Time flew when you were enjoying life, or so it had been mentioned before that most didn't realize how much time passed. It had been over a year that Harry and Severus had been remarried and bonded, but the length of their actual union from the first go had been three years today. It was August 2nd, 1999. Much had happened. First, the rest of that night had been incredible to celebrate with family and friends.
The favor Harry had asked of Draco was to fetch his aunt and cousin from Surrey, so Petunia and Dudley attended the wedding. Harry not only danced with his husband, but with Molly, Narcissa, and even Petunia. Harry and Severus were home by 9:30 pm, and spent the rest of it making love and boy it had been magical too.
The following week from that had been making plans for their traveling, thrown in the memorial service for those who had died during Voldemort's time both during the first and second wars. That was hard for Harry because the notable people mentioned were Dobby, and his parents, James and Lily Potter. Petunia and Dudley had been present for that too.
Harry made a request of Kingsley that even though Petunia and Dudley were muggles, they shouldn't be treated any differently than muggleborn parents did, who still got to be part of the wizarding world despite having no magic. Kingsley allowed it, understanding that Harry wanted to involve his family as much as possible.
Another event that week had been the recognition ceremony. It hadn't been something Harry wanted to attend, but he didn't want Kingsley catching trouble for not doing it. Harry was recognized as a hero for his many defeats over Voldemort, plus the fact he had literally sacrificed his life to ensure everyone's safety. Harry received an Order of Merlin, First Class.
So did Severus, Lucius, Narcissa, Draco, Hermione, Sirius, and Ron for their help in aiding Harry for those nine months on the run to find and destroy the horcruxes. Harry did take his NEWTs, privately, at the ministry and he passed everything with Exceeds Expectations or Outstanding. Notably, the Outstanding scores had been in Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Muggle Studies, and Care of Magical Creatures.
In addition to that, Harry earned a certificate for Mastery of Defense. It had been a surprise, and no one even knew Harry had taken his NEWTs until the scores came in. Harry had then explained to everyone he requested it of Kingsley as part of the deal to join the auror force.
That happened the last week of May. Another thing to happen was Harry and Severus going to Hogwarts to move Sal's picture from Severus's old quarters, as well clean out books and potion things. The Chamber of Secrets was officially empty now, but Harry gave an exclusive interview to describe things, show pictures, just to spread the knowledge of where it was and its history.
When June began, Harry and Severus set out for their three-month honeymoon to travel the world. It had been such a great trip to see the sights, eat food from all over, and just have a good time as a couple. Upon returning towards the end of August that year, Severus sold Spinner's End while Harry sold a few of his own places and the two of them took up residence in Godric's Hollow, inside the Peverell Home, now renamed to Potter-Snape.
It had been perfect for them after the searching had no luck, plus, the memories were actually a helpful healing tool for Harry and Severus. In September, Harry started training to become an auror while Severus began his work in opening a Potion Shop in Diagon Alley. He actually took over the original one there, retirement or something.
Business was booming these days, plus, Severus had someone to handle customers while he brewed and he had a brewing assistant. Harry finished auror training ahead of the rest and currently paired up to work with Tonks.
Others who had joined the force with him were Ron, Blaise, Seamus, Neville, Theodore, and Pansy. However, Neville ended up leaving to take up a job at Hogwarts as Herbology Professor. Sirius and Remus joined the auror force too. Draco, and Dean ended up as healers, along with Narcissa. Lucius stayed working in the ministry. The rest all found their calling and life was amazing for everyone.
Remus and Tonks named Harry as Teddy's godfather, and Hermione as godmother. Draco was finally interested in someone, Astoria Greengrass, who was two years younger than Draco, but currently about to go into her final year of Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione were engaged after Hermione finished her schooling, but were not yet married.
Percy Weasley did marry Audrey. Fred was still with Angelina, George with Alicia. Neville and Hannah were doing well. So were Seamus and Dean. Luna had met a nice boy, Rolf Scamander, who was actually Newt Scamander's grandson.
Harry still didn't know what was up with Ginny, but he knew she was doing something with a Quidditch career. For Harry, his life was perfect. Among all the things he did for work, and home life, Harry worked through his depression and was doing much better having faced old things and put them in the past.
Enough that he let Severus top him when they made love. It was a random thing for them now, but they usually kept to the normal of Severus being bottom and Harry topping him. Yes, everything was going amazingly and Harry was so glad he never gave in. That he kept fighting to get where he was now.
At the moment, Harry was at work but unfortunately, he wasn't feeling very well. There wasn't much field work, but there was plenty of paperwork. It was nearing dinner time while he was at his desk and working on reports from recent missions. A few of the escaped Death Eaters had been found and captured, that was the main priority among rebuilding the force up. Harry just signed on the last case file he had to do, it was nearly time to go home.
Harry worked, typically, from 9 am to 5 pm on a normal day in the office. Case work could depend if there was traveling involved, or late nights to stake out. Regardless, Harry loved the work. But he loved quitting time too, more because he and Severus usually worked the same schedule, so they were always home around the same time. When the clock struck 4:58 pm, Harry gathered up his things and began to get ready to leave.
"Potter!" His boss, Gwain Robarbs, called.
Harry looked over, fighting the oncoming nausea. "Sir?"
"Great work today on capturing two more from the list." Gwain informed. "I'm impressed. Haven't seen work like this since Moody from the first war."
"Thank you, sir." Harry replied. "Well, see you tomorrow morning. Have a good night." He went to stand up but his legs got weak and he staggered.
"You alright?" Gwain inquired.
"Yeah, yeah…Just been a busy day." Harry assured as he grabbed his things and walked out of his cubicle, waving his wand to protect the space.
"Well, go on home to your husband. If I'm not wrong, it's your anniversary…Isn't it?" Gwain grinned.
Harry nodded with a smile. "Yeah. Three years…"
"Then my gift to you for your hard work today, take tomorrow off with your husband." Gwain said.
"Sir, that's not necessary…" Harry argued.
"Are you disobeying a direct order, Potter?" Gwain raised his brow.
"No, no. Never, sir." Harry straightened quickly.
"Then move out. Seriously, take the day off with your husband. You've been working like crazy since you became a full auror, Harry. You deserve the break. Go on. I'll see you Wednesday." Gwain remarked.
"Yes, sir. Thank you…" Harry responded as he started to head for the elevator. Gwain in tow. The two loaded in and the elevator began its descent to the main floor where Harry would either catch the floo network or head to the apparition point, which let him apparate close to his and Severus's place, then he'd walk the rest of the way.
The elevator ride did not help Harry deal with the nausea he felt. Gwain watched quietly as Harry was leaning against the wall, eyes closed as if trying to will something away. "Alright, what's going on with you, Potter?"
"Nothing, sir." Harry admitted.
"No, you're not okay. You look like you're in pain. Did you get hit with anything on the mission today?" Gwain inquired.
"No, sir." Harry responded. "Standard dueling with an enemy. It's very likely just fatigue."
"Fatigue or not, I'm not convinced. Get yourself checked out, would you?" Gwain sighed. "I know your history, Potter. You have a tendency to keep things to yourself." Knowing he couldn't argue with the man, Harry agreed. As the elevator hit bottom, the force made Harry grip the wall to keep from falling. "I'll see you Wednesday." Gwain mentioned as he prepared to step out, but he looked back at Harry.
Gwain found the man bent forward slightly, trying to catch his breath. "Potter?" Robarbs didn't leave the elevator. "Potter, hey!" Without warning, Harry blacked out and Gwain got right to his side. "Potter!?...Harry? Someone get me some help!" He yelled. The main floor was always busy, tons of people were still there around this time.
It didn't take long for people to come rushing to try and help, but eventually, they just moved him to St. Mungo's.
. . .
Severus had been enjoying tea with the Malfoy, though he'd be heading home soon because Harry would be arriving. They planned a quiet evening for their anniversary.
"I'll likely be leaving after this cup," Severus informed. "Harry's due home shortly."
Draco had been sipping his tea when he felt something in his pocket heating up and vibrating. "Huh?" Draco pulled the object, it was his healer's badge for St. Mungo's. It's where he had to do his training, and ended up working there. "Guess there's an emergency."
"I thought you had tonight off, son?" Lucius inquired.
"No. I was only on break. I won't be off for another three hours, but I have to go. Apparently someone's been brought into emergency from the ministry, passed out in the elevator." Draco got up.
"Hope they're alright." Severus said gently.
The fireplace flared as Sirius poked his head in. "Hello, cousin." Narcissa smiled.
"Wish I were here for pleasantries. Severus…Something happened to Harry." Sirius informed.
"What do you mean something happened to Harry? What, Black?"
"I don't know the details. Remus, Tonks, and I were in the ministry atrium when there was a stir near the elevators. Gwain was calling for help because Harry blacked out. No one knows why yet. But you're his husband and you have the right to know he's been sent to St. Mungo's." Sirius explained.
Draco and Severus looked at one another. "We'll meet you there." The two said as Sirius disappeared.
"Let us know." Narcissa hoped.
"As soon as we know something." Draco promised before he and Severus got into the fireplace and called for St. Mungo's.
Once there, the two rushed to emergency where Draco went right to treat Harry, but Severus knew he had to wait while they worked. Sirius and Remus were there, so was Ron and Hermione. Everyone looked worried, but Robarbs was against the wall and Severus went right to him.
"What happened?" Severus demanded. "Don't you feed me any excuses either, Robarbs. Harry is my husband, I am the only one privy to information about his well being…"
"Severus, if I had an answer for you…I'd give it to you. But I don't know what happened." Gwain stated. "It started in the department, Harry seemed off and I asked if he was okay. He told me he was fine and not to worry."
"Why did he seem off?" Ron inquired.
"When he was getting his things to leave, I noticed that he had to grip the desk to keep from falling. Like his legs got weak. It lasted a moment, he told me not to worry. We got in the elevator and he seemed to be using the wall to stay up. He looked like he was in pain, or trying not to throw up. I told him that I didn't want arguments about the matter of getting checked out by a healer." Gwain paused.
"I know he was in an intense duel today, capturing a couple targets…I thought perhaps he'd been hit by something and brushing it off. He assured me that wasn't the case. When the elevator stopped; he was bent forward, breathing hard. I asked if he was alright, and he just…Blacked out. We couldn't wake him, so we brought him here." Gwain explained.
"That does seem odd…" Remus agreed. "Maybe hit with something he didn't realize? It was two against one, from what I heard…"
"Why was he alone?" Sirius muttered.
"He wasn't." Tonks promised. "I was with him, but he was covering me after I got hit with a stunner."
Severus leaned against the wall near the door, arms folded, just wanting to know if his husband was okay.
Inside the room, Draco was working with a couple others to diagnose Harry.
"I don't understand this…" One healer said. "We've tried everything to diagnose him, but he seems…Fine. No spell damage, magical core great…No illnesses."
"Maybe that's the problem. We're looking for the normal issues," Draco suggested. "I want to try something out of the box, but I'm not calling this unsolvable without running it first." Draco went over to the cabinet and pulled out a clear vial with white liquid in it.
"You're running that test?" Draco's colleague inquired.
"Got nothing to lose by trying, and just because it's out there doesn't mean it's impossible. Just rare as hell, and Harry's the one person I know who impossible and rare things happen too. So yes…I'm trying it." Draco remarked as he uncapped the potion and pricked Harry's finger to let three drops of blood hit the liquid. Draco swirled it around as the color changed from white to red, obviously the blood mixing in, then finally…Purple. "Told you…If it can happen, it always happens to Harry."
"Do we tell his husband?" One asked.
"No. That should be up to Harry…Let's just get him something to help wake him. I know he was on a mission today, I bet all this came from overuse of magic. Or his body's way of letting him know something was up." Draco suggested.
The group worked to awaken Harry, it took a little time, though. Draco had gone out to update everyone that they were still working on Harry, but so far, they hadn't found anything wrong. Draco said they could sit in the room with Harry for a bit, so they were, and that's when Harry started to wake up. It was about 6:15 pm when he groaned and opened his eyes.
"Harry…Oh, Thank God…" Severus sighed in relief.
"Sev?" Harry asked. "What…Am I doing here?"
"You blacked out the ministry…Robarbs brought you in." Ron informed.
"What happened, pup?" Sirius questioned. "Gave us all a scare."
"I don't know. I was tired, felt nauseous and lightheaded…Everything went black after that." Harry admitted.
"And you told me you were fine." Gwain rolled his eyes.
"I felt fine, all day, until right then." Harry told him.
Draco came into the room again, hands in his white coat. "Good to see you awake, Mr. Potter-Snape."
"Harry," The male corrected his friend.
"Sorry. I'm on the clock until 8 pm, my friend. I'm treating you as I would any other patient." Draco assured. "How do you feel?"
"Alight, I guess. Little tired and weak," Harry confessed. "Figure out what caused it or have I just been working myself into an early grave?"
"If that's the case, I'm restricting your office and field hours," Gwain commented.
"Healer-Patient confidentiality. You all have to step out while I talk to Mr. Potter-Snape." Draco informed.
"I'm his husband…" Severus said.
"Doesn't matter, I'm afraid. It's the hospital's policy. I only converse the patient's condition with them, who he tells beyond that is up to him." Draco stated.
Not having much choice, they left the room and closed the door. Draco faced Harry calmly. "There's…Something wrong with me, isn't there?" Harry inquired.
"Nothing you won't recover from in six or so months," Draco remarked. Harry arched a brow. "Harry, I don't want you to freak out…We don't need a confused power up in the hospital. Alright? Promise me you won't freak out?"
"You've switched off the formality…" Harry noticed. "Tell me, whatever it is…"
"Harry…You're pregnant."
"I-I'm…What?" Harry stared.
"Pregnant. About twelve weeks in, almost thirteen, actually." Draco told him.
"Draco…That's not possible. I can't be…I'm a man. I'm married to a man. I've only slept with that man…I-I can't be pregnant. That kind of thing-," Harry was going off.
"Is very possible in our world, Harry." Draco assured. "Very rare, but possible. I wouldn't make this up, and I wouldn't lie to you about the situation." He paused. "We don't know much about what causes it to occur, as I said…Male pregnancy is rare. But from what we gathered over the years with research, it's something to do with magic and power level."
"Some reports have said the full moon was involved. Undetermined, but there may even be a soulmate factor in it." He revealed. "I obviously don't need to tell you how it happens. Same way it would between a man and woman, sex." He added. "With how far along you are, I'd say you got pregnant at the end of May. If we're going with the full moon theory, that was the 22nd."
"This…This is insane. You're telling me I'm three months pregnant, and never knew until now." Harry questioned.
"That is what I'm telling you." Draco nodded. "Women experience different types of pregnancies, some don't even realize it until the belly shows. Some report being sick as hell, others report feeling like any other day. It's possible that you just didn't think anything out of the norm because you had no idea this could happen. Why would you have ever worried about getting pregnant." He stated. "You mentioned feeling nauseous, and tired…Weak."
"It's possible that in the beginning, you didn't feel anything until it hit a point where the work you do has gotten your body to send the signals to slow down because you're carrying precious cargo in it. That be the baby." He clarified. "The magic usage was likely a factor. But you didn't notice anything? Weight gain, food cravings or aversions? Using the bathroom a lot?" Harry shook his head.
"Well, like I said…It might have just been that pregnancy didn't affect you until you've become farther along and your body is doing more work to support the baby." Draco mentioned. "I'm sure this is…Startling to you, Harry, but I promise it's a real thing. You are pregnant, obviously no guess to the father being Severus."
"How does this happen? I've fucked Severus for years, no protection and this hasn't happened to him?" Harry inquired.
"It's possible that his body can't maintain a pregnancy. Harry, I told you…There's not much on this phenomenon. What we do know is that it's possible for some men to be able to get pregnant under the right circumstances. In your case…It must have been the full moon when Severus topped you, a time when the magic melded just right and he obviously released inside. Don't forget, Harry…You're more powerful than most, and Severus is your soulmate. Or you could go with the age old saying that maybe this was just meant to be how it worked out." Draco told him.
