"I am pleased to see that you are unharmed and healty Yuta." And I am pleased that you're still as cute as ever Akiha! And thanks for not commenting on glasses, I'm still not sure about them.
I grin. "Eh, nothing can keep me down! For long..." Even weird super strong vampires. "Sorry that I took so long to visit, I had to deal with some stuff." My comment is mostly directed at Kohaku.
Just like the first time I have been here, the two of them are standing behind Akiha. Hisui seems glad to see me doing well, but Kohaku... Well, she is smiling! But it's one that promises pain and death.
I've hanged around Rika for enough time to know when a smile is fake, meant to put someone's guard down. Ah, the fact that she has a Rika type of smile is scary, but also kind of hot. I'm also happy to see her now wearing my ribbon, that's a good sign, right?
Akiha smiles. "Worry not, we aren't that close in the first place." Ouch, true though. It's something I have to change as fast as possible. "But I am glad big brother's best friend did not die in such a tragedy."
Shiki pushes up his glasses. "For real, it gave me a heart attack... Even if everything got resolved recently." That's right, I killed Vlov so the city is safe for now.
Or at least until Roa starts to fuck shit up... I wanted go hunt him, but Ciel told me to take it easy for a few days. She has even decreased our morning training, choosing to focus more on theoretical stuff, and how to turns off my Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.
I chuckle. "Everything got solved alright." I look towards Akiha. "Anyways, after such a traumatic event I realized the fragility of life and all that, and that's why..."
I continue. "Marry me Akiha! Oh, I'll also accept Hisui and Kohaku too. Only Shiki doesn't get this offer, I'm fine with just being his brother in law."
Akiha sighs. "I reject your proposal, contact me when you break up with your girlfriend... or girlfriends I suppose." I still don't have a harem.
She continues, glaring at me. "And I cannot, nor do I want to, give you either Hisui's or Kohaku's hand in marriage. If you desire to enter into a life long relationship with one of them, please court them yourself."
I give her a thumbs up. "I will! Seriously, I'm staying here overnight. I brought all I need to sleep here for tonight." And it wasn't even my idea! Shiki said I needed as much time as possible to apologize to Kohaku.
I also think he's getting tired of that Toji guy watching over him and wants to distress a little. Apparently watching me get destroyed by his sister is very calming.
Akiha glares at me, but before she can say anything, Shiki interjects. "By the way Akiha, Yuta isn't going to start living here or anything. He already found a house to stay on, so this really is just a visit."
He continues. "That said, if he did want to live here for a while I would just let him stay on my room without you knowing or something." Thanks for the backup...?
Akiha sighs. "I know, and I wouldn't deny your friend a temporary home. Very well, I approve of you sleeping here tonight Yuta. You and Big Brother can go play Kohaku's 'Video Game' or whatever people your age do."
Kohaku giggles. "So out of touch~." Her giggling gets louder. "Oh, I want to make Yuta some tea now..." Why is that sending shivers down my spine!?
Hisui sighs. "Lady Akiha is not out of touch, she simply knows nothing about modern people and therefore has difficulty in connecting with them." That's exactly what out of touch means!
Kohaku looks to the side, a smug look on. "Yeah, that's why she's so perfect... Maybe I could convince Lady Akiha to invest all her money into NFT's? Seeing her lose it all would be pretty funny." She's right here!
Hisui glares at Kohaku. "Honored sister, please refrain from abusing Lady Akiha to further your goals..." After that, Akiha finally stops just looking at them in shock.
Her glare is powerful Indeed. "You two! Stop now!" Akiha then sighs. "What did I do to deserve this? And I also have to see that woman today..."
Shiki frowns. "So she's here too? Or she's gonna be very soon... What a pain, I think I like her less than Toji." Hey, the man is also right here.
Speaking of him, he has a big grin on. "Hey, give that rotten scum some points kiddo, she's a woman with big tits after all." Truly you are a productive member of society, Mister Fushiguro.
Akiha glares at him. "Stay silent Fushiguro. Do not talk unless it involves your contract." Details please... Though I guess you would never tell me them, you haven't even told Shiki yet.
Toji snorts. "Right, I'll stay silent. Unless I want to speak, in which case I'll talk." That just means you won't stay silent at all! Your logic doesn't make any sense!
I chuckle. "Ignoring his crass ways, there's something I must confront you about Akiha. You see, I found a glaring flaw in you."
Her eyes widen. "A flaw? Impossible." Narcissism!? Cute. "Though feel free to tell me whatever you want, I shall simply ignore it if it's stupid."
I point at her and immediately tell her what it is. "In my marriage proposal, you rejected me because I already have a girlfriend, and not because of other factors. That implies I could marry you if it wasn't for my already existing relationship. Which means you're interested in me!"
Kohaku gasps. "A red truth!? That means it's undeniably correct! A marriage will happen right here and now!?" Do not dare to reference that accursed thing, Sensei already bullied me for it once. Also it's not like what I said was actually red... right?
Akiha blushes. "S-shut up Yuta! I just wanted to put you down and so I didn't put much thought into my words, that's all."
Shiki grins. "You didn't think before speaking? How unlike you... Maybe it really is a crush." Sudden support!? Oh yeah, Shiki wants me to break Akiha's cold facade, that's probably why he's landing a helping hand.
Akiha looks down. "I-I barely know this man, you are wrong Big Brother...!" She then sighs. "Why am I even letting you fools lead me astray? I don't care what every single one of you think one way or another."
I nod. "It's true that we haven't spent enough time together with one another... So let's hang out a lot since I'm here! And you don't even have to think of it as something romantic!" I've got a feeling Akiha has zero friends, this is for her own good.
Akiha frowns. "I cannot, I have medical affairs I have to handle." Eh? Is she unhealthy? That's not good at all... I know Shiki has anemia, but that was caused by an accident, it's not genetic, so it's probably not it.
She then blushes. "B-but if everyone was willing to w-wait for me, I wouldn't mind trying out these video 'games'..." Way too cute.
I nod. "Akiha, I would wait an eternity for you. Let's go on a date. Scratch that, let's get married."
"You're proposing again!?"
"H-hey Kohaku! How is my favorite maid doing?" All alone, in a kitchen with sharp knives! Though I purposes wanted to talk with her alone.
Right now Akiha is seeing her doctor, while Shiki and Hisui set everything up, even if there wasn't a lot of things to set up in the first place. So I took this opportunity to... Talk with Rika.
Hey, I don't want to ignore her for the whole night! But she's fine with current state of affairs apparently. For some reason she likes Kohaku? I think? Anyways, after that I came here.
Kohaku gives me a big fake smile. "I'm just peachy! I'm definently not scared about Lady Akiha messing with my eletronics, yep!" Ah, I didn't think about her breaking stuff, my bad.
I chuckle. "I'm sure she won't destroy everything you own in a fit of rage. By the way how many more times do you think I can propose to her today?"
Kohaku steps back. "Ah! Is that a threat!? I'm being threatened!? Please don't break my consoles... They're way too expensive for a common maid like me to buy more."
I raise an eyebrow. "Jokes aside, don't you make a lot...? I guess I don't know exactly how much you make, but surely working for old money like Akiha has to pay a lot."
Kohaku nods. "That's true... it's just that even so, my stuff is really expensive. Seriously, half of my consoles are collectors items you know!? If Akiha breaks them you're paying for it."
I hesitantly nod back, much to her surprise. "S-sure... I guess I have the cash to do so. Besides, I wanted to apologize to you." It's time to disarm this bomb.
And suddenly her smile is gone, her eyes colder than I have ever seen. "Apologize for what Yuta?" That's what I'm trying to figure it out!
I haven't known Kohaku for a while, but apparently me entering into a coma made her pissed off, and I only made everything worse by not coming to see her. That said, I'm not blaming myself or anything, I don't have a survivor complex or anything.
Still, I did make Kohaku sad somehow, and that is an unforgivable sin! Kohaku is made for stupid jokes and sex... Maybe I shouldn't joke about the last one, considering I think her sister was sexually assaulted.
I give Kohaku an apologetic smile. "I'm not sure of it to be honest..." And then Kohaku gains her fake smile back.
She excitedly pats me on the shoulder. "Oh!? Do you just go around apologizing to people for no reason!? Is this a new ability of yours!?"
I shake my head. "I'm serious Kohaku. I know I messed up something, but I'm not sure what exactly... And I know that is probably only making you even madder at me."
I continue. "A person cannot apologize for something they do not know. So the only thing I can sincerely apologize is this..."
I bow. "Sorry I made you sad Kohaku! Please have heart to explain what you felt and and what I shouldn't do! As your future husband that would really help!"
Kohaku hesitantly nods, her smile is gone again. "Okay then future husband." She's not denying that!? "You made me feel worried for myself." Huh? Why? Am I making her way too uncomfortable with the husband stuff? Then I should definitely stop it.
I'm such a idiot, of course she felt uncomfortable with that! Her sister was probably sexually assaulted for fuck sake!
Kohaku continues. "Ah, why do I feel you are arriving at conclusions before I explain anything?" Because I am!
I nod. "Sorry Kohaku! I'll listen to everything you say with an open mind!" I won't assume anything, specially since she's about to explain herself.
Kohaku has a ghost of a smile on her face. "Good. The truth is that I was selfish, I enjoyed your presence, so when you almost died I felt betrayed."
She continues. "And I know it's unfair, but if you died I wouldn't be able to wear this ribbon anymore. I really like it, please don't take it away from me."
W-wow, I knew the ribbon promise was clearly important to her, but not to this level. Ah, I'm definitely missing some backstory here, so this is dangerous ground to thread upon. However, I have no other options, so I have to make Kohaku happy again!
I smile. "Don't worry, I won't die and taint that ribbon with the stench of death anytime soon. You can confidently wear it whenever you want."
I put my hands on my hips and puff my chest. "Life cannot ever put me down!" I then bow again. "That said, sorry that I made you worry about my life Kohaku."
I continue. "That ribbon is clearly important to you for reasons I don't understand, still I am the one who insisted on giving it to you. That's why I'll take full responsibility for my actions, feel free to tell me when I mess up something and I'll do my best to correct it."
Kohaku giggles. "Geez, it's not like you got me pregnant!" It does sound like that huh!? I want to get Kohaku pregnant! "Still, thank you Yuta."
She looks down. "There's a lot of things you don't know about me, but I would like to keep it that way... So I apologize, but I cannot explain the ribbon to you."
I give her a thumbs up. "It's totally fine Kohaku, I get it." I'm surprised she's even being so honest in the first place, Kohaku strikes me as the type of person who's really good at lying.
And to think this is technically the second time I have met her... That ribbon must have raised some crazy insane fucking flag, my protagonist skills are truly something else.
She covers her mouth with her sleeve. "I'm glad you do, however I would like to know a few things about you."
I nod. "Lay it on me, I don't mind telling you stuff about me." If she asks I'll even confess about my supernatural abilities! Though I would be scared about her knowing enough to ask in the first place!
Kohaku takes her sleeve off her mouth, now she has a big grin on. "How big is your family? Any siblings I should be aware of?" That's a weird question...
But still, I don't mind answering it. "Ah, my family is pretty small, and they live in another city... I do have a younger sister, but we don't talk much."
Mostly because Rika would get really jealous, but I don't mind. In the end I never had a close relationship with my sister in the first place... And she also doesn't give any incestuous anime sis vibes, so she might as well not exist.
If this was a manga she would probably only be mentioned in an extra page as a curious fact about me. Most readers wouldn't really care that she exists.
Kohaku nods. "I see, I see. So what are your aspirations for the future? What job do you want? Could you support a housewife? I'll have you know I... This hypothetical housewife could be very experienced by the way."
I smirk. "I could, I actually have a job already. I'm working for the church, for now it's only a half-time thing, but it pays super well." I also got bonus money for killing Vlov. It's an extra incentive so I keep doing crazy shit like that.
Kohaku's eyes widen. "Oh!? You're religious...? That's certainly interesting, and I didn't know working at a church would pay well."
I shake my head. "I'm not religious at all, it's just a job. Though I was certainly surprised with my salary too." I'm technically a millionaire now, just because I killed Vlov.
Well, I actually don't have the money with me specifically, but Ciel said that I could ask the Holy Church for it and they wouldn't deny me. By the way, Noel didn't get the same privileges, since her contribution was considered way too small... Keep grinding Sensei!
Kohaku smiles. "Okay then, where are you living currently? Did you find a new apartment already? Or are you still looking for one?"
I sigh. "Sadly I'm currently leeching off a Senpai from my school. I tried looking for an apartment online, but it's pretty hard to find one currently." Both because of the great Souya fire and the great Souya earthquake.
Honestly this city's economy might not survive Vlov. The guy basically wiped out two whole neighborhoods! So right now a lot of people are homeless.
A bunch are also leaving the city, turns out people don't want to live in a place where all this tragedy happening. Honestly I don't blame them, if I didn't know why it happened, I would probably want to leave too.
Kohaku pouts. "So currently you're homeless huh? I... I'm glad you found someone to take you in. I know Lady Akiha said you could live here, but trust me, it's not worth it."
I cross my arms. "So you live here too? I guess that's pretty common for maids of old money like this." Free housing doesn't sound too bad...
Kohaku nods. "Yes, but to be honest I would like to move out eventually. Though it probably won't ever happen."
I raise an eyebrow. "Why? Do you have some contract or whatever...? Well, if you want to live somewhere else I'll support you compl-"
She interrupts me. "Now, don't go around making promises about taking me out of here Yuta. I really won't forgive you if you do." Ah! My Rika instincts are tingling!
I give her a thumbs up. "I'm taking you out of here Kohaku! And I mean that a hundred percent!" My Rika instincts told me backing out would be the incorrect choice!
Kohaku giggles. "Now you've gone and done it! Well, your snacks will be super special~." What does that mean!?
Kohaku continues. "So what do you look for in a relationship? Do you want children? If so how many?"
I smirk. "I look for you in a relationship. I do not care for having children one way or another, I wouldn't mind having them if my partner wants them." I do have an impregnation fetish though. I won't tell her that, for obvious reasons!
Kohaku quickly nods. "I see, that's completely understandable. So are you going to live in Souya for the rest of your life, or do you plan to move out eventually?"
I shrug. "The future is a complicated thing. I can't answer it for sure, specially with my work for the church... By the way Kohaku, what's with those questions? It sounds like we're on an old style marriage interview."
Kohaku smiles. "That's because we are silly!"
"We are!?"
AN: Originally this chapter would actually include Yuta and Shiki shopping around, looking for a gift to give Kohaku. (with Toji stalking them), they would then be attacked by a shadow SHIKI (Just like in the Remake) and Toji would fend him off.
I decided to scrap the idea though, Tsukihime's plot happens really quickly, but I wanted to give the characters some down time... I'm definently messing up with the timeline of events though, sorry!
