Varian came across another incantation but this one was for the moonstone. He gave it to Rapunzel to try out, and she started to say the incantation. "Wither and decay, end this destiny. Break these earthly chains and set the spirit free."

At first, nothing happened until she started to say it repeatedly; something dark began to happen. The plants and the ground around them began to wilt away, everyone began to feel weak and sickly. Cass tried to call out to Rapunzel, but her voice was stranded. Rapunzel's eyes turned a pitch-black color like she was possessed, she started singing the incantation in a haunting melody then her long braid unraveled itself and turned black. Varian didn't seem to be too badly infected, but his hair stripe started to glow. He tried to hide it but he felt something take him over. His eyes turned pitch black like Rapunzel's, and he started saying the incantation.

Eugene, Eda, and Lance ended up in a room with a carnivorous plant that sprayed Lance and Eugene with a hallucination gas. The two were laughing and singing until the flower's vines grabbed them and started to lower them into the flower's mouth slowly. Eda was trying her best to fight the vines and avoid breathing gas. Just then Max and Pascal jumped into the fight, Pascal was getting the vines on Eugene and Lance while Max and Eda fought off the vines. Max ended up getting sprayed by the pollen and he saw Pascal and Eda as demons. Eda then got the idea of having Max chase them around the plant, so Max's hoof stomps made cracks in the floor.

However, below them, Rapunzel and Varian were still under the influence of the incantation. They both were still chanting the incantation as everyone else grew weaker and weaker for being near them. Cass tried to get up and call out to Rapunzel, but she was too weak to even speak. Adira couldn't even help since she only took a few steps before collapsing. Hunter had some strength to get close to Varian but when he touched Varian, his gloves melted. He begged Varian to snap out of the trance and told him that he loved him. Within seconds, Varian and Rapunzel both collapsed into the lake, and Rapunzel's hair returned back to normal.

Cass immediately ran to Rapunzel to check to see if she was ok and thankfully, she was unharmed. Hunter cradled Varian's body in his arms; Varian woke up and then Hunter kissed Varian's forehead. "You are never to use that incantation again." Hunter stated.

Cass apologized to Rapunzel that she was supposed to protect her, but Rapunzel told her that she was ok. Suddenly, the ceiling collapsed above them, and it was the flower from the other room that had fallen through. The flower opened up to reveal Eugene and Lance still under the pollen effects, Max fell into the water as Eda flew down with Pascal on her shoulder. "So, what did we miss?" Eda asked.

After that whole debacle, they all continued to walk up the path that led them to the halfway point. Everyone was exhausted and tired by the time they reached it. Adira suggested that they camp out here for the night and then continue in the morning. Cass immediately wanted everyone out of the tree this instant, but Rapunzel went with Adira's idea. Cass started blaming Adira for Rapunzel finding that incantation and making her read it. Rapunzel tried to reason with Cass, but Cass wanted her to ditch Adira and get out fast. Rapunzel told her that she couldn't; Cass got annoyed and ended up calling her naive.

"Enough, Cassandra!" Rapunzel shouted.

Everyone was shocked at her outburst, mostly Cass when she backed away a few inches from Rapunzel. "No one is getting rid of anyone. Is that clear?" she angrily stated to Cass.

Cass looked at their friends who were still reeling in shock at Rapunzel's outburst, Cass called Rapunzel "Your Highness" and then she stated that she'd keep watch. Rapunzel immediately regretted her harshness to Cass, but she had a hard time talking to her. Lance and Eugene gathered a few pieces of firewood, and they tried to start a fire but kept failing. Amity stepped in and used the fire spell to light the wood. Rapunzel was interested in their magic, and she started asking questions about the demon realm and their magic. Luz was more than happy to answer Rapunzel's questions.

Rapunzel then noticed Varian and Hunter curled up together like they were a couple. She smiled knowing that Varian had found someone protective of him. She walked over to where Hunter and Varian were, and she asked Hunter if she could have a few minutes with Varian. Hunter told him that he'd be with Cass keeping watch. "So, you and Hunter?" Rapunzel asked.

"Um well..."

"Varian, I don't mind if you like guys. He seems like a nice guy. Also, Luz told me how you two met in the demon realm. I can't believe you took a page out of my book." Rapunzel claimed.

Varian looked a little confused about what she meant. Rapunzel explained that she did the same thing with Eugene when they first met. "Ok, now I get it," Varian stated.

Rapunzel hugged Varian super tight, afraid he would disappear again. Varian assured her that he wasn't going to disappear from her. Shortly after their chat, everyone fell asleep except for Hunter and Cass who were on guard. Cass was still hurt by Rapunzel's outburst because she was always waiting for her time and when it came, it's just ripped out from beneath her. She was always cast aside for someone else all while she waited for her turn to shine. Cass always pretends that it doesn't hurt but in reality, she hates waiting in the wings. Hunter told her that her moment would come, and Rapunzel would apologize to her in the morning.

Suddenly, they heard a familiar growl above them, the binturongs. Cass and Hunter backed away from them, but Cass got grabbed by Hector. "You guys couldn't take a hint? Now I gotta finish you." Hector stated.

"Let her go, Hector," Adira said.

Hector smirked then threw Cass away like she was a bug. Adira and Hector circled each other ready to fight but it also woke up Rapunzel. The second she called out Adira's name, Hector chopped down a tree that fell in front of the others, separating them from Adira, Hector, Cass, and Hunter. Adira and Hector started going at each other; Adira called out Hector for spending his whole life hiding something that no one was looking for. Hector reminded her that the moonstone had the power to destroy the world keeping it a secret was the king's wish and to do anything else was treason.

Adria tried her best to reason with Hector, but he knocked her unconscious before climbing over towards the rest of the group. "And now, for the so-called sun drop," Hector said as he walked towards Rapunzel, raising his blade.

Before he could strike her, Varian stepped in with his palismen and shoved him away from Rapunzel. "You want the sundrop? You gotta go through me." Varian stated.

Hector just looked amused and started toying with Varian as he tried to fight back. The second Hector pinned Varian down to the ground he was about to finish him when suddenly, Hector got punched in the face by Hunter. Together, Hunter and Varian pushed Hector over the edge and he fell screaming. The binturongs snarled furiously and charged straight at them but thankfully, they jumped out of the way and the binturongs fell over the edge. Eda and Lilith raced towards both Cass and Adria; they managed to help heal some of their minor injuries. Rapunzel apologized to Cass and the two made up.

Unfortunately, those good feelings didn't last long; Willow started to feel off like something dark was coming. A growing rumble came from the bottom of the edge that Hector fell from. Eugene stated that in his experience, growling rumbles never lead to good things. Suddenly, huge glowing green vines sprouted out from the ledge and right the middle of the vines wrapped up was Hector. "All who enter the Great Tree of Zhan Tiri shall be destroyed!" Hector stated.

The vines circled everyone ready to attack them. "Do you remember when being chased by a rhino was the weirdest thing we had to do this weekend?" Eugene asked.

Eugene, Cass, Lance, Adira, and Hookfoot used their swords to chop the vines just as the vines tried to grab them. Eda was in her Harpy form clawing at the vines that were reaching out to grab her wings. Willow mostly used her vines to fight back while Gus created illusions to confuse Hector of the others. Varian and Hunter were working together, even Rapunzel protected them as well. Adira took the chance when Hector was distracted then she kicked the spear out of Hector's hand and it fell onto one of the vines, turning it sickly black. Cass saw what the spear had done and figured she could use it to stop Hector.

However, Hector had other plans, He had the vines grab almost everyone except for Rapunzel, Varian, and King. The vines had Eda and Lilith pinned to the ground struggling, Luz and her friends were dangling in the air with Eugene and Lance who were in pain from the vines crushing them. Rapunzel couldn't stand seeing her friends in pain so she decided to use the decay incantation to free everyone. She started to wrap her hair around the vine structure surrounding Hector. Varian saw what she was going to do so he ran towards the vines that had his friends.

Cass saw what Rapunzel was about to do and told her that she couldn't use that incantation again. Rapunzel stated that she didn't have a choice, Cass tried to reach for the spear but when Rapunzel saw Eugene in pain, she made up her mind. She started saying the incantation; her hair and eyes turned pitch black with hints of green. The place became unstable but the vines began dying, releasing her friends. Varian's eyes turned black then he started chanting the incantation which destroyed the vines around the witches. However, he was somehow able to snap out of the trance quicker than Rapunzel who was still using the incantation.

Rapunzel ordered Varian to take the others and get out of the tree fast. He agreed and soon almost everyone made it out. Cass and Adira stayed behind; Cass tried to get Rapunzel to let go but Rapunzel couldn't control the incantation. Cass made a grave mistake; she touched Rapunzel's arm and the spell spread to her hand, she screamed in pain as Rapunzel snapped out of it. She let go of Hector and kneeled to Cass, her hand was now twisted, black, and burnt to a crisp. Hector gave them one last warning that if Rapunzel went to the Dark Kingdom then she'd be doomed before he fell from the decayed vines.

"Rapunzel, stay on the path." Adira advised before grabbing the spear, "All our destinies lie within you."

She suddenly jumped over the edge to rescue Hector. The whole place was crumbling to pieces and coming down like a house of cards. Rapunzel quickly helped Cass up then the two got out of the tree just in time. The tree crumbled and sunk into a ditch smashed to pieces. Thankfully, Adira and Hector were unharmed and walked away. Rapunzel immediately turned to Cass, who was clutching her now burnt made to her chest. Rapunzel tried to console Cass but she stated that she was fine. "But you're hurt." Rapunzel pointed out.

"I know." Cass stated, eyeing the armor near her, "But it won't happen again."

Rapunzel looked at the black rock path and then back at her friends unsure if she should continue. Cass came over to Rapunzel in her new armor telling Rapunzel that it was her call. Rapunzel made the call; she was going to the Dark Kingdom and that there was no turning back.
