The Three Legendary Saiyans.
Chapter 78: A Trip To Vampa.
Hunched over the torn-open shell of a Vampa Beetle; his orange blood and guts congealed into a thick paste when exposed to the bitter air on the planetoid, Broly tearing off one of its pincers and scooping out the orange paste before offering it to Cheelai and Lemo: both of whom stood in long overcoats after having ditched their Frieza Force Armor for more casual clothes; both looking disgusted by the local sources of food.
"Really? This is what you and your father ate for forty years?" Cheelai exclaimed with audible and expressive restraint; pinching her nose to the smell of the paste before taking a taste, recoiling to the sour taste of the paste before breaking into a coughing fit.
"I am not tasting that stuff; I'm sticking with the supplies we got on Frieza Planet 448 since they regained their independence and offered shelter and trade with Rebels against Frieza" Lemo spoke quickly; retreating to the supples they'd been able to purchase with the reward money Frieza had given them in exchange for discovering Broly and Paragus, money they'd put to good use on the purchase of clothing, food, water and weapons.
Broly only nodded towards Cheelai as he openly consumed the sour paste-like substance; his body bandaged and patched with medical gauds and patches to keep his wounds from getting infected, his vocabulary having not improved much but his simple gesture indicated that he and Paragus had lived on the putrid slime for many years thus it had to be safely edible.
"Ick… it tastes awful! How did you get used to this?" Cheelai communicated through a fit of coughing; spitting up orange-tinted saliva as she tried to get the sour taste out of her mouth before rushing to the Shuttle to get some water with Lemo laughing as she vanished just as a loud beeping rang out.
Between fits of coughing after tasting the guts of a Vampa Beetle; the sensor within their Shuttle flared up as an energy signature was detected on the planet, the sensor beeping a second time as it detected not one but two high energy signatures.
Cheelai and Lemo both reacting instantly as they dove into the Shuttle and came back out with Cheelai wielding a pair of Laser Pistols while Lemo carried a large-calibre Laser Rifle, both pointing the guns at the entrance of their cavernous new home as two figures emerged into their sights.
"Whoa now; please put the guns down, we're not here to fight" Spoke a voice all too familiar to Cheelai and Lemo; the pair lowering their guns slightly as Raijin stepped into view, his clothes now vastly different as he was wearing jeans and a baggy shirt.
Raijin raised his hands to show he had no weapons but a small case whilst Goku entered the cave after Raijin had; still wearing his normal orange gi with his blue t-shirt like he'd been wearing at The Ice Continent.
"Hey now… I remember you two! You two are the ones who summoned Shenron and saved Broly! It takes real guts to defy Frieza much less steal The Dragon Balls from him" Goku spoke as soon as he saw Cheelai and Lemo; recalling who they were after some brief thought, walking over and giving them both pats on the shoulder when speaking on their bravery to rebel.
"How do you know that? I don't recall seeing you in the final moments of the fight" Lemo spoke; not lowering his gun when he'd not seen Goku present at the moment of their Wish.
"That's a rather long explanation… but anyway we're here to assist you" Raijin answered on Goku's behalf; figuring that Cheelai and Lemo wouldn't understand the concept of Fusion at this time when tensions were still high.
"And how exactly are you going to assist us?" Cheelai spoke; not lowering her Pistols while Lemo had lowered his Rifle when seeing that the pair of Saiyans did not come with the intention of fighting as if they had then they would have knocked Cheelai and himself aside with no effort.
"Raijin…" Goku spoke Raijin's name; turning to his friend with a beaming smile with the knowledge of what lied within the case Raijin carried.
"Yeah; I got it" Raijin ignoring the pair of pistol's trained on him as he opened up the container he'd been carrying in one hand; revealing a set of nine Capsules, taking out the one with a red marking and flinging it out into the back section of the cavern before the capsule expanded into a large dome-shaped Capsule House.
"Inside you'll find all the creature comforts the three of you will need, security, beds to sleep in, medical supplies, living space, running water, safe food…" Raijin listed off the benefits of The Capsule House taking note that Cheelai and Lemo dropped their weapons and were quick to enter the house and peek inside; Raijin glancing down at the orange paste spilling out of the Vampa Beetle as he mentioned safe food and gave the paste an understanding look when all he had to eat on Namek in his childhood and adolescence was crab meat.
"Can I just ask you again… why did you help us?" Cheelai spoke as she came out of the house with a medical kit to treat Broly with, repeating the question she had asked Raijin on Earth but their encounter with Bojack had cut the answer short.
"Because during our battle; I saw Broly's potential… he was stronger than all three of us individually and after he transformed none of us could even hold our ground against that might, I want to help you develop and control that power but also… I hope you'll join us as a Z Fighter" Raijin answered Cheelai upon giving her a friendly glance; speaking as he crossed the cavern towards Broly himself, making eye-contact with the Saiyan as Broly himself gave a muted acknowledgement of Raijin's desire to help him in the form of a nod of his head.
"In addition; these other eight Capsules contain anything else you might need, that includes more food and water, clothing, medical supplies and some fuel cells for that Shuttle of yours" Raijin spoke as he placed the small case in a mailbox.
"How exactly did you get fuel cells for a Frieza Force Shuttle? Earth isn't involved with The Frieza Force in the slightest!" Lemo exclaimed; as far as he knew from his limited access to planetary reports was that Earth barely reached the technology class to even travel the cosmos yet.
"A long time ago; my wife acquired blueprints and pieces of the technology used by The Frieza Force and later an entire Mothership fell into her hands, she's a brilliant woman of science" Raijin spoke with pride in his wife; speaking on his first meeting with Bulma where she's given him medical treatment prior to ransacking Frieza's Ship on Namek and then hijacking King Cold's Ship after Future-Trunks had slain Mecha Frieza and King Cold by himself.
"So how exactly did you get here so quickly? We made sure we weren't being tracked through Space and I don't see a Ship!" Lemo questioned; stepping past Raijin and Goku only to see no sign of a Ship nor Shuttle like they'd used to traverse the cosmos.
"Oh I can answer that! I tracked Broly's Energy through Space and teleported us here with my Instant Transmission!" Goku chimed in; finally speaking when his own technique was relevant to the conversation at hand, placing his fingers on his forehead as he spoke and teleporting from where he stood to the back of the cavern as a demonstration.
"Instant what-now?" Lemo asked; clearly confused by what they meant by instantly travelling through Space without any kind of transport ship.
"Basically Goku can teleport through Space as long as he can detect an identifiable life sign; pay it no mind" Raijin gave a brief explanation of Goku's teleporting ability knowing too well how poorly Goku could explain it.
"What do you have to say about all this Broly?" Cheelai ignored that apparent ability to teleport through Space; asking Broly directly on how he felt about all the assistance and safety suddenly being offered though Broly only gave an approving nod due to his lack of social skills.
"Well we do have a request… we'd like to come back here a couple times a month and train with you Broly, you were stronger than any of us and with Frieza still out there; we will need all the strength and all the powerful fighters we can get" Goku took his turn to speak; walking up to Broly wearing his kindly and friendly smile though Cheelai noticed that Goku too had bandages and patches over his own battle wounds.
Broly gave an excited smile at the idea of facing The Saiyans again; his own Saiyan Nature shining through at the idea of learning to control his powers and these new friends would help him gain that control, "All right… friends?".
"Friends!" Raijin and Goku both gestured the fist-bump towards Broly of whom mimicked the pair and returned the fist-bump, Cheelai and Lemo both smiling with approval as Broly's social circle was expanding along with the prospect of controlling those wild green powers of his.
"I guess now that our business is done; we'll be taking our leave" Raijin remarked; checking a wrist-watch and waving to Goku that it was time to leave, the pair beginning to walk away from the cave.
"WAIT! We still don't know your names" Lemo called out after The Saiyans.
"Oh yeah… I'm Raijin" Raijin finally gave Cheelai and Lemo his name; having not introduced himself when helping them when he'd had to fend off Bojack's mighty punches and apparent immunity to pain while in a weakened state.
"And I'm Goku… but you Broly; call me Kakarot" Goku gave his name but quickly turned to a smiling Broly and proclaiming that Broly should call him by his Saiyan Name, a notion that Raijin felt confused by.
As Raijin and Goku walked away from the cavern; taking a moment to take in the sights of Vampa, listening to the crunch of the stones under their feet and the dull orange skies above; though the planet had a vicious and unforgivable survival-of-the-fittest life cycle; Raijin and Goku felt that they'd given the new trio everything they would need to survive on this world.
"You know that Research Laboratory I told you about… I get the feeling Bulma is doing something with The Dragon Balls in there" Raijin spoke with a tone of urgency; confessing his concerns regarding the topic of Bulma's sudden interest in gathering The Dragon Balls for some secret project that he wasn't privy to but Ewan was.
"When it's Bulma; she's always up to something… don't worry about it" Goku remarked with his typical carelessness; his trust in Bulma was unshakeable and solid as he couldn't see Bulma doing anything that would cause the world to be endangered when she'd been assisting them in keeping Earth safe ever since their youth.
Raijin knew too well that Goku and Bulma had a close friendship that took them back to their youth; he knew that if Goku and Bulma said that he shouldn't pay it any more thought then he should but he couldn't help but get a nasty feeling in the back of his head whenever he thought of that Sealed Chamber in the Laboratory the one place in that building where he was denied access.
