A/N: I just wanted to let you know that I have an Instagram page now. You can follow me there if you'd like, check out for updates and some more stuff, as well as you are free to come chat with me if you want to :)

Flashnews: Fanfiction hates Instagram apparently lol. I've saved this document uncountable times with my username and it just won't show, and I thought I disguised it well. So it is 'at' followed by my name here 'mistressofthepuppets' followed by a 'dot' and 'ff'. All together and in lower case.

The three of them look alternatively between each other. Santana is running out of excuses for this kind of stuff as Alonso grows up, and right now both her and Brittany look like deer caught in headlights while Sonso looks at them expectantly, crossing his little arms over his chest pretty much Lopez style. The silence is heavy and deafening but neither of the adults is sure about how to answer to that. Are they in love? Isn't it too soon for that? But they do have feelings, like, strong feelings. How do you explain that to a six year-old? So many questions.

"We should call grandma." Santana says as she can't think of a suitable way of replying to her son's question. Then she moves through the room looking for her phone.

Brittany decides to stay quiet as she nervously runs her fingers through her own hair, and Alonso scoffs. He is not happy about being dismissed. He is sweet and very well-behaved, but Brittany is starting to see he has Santana's genes. Same stubbornness and feisty attitude. She likes it. She is also trying to find something to tell him, but she wouldn't dare speak in behalf of Santana, and she is kind of scared that, if she talks about her own feelings, she will find out that they are one sided. She doesn't think they are but she can't be sure. It's not like she has talked to Santana after their delicious rendezvous the previous night.

Soon Santana is back next to them and signals them both to sit on the couch as she dials a phone number and puts it on speaker, taking herself a seat on the arm of the couch next to Brittany.

"Sandbags!" Says an elderly female voice when the phone is picked up and Brittany's eyebrows fly up across her forehead. She thought Santana was calling her mother? Santana snickers quietly at her reaction, and mouths a quick 'later' to her.

"Hi, Sue. Merry Christmas." She says softly.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, kiddo." Sue answers and Brittany doesn't know if she should be surprised or if she should laugh. She thinks the woman is kind of funny, but if this is Santana's mother...Brittany thinks she is actually rude. "Did you and my boy have a good Christmas Eve?".

"We did." Santana says curtly, clearing her throat ans blushing slightly. "Did you?"

"I would have, if you hadn't hauled your ass to the friggin' middle of nowhere, you know." Sue answers humorously. "But it was fine, nothing compared to when I survived B Hepatitis."

Brittany is holding her ribs in order to not laugh out loud. She still is not sure if the woman is serious or just has the darkest sense of humour she has ever heard, but the conversation makes zero sense to her and that fulfils her inner child. Santana nudges her softly with her elbow.

"Grandma! Did you get any presents?" Alonso chimes in happily.

"Oh, hello there, sir. I did, in fact. Turns out I haven't been mean enough this year." She says. "Did you?" She adds with a tone that Brittany would describe as strict.

"Yes! They were super awesome. I got a lot of presents. And mama did, too!" He answers moving closer to the phone, that way leaning over Brittany's lap. Britt instinctively puts an arm around him so he won't fall off her and Santana smiles softly at such a natural gesture.

"Oh did she now?" Sue asks with a snicker. "That's a surprise."

"Hey!" Santana chimes in, falsely annoyed.

"Yep, she got a girlfriend for Christmas." Says Alonso with a proud smile on his face.

Well, shit.

"She's not my girlfriend." Santana says through gritted teeth as she blushes profusely.

"Finally, Santana. It was about time. Your gloomy face was starting to give me a rash." Brittany snickers quietly again at that. "Is she there?" Sue asks.

"Yes!" The three of them reply at unison.

"Well, nice to meet you, Blondie." Sue says and Brittany arches an eyebrow looking at Santana.

"I'm not blonde, ma'am." Brittany says, trying to sound confident, still looking at Santana as the Latina busies herself looking at her own nails.

"Oh, of course you are. If my Santana is interested in you, there is no way you are not blonde. Ginger...maybe. No. You are blonde. You have done the deed already, you are the epitome of blondes."

"She is blonde!" Alonso says laughing happily as he rolls over Brittany's lap, whose grip on him tightens without her realising it herself. Santana notices though. She loves how caring the blonde is with him.

"Is she psychic?" Brittany asks at the same time, looking at Santana, who kind of wants to dig a hole in the ground and disappear.

"Not psychic, Goldilocks, but Lopez has taught me a thing or two about a Mexican Third Eye she claims to have." Sue says with a devilish snicker. "She can't see shit with that eye, though." She adds.

"Language, mother. Alonso is here." She huffs. "And Brittany is not my girlfriend." She adds, for good measure.

"Oh, wow. Brittany is such a blonde name." Sue adds an it's the first time Brittany has heard her truly laugh. It's airy and kind of fresh. She still isn't sure if she likes this woman or not, but she's leaning into the option of liking her. "Well, Brittany..." Suddenly her voice turns serious. "I know Santana can be a lot to handle, believe me, I made her as a resemblance of myself, proudly so. But if you ever dare to hurt her, I will hunt you down to the confines of this sorry excuse of a planet, I will skin you alive and I will feed you your own intestines. Am I clear?"

"Yes, ma'am." Is all Brittany is capable of saying. She isn't so sure about liking her anymore, now she's kind of terrified.

"Great. You all have a lovely rest of your days." She says calmly. "Mijo, I love you. Be good to your mama, okay?" She asks and after Sonso answers her, she ends the call without waiting for a goodbye from Santana.

"That was...interesting..." Brittany says, still stunned.

"Mama, Grandma likes her!" Alonso says as he fully climbs up onto Brittany's lap and rests his head on the crook of her neck. "Why isn't she your girlfriend if we all like her?" He adds, still talking to her mother even if his voice is muffled by Brittany's hair. "And why were you kissing if you are not girlfriends? That's gross."

Again with the tough questions. Brittany decides she will speak up about her feelings and if she is unrequited, then so be it, but the boy deserves to know what's going on.

"You see, Alonso..." Brittany starts quietly, glancing at Santana, who looks struck by a lightning. "Sometimes adult people don't need to be in a relationship to kiss. A kiss expresses love, yes? You kiss your mama all the time because you love her, don't you?"

"Yes, but on the mouth? Ew. I've only see Evan's parents do that and they have been married for like a hundred years." Alonso answers, moving a little to be able to directly look at Brittany. Santana is also scrutinising her with her dark mocha eyes. Talk about sheer pressure.

"A kiss on the lips symbolises that kind of love, that's true. But it can mean a lot of things. I do like your mama. I like her a lot. She makes me feel butterflies in my tummy every time she looks at me, and she makes me feel warm and safe. She is not my girlfriend, yet, and I don't know if I'd say I'm in love with her, but I kiss her on the mouth to let her know that I feel all this things for her." She says and blushes so hard even her ears turn red. This time she doesn't even dare to look in the direction where Santana is.

Alonso nods softly in understanding while Santana moves to stand up behind the couch where Brittany is sitting, wraps her arms loosely around her neck and kisses the top of her head softly.

"A kiss on the head can mean 'thank you' or 'I care about you' or 'you'll always be safe with me'." Her raspy voice fills the room and both Alonso and Brittany smile dreamily. Brittany leans back into Santana's arms as Alonso cuddles back into her body.

Alonso now understands what's happening and he is happy about it, because he really likes Brittany and because he thinks she takes the best out of his mom, and that makes him happy because he knows she is an amazing woman, but not everybody sees her that way.

Santana thinks she maybe should have said something else to make clear that she feels the same things as Brittany, but also, as the over-thinker she is, she is starting to feel uneasy about their departure. They only have a week and a couple more days together, and then their lives will take them a whole country away from each other. How are they going to handle that? She decides that will be a bridge she'll burn once they get to it. For now she will enjoy what she has. Deep, deep inside, she also thinks Brittany would be a great addition to her family.

And Brittany doesn't need anything else. The few words Santana spoke were enough to ease her mind. Right now she is the happiest she has ever been, with this extraordinary woman and her extraordinary son, curled up on a couch. She always though she need a big adventure, something exciting to happen in her life. She was wrong, all she needed was this. Maybe, just maybe, she is in love.
