Kendall arrives on 25 December, 1979. It should be funny, really. The new messiah, arriving to cleanse Logan of his sins. And to replace Connor, who is definitely not the prodigal son.

It's Caroline's idea to call him Kendall. Logan doesn't like the name at first — "too girly" — but Caroline can be persuasive, and he'll end up being Ken or Kenny anyway. His middle name is Logan, same as Connor's.

It's Logan who decides to celebrate Kendall's birth in May. He can't have his precious son's birthday overshadowed by the son of God. "Two birthdays, like the Queen," Caroline quips to Connor as she hands the baby to him. It's the first time Connor has seen his half-brother since he was born. Five months old, and utterly helpless.

Connor had thought he would feel jealous on seeing his replacement, but all he feels as he holds Kendall is pity, and maybe a touch of love too. This poor kid won't stand a chance with Logan and Caroline as his parents. Connor makes a mental vow then and there, to always be there for Kendall and any other progeny his father may end up having.

Kendall stares intensely at Connor with eyes that are still a shade of blue. Connor smiles, a lump in his throat as Kendall wraps his fist around Connor's finger like a handshake. "Happy unbirthday, little brother."
