Three types of robots for points. That fourth one though… of course they would include something like that. Destroying the first three should be good enough for points. The real problem is what they are testing for with the fourth. With all the noise in the room he was starting to get a headache, making it difficult to think. "Are you okay?" a calm voice questioned.
"I'm fine. The noise is a real pain though."
"So I see you face a different darkness than the rest." Kikuchihara was not sure how to react to that. It was as if someone inverted Midorikawa's personality and mixed it with Jin's infuriating cryptic sayings. "I'm Kikuchihara Shiro"
"Tokoyami Fumikage" He pointed over his left shoulder "and this is dark shadow." Over the loudspeaker it was announced that each group should start heading to their testing area. Kikuchihara and Tokoyami split in separate directions. He would be a good classmate to have. With the groups a bit smaller his headache started subsiding. A timed test in an urban area similar to cityscape A, robots that need destroying: not much different than a day in border. If the three pointers aren't much more difficult to beat than the one pointer then I shouldn't waste my time with them. The second the exam started he was darting out searching for the three pointers. Using a scorpion, he sliced off the legs at the knee joints before destroying the head. These are way more fragile than trion soldiers. Shouldn't be much work. Guess that's why Jin said 'just act like a normal border agent'.
Time on the clock continued ticking down. Some contestants faced the robots head on, some scouted and targeted groups of lower point ones. A few lured robots into traps. One such person was Toru Hagurake. She threw debris in one direction to lure the robots then hit the weak point with a pipe. "Eleven points!" She looked for more robots before spotting one sneaking up on another contestant who was dealing with a pair of three pointers. "On your right! Look out!" He jumped over the robot's arm as it lashed out where he had just been. "Thanks." One of his yellow swords sailed over her head, hitting a robot that appeared from around the corner. He hopped down and walked over to her. "Name's Kikuchihara"
"Hagakure Toru, you want to team up?" She bouncily said waving at him. "There aren't any rules against it and.." she paused for a second while Kikuchihara stabbed at another robot right before she smacked it with a pipe. "We avoid sneaky attacks like that." Might as well. "Sure." From there, the two started building a good rhythm over the next couple of minutes. Along the way the two had to knock a few contestants out of the path of stray laser blasts.
Two Minutes Remaining
Rumble Rumble Rumble Screaming from other contestants rose from the center of the city area. "I wonder what they are screaming about? The robots aren't that scary" said Hagakure. "It could be that zero pointer they warned us about earlier" replied Kikuchihara. A large piece of concrete flew past the two. Over and past a few buildings was a large robot. That looks taller than a bambster. A little extreme for people with no training. "Definitely the zero pointer that's making them scream." He turned away from it to go get more points but Hagakure darted towards it. Is she crazy? It's a waste of time fighting that thing. Then he spotted what she had. An examinee had gotten trapped by some of the rubble. By the time he caught up with her, she had already tried lifting the debris by leveraging the pipe. "Help me move this" "Alright on three!"
"One, two three" The concrete creaked before slowing lifting. "Move now before we drop it" yelled Kikuchihara at the newly freed examinee. The examinee crawled out before running away from the approaching zero pointer. The two dropped the concrete and also began running from the large robot. "Do you think you could get rid of it?" Hagakure cried out. "I can't reach it from down here. Can you think of any way to get higher up?" he questioned. "No, I think our best bet is run down the clock or lose it." She panted. There should only be thirty seconds left. She's been keeping up pretty well. Not sure she can keep up the pace much longer though. In that case… He scooped her up like a sack of potatoes and continued running. "Wha-!" she shouted startled. "You're too tired to run. It's pointless wasting your energy here. We may need to fight more robots and I can't watch both them and the zero pointer at the same time." He heard some rattling to his left and ducked out of the way of a one pointer. "You can count on me! Focus on the robots ahead!" He nodded and switched paths again to avoid running into a set of fleeing examinees. Just as he rounded the corner of the alleyway an alarm went off. Time's Up!
He put her down and sighed. "Hopefully we got enough points." As he was saying this Toru had been searching through her pockets and pulled out her phone. "Here! We should stay in contact if we get in together."
"Why not." He gave her his number and inputn hers into his phone. "I have to go meet with my brothers but I'll contact you later."
"See you then. Good luck!" She chatted with the other nearby contestants after he left.
Kikuchihara walked outside. Once he was outside the immediate testing center, he deactivated his trigger, returning to his previous outfit. Out in the crowd of people he located Jin. He walked up to Jin a little surprised to see that Midorikawa wasn't already there. "I finished the exam and your advice was not helpful." Jin simply shrugged "I figured you would do well. Look there's Midorikawa." Midorikawa shouted at them and introduced them to his new friend Kaminari. Jin patted Midorikawa on the head. "I see the test went well." "Yep! How did you do Kikuchihara-nii?" Kikuchihara rubbed the back of his head "It went well, the zero pointer was overkill though."
Jin clapped his hands together and stated "Well we have to get going now. It was nice meeting you Kaminari." Midorikawa and Kaminari said their goodbyes waving eachother off. The trio made their way back to the apartment. "Jin what do you want to tell us?" questioned Kikuchihara. "Hm?" "Your heartrate sounds different. Something is going on." Jin gives him and Midorikawa a placating look. "I'm not completely sure but I have a feeling that something major will happen soon." He rested a hand on their coffee table. "Regardless I want to know what the two of you found out first."
AN: Alright everyone! I'm still alive. The invisicrew has now been formed. Kikuchihara's experience as part of a team with chameleon users gives him a huge advantage when working with Hagakure compared to the other characters. In case any of you were wondering how they have any money, Jin took up a job as a barista and on the side occasionally does the 'Did you draw the so and so card trick'. He is not always right but his side effect does allow him to get it correct regularly enough for it to work. On a side note I finally got access to some of the earlier BNHA manga volume so I now have more references to work with.
AN2: My little brainstorming cloud at the moment has a few of these ideas floating around. #1: At the USJ trion soldiers appear in addition to the league of villains. #2: Trion soldiers do not show up but Jin gets a warning to the main campus. #3: At some point Konami shows up along with one of the operators via random spooky portal at the USJ. #4 USJ happens as normal but our trio are only a minor part of it. Or #6: Jin predicts the trion soldiers will appear in the city so our school duo stay home to deal with them while the USJ proceeds as mostly canon.
