Tsuna is soundly asleep in her room when Hyper Intuition chimes: there is an intruder.

Instantly awake, she uses the reflexes she has gotten to put on her X-Gloves and to enter Hyper Dying Will Mode without the aid of the pills because there is no time to take them, and jumps out of the bed. All of it takes seconds, and she faces the intruder, his face illuminated by Sky Flames.

The stranger is a head than her. He has gravity-defying dual-colored hair and is dressed in traditional clothes, blue haori on his shoulders. He looks startled by her quick reflexes and wary of the fire on her hands and forehead

For a while, they stand just like that, unmoving. As they lock gazes, red ruby versus bright amber, Tsuna can't help but feel that they know each other. Her Intuition whispers that it's true, that they do know another, but can't seem to recall where she met this stranger.

The mysterious visitor is the first one to break the spell. Using Tsuna's distraction, he calls upon some black smoke - some kind of Mist Flames? - and vanishes from sight before she can stop him. Tsuna's Intuition tells her that the stranger is gone.

"Are you alright, Decimo?" Daniela asks worriedly as she and Primo emerge from the Flames, returning Tsuna to the present.

Tsuna turns to them. "Yeah, I'm fine," she assures her predecessors, slipping out of Hyper Dying Will Mode and taking off her Gloves which transformed back into the mittens. She glances at the open window. "Just wondering what the heck was that."

"I'm wondering the same," Ottavo says, brow furrowed. "This kid is weird. His technique is similar to Mist Flame, but this wasn't a Flame."

"I think I may know the answer to who he was," Primo speaks up, causing Daniela and Tsuna to look at him questioningly. "I was still uncertain when you said we will be going to Ukiyoe, but now what I saw that face, I'm sure of his identity."

"What are talking about, Grandpa?" Tsuna asks. Giotto looked at the women.

"Sit down. I tell you of a...person I met shortly after moving to Japan."

The two do as asked, and Giotto begins to tell a story of his past.

Meanwhile, Rikuo returns to Nura Mansion in a frenzy and immediately goes to his grandfather. He needed to talk to someone about what happened. Surely old man knows the answer.

"You're back awfully fast. Date gone wrong?" Nurarihyon asks teasingly, fully aware of where his grandson was.

"Very funny, Jiji," Rikuo deadpans as sits down in front of the older ayakashi. "Something happened."

And he proceeds to tell his grandfather what transpired in Tsuna's room. Nurarihyon doesn't interrupt, listening intently.

"And she was aware of my presence - even though I used my Fear," Rikuo finishes. His grandfather merely hums in reply, not seeming surprised in the least.

Rikuo arches an eyebrow at the lack of reaction. "Is there something you're not telling me, old geezer?"

Nurarihyon chuckles. "Get comfortable, Rikuo. I'll tell you of this curious human I met when I was in Kyoto and led Nura Gumi."

Rikuo does get comfortable as Nurarihyon starts his tale.

Kyoto. 400 years ago.

Giotto knows it was a bad idea to roam the night streets the moment fog gathers around him, and voices cackle from within it:

"I feel the energy coming from him. His ikigimo must be powerful. We must devour it!"

"It was foolish of you to go out and about, human. Now it's your death!"

Giotto simply sighs at their words. It's not the first time the yokai threatened to kill him and eat his ikigimo. Before any of them can attack, the former Vongola boss enters his Hyper Dying Will Mode, and burns the nearest yokai with his Flames, turning it to ash. The others either run away or meet the same fate.

Soon there are none left. Giotto is about to extinguish his Flames when a curious voice says:

"Ho, what an interesting ability. I wonder if you are human or ayakashi or a scion of the two?"

Giotto turns and is met with amused golden orbs. The person in front of him is obviously a yokai, but unlike the others he has met so far, this one doesn't rush to attack. Rather he looks at him as if he met some unique creature. His Intuition is also silent, meaning this stranger wasn't intending on bringing him harm.

However, that didn't mean this ayakashi wasn't dangerous, so Giotto stays on his guard. "Who are you?" he asks the stranger warily.

The yokai gives Giotto a cocky grin. "They call me Nuearihyon. Who are you, Fire-san?"

Nura Mansion, present day.

"You met a person with such abilities before?!" Rikuo exclaims, jumping in shock once his grandfather finished the story.

Nurarihyon nods with a grin. "Yep. He called himself Ieyasu. Actually, he was a good friend of mine. He knew your grandmother and was friends with her as well."

"Just Ieyasu? No last name?"

Nurarihyon shrugs. "He didn't say and I didn't ask."

"And what about that fire ability of his? What did he say about it?"

"He called it...what's the word...Ah. Dying Will Flames. The way Ieyasu explained it, every person has energy inside them. If that power is active, it manifests in the form of the fire, and each person has their own type of Flame, and abilities vary depending on the type. Other than that, they're humans, albeit with a faster healing rate and super fast reflexes."

"Unbelievable…"Rikuo says as he tries to wrap his head around the discovery. "But Tsuna never showed signs of that power before."

"Maybe it slept until recently, " the Supreme Commander shrugs. "You haven't seen her for a year. Maybe it woke then. Plus, Ieyasu mentioned that Dying Will Flames are not public knowledge. In any case, "Nurarihyon looks his grandson in the eye. "What are you going to do about it?"

" Nothing," Rikuo tells him firmly."Tsu is still Tsu, with or without the Flames. I won't end our friendship because she has powers."

Nurarihyon smirks, reminded of himself and his dear Yohime because of his grandson's words. "Spoken like a true Nurarihyon."

And also, this will be very interesting to watch to unravel.

"Hiee! Yokai exist?!" Tsuna yelps in shock. Back at the Ienaga Household, Giotto also finished his story, and Tsuna and Daniela were reeling from shock at the discovery.

Giotto nods. "Yes. And you were visited by one."

Tsuna huffs in annoyance as the shock passed. Great. As if mafia and Reborn weren't enough to the craziness that is her life. "Do you think he will appear again?"

Giotto's lips twitch in amusement. "If he's anything like his relative I met - and I can tell he is, - then he will show up again."

Tsuna groans. "I wanted to rest from the mafia, not to discover the world of yokai!"She notices the amused expressions of her predecessors. "What?"

"Nothing," Daniela says, trying not to chuckle. "It's just kind of funny. First, Nura Rikuo, now this yokai. You sure are popular with boys, Decimo."

"Shut up, Daniela," Tsuna grumbles at the teasing. "That's not the point."

Primo and Ottavo simply laugh in response. Tsuna rolls her eyes at them, half fond, half exasperated.

They are the worst. But she loves them anyway.

She also can't help but wonder who her mysterious visitor was as her mind comes back to him.

Just… Who are you? And why did you feel so familiar?
