Magic is Real
(^^)

"Magic is real," Harry announced into the comfortable silence that had fallen between the group of friends who had gathered in the study room the Slytherins had created out of one of the many, many abandoned rooms in the castle. He was lying on the couch, stretched out over the legs of both Daphne and Tracey. On the other couch, Luna and Astoria were curled into either side of Theo, one of each of their hands interwoven together and resting on Theo's stomach. Their foreheads were touching as they both used their boyfriend as a pillow. The only one of their group missing was Blaise who had managed to get a detention from Sprout.

"Yes," Tracey agreed easily. She traced her fingers over the engraved silver band with royal purple stones around his ankle, a courting gift from Blaise after they had realized they were soulmates. It had already protected him on multiple occasions. Sensitive to magic as she was, Tracey loved playing with all of their enchanted items when they were having one of their cuddling sessions like they were right then. "Magic is real."

"Harry," Astoria started, sounding a bit like she was trying not to laugh, "are you really in NEWT level classes and are just now figuring out that magic is real?"

"No," Harry denied, "but also yes."

He frowned at the stone ceiling, well aware that to the magically raised friends around him, he probably sounded a bit like Luna in one of her near-trances. In fact, Luna was probably the only one of them who might actually know what he was referencing. She had attended (and completed) muggle schooling before coming to Hogwarts, after all. He sat up with a groan, sacrificing his comfortable position so that he could summon the book he needed from his bag without risking it smacking him the face again.

"Muggles have their own ideas about magic," he explained as he showed them the cover of The Player's Handbook for the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. Luna's face broke out in a grin as she understood what he was saying (and more than likely where he would be going with this topic). Tracey made grabby hands towards the book, eager as always to learn something new. Harry handed it over to her. "It's just now occurring to me that magic is real, and with the proper application, at least some of the spells in this book should be possible."

"Harry," Luna said, her tone raising and falling like the notes of birdsong, "are you thinking what I am thinking?"

"That depends, Luna," Harry hedged but only slightly. "Are you thinking about magic missiles?"

Luna's smile seemed to be extra toothy all of a sudden.
