Even though he is nice to look at, his arms aren't as big and toned as Cha- stop yourself right there, Vivian. You said you weren't gonna do that!' Vivian reprimanded herself and tried to focus on the date.

"So, what's your workout strategy?" He asked her, trying to break the ice. Daniel, she thought his name was. "Huh? Oh...I don't really have a set workout routine. I walk a lot and do a workout video from time to time, but that's it." She said. 'I got a lot more workouts in when I was Shadow Kat, but of course, I can't tell him that. I could tell Chan- damn it, Viv! Quit that!'

"Oh. Well, I'd like for the she-Kat I get serious with to also be active in the gym like I am. Maybe join me there regularly." Daniel said, smiling slightly. Vivian had to control the urge to roll her eyes. 'Great...Lil hooked me up with a gym rat. This date is going down faster than the Turbokat did the other day...ugh...stop!'

"Maybe." She said with a non-committal shrug of her shoulders. "Soooo...what do you like to do in your spare time? Your sister said you work for the Enforcers. That should keep you pretty busy and in shape."

Vivian laughed a little. "Oh no, I'm not an actual Enforcer. I'm basically a paper pusher for them. I like to read comics and novels from time to time. Watch movies and play video games." Daniel's smile faded. "I don't see how you stay in the shape you're in with that sedentary job and those sedentary activities." Vivian once again shrugs. "Good genes I guess. Oh, I like their bread." Vivian reached into the basket but he gently pushed her hand away. "Oh my gosh, don't you know that bread is so bad for you?! Bread makes you fat!" He gasped.

Vivian shook her head, raising her eyebrow, and placing her elbow on the table and putting her head in her hand, looking very bored. 'This is going to be a long date I can't wait to get out of already.'

Over on the other side of the same restaurant, Chance had about the same look on his face as he would when he'd have to drive the tow truck vs. The Turbokat. 'Does this she-Kat realize she's on a date with me and not herself? She hasn't let me get a word in edgewise since I picked her up. Vivian would actually have conversations with me- no, Furlong. You're supposed to be trying to get over her, not wishing she was here in her place.' She was a pretty she-kat named Scarlett. She was an orange and crème she-Kat with brown eyes. Her hair was blonde.

"So, Callie told me you're a mechanic? That job must be super dirty. I'm surprised your fur isn't stained. You don't smell like a garage." She finally finished her ramblings and sort of asked about him. "It's called a shower. It's not that hard to get grease out. Now, oil I have to try a little harder to get out, but it's not that bad." Chance said, not trying to be rude but her question was kind of rude too. "Oh. What do you like to do outside of the garage?" Chance perked up a little. 'Maybe this date can turn around.' He thought to himself. "I like to read comic books, play video games, and go to the movies. I like Scardy Kat cartoons too." He saw her face scrunch at this. "Ugh, you sound like my little brother. He likes all those things too. Aren't you a little old for that stuff?"

'Aaaannnnddd this date is going down fast in flames. Vivian was into the same things I was and didn't care that I watch cartoons. She'd even watch them with me- damn it, Furlong. You're still in love with her.' Chance thought, mentally kicking himself. "I don't think I'm too old for that stuff. There's not an age limit for liking certain things. Heck, one of the superhero comics I read was created by this guy so that the soldiers in Megawar 2 could take their minds off the war for a while and those kats were anywhere from age 18 to their 30's."

"Oh. Callie didn't tell me you were kind of a comic book nerd." Scarlett sat back in her chair a bit. That comment took Chance back to the memory of when he and Vivian went to get comic books together, having dinner together, and then getting trapped in Vivian's room together where they shared their first kiss.

Chance shook his head and tried to shake off the memory. He looked up at Scarlett and sighed. "Look, Scarlett, I think you're a nice she-Kat, but I don't think it's gonna work out between us. To be honest, I don't think we have much in common and on top of that, I think...I'm in love with someone else. I'm sorry." He said waiting for her response. To his surprise, she was smiling. 'Huh...I'd think she'd wanna slap me or something.'

"Thanks for being honest, Chance. To be honest, I didn't feel that spark I'm looking for between us either. I'm glad you said something before I had to. Whoever she is, I hope she knows what a lucky she-Kat she is. It's a shame. You are handsome." Chance chuckled a little. "But I remind you of your little brother?" He said with his eyebrow raised. She laughed a little. "Yeah, but it's okay. I'll just keep looking. Let's get out of here." She said as he nodded and signaled for the waiter to bring the check.

Later, Scarlett and Chance were standing outside, waiting for the valet to bring his car around. Vivian and Daniel happened to come out at the same time. Vivian looked a bit annoyed and the tom next to her was just rambling on and on about gym stuff and fitness. 'I swear, if I have to listen to him anymore about protein shakes and supplements, I'm going to shove his head up his tail end!' Vivian thought to herself as she shook her head. She caught something out of the corner of her eye. She gasped slightly when she saw him. 'Chance?! Is he out on a date with someone?!' She felt like something had stabbed her in the heart sharply.

Chance felt someone looking at him and turned to see her. "Oh crud." he said under his breath. "What was that?" Scarlett asked as she followed his gaze to Vivian. "Oh, is that the she-Kat you're in love with?" She asked as Chance shushed her. "She doesn't know yet! She might hear you!" He said as he continued to look at her and the brown tom next to her. Chance couldn't help the glare that came across his features.

Vivian saw the glare, not directed at her, but at Daniel. She looked up at him. "What's his deal? Do you know him?" Daniel asked as Vivian pursed her lips, trying to figure out what to say to him. She finally sighed. "That's Chance. We...dated briefly." Daniel's eyes went to Vivian and then back to Chance. "Oh, that must be why he seems to have beef with me. I'm gonna go over and talk to him." Vivian grabbed him by his arm quickly, jerking him back to stand next to her. "Oh no you're not! I really don't want to spend the rest of this night in the infirmary with you."

He looked over at Chance, the scowl deepening, seeing Vivian save him from going over and talking to him. "He's scary looking, but I've taken down guys bigger than him before." Daniel said. 'Maybe, but have you ever taken on one of the Swat Kats? Namely, T-Bone? He has no problem kicking your tail even out of the flight suit' Vivian thought to herself. "Trust me, you don't want to mess with him. He's a former Enforcer." She said, hoping he'd take the hint. Daniel looked like he was considering for a moment, then he put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him. "You're right. Besides I'm enjoying my night out with you." He said as he leaned down to try and kiss her. She ducked out under his arm and came to stand beside him. Chance smirked at this. 'Good girl.'

"I uh...I'm a not kiss on the first date type of she-Kat." She said to him, trying to cover for herself. Daniel looked at her. "Aw, come on! Give me a chance! I thought the date was going well-"

"The lady said no, creep! Take the hint!" Chance said, looking like he was ready to fight. Daniel turned to look at him. Daniel's nervousness was showing, despite him trying to act tough. "This is none of your business, fat kat!" Chance's face changed into one Vivian recognized as T-Bone's 'I'm gonna kick some tail' wide grin. "We'll see just how 'fat' I am when I kick your skinny tail halfway across this-" Chance stopped when he saw Vivian step in front of him. "I would hate to see anyone hurt and I don't think either one of you want to spend the rest of the night in jail." She said, pointing to the coming Enforcer officers. "Get out of here." She said low to him with concern, seeing his car being pulled up. "You gonna be okay alone with him?" Chance said low to her with equal concern, tossing his head slightly at the other tom and then looking back down at her. "Chance, I'm a UK Army veteran and formerly Shadow Kat. I think I'll be alright." She said to him with a little wink and a smile. His heart skipped a few beats.

Chance turned and left to get into the car. The valet already let Scarlett in the passenger seat and closed the door. He got to the driver's side, tipping the valet, getting in the car, and leaving. "What a macho jerk!" Daniel said, getting Vivian's attention again. "You know Daniel, I think I'll just get a taxi home." She said, starting to step away from him. "What do you mean? I thought this date was going really well until...him." Vivian shook her head. "It wasn't just him. I just...don't feel anything with you. There's no spark for me." He glared down at her and snorted. "Tch, should've gone for the younger sister. I hear she'll sleep with just about anyone." Vivian grabbed his arm, twisted it behind him and slammed him down on the hood of the next car that the valet brought. "Hey! What the heck?!" He said as he struggled against her.

"That's not true. Stay away from both myself and my sister, scuzzball." She hissed dangerously at him as she let him up. Seeing that Enforcer officers were still nearby and coming her way, she walked away from him to go call a cab. "You and that crazy jerk tom deserve each other!" He yelled at her as she continued to walk away from him. 'Maybe we do deserve each other.' She thought to herself.

Later, back at the garage, Chance had already come home alone and changed into some lounge pants and a t-shirt. He was sitting on the couch watching whatever he could since Scardy Kat wasn't on this late. He heard the door click open and saw Jake come through the door. Jake looked up, surprised to see him sitting on the couch. "Hey, you're home early. What gives?" He asked. "Date didn't go so well. I also ran into Vivian. She was on a date at the same place too." Jake's eyes went wide. "You're kidding?! With who?!" Chance shrugged. "Some tom I almost beat the crud out of." Jake's mouth dropped open. "Chance! You're supposed to stay away from her! Isn't that why you're both doing this in this first place, to keep our secret from getting out?! You can't just haul off and beat up every tom you may see her going out with! Callie's friend wasn't mad at you for literally ruining your date over another she-Kat?" He asked as Chance shook his head. "Nope. Both Scarlett and I agreed there was no chemistry or spark there. I admitted to her that I'm in love with Vivian."

Jake smacked his head and sat down beside him. "So what are you gonna do now? Whatever you decide, I'm with you 100 percent, but I gotta know to be ready. This doesn't just affect you and her anymore. I'm in the public eye because of being with Callie. If the city finds out we're the Swat Kats, that automatically puts her in more than regular danger too, knowing that she's my fiancé. Our enemies will stop at nothing to hurt me through her and that's if we can continue to even be the Swat Kats. Feral will be all over us like white on rice."

Chance shook his head. "You won't even get in the jet with me anymore since I screwed up and hit that building, thinking about Vivian. We're not the team we used to be right now because of that. I'm not me anymore without her. I didn't know when I met her how important she would become to me, but she is Jake. I don't want to go on the rest of my 9 lives wondering what could've been. I have to try, even if it means no longer being T-Bone. I'll find another way to fly again, just like we did after we got booted from the Enforcers. I can protect her as both Chance and T-Bone." Jake sighed and shook his head. "Looks like you've made your choice. I'll stash some weapons around the garage too now if need be and do some security updates too. Maybe Callie can request extra guards at the office. We can do this. You deserve to be happy buddy." Chance smiled back. "Thanks pal, I know you always have my back."

The next day, it was a dark cloudy day as Chance drove to Vivian's apartment. 'Hopefully she's there, but if not, I can wait. I'm telling her how I feel and that I'm willing to fight for her no matter how long or what it takes.' He thought to himself as he pulled into her apartment complex and found a spot.

Meanwhile, Vivian was inside her apartment, scrambling to get ready to leave. 'I gotta get to the garage and catch Chance. There's no other guy I wanna be with. If we have to fight side by side to keep each other, I'm willing to fight until the bitter end.' She thought to herself, finally finding her keys and going to the door to leave. She started marching out to her car when someone called out to her. "Vivian! Where are you going?" She turned and was surprised to see Chance coming towards her. A smile she couldn't help spread across her features. "To-to find you." She stuttered a bit. He met in the middle with her. "Really? Why didn't you just call the shop? I would've waited there for you or met you here."

"Because, what I need to say can't be said over the phone and I didn't want to accidentally say it when I called because-"

"I love you, Vivian." Chance interjected. Her eyes went wide, half believing she heard him, and half believing she didn't. "Can you-could you say that again?"

Chance smiled. "Vivian Vanfang, I love you." Her heart felt like it was about to burst out of her chest. A blush was across her face. "You mean it?" She asked as he chuckled. "Yeah I mean it, you crazy she-kat. I came here to say I don't care about who's watching you. If I have to fight as Chance or T-Bone, I'm willing to do it just to be with you. I'm scared to be honest. There's hardly anything that actually scares me, but it feels like I'm free falling without a parachute or any of my gadgets and I'm terrified, Vivian. I thought I've been in love before a few times, but not near the way I feel when I'm with you." She felt tears of happiness welling in her eyes. "Oh Chance...I love you too." She felt a heavy weight lifted from her shoulders as he stepped closer to her. The thunder overhead rumbled. "I hope whoever's watching you is watching right now." He said with a slight smirk. "Why?"

He took Vivian into his arms, gently lifting her face to his, bringing her body up to hang against his and kissed her passionately just as the rain started pouring down. Neither Kat seemed to care. His hands slipped down to her backside and lifted her to wrap her legs around him. They only broke the kiss a few seconds and were back at it again, passionately kissing in the rain, getting soaked.
