I am so late to this and it's not even the right day, if you came from Tumblr where this event was announced you'll know each day has two prompts to choose from I decided to do all of them (Hence the 12 chapter which should be obvious.) So, here's part two of day one I worked on this all day and a bit of last night it's late not what the prompt is looking for but I figured why not showcase the start of the two living together. Enjoy the chapter.
"Well, that's the last of it." Benny grunted, dusting off his hands as he carried in the last of the boxes.
"Thanks guys; we really appreciate the help." Sarah thanked,
"No problem, Sar." Cindy smiled, "I think it's great that you and Ethan are moving in together."
"Heck, you two are about to start college; it's about time you move forward in your relationship." Emily stated,
"So, you guys need any help unpacking cause Dakota and Mabel promised they'd help me move into my dorm." Rory questioned,
"Nah, we're fine. We'll meet up at the restaurant in a few hours, okay?" Ethan checked,
"Roger that, old friend's old pals." Mabel understood,
"Let us know if you need help again; you know we'll drop everything to come here." Dakota added,
"We know, thanks guys, but we should be fine." Sarah smiled, very happy her friends were there when they needed them.
"Alright, we'll leave you to it." Mimi waved as the group left Ethan and Sarah's new apartment.
"Yeah, see ya." Ethan waved as he shut the door with a sigh. "So, where do we begin?"
"Living room, we've got some stuff that needs connecting." Sarah replied,
"Living room, it is."
At first, things went smoothly; the two worked together connecting the TV, Ethan's game console, the coffee maker, and the computers in their rooms. (They weren't quite ready to share a bedroom yet.) Overall, they were making quick work of the pile of boxes that littered their new home.
Ethan was moving some stuff to his room when an old book fell down.
"Whoops." Ethan picked it up and recognized it as their old scrapbook from their high school years. "Hey Sarah!"
"Yeah Eth?!"
"Come here, I found something!"
Sarah came into the room wondering what her boyfriend had found: "What is it?"
"Remember this?" He asked, showing her the scrapbook,
"Oh my gosh, I thought we lost that. Emily, Benny, and I have been looking for it all over the place."
"Want to take a break and reminisce on some old memories?"
Sarah laughed, "Of course, but not too long; we're meeting the gang in about twenty minutes."
Sarah and Ethan sat on the couch and opened the book. Inside the first few pages were pictures of Ethan and his friends before the supernatural plagued their lives.
A picture of him, Benny, and Rory gathered in the front yard at Ethan's house the night they graduated middle school; Their parents insisted on getting photos of them together since they've been best friends since childhood. It was weird seeing them so young Rory was not only shorter than the two but was also wearing his old glasses, Ethan nearly forgot he used to wear them. It's been years since Rory, Erica, and Sarah became vampires that he forgot what they looked like beforehand. There were also old pictures of Sarah and Erica and a few pages where Jesse was seen, mostly with Emily or his old drama club. Ethan couldn't help but wonder if their souls still haunted Whitechapel. It's even stranger to think no one noticed the club disappeared in the first place.
Then there were pictures of Dakota and her friends, the day they moved into town, a picture of Rory, Dakota, and Mabel. (Their favorite picture, actually, Dakota always loved Rory in glasses.)
Pictures of their hangouts, that Emily or his mom would take without them noticing. Random pictures taken at Jesse's vampire party the night Erica and Rory were turned into vampires and the day everyone's world was turned upside down and life as they knew it would never be the same
Dakota's performances, the night Benny unleashed undead animals throughout town to impress Della, who sadly moved away years ago, Their high school yearbook photos evil doppelganger-free, mind you. Ethan trying out for wrestling to get coach Ed off his back; he was in there too. Ethan and Emily wrote the words jerk and world's worst coach in red marker; he wouldn't be surprised if the former gym coach saw that since odd things happened to both of them after they did that.
There were even pictures Ethan didn't even know were taken, they were taken during their fights. At the dusk screening, where the group's powers were on full display, Rory was killing it with his new sword, Mabel with her Beam Mage ability, and Dakota fighting along side them with her Pikachu hat and Rainbow Wand. Cindy and Amy were seen in the background; in fact, the whole group had pictures dedicated to their first big fight. Gord was seen facing off against Sarah, with Erica standing a little ways away.
The cubile animus before they buried it; Rory being possessed by that evil tree; Rory and Benny as zombies; Rory, Erica, and Dakota together after being rescued when those vampire nurses kidnapped them Rory also scored his first kiss that way.
"Wow, I never realized how unlucky Rory was." Ethan spoke aloud,
"Honestly, I didn't." Sarah admitted with a chuckle,
The school dance, their graduation, Queen Lucia?! Ethan didn't know Emily got a photo of her, or maybe it was Dakota; she didn't hold as big of a grudge towards the Sky Queen, unlike Mabel, who'd wish her dead if she ever saw her again. But after that incident, Dakota couldn't look them in the eyes for a bit. Even now, whenever any of them are shirtless, Dakota becomes a blushing mess, Rory still has yet to wear swim trunks without her nearly passing out from a noise bleed. Looking back, Ethan didn't even know why he and the entire male student body thought she was so hot. Well, most of it was thanks to the hypnosis they were under, but in hindsight, they really should have known she was taken with the way she spoke about the Sun King, or at least Ethan is pretty sure that's her husband and not just the equivalent of a god her culture blindly worshipped.
Halloween photos from various years Rory, Mabel, and Dakota took up most slots with their many couple costumes; how they even had room for half their stuff will always bewilder the group.
Heck, even the picture of Benny and Erica drunkenly making out during their senior New Year's party was here; the two were beyond drunk, and Benny wasn't even 21 yet. Those two will always have the weirdest relationship. More party pictures from Jesse's house; they were private parties this time and more on the downlow, not on the same scale as freshmen year.
More photos that were taken in the last year until the scrapbook was full. Near the end, it was dedicated to their high school graduation, with the last pages being specific to each of them. They each chose photos from throughout their lives and customized their page to their liking. Even though most of them weren't scrapbookers, the pages they made weren't half bad. Ethan liked how his turned out, as did everyone else's. Sarah chose purple as her primary color scheme; his was black. choosing things that lean towards the supernatural side, like little bats and symbols that felt right for his seer ability. Benny had a magic theme, Erica was full on dusk and vampires, Dakota and Mabel had pink sparkles, stickers, and pictures of each other, and BFFs were glued in big glittery letters.
Rory's was the definition of his personality: random little things that he was into at the time, and of course Dakota and Mabel were there, and above their pictures he wrote, "My God Tier Girlfriends'." Ethan couldn't help but smile at how happy everyone was.
"We've come a long way since your first year of high school." Sarah spoke quietly, feeling very nostalgic.
"We really have, haven't we? I mean, we met Dakota and her friends nearly five years ago; time really flies when you're kicking supernatural butt." Ethan laughed. "You know, I think we should buy another scrapbook. I really want to capture more memories with you."
Sarah blushed and laughed, agreeing with the seer's statement, "I want that too; how about this? We head to the craft store and grab two: one for group photos and outings and one that's for you and me."
"I love it; how about after dinner? I have a feeling the group will want to know we found this."
"I love that idea." Sarah beamed, leaning in for a kiss. Ethan followed her lead, leaning in too, when their little moment was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Oh great, who could that be?" Ethan grumbled, both shocked and disappointed at being interrupted.
Sarah sighed, "Must be the girl's we're late." She said going to the door as Ethan looked at the clock on the wall, and sure enough, it was 5:30. They were 30 minutes late. "Great, where did the time go?" He sighed as he got up to greet his friends, but when Sarah opened the door, they were surprised to see
"Jesse!? What are you doing here?" He asked as Jesse Black stood by the door with Emily, who gave a friendly wave,
"Well, if you must know, Emily invited me to the restaurant you're going to."
"I did not." She clarified, "You invited yourself; I ran into him on the way here."
"It was a mutual agreement; I have a reservation there as well. So, since Emily was going that way, I figured it wouldn't be horrible to pick you guys up together."
"I did not agree to this; shut up, man, before I kill you again!" Emily threatened, but the smile on her face showed it was empty. Jesse and Emily became pretty close to each other during Ethan's sophomore year, and after defeating Stern, he kind of just stuck around. Much to the dismay of many, Jesse has changed for the better, so any apprehensive feelings have mostly disappeared.
"Hey, is that our old scrapbook? Dude, I've been looking for that everywhere!" Emily gasped.
"Yeah, turns out it was packed away; it must have gotten mixed up while we were packing."
"Oh, I have got to take a look. But I won't; you're late and everyone's wondering where you are; so, are you ready to go or..."
"No, we're ready, Ems. Sorry we got distracted." Sarah apologized, feeling a little guilty for keeping everyone waiting.
"Well, then what are we waiting for? Let's get a move on; I'm hungry."
Sarah and Ethan grabbed their coats and locked the door, leaving their new apartment building behind.
"So, did you hear Dakota and Mabel are thinking of moving in with Rory after college?" The festy angel asked,
"Wait really? Isn't it a little too soon?" Jesse replied,
"Those three have been together since they were fifteen. If you ask me, I think it's fine that they're thinking of moving their relationship forward."
Ethan smiled as he and Sarah walked beside their best friends. Seeing how much had changed, Ethan couldn't help but wonder what the future holds; no matter what happens, he couldn't wait to make more memories with his best friends and girlfriend.
After all, memories are meant to be treasured.
I have made it my goal to include Rory, Mabel, and Dakota in each chapter in some way no matter how minor it is. Not much I can say since I doubt, I can keep up with this story for a whole week, but I'll try. Hopefully tomorrow I can start work on prompt three sick day if not well, I'll get around to it eventually see you next time guys.
