The day was too long, it felt like it should've been 24 hours already even though it was just 12:00 in the afternoon. For the Howlett family it was the longest day ever… the funeral for their friend would be at 4:00 pm, they all had to prepare mentally and emotionally for it…

Evan walked down the hall, he was returning to his room from the kitchen. He hadn't said anything to anyone that day, his mom and siblings included, just kept to himself. He'd been in his shared room with his little brother most of the day. His brother had been with their sister and mom for most of the day clinging to her like they always did.

He figured it was time to stop thinking about himself and start thinking about the family… they'd need each other today like never before. After a few more minutes of letting more tears he got up, wiped the tears away and went out the door, trying to be strong like all men are told to be…

In his office the Professor set his phone to voicemail from the duration of 2:00 to later that evening. He as the head of the school would be the one to speak first, writing a speech about the man was something that he had anticipated long ago.

When Logan came to him that day and told him that he didn't have much time left he knew this would be a necessary thing. And he was right… He was preparing himself for what would happen it a short while when he felt his phone vibrate. He was surprised when he saw on the screen that it was Nick Fury calling.

"Hello Nicholas."

"Hello Xavier." There was a few seconds of silence between them.

"I will be attending the funeral today."

Charles knew that was on his mind the moment he'd called. He knew the man had respect for Logan, but didn't know it was that much as to call ahead and let him and the rest of the institute know of his attendance.

In reality, the man had respect for both Logan and Ororo, he knew via one of the missions that he'd recruited the couple on that they had a very firm and sacred bond between each other, which meant a few things.

First, she was going to be beside herself with grief.

Second, Showing up unannounced would set her and some of the others off possibly leaving him charred and lifeless at the end of the day.

And three as much as he didn't care too much about any general person, he didn't want to make their day any worse than it already was.

"I understand, thank you Fury." Was all the Professor said before hanging up the phone. He folded his hands for a moment falling into his thoughts when:

'Charles,'

He straightened up knowing that voice and thinking to himself what could the mutant supremacist want right now.

'Don't be alarmed, I'm simply contacting you to let you know that I and some of my people will be attending funeral today… we will not cause any trouble, if any of my people do they will have to answer to me.'

'Alright, it will be at 4:00.'

'Thank you, Charles.'

Charles wasn't going to question why Eric wanted to be there today, he knew about how he was rescued as a boy from the concentration camp, how Captain America and Logan were the ones who rescued him. The man wanted to pay his respects as a thank you to the other mutant.

He figured some others would be coming as well, it wasn't like their now deceased guardian wasn't unknown to the world, or not a wanted man by many as he was.

4:00 pm:

The light brown coffin was had things on and around it. Flowers, a couple pictures, one or two ornaments and the like.

The crowd looked colorful, more came than they'd expected… There was Fury and his men, Magneto, Sabretooth, Mystique, Moira Mactaggart, as well as some people from Japan, Canada, and some other random places were there, as well as everyone from the school.

Though it was against his morals or at least that's what he told his students, he had manipulated some of them to make sure that there would not be a hair raised out of place for the entire ceremony.

Rogue, Kitty, Kurt, Scott, Jean and others all sat around the family supporting them as they all said goodbye to the man who was so much more than a teammate or teacher to all of them.

Charles' heart ached as he was at the front going to say a few words for him and all of them.

"Well… I." He cleared his throat trying to be strong for everyone there.

"I never thought I'd be here when one of my students wasn't."

"Logan was… dear to all of us, some more then others." He said taking a side glance at Ororo and the kids sitting alongside her. They exchanged looks and strength with it.

"His life was more challenging than most, but it was an example to us all of how perseverance can change everything for the better…" He took a breath.

"When he came to us first he was a confused man who didn't even know much about himself, as he opened up to us we found a stronghold and a deep well of love and protection." He looked down for a moment then back up to continue.

They sat there listening to the spoken words. To some it was well spoken, while to others it was a blur of ringing in their ears. This wasn't fair, it was making those who claimed to have no emotions turn to puddles.

"Damn mind ninja." Laura whispered as a couple tears slid down her cheeks. Memories of her and her father flashed before her eyes.

The first time she met him she was so angry but as she got to know him she was touched by how much love he showered her with, Ororo to of course, they wouldn't be a full family without her.

even before she was officially adopted into the family the woman always acted like a mother to her making her feel strange inside almost as if she had a mom again, but it wasn't till she could get over the pain and trauma of her birth mother's death that she could truly accept Ororo as the mother figure she needed.

After the birth of her brothers and sisters, (technically half siblings but none of them cared) she felt almost like she was always part of their family. Her parents did an amazing job together with each one of their children and each other.

Feeling overwhelmed in the moment she leaned forward trying to hide her face from the others as she decided to do one of the first things that he told her and let go… the woman that she now looked up to as a mother figure beside her couldn't help but be affected by the sorrow that her adopted daughter expressed in that moment. Effort that she put into holding her own tears back was now for nothing as her and the younger girl embraced sobbing. All she heard next of what the man in the wheelchair said was:

"If anyone else wishes to say a few words you are welcome."

She didn't hear anything else clearly until a minute later, looking up she saw Beast at the front. People were laughing, crying and some unaffected as they told stories of memories, funny, sad, confused…

Then it was Ororo's turn, her expression and composure betrayed her feelings and heart as usual as she pushed her true feelings to the back of herself like she was used to. Laura didn't hear too much of what she had to say as she was too caught up in her own memories at the moment.

They were a bit surprised when it wasn't just members of the institute that got up there, but also Eric and a few others that weren't seen around there. Even the lion of a man they all knew as Sabretooth got up there saying something, eventually telling a story of their youth when they were both still teenagers.

It was at this point that everyone was onto the Professor's handy work because there was no way he'd do that normally, not unless he'd suddenly developed another personality that is. He ended his speech with a "Sleep well Runt." Typical for him.

Hank was the one to lower the box with the body of his deceased friend into the ground. Some went inside and did whatever they wished at this time, others stayed and either mourned themselves or supported those who did, others left back to their lives, Magneto and Fury being a couple of them.

It was around this time when the sky opened pouring its tears down with the others. Charles looked up seeing the darker clouds above them, he was in awe as he knew this was attributed to Ororo and/or the kids, even with the restraint devices that they wore they were either faulty or their wearers were too powerful for them. The things wouldn't do much good for very long after this.

They all noticed the weather around them, but none of them cared. They all stood around the grave, the only ones saying anything were a few of the other students. After a few minutes passed Ororo, Laura, Jessie, Evan, Ayotunde and Kendall along with Rogue and Kitty were the only ones left outside because of the rain.

"Uhm, You think we should go inside?"

Kitty asked Rogue beside her, the goth nodded to her friend going and getting the attention of the others solemnly. The woman looked back to the two girls.

"Take the kids inside, I am staying out here for now." She told them looking behind her.

"But Ororo…" Kitty asked.

"I am not going with you now." She stated, the girls knew not to push her beyond this point, she'd come in sooner or later anyway.

Ok, I'm sorry that this took sooo long to come out, I've had writers block for a while and couldn't get rid of it for a week and a half... might add more to this chapter later but for now this is what's here... hope you like it, please Review if you can :)
