Kim was the last to arrive at the district this morning. She had gotten a last minute therapy appointment to talk through the email from her mom and what she had learned from her old hair dresser. It had plagued her horribly so Adam suggested she try to get a therapy appointment. She was happy that she was able to be seen before hours knowing it would continue to bother her. She was definitely rushing not wanting to be late for shift. As she entered the bullpen she realized they already had a case so she just needed to get caught up quickly. She listened to all the details knowing what needed to be done as they headed out to the crime scene. She just needed to focus and she knew they could talk later about her appointment. It was a stable situation so it was fine to discuss later. Also it wasn't exactly appropriate to talk about at work.
She settled in the car with Jay as they headed out to the scene. "So how was it?" He asked cautiously knowing some people didn't like to talk about it. "Um I wouldn't say great but maybe more understanding of how to handle it going forward. I think the biggest take away was she suggested I wait two years before I try to have contact with her. Give her time to work on herself first. Then maybe have Michael sit with her for a conversation to see if she's made change before I expose myself to that again. While shocking it's understandable. Like why put myself in front of the firing squad when she hasn't changed. It's a lot to process and will be for a while but I know I need it. I know I need help. Just wish I could process one thing at a time and not 30 things at once. I know it sounds crazy but I would like that. A break from the crazy would be lovely." She laughed a bit knowing it sounded crazy.
"I think it's a good plan and not wrong to want a break. A chance to come out of fight mode for a chunk of time. Though I think when that time comes your body will crash completely. You have to be chronically exhausted already and you probably don't even know it." He wasn't sure how well she knew her own body, her own self. "Oh I am. I still try to sleep when the kids sleep just to try to catch up but it never seems like enough. And it probably won't for a long ass time." Kim paused thinking before she continued. "I told Adam I dream of never being called strong again. It sounds crazy maybe but I'm exhausted by strength. I want to be heard, supported, validated not just patted on the back for how well I took a hit. I just want to live in normal mode whatever the hell that is." She looked over seeing understanding on his face. "I get it. We all do. One day you will get there. One day you will see it's possible to live free." He knew they would get there but it would take a lot of work on all their parts to get her to normal again. She probably never lived in normal before. It sounded like she was never taken care of emotionally as a child.
While she had a roof over her head, food on the table and clothes on her back. The emotional needs were never met. He figured that she didn't even know that till much later in life. And that was probably very heartbreaking as an adult. But he was proud she was trying to fix herself and prevent her children from having the same issues growing up. He saw her as a wonderful mother who always put her children's needs first. Long before they were born she put them first and had raised two amazing children. Who were kind, polite, loving, well spoken and well rounded kids. Also certainly well adjusted considering the life they lived before Kim was attacked. It was a miracle that her children were so well behaved given what they had seen and heard. It could affect them later but he knew Kim and Adam would never let them fall too far before stepping in to get them help.
"She mentioned that my mom may have no idea what's wrong with her. And said that she would probably freak out if I told her how i see her. That's very true. I'm not sure she even realizes how childish she can be, how narcissistic she can be, how passive aggressive she gets. Like flat out refusing to eat the potato chips I bought because they were baked. Sitting in her room pouting that we were all trying to eat healthy. I think it was that same week when she was talking to my father on the phone she said 'help they are trying to make me eat spaghetti squash.' Like it was funny. The only way I could get her to try new fish was to fry it. Which I flat out refused to do. Ruin good fish that way. Dumb ass." Kim shook her head looking out the window. "Sounds child like. And definitely unnecessary in your life." Jay concluded as they pulled up to the scene. "Let's get this shit over I need a nap after therapy." They both laughed as they entered the house. They all knew the drill so they all got to work.
"Love a bloody scene! Great for DNA and finger prints." Kim looked around seeing splatter everywhere. "Well he wasn't shot." Jay looked over the body. "No definitely blunt force trauma. Several cast off patterns on the walls here. Looks like 4 hits. The first one is blood free. And three cast off patterns. Yeah 4 blows looks right. Did they leave the object behind is the question?" Kim started to look under the furniture before heading for the trash cans outside. It was gross but helpful most times. "You find anything?" Adam asked seeing her trash diving. "Nothing useful though it could have been taken or thrown elsewhere. Didn't hurt to check though." She moved but stopped quick. "Adam. Get the crime scene techs and then follow me. We have a blood trail." Kim pointed looking closer at the blood. "Good catch. Be right back." Adam returned moments later with a tech to start processing the blood drops. The trail ended on the sidewalk where they assumed a car was waiting. But it didn't stop them from looking in the storm drain.
They headed back inside to give the information recovered but to also text Mouse to have him start looking at street cameras to see if it caught the get away car. The team headed back to the district with little to no leads but a fair idea of how it happened just not the why behind it. When they returned Kim headed for a tea needing something to calm her nerves. Adam followed behind. "How are you holding up?" He asked know she had been sick most of the night over what to do. "Hanging in there. Was suggested my mom do therapy alone for a while before I even try to reach out. Have Michael do the conversation to see if she really is making changes or not first. I still feel pretty overwhelmed and my stomach is in knots still but I'm hanging tough like always." She sighed leaning into his embrace. "I can't even imagine how horrible you feel right now. Tonight a long warm bath will help relax you some then next week we have a long weekend away with the kids." He knew she was smiling over that. "Sounds amazing." She kissed his chest before returning to her desk.
The case moved slowly but the team worked every angle. It was shortly after noon when Kim's phone rang it was the daycare. "Kim Burgess speaking." She answered panicked. "Ms Burgess we are calling because your son fell on the playground. He's saying his arm hurts. We are taking him to the hospital." The teacher stated. "Milo fell! Take him to Chicago Med! I'm sending Adam Ruzek to pick up Mia. She will freak out without him. I'm on my way!" Kim literally ran out of the room knowing everyone heard her. Adam followed behind her knowing exactly what they needed to do. The team was worried but knew they had it handled. Jay called ahead to Med giving his brother the heads up. Kim was waiting as the ambo rolled up. She ran over opening the doors herself. She jumped right in. "Hey buddy I'm right here." Kim held his little hand. "Mommy it hurts!" He whimpered. "Oh I know buddy but the doctor is going to help you." Kim stay right next to the stretcher. "Kim I got a room ready already." Will showed them to the room. "Thanks Will." Kim sighed. "I think Adam will be here shortly with Mia." She added knowing the kids needed to be together.
"Hey buddy. I'm going to fix you up. We are going to take an X-ray of your arm okay?" Will asked watching the little boy crying. "Okay. It hurts." He cried. "I know little man. Let me take a few pictures and then we can give you something for the pain okay?" Will watched him nod. "Kim do you need to step out for the x-ray?" Will asked unsure. "Nope I'm good." Kim stood strong while the x-rays were taken. "Okay so we have a small fracture. It's going to need a cast but only for a few weeks." Will looked over to see Kim near tears. "It's going to be okay. A little pain meds, a cast and a sling and he will be good as new. Kim he's going to be okay in no time." Will tried to assure her but she needed Adam. Adam ran into the ED with Mia in his arms. "Maggie what room is Milo Burgess in?" He was trying to stay calm. "Right over here. Hi cutie! I'm Maggie." She gave her hand for a shake. "Thanks I'm Mia. Milo's my brother." Mia giggled loving the attention.
"You guys have your hands full." Maggie laughed leaving Adam to moved towards the room. "Hey. We are here." He placed Mia down on the bed knowing she would want to hug her brother. "God thank you!" Kim pulled Adam into a hug. "What's the prognosis?" He asked seeing the kids almost asleep together. "Small fracture. Few weeks in a cast and sling but he will be fine." Kim cried relieving the stress of it. "Hey it's going to be okay. Kids fall. Kids get hurt. Lord knows I broke a few bones. I'm sure you did too. He's going to bounce back once the pain lessens." He kissed her head holding her tight. "It's the first one. I wasn't prepared." She cried. "We are never prepared for this. That's why they are called accidents. But we got this, together!" Adam kept holding her. They only broke apart when Will returned to create the cast. "Awe that's adorable! Do they always sleep like that?" He whispered seeing the kids curled up together. "Until recently yes. It's how we kept the nightmares under control. But they got big kid beds and started to sleep apart. Still same room though." Kim watched them fondly.
"What color? Maybe we could let them sleep while I set the cast." He offered knowing it was probably easier with them asleep. "Blue probably. His back pack is blue." Kim shrugged unsure. "Hey he will be happy with that. He loves blue. He picks it often for his outfits." Adam assured her. She just nodded. The couple watched as a cast was created around the small boys arm. Tears streaming down Kim's cheeks. Adam knew it was because she was so tired but this was definitely hard to watch. He loved his son, biological or not. "Okay so we just need to let it dry. And then we can start the discharge paperwork." Will watched them nod. "Can I just say how crazy different your kids look for being twins?" They all laughed knowing it was so true. "Well their father and I look very different obviously so this happened. It's probably why he thought they weren't his. But god I love them." Kim's eyes never left their little bodies. "They are great kids. And Mia is a trip. You have done a great job Kim! Be proud. This is just a small bump in the road. I'm sure Adam told you this but kids get hurt. God you should see the number times Jay and I ended up here. Shit happens. He's fine and so are you." Will patted her shoulder as he left them be.
The couple pulled up chairs sitting next to the bed. Each having a hand on the small boy. "Only a broken finger. Nothing else broke. Tons of sprains. Hyper mobility sucks." Kim whispered. Adam whipped his head around looking at her. "Seriously? Only one broken finger? How?" He was shocked. "Lord knows. But tons of sprained ankles, sprained wrists. I did have 5 vertebrae that were backwards for a while. That sucked a lot." Kim shrugged. "Well damn. You got lucky then. But really this is completely normal. Voight will tell you that, Al will tell you that, Antonio will tell you that. Baby this will happen. I love you and our children. And I will protect you all with everything I have." He kissed her then let her sit with her feelings. Adam had been texting the team keeping them posted knowing Kim wouldn't have thought about it. He had gotten several messages looking for an update so he sent it out in the group chat. As soon as he finished texting he turned his attention back to the kids and Kim.
"Hey guys. You ready to head home." Will walked in with the discharge papers. "Yeah I think it's time to get them home. They will be hungry soon." Kim never took her eyes off the kids. "Alright which one are you carrying out since they are both asleep still?" Adam gave her the choice through Milo was bigger he figured she would want him close. "Little man. No shock." She picked him carrying him as Adam carried Mia to the car. He followed behind her as she drove them home. He helped her carry the kids inside laying them in their beds before he led her back to the kitchen. "Come here. I know you are spinning. I know you are freaking out. Let me hold you. Cry if you need to. It's okay." He pulled her into a hug, holding her tight. Letting her feel all her emotions. She sobbed hard in to his chest. Pouring out all the fear, all the terror pent up inside her.
"Why don't you take a nap while the kids sleep? We both know you could use the sleep." He felt her nod. They moved to the couch. Adam lying out flat and letting Kim lay on top of him. Her ear right over his heart. His steady heart beat lulling her to sleep. He let the team know they were home and that Kim and the kids were sound asleep. Everyone was thrilled to know that. They agreed to bring food over later so they didn't have to lift a finger. Just care for the children. He stayed awake in case the kids woke first. He was sure they would wake scared after the day they had so he wanted to be awake to soothe their fears. He had never understood all times he heard people say the love you feel for a child is more than anything else. But he got it now. The love her felt for the kids was more than he ever thought possible. And the pain he felt watching his son crying and having to get a cast killed him inside. He wanted nothing more than to make this family whole. He loved them deeply. But he couldn't rush them. They had to do it on their time. When they were all ready for it.
It wasn't much longer till he heard crying from upstairs. He moved Kim as best he could running up the stairs. Milo was crying scared. Adam scooped him up right away. Holding him tight rocking him. "You are safe buddy. It's okay. I'm right here. Mommy is downstairs sleeping on the couch." He texted Kevin asking him to bring the dog over right away. He heard Milo trying to say something but it was muffled. "Buddy are you okay? What do you need?" Adam asked unsure. "Daddy! I want a daddy!" He cried hard holding on to Adam sobbing. "Oh buddy I know you do. I know. I want to be your daddy. But that has to be your decision." Adam was crushed in this moment thinking it was going to end things. "You want to be my daddy?" Milo asked still crying but it slowed some. "More than anything in the world. I love you so much! Your mom and sister too. Do you want me to be your daddy?" He asked scared for the answer. But he shocked but happy when Milo hugged him tighter, nodding his head. Adam cried in that moment. A moment he was sure wouldn't happen for years if ever.
Kevin had arrived letting himself in knowing Kim was asleep on the couch. He moved the dog quietly to the kids rooms seeing the scene before him. "Thanks daddy." Milo whispered before falling back to sleep. Kevin said nothing just let the dog loose. Gunner jumped right in to the bed with Milo and Adam resting his face on Milo's legs. Adam smiled fondly at the scene not even realizing Kevin had taken a photo before heading back out. He didn't want to wake the kids or Kim so he moved quietly out of the room. He saw Kim still asleep as he headed back out of the house locking the door as he left. He was proud of his best friend. Proud of how he stepped it up and became the father the kids never had. He was also sure today was the first day either kid had called him daddy so he let him live in the moment. The whole family now sound asleep from the rough afternoon but they wouldn't have it any other way. Kevin returned to the district sharing the photo he had taken. "Looks like Adam calmed Milo's fears without the dog." Jay mused. "Milo called him daddy. I can promise you they will all be okay now. Adam had tear stained cheeks but I know they were happy tears. Today just solidified them as a family." Kevin shrugged sitting down to finish the case.
Kim had woken realizing she was alone. It was strange so she went in search of her family. What she found was surprising for sure. Mia still asleep in her bed. Adam in Milo's bed with Milo crashed on top of Adam and their dog asleep next to them but touching Milo. She had no idea how any of this happened but she was thrilled to say the least. It was crazy adorable. She took several photos before she noticed the kids started to wake up. She watch them both stretching a bit before sitting up smiling. "How was your naps babies?" She whispered trying not to wake Adam. "Good Adam hugged me while I cried. He's daddy now, okay?" Milo wanted that more than anything but he knew mom might not be okay with it. "That's perfect my baby boy. I'm sure he was thrilled." While Kim had gasped she was happy the kids seemed okay and had accepted Adam as a father. Mia was beaming with happiness. She loved Adam so this was perfect in her mind.
None realized Adam had awoken and was listening to their conversation. He was smiling wide hearing his family happy about calling him daddy. He waited a few more minutes before he allowed his present be known. "Good afternoon my family." He whispered not wanting to scare them at all. "Daddy!" Both kids yelled. Milo crashing on him as Mia ran over for hugs as well. Kim crying happy tears. "I assume we all had good naps?" The happiness on all their faces was clear. "Yes thank you!" Mia snuggled closer. She hadn't had time earlier and she wanted it now. "How did Gunner get here?" Kim asked knowing neither had him at the hospital. "I asked Kevin to bring him home while Milo was crying scared. He's good emotional support for us all so I figured I would get him home. He curled up with us right away. I'm sure Kevin was extra quiet knowing you were asleep on the couch and that you needed it. How are you feeling by the way?" He knew she had been sick all night and he hoped it had passed with therapy but he wasn't sure. "I don't know. I still feel sick over it but I haven't really eaten either so lord knows what will happen." She shrugged really unsure about all of it. "Well let's get some food in all of us. I'm sure the kids are hungry by now." He watched them nod as they got up heading for the stairs. Kim followed close behind with Gunner. Adam took a minute to stretch as it wasn't the most comfortable position to sleep in but his son was comfortable and that was all he cared about.
He headed down the stairs to see Kim making lunches for everyone and Gunner outside running around. It was good for them all. As they sat down to eat Kim figured it was time to figure out what happened at school. "Milo buddy can you tell me how you fell and broke your arm?" Kim asked gently. "We were playing and I tripped." He shrugged. "So like what happened when I caught you in the yard that day?" Adam asked thinking it had to be that. "Yes. I was laughing and not looking." He shrugged again. "Okay well I'm glad no one hurt you and that you know to be more careful now okay?" Kim hoped he got it. "Okay. But don't boys get hurt?" Milo asked looking between his parents. "Well all kids get hurt to be honest but yes boys seem to get hurt more than girls. But either way it makes us sad seeing you guys hurt. So let's try harder to prevent it." Adam knew it would happen again, it was only a matter of time. Both kids nodded but that did nothing to change the fact that kids got hurt.
After lunch the kids crashed on the couch watching movies. Milo was still pretty tired from the pain meds and Mia was just happy to chill. Kim admitted to still feeling off some but wasn't too concerned. Adam had kept an eye on her all afternoon. He did admit she looked fine and it probably was stress but he still worried. He was afraid her body was crashing again. He was afraid she would need meds again. He had hoped therapy would do the trick but he was starting to wonder if she needed more. But that was a conversation for when they were alone. He felt Kim curl into his side falling asleep again. They knew she needed it so he let her be. He just hoped it didn't keep her awake all night. Though that rarely happened. He changed the movie a couple of times and helped Milo take more pain meds that were less severe. Hoping it still helped but made him less tired. But it was a good afternoon.
Just around 5 Adam heard a knock on the door. He knew it was the team as Kevin had texted that they were there. He opened the door finding the full team with dinner and lots of balloons and cards for Milo. They had really gone all out to help him feel better. Kim was near tears loving this family that she had found in Chicago. They really were amazing to her and her children. "Hey boss! Sorry about earlier. I just freaked out. I was so scared I just left and that was unprofessional and unacceptable. I'm very sorry. It won't happen again." Kim truly felt horrible for how she acted. "It's fine. We all reacted the same way the first time our kids got hurt outside our homes. It was a very normal response. I'm not upset in the least. Just happy he's going to be fine and it wasn't worse. Believe boys are way harder on you than the girls. Even Erin was easier to raise than my son." He laughed but they all did knowing Erin was a terror to raise. Drug addiction, drinking and selling herself on the streets was hard but Justin had been harder on them all.
"Maybe but I was a tough kid. Always outdoors but the hyper mobility I guess prevented breaks but I had tons of sprained ankles. Sprained wrists, cuts, bruises. It wasn't always easy. I just never remember having to go to the ER from daycare or from school. Maybe I did but blocked it. I don't know." Kim shrugged but loved how they all came together. "Hey buddy do you need more pain meds?" Kim asked not knowing Adam handled already. "No daddy did it already." Milo smiled wide loving having a father who cared. "That's great! I'm happy to hear that." Kim knew everyone was shocked but didn't acknowledge it. It wasn't for discussion now. "How about we get everyone fed?" Adam asked the kids knowing they would be excited for food. "Yes!" Mia yelled overly excited. "Okay let's get the plates and utensils. Kim can you grab drinks please?" Adam had his hands full so Kim helping was a god send. "Yup right behind you." Kim was happy to help. The whole team sat around the table talking and sharing stories. Hoping to ease Kim's mind about accidents happening. And that kids do get hurt. Though as a single mom it was probably harder to watch than those who had a partner the whole time.
"Did you play sports?" Voight asked wondering more about her life. "Ah I played basketball in high school. And I danced in college." She wasn't shy about that. "What kind of dance?" Kevin asked very curious about his partner. "Oh um I was a ballerina but I was on the dance team for the sports teams. You know the half time performances." Kim shrugged a bit seeing everyone looking at her. "Really? Can we see?" Adam really wanted to see this. "Um sure. I guess." Kim turned the tv on finding the schools you tube account and finding her videos right away. Kim pressed play before stepping back letting them see it. She couldn't look, she was almost embarrassed by it at this stage in life but it happened. "Oh yeah we are going clubbing soon girl!" Kevin was jamming as the video played. He even got Kim dancing some. "I'm down for that. It's been a long ass time since I went to a club to dance." Kim was down for most things so this sounded fun. "Do you have any ballet ones?" Erin asked kind of shocked by the video. "Um yeah there should be some on here as well." Kim scrolled through till she found one. It was her senior year in college. Again she pressed play and couldn't look.
She felt arms wrap around her. She knew it was Adam. He just squeezed her tight. "Amazing! Why didn't you choose dance over being a cop?" Mouse asked knowing she was passionate about being a cop. "Well starting over in a new career at 30 sounded like a bad idea. Plus it's cut throat, only the supremely good get the roles, it's injury plagued. And I did love it but it wasn't my true passion." Kim shrugged knowing she made the right call. "I had no idea. Sounds like you made the right call. But you were a lovely dancer." Al knew she was embarrassed so he tried not to say too much. "Lord knows crime is recession proof so I will always have a job. And as I age I can still work or get a pension. So it's the better plan." Kim was kind of over it but Jay was playing more videos. She really would have to kill him later. "Why did you stop basketball?" Adam asked not knowing it was a thing. "Truthfully it's not great with hyper mobility. Literally feeling your foot separate from your leg is not fun during a game. Losing my footing because of that landed me flat on my back. Head bounced off the floor boards. It was not great." Kim explained.
"I've never heard of hyper mobility. What is it?" Voight asked. "It's very loose joints that leads to being more flexible but also joints popping out easily. I can pop both my shoulders out without really trying. It's gotten harder as I've gotten older but my knees still hyperextend, my elbows still twist. And it's linked to ADHD. So super cool." Kim showed them all how her elbows twist. "That's freaky." Antonio cringed. "Oh I know. It's a fun party trick though." She shrugged it off. She was used to it. "Will the kids get it?" Jay asked. "Don't know. As far as I know I'm the only one in my family with it. And really I hope not. I had so many injuries because of it that I was asked if my parents were abusing me. They were almost investigated. But not playing sports led to it happening less so speculation died off quick. I wasn't being abused like that but I could see how it looked that way." Kim was very honest about it. They were family after all.
"Sounds crazy. And painful. Hopefully the kids don't have it." Voight watched them running around with Kevin and Mouse who were both keeping an eye out for Milo making sure he didn't fall again. "Yeah I agree. I'm just happy it's getting harder to pop my shoulders out. That one was the really crazy one. I still can slightly." She dropped her left shoulder as far as it would go letting everyone feel the gap in the joint. "That's so freaky! Kim!" Erin was completely freaked out. But Kim just laughed adjusting her shoulder so it was normal again. "It was worse! You could fit multiple fingers in the gap before hand. And my ankle hasn't separated in years so bonus." Kim was still laughing at Erin. "It's different that's for sure. Not something I would wish anyone." Voight shook his head. "Agreed." Kim stated watching the kids. "Was the basketball injury how you got the backwards vertebrae?" Adam asked as only he knew about that. "No that was a car accident. I was car number 2 in a four car pile up. And the only car. The others were SUV's. I walked away with whiplash and the flipped vertebrae. I was lucky for sure. It was bumper to bumper traffic and my car was stopped when I was hit. And I barely hit the car in front of me. But I was pissed! I was late for work because of that shit." Kim was getting annoyed all over again.
"Sounds crazy. What kind of car did you have?" Jay asked, he loved cars. "Oh it was my super sexy Dodge Neon SXT!" Kim laughed knowing it was all but sexy. "Ha! A sports engine in a neon? That hysterical!" Jay laughed almost rolling. "Hey I loved that car! It was the first car I bought all on my own. Right off the carrier. My payments were only 247. It was legit the best!" She really did love that car. "That's great! And very affordable. I assume you were living in Delaware at this time?" Adam asked knowing the timing fit. "Yeah my big 7 mile commute to work. Damn beach traffic." Kim shook her head annoyed. "Where did you work?" Erin asked since they never talked about it. "I was the store manager of a Swiss chocolate shop. The money was okay and worked around my schedule with school so it was perfect." Kim was proud of herself for those days. "Sounds like a great job. Selling chocolate all day compared to working with dead bodies sounds so much better." Erin stated almost wistfully. "Maybe but the economy is rough on retail especially now. Brick and mortar stores are going away. Everything is mostly online now. It's the only thing that makes sense." Kim knew people had no idea how much it took to run a retail shop.
"I think the kids are crashing Kim." Adam watched them slowing down rubbing their eyes. "Oh yeah. They are going to crash hard soon. Hopefully it's not too ugly." Kim shuddered knowing how ugly it could get. "It will be fine." He moved to the deck. "Kiddos! Let's start getting ready for bed okay? Start saying your thanks you's and good nights." Adam called out watching the kids moving towards him. "They are going to need to be carried at this point." Kim watched them dragging along. The kids were passed around everyone getting a hug before Adam took them both to bed. Both kids mostly asleep. Kim couldn't help but watch in awe. "He's a great father. Has been for a while but I'm happy the kids gave him the title. It's well deserved for sure." Jay looked at her knowing she was lost in her family had just left her view. "Yeah we knew it could take a long time and we agreed it had to be on their schedule. But you are right it's well deserved. He just hits it out of the park all the time." Kim was amazed by him. "He told me he's just trying to be the dad his wasn't. Available, present, showing up and never letting them fall. He knows how not to parent that is for sure." Jay wasn't sure Kim knew they talked about it.
"Sounds about right considering how he was raised. We all know Bob wasn't the best dad. I also think Adam just wants to be the dad Paul wasn't. Trying to make up for the past some. He never misses an opportunity to play with that, do art projects with that or teach them new things. It's pretty great having a partner. Not feeling alone in doing everything." She still hadn't moved her eyes from the stairs. "On that note we are all leaving! Have a great night. See you tomorrow." Kim hugged everyone and thanked them all for all they did for her and her family. She locked up and headed up to her family. She watched Adam stepping out of the kids room. "Hey. Are they asleep again?" Kim asked moving closer to him. "Yup. Our company gone?" He watched her nod. "Well I think I promised you a bath tonight. So let's go." He led her to their room. "You truly are a beautiful father." She kissed him slowly. "And you are the most beautiful mother to our children. I never imagined finding a woman so pure and true. So gentle, kind, loving, compassionate but strong, fierce, determined and down right a force to be reckoned with." He returned the kiss long and slow.
"Skip the bath. Loving time." Kim winked as she started to remove his clothes. His eyes never leaving hers as he striped her bare lifting her up and placing her to the bed. He moved them both so they were lying on their sides, chest to chest as he made love to her. He knew this was her favorite being able to feel every clenched muscle, every ragged breath, every tear as the couple celebrated the change in their family. As the couple lay sweaty, panting in the wake of their love making Kim looked up to wipe the tears from:his eyes. "How are you feeling daddy?" She knew he loved it but she wanted to hear his thoughts. "God it feels amazing. I was scared for a bit when he said he wanted a daddy. And I was afraid that he wouldn't want me as his dad. But it was honestly magical when he said it. I cried, I really cried tears of joy. Hugging my son who just called me daddy for the first time. It's beyond words. But thank you for giving me this Kim. My beautiful family. I love you and them so damn much!" He felt Kim crying as well but the smile was bright. "Thank you for making our family come alive again. We could have never made here without you. I love you so fucking much!" She continued to cry tears of joy as they kissed.
The couple fell asleep hours later exhausted from the day but blissfully happy with how the day had gone. It was a crushing low but the highs that came from it was beyond words for any of them. They couldn't wait to hear it again and to see how the family continued to transform under a father's love and attention. But they were also excited for their family getaway just a few more days away. It was much needed and they knew it would be full of great memories for them all.
