Reaching Infinity

Blaise and Theo had met while they had been waiting to be sorted. Their eyes had locked across the crowded room, and music seemed to fill the air. Blaise had been captivated by the way Theo's slim frame was enveloped in his open robes with a loose fitting, violet poet's shirt and coal black slacks held up by a braided leather belt. He had felt an immediate connection with the other boy and wanted to know more.
As they gotten to know each other, Blaise learned that Theo was a trans boy, which only made him more intrigued. He noticed the way Theo's voice had a softness to it, just as alluring as Blaise's own, and the way his hands moved gracefully as he spoke. They bonded over their shared love of music and their shared annoyance with their housemate Draco Malfoy.
In their third year, Theo even invited Blaise to his band practice that week. Of course, Blaise jumped at the chance to see the boy he had a crush on perform.
At the practice, Blaise watched as Theo effortlessly navigated the room, using the drumsticks to create an invisible orchestra. The music swirled around him and seemed to draw everyone in, creating a connection between the musicians and listeners alike. Blaise found himself lost in the beauty of the sound, in awe of the way Theo was able to capture the emotion and energy in each note. It was very much like what Blaise's mother could do.
Theo looked up and caught Blaise's gaze, and suddenly Blaise was sure, despite his young age: he was in love. He hadn't expected to feel this way about another boy, but it felt too right to ignore. After practice, Blaise decided to take a chance and asked Theo how he felt about being courted.
Theo agreed easily enough but warned that his family might not be so accepting of a courtship offer. The current Lord Nott was very traditional, dangerously so as he had served as a Death Eater. That only made Blaise more determined to save his love from potential harm. He had sent a message to his mother right away to have her initiate the process.
Blaise spent the next few days counting down the hours. When the letter from Lord Nott had finally arrived, Blaise was a bundle of nerves, but it only made the anticipation that much sweeter. There really wasn't any good reason for the courtship to be rejected. Even the neutrality that his family had kept during the height of the war would be nothing but a boon in the current political climate. Fortunately, there had been no need to worry. Both families had agreed to the courtship.
Ecstatic, Blaise had asked to escort Theo to the next Hogsmeade weekend. Theo had been just as happy to agree. They walked around the tiny village before ending up at Madam Puddingfoot's Tea Shop. As they talked, Blaise felt a sense of ease come over him. He was beginning to understand why he had never been able to let go of his feelings for Theo, no matter how hard he tried.
In that moment, he knew that he had been searching for something he hadn't even realized he was missing. With Theo, he felt seen and accepted in a way that he had never experienced before. The tea shop seemed to disappear around them as the two boys talked and laughed and fed each other bites of berry tarts, the music in the background providing the perfect soundtrack for the afternoon.
At the end of the evening, Blaise couldn't help but feel a sense of utter joy, as if he had reached out and touched the stars. He knew that he had found something truly special in Theo, something that could not be easily found. That night, as he walked home, he couldn't help but feel that he had reached infinity.
