Ch.12 Understanding

POV: Adrian

Sometimes I wonder how Lissa could have mastered auras, but couldn't see the attraction between Rose and Dimitri. Of course, you didn't have to see auras to know that they were in love.

But I suppose I can't say the same. I know how to use compulsion, but that doesn't mean I know how strong his will is. What does that make me, a hypocrite? I don't have the right to say such things about Lissa. Or Avery, for that matter.

She used spirit for a range of things: masking her aura, compelling Lissa and I to do things we normally wouldn't do when we were drunk. And she doesn't understand the price.

Then I realize, maybe, it's not the magic that makes you think that. You possess the magic, but true understanding of something comes from yourself.

It might be the wisest statement I'd ever admitted to myself.
