"Yo, Shiki!" I should have figured this guy wouldn't leave me alone. Though that might be a good thing, considering some dangerous thing will supposedly happen revolving around me.
I sigh. "Yo, Okkotsu. Stop calling me Shiki." This guy really has no manners at all, does he? "Anyways, I'm going to school, meet me up after it and I'll convince Akiha you should live with us... somehow." It will a challenge to be sure.
I'm kind of looking forward to Hisui's reaction though, since she has been looking around, as if still trying to search for Yuta. It's a good thing he only showed once I walked a fair bit away from the mansion gate, or she would have had a heart attack.
He groans. "Why are you going to school at all...? You met a super vampire yesterday, so take a break." That would normally be a good point, but I feel fine, and also Akiha would murder me.
Many of my choices are made with the knowledge that Akiha could kill me in mind.
I roll my eyes. "I won't skip school for something... Well, I won't say minor, but inconsequential. Also, shouldn't you be getting for school too?" I don't know which one he attends, but he doesn't look much older than me.
He looks at me like I'm an idiot. "Dude, I don't go to school." Ah. That makes sense... "Who's Akiha anyways? You mentioned her like I'm supposed to know. Is she the maid?" A fusion between Akiha and Hisui?
I don't know if such a being would be perfect or curse, I shudder nonetheless. "No, the maid is called Hisui. She works as my personal maid and-." I get interrupted.
His eye twitches. "You have a personal maid...? Die." I want to get mad at him, but I understand, so I just chuckle instead. "Wait... does she... you know... do the thing that all personal maids do?"
I immediately blush. "Of course not!" What he's talking about is obvious. "And... when you're living on the mansion, don't even touch Hisui! She panics when guys do that." Now that I think about it...
Does he even need to live in my house? Can't he just watch me from afar or something...?
No, that would be a bit too much. Sure, he could probably do it, but I don't want to force the guy to watch me from a tree. Besides, what if he gets annoyed and just leaves? If I want to deal with this hypothetical threat I need to keep him around until Arcueid shows up.
Yuta sends me a thumbs up. "Got it! But please tell everyone in your little mansion to not touch me either, I don't like it." Really...? That seems weird coming from such a... eccentric guy.
Specially since... didn't he extend his hand for a handshake earlier in the morning...?
I push my glasses up. "Akiha is my little sister by the way, though she's actually the one who's inherited everything. After my father passed away, I mean." I was pretty much disowned until Akiha brought me back to the mansion.
Yuta whistles. "What. A. Mess!" I would like to say that isn't true, but I suppose my family's situation is unusual. "So, are you planning on killing the little princess?" His tone is as cheerful as ever.
I stop walking.
"Don't even joke about that...!" I clench my fists with so much strength that they might break.
His eyes widen, but then he smirks, it's a weak though. "Hey, I can joke about whatever I want." He then tilts his head. "And besides, it really isn't a joke. I'm supposed to keep an eye on you, so I need to know stuff like that." This guy...!
Well, as annoying as it is, I get it. "Akiha and I get along just fine." We really don't, I think she hates me, even if she was acting very nice this morning. "I wouldn't ever harm her." If a fight between us broke out, she would win since I would take out myself.
His smirk regains its strength. "So a maid that doesn't like to be touched, and your little sister... Anyone else I should know about?" Yes... Oh, he's gonna meet Arach eventually. How will the world survive that?
I scratch my cheek, just thinking about is giving me a headache. "Yeah, but don't worry about it... You will meet them eventually." He nods, but his face is pale. Don't tell me he is nervous about this...?
I sigh. "By the way, are you gonna keep following me until we reach the school?" I don't want to show in the school gates with a stranger. Besides, he's so handsome that a commotion will probably start.
Even as we walk, people stop to stare at him all the time, it's both impressive and depressive. Don't these people have something to do!? Go to work already!
He shrugs. "I'm gonna keep following you the entire day." Huh!? "I can't enter your school of course... at least not without magecraft, so I'll keep an watch from the trees or something." Now that's way too far!
He raises a hand. "And before you start pulling my ear, as you normally do. Trust me, this will be awful for me too, and I rather be doing anything else. But schools are scary places, for all I know I'm here to stop a school shooting or something." I guess that's fair enough.
I pout, I guess I'll have to say goodbye to my privacy. "Just hasten your step. I don't want to miss my train." I at least won't let him watch me while I'm in the bathroom! I will never budge on that!
He smiles. "Okay, but pay it for me, kay?"
I scowl. "Why...?" Now he wants to take away my money too!? Is he some super bodyguard, or some super leech!?
I sigh. "I don't exactly get paid you know. Normally I move around using my powers, but I can't exactly do that right now..." The image of Yuta crashing close to the school in his super dragon speed mode comes to my mind.
What a terrifying image. "Fine..." I gotta wonder though... Just how does he live without money? I mean... there's no way he's going dumpster diving or something. Right?
Yeah, there's just no way.
I'm going to die.
There's a tiger on one of my sides, and a dragon on the other. The tiger doesn't hesitate to glare at the dragon, and the dragon doesn't hesitate to look away and chuckle, which makes the tiger even angrier, which makes the dragon even more amused... A cycle of death, a typhoon of death, with me stuck inside of it.
The tiger is Senpai and the dragon is Yuta of course.
I look down, afraid of the inevitable end. Memento Mori. "So, do you two know each other...?" If this happens everyday, then screw it, Yuta can fly to the school. I rather have people believing Superman is real than this.
To my surprise however, Senpai recompenses herself, showing me a bright smile. "Ah, we don't Tohno! Is he a friend of yours...?" She's lying right? She has to be, since she looked like she was about to strangle him a moment ago.
Before I can ever respond, Yuta shouts. "Ah! She's trying to erase our shared past!" He then points at her. "I'm onto you! Don't trust her schemes Shiki, she's actually a thousand years old with the body of a twelve year old!" Don't call me by my first name.
Also, why the body of a twelve year old...? Last time I checked, which was a second ago because I'm constantly checking her out, Senpai has the body of a supermodel. It's almost sad really, to see that humanity's female beauty peaked so early.
Ciel protests. "I'm not a thousand years old!" So you're just gonna let the second part slide?
And she's also not denying the whole thing about her erasing shared memories. So these two definitely knew each other, and Yuta did something that majorly pissed off Senpai. And so naturally a depressed thought hits my mind.
These two must have been boyfriend and girlfriend! Yuta fumbled the bag, and for once being super handsome wasn't enough to save him, since Senpai is super hot! Ah! I'm between two ex-lovers, this is a nightmare!
Yuta waves her off. "Well, it's not like I know your actual age, hag." Stop calling your ex a hag! "Anyways, Shiki the truth is that Ciel is a Burial Agency member. She's a person who works for the Holy Church." H-hah...?
Ciel almost gets up. "W-what are you doing?" She's blushing, but I don't think it's because her ex is teasing her. In fact, I think maybe this whole ex theory was dead from the very start.
Yuta rolls his eyes. "I'm telling him the truth. Why didn't you?" He then shrugs. "Nevermind that, I don't care enough to listen. So, Shiki, she's a vampire hunter, but don't ask me why she's here acting like a student. Pedo hag." I'm at a loss for words.
I slowly turn my head towards Senpai. "Wow." That's all I can say. With the way Ciel acted around Yuta, I doubt he is lying about her, so she really must be a church agent who is lying about her age.
But why!?
Ciel seems exasperated. "Of course. After so much time being undercover, to think an annoyance would show up and ruin everything." The face she's making is unlike the Senpai I know. "And I'm not a pedo, don't call me that." Yeah! She never made inappropriate advances towards anyone!
That's Noel-Sensei's thing.
She pushes her glasses up. "So, why are you around Shiki? From what I understand you do have some level of thought behind your actions... Or at least I hope you have." She sure is hostile.
Yuta yawns. "The voices told me to keep an eye on Shiki over here, so I'm keeping an eye on him." At least explain what those are, because if you don't, Senpai will just think you're crazy!
Which is why I interject before she can say anything. "S-Senpai, from what I understand those voices are actually reliable, and help him prevent disasters." Now that I say it outloud, I hope it doesn't come off as if I was the disaster.
Ciel's eye twitches. "I see, then it's a good thing he's keeping a eye on you, Tohno." After that an almost awkward silence settles in. I say almost because Yuta is humming some sort of song, like an idiot.
To be honest there are now plenty of things I want to ask Senpai, like why she is undercover in the first place... Does this mean those times I saw her wearing some weird attire and being on top of high things weren't just hallucinations?
I also want to ask where she was when Vlov was around, but I simply don't have enough courage, secretly I hope to keep the status quo where she's just a good and kind friend. Not secretly a super old warrior or whatever.
There is just one topic where my curiosity does overcome my cowardice however. "So, how do you two know each other?" I'm repeating a question, this time I hope to receive a truthful answer.
Okkotsu chuckles. "It all started back before the meteor hit the dinosaurs, when Ciel here was born..." I glare him into silence. "And then you skip some time until I am born..." It doesn't work of course.
Ciel huffs. "Ignore what he says, Tohno." I'm already doing that. "The truth is that he and I almost never shared a single word to each other. It's just that occasionally we would meet when I was hunting a vampire." That makes a lot more sense.
She's completely red. "And for your information, the first words he told me was marry me." Ah, so he had the Hisui reaction? I'm just glad he does have a weakness after all. Wait, what if he says that to Akiha!?
He begins stuttering, it would be an adorable sight it he was a girl. "T-that was just a joke! I-it's not my fault you didn't get it, pedo h-hag!" I see, calling her hag is just a natural defense mechanism he ended up developing.
This time is Ciel who grins. "Right." You know, maybe these two really should get together, I feel like Senpai could reign him in. "Anyways, you shouldn't trust this bastard, Tohno." Ah, so I'm finally getting the reason for all this hostility.
She glares at him. "He doesn't work for a faction, and vampires aren't the only thing he kills either. He has even ended the lifes of members of the Holy Church, human lives." A cold shill runs through my body.
But Yuta just groans. "Give me a break! That Kiara was a cult leader, and Solomon was literally a Dead Apostle Ancestor." He then scowls. "It's the church you shouldn't trust Shiki! I mean they literally tor-." He suddenly stops himself.
Crossing his arms he looks away. "I guess telling you that is a bit too much, but just trust me." I feel like the both of you are heavily biased. "And of course I work alone, everyone else is just too weak and slow. They hold me back." The train finally arrives.
He gets up. "You would know that, dumbass." And then he leaves ahead. "C'mon Shiki, I wanna spy on your Persona lifestyle!" Are you sure you don't work alone because nobody likes you?
My eye twitches, and I keep sitting down for now. "So what was that about? Did you hold him back or whatever?" It wouldn't surprise me. I saw him fighting after all, not even a monster could keep up.
Ciel sighs. "We once fought a Dead Apostle Ancestor who held the Idea Blood of Sword." I have no idea what that means. "Okkotsu accidentally hit me by accident... because I was an idiot who kept rushing. I have regeneration though, so I was fine."
"But... I don't think he was. He's still the one who constantly brings it up after all, and ever since that day he stopped fighting with as much collateral damage as he used to." Yuta, caring about collateral damage?
No way right? I mean, his arrow almost hit me... But then again, I am still alive, and I don't know the history of how exactly.
There is one thing I understand about this though. "In that case, you should probably apologize, Senpai." If she messed up something because she was being reckless, and it's still affecting Yuta, then she should say sorry. It's easy.
She looks down. "Ah, I know." That's good then. "It's just that he's so insufferable that I always end up losing my head when around him." I understand that.
And I have a feeling things will only get worse with time...
"Before we go in, anything I should know?" Yuta smiles. "Tell me what genius plan you came up with!" I wish I had come up with some genius plan, but even as I wrecked my mind, I just couldn't...
I sigh. "We are... gonna work on one as we go." Please be on my side, Miss Luck! "And try to be a little less... you. Around Akiha at least, she is the type who would eat you alive." There, I have officially warned him.
Which is why I can't be blamed... "Ah, I'm so scared of your little sister~! Save me Shiki, she's gonna eat my soul~!" If he gets himself killed.
I walk forwards, and snort. "Heh, just remember what I told you." I know it's wrong of me, but I almost do wish she chews him out. I deserve some form of compensation for tolerating him after all.
Eventually we reach the mansion's gate. Once Hisui sees me, she smiles lightly... And that immediately changes once she sees Yuta, which makes her go as pale as a ghost. I guess I'm about to face the consequences of my actions.
Yuta gets closer and whispers on my ears. "You think we could keep convincing her I'm an hallucination? Maybe then no one would question me living here." That's such an awful plan that I don't even give him the dignity of a response.
Instead I walk closer to the gate. "Yo Hisui! I'm back! And I bought a classmate with me!" As soon as I say that, I regret it, because Yuta isn't wearing any type of school uniform.
She doesn't notice however, instead taking a step back. "Lord Shiki... Are you telling me that the man besides you is real?" Oh boy, don't tell me she actually went crazy. That makes me feel genuinely bad, you know!?
Yuta smiles. "Yeah, of course I'm real! My name is Yuta Okkotsu by the way, nice to meet you!" Ah, so this is the angle we are going with huh? Yeah, this is definitely the first time you two are meeting.
Hisui completely ignores him however, instead she keeps waiting for my answer. "Y-yeah, he's real Hisui..." She... she was genuinely thinking he was some hallucination in her head, wasn't she? Though I guess she can't be blamed.
I do kind want to know what's on her mind though, considering she thinks she hallucinated Yuta's existence a few hours ago... Eh, I'm sure she will forget all about after a few days. Right?
Hisui looks like she's about to fall over. "I see... It's a honor to meet you Yuta Okkotsu." She then shakes her head. "Anyhow, allow me to open the gate for you, Lord Shiki..." Ah, that's good.
Nowadays it has a bunch of technology to stop thieves and I'm really bad at messing with. Thanks to Hisui however, both of us enter without any issues.
Hisui's gaze is completely focused on Yuta. Her face is the most awkward combination between pale and blushy that I have ever seen. Could it be that she developed both a crush and paranoia at the same time?
And it doesn't help that her gaze is actually putting Yuta on the back foot too. He's looking everywhere that isn't Hisui right now, which means all the work is gonna be left for me. I suppose I should just be glad he didn't ask for her hand in marriage again...
I clear my throat to get their attention. "So Hisui, did Akiha arrive from school already?" Normally she doesn't, since her commute is much longer than mine. "The truth is that Yuta is gonna be spending a few days here, so... I wanted to talk to her about it."
Hisui hesitantly nods. "Yes, she has arrived already... And I suppose she won't reject Yuta Okkotsu." She definitely will. You're letting your little crush blind you to the truth huh? Well, it's adorable, so I won't comment on it.
She then raised an eyebrow. "But... how does Lord Okkotsu plan to stay here, if he doesn't have any luggage?" I... I hadn't even thought about that.
He shrugs. "I'll bring it later." So we are gonna have to go out at night to get your stuff...? Geez, you should have prepared better, instead of causing me even more trouble than you already have!
Hisui nods, and then turns around. "Follow me then." She begins our short walk towards the inside of the mansion, where a supreme demon awaits me, hungry for my poor innocent soul.
As we walk, I whisper on his ear. "Dude, you didn't even bother to bring your luggage?" Nevermind that I didn't notice until now, or that he was busy watching me throughout the day.
He pouts. "Well, it's not like I have any." E-eh? "I just grab whatever I need when I need it... I live a life of frugality you know? I was born in this city, but my true place of residence is the Earth itself." It's official, he is even more air headed than Arcueid.
I growl. "That isn't enough of a good excuse, I know you still haven't met her, but Akiha will analyze every little flaw you have...!" He's making convincing my sister a even harder job than it needs to be.
He sighs. "If this is such a big deal, I could just use my love authority on her." Confusion immediately appears on my face. "There was this goddess who planned on resurrecting to the modern era by abusing a curse. Her name was Ishtar or something."
"The voices didn't like her unpredictability, so I revived her in a controlled environment and then kicked her ass. For my efforts, I copy her authority over love. So I could make your sister fall for me and..." Yeah, that's it.
I grab him by the shirt, Hisui notices and stops walking, but I keep my tone low. "You haven't been using that, right?" If he has... then screw it, I will cut him down right here and now.
He glares at me. "And if I have? What you're gonna do about it, tough guy?" With this distance, maybe I can kill him before he realizes what's going on, like with Arcueid. "But no, I haven't used it in a few weeks now." Hah?
His answer surprises me so much that I let him go. You would think the first thing he said would basically be a confession, but then again, I guess Yuta would be the type who escalates fights for no reason.
He sighs. "I mean, it's not like I have a harem following me around, right?" That's a good point... "It's just something useful for infiltration, I can use it then deactivate it. That way we could convince your sister."
"And besides, it's a useful authority for combat too. Like, I can make a weapon fall in love with me so it misses me by purpose. I dodged a nuke once by doing this trick." What sense does that make!? It's even stupider than my lines!?
My eye twitches. "Look... just don't use that on my sister... or any person who isn't a evil bastard." I can't believe someone with such little common sense is running around with so much power.
He looks away. "Alright, I won't. Just remember that more lives are on the line here than just yours." There's no way I could forget that. I was in a similar situation yesterday after all.
And... "Yuta... Sorry for assuming things about you." I think I acted in the right way, but there's no denying he didn't deserve it. And there's no way I wouldn't apologize after scolding Senpai the way I did.
He blushes. "A-apology accepted, I guess." He seems almost confused, but at this point I have accepted that he doesn't know how to act around other people. "And sorry for suggesting we should mind control your sister into loving me." I hope he realizes how stupid he sounds when he says that outloud.
"Um... are you two okay?" A blushing Hisui interrupts us.
I do not wish to know what's going on her head anymore.
AN: Born to harem build, forced to shounen... Well, that applies to pretty much every Nasu protag.
Also, I think this might be my first "It's True Love" omake that got a part two. It can't be helped though, 'cause writing this one is pretty fun.
