Ch.45 Birthdays

POV: Third Person

Rose Hathaway didn't like birthdays. She didn't get what the fuss was about, when you grew older. Maybe birthday parties were invented by someone who wanted things for free as presents so he didn't have to buy things by himself, she thought. Maybe there was a cruel god who wanted people to get broke by getting their friends and family birthday presents.

Also, for her eighteenth birthday, she hadn't had a birthday party, what with leaving the Academy to hunt down Dimitri's Strigoi form. Every birthday she had she'd remember her heart breaking when Mason told her Dimitri had joined the undead. Her eyes would meet his in the crowd, and they'd share a small, sad smile.

They'd make the walk back to their apartment in silence, both of them simply enjoying being with each other in a way they couldn't at the Academy.

When they arrived, Dimitri would shut the door and lock it, then both of them would take each other frantically, desperate for the reassurance both of them brought each other. Desperate to know they were alive, that they had each other.

Have all of you been waiting for Hunger Games - Vampire Academy crossover story? I released it a few days ago and it seems like no one has been reading it. I understand crossovers are on another part of the site, but it seems... a bit extreme. I was wondering if anyone wanted one, or if only a few people wanted to read it.
