We're already at chapter 5? Hell yeah! Last chapter the Dixon brothers came in and Callie is already drifting to them. And hopefully you guys liked the Josie and the women getting together, because I just hated when the women had to do the laundry and not learn how to use weapons until season 2 (how impractical is that?!). Also I apologise for not updating sooner, college just hounded me and I'm on Christmas break! So hopefully I'll update more. Anyways, let's get started!

Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines

Jeremy's PoV

I look upon the Quarry, watching the kids play with Josie and Tabby. Where is Callie? I've been looking for her all day. It's like she disappeared or clearly avoiding me. I spot Elijah and go to him.

"Hey man, have you seen Callie?" I ask him, a bit desperate.

He shakes his head at me. "No, sorry, I've been with the kids all morning and practicing putting a gun together."

I nervously bite my lip. Jesus where could she be?

"You alright, son?" I look to Dale, a very kind and outspoken old man. He doesn't give a damn what people think of him, if people want an honest opinion, he will give it. He stands for what's right.

"Yeah." I answer and he gives me a look. "Alright, fine, it's my friend, Callie. She's been gone all day."

He nods. "Ah, I seen her go off with Glenn. He went out to get supplies. He'll be back soon, don't worry."

I watch him walk off back to his RV. She what?! She can't just do that without telling me. She also can't go out there since she doesn't know much about defending herself.

"You ok?"

I whip around to Aubrey, a childhood best friend to the blondes, Amy and Andrea. I put a hand over my heart and laugh it off. "You scared me."

She looks guilty for a second before she laughs along with me. "Sorry. I just saw you here, looking a bit upset. So I was checking to see if you were ok?"

I nod. "Yeah. Everything is fine."

In reality everything wasn't. It was a huge lie. And she knows it too.

Josie's PoV

"Hey, Miss Josie?" I look over to a young boy, Carl. Lori's son. He's quite short for his age. "How long until you have the baby?" He curiously asks.

I caress my bump for a minute before answering. "4 months."

He smiles. "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?"

"It's a girl. I found out before everything happened."

"Do you have any names?" I hear a girl ask and see Sophia. A very timid young girl. Which is because of her dad, Ed. I want to punch him but Elijah doesn't want me to get involved, since he hits his wife doesn't mean he won't hit anyone else. I hate the thought of not doing anything to help her or her mother, Carol.

"Not yet. Maybe you guys could come up with a list of girl names to help me out." I offer and they nod eagerly.

Maya is already coming up with names. Destiny is on the top of the list. Connor thinks that as long it's a good name, he's not really bothered. Elijah has been trying to give names but they're not really good. He's been giving Dorothy or Sally. They're definitely not on my list of names.

But this will give the other kids at camp something to do. Keep their minds off of what is currently happening around the states.

"So... now that the kids are far enough away, any names in mind?" Tabby leans closer and I laugh.

"Oh yeah. Destiny." I tell her and she grins.

"Thats a beautiful name. Carl will be annoyed he didn't come up with that one."

I nod. "Oh yeah. But it's a nice thought to think of some."

We all need some sort of normal. Even the kids. They may be kids but I have a feeling they know what's going on even though we're trying to protect them.

Callie's PoV

The car pulls up to the Quarry and I see Shane come up to us. Here we go. I step out of the vehicle as Shane rounded on me.

"What the hell is this, Callie?"

I look at him dead in the eyes. "Survival."

He chuckles darkly. "What? More strays?"

I hear footsteps behind me. "What did ya call me?" I wince. Merle. This is not good. I see a crowd forming behind Shane while noticing Glenn carrying our bags of goods away from the scene.

Before it escalates I look back to Shane. "They know how to hunt." This is my plan. That's why getting to know people is important, even now in this world. Learning what they do. They can hunt for fresh meat. It'll save us a lot of food in the long run, keep our cans for winter even if it's a long way off, we need to be prepared.

He looks slightly intrigued by this. "They do, huh?"

I nod my head eagerly. "Yes, which means we don't have to use too much of our supply of food. They can hunt for meat while we use can of vegetables. We'll be saving on a lot of food for the winter."

He just stares at me, not saying anything until, "fine, they will stay. But if they cause any trouble, that's on you." He warns, pointing his finger at me before stomping away. Even though he gained people who are important for our survival, he doesn't seem happy about it.

I breathe a sigh of relief and watch everyone give wary looks to Daryl and Merle, clearly not trusting them before they walk away, back to what they were initially doing. I catch Jeremy storming towards me. Well, I'm dead.

"What the hell is that?" He snarls and I push his shoulder.

"What's what?" I ask him sarcastically and he pulls a face.

"You know what. Leaving."

I roll my eyes at him. "You're not my babysitter. I'm 29 years old. I don't need to be told what to do."

"Clearly you do. You're acting like a child." He spits out.

My eyes widen before I clench my jaw. "How about you back off?"

He grips my arm. "I'll tell you something, you're not going back out there until you act your age. You got that?"

I rip my arm out of his grip. "We grew up together, that doesn't mean you control me. So, as I said. Back. off." Jeremy scoffs before he goes away.

We're left in silence until...

Merle whistles lowly. "That was something."

"Shut up." Daryl scolds him.

I feel a tear run down my face and hastily wipe it away. I hate the fact that when I'm angry, I cry. Damn it. Jeremy doesn't get to tell me what I can or can't do. Yes I acted like a child because he was as well. He knows I don't like being cooped up for too long, and I'm getting better at it.

But he doesn't know me. Not really. I always keep him at arms length. But when I let him in, he tries to be a parent and I hate that. He's my friend not my guardian.

Tabby's PoV

I approach Callie, who is slouched over a log and sharpening something... ah, machetes. That's... slightly scary. Is she going to use those on Shane because he's being an ass?

"Hey." I greet and she looks at me a little surprised. She didn't jump like I gave her a fright, more like, surprised that someone is talking to her.

"Hello." She greets back a bit skeptical.

I plop myself down next to her making her shuffle awkwardly away to gain some space. Ah very awkward then.

"I just want to say thank you. Because I realised I didn't when you tried to persuade Shane to allow me to stay."

She smiles at me. "You did that perfectly on your own."

I smile at her. "Thanks. Again. Shane can be a dick."

"He is a dick." She chuckles and I laugh with her. She's not wrong there. He's not very good at leading people. He judges them, like the Dixon brothers. Yeah, they seem like bad news, but they know how to hunt, he should be grateful for that. He's also having all the women doing the chores which in my eyes is impractical and kind of sexist in a way.

"Are those for him?" I ask, nodding to the machetes and she laughs.

"God no. Even though he's a dick, he's good for the group. But he needs to know people's pasts don't matter in this world."

That's very true. It doesn't matter what you did, if you can hunt, that's a big thing now. We need those men here. Helping us and with us, because if they leave, we'll be sending out Glenn all the time and he could get killed.

Callie's PoV

After my talk with Tabby, it was nice, to have a friend. She's a nice girl who has the ability to handle herself but she doesn't see it.

I head towards the Dixon brothers, who have their own secluded spot in camp. When I approach the two, they're just sitting on their chairs respectfully cleaning their gun and arrows.

"Hey, honey bunch." Merle calls out, stumbling out of his chair.

"Are you drunk?" I ask a bit bewildered. It hasn't been that long since they've arrived. Or maybe he's only now getting drunk because he feels safe enough to do so.

"Nope, try again." He teases and I watch Daryl roll his eyes, clearly fed up of the situation already. As I am.

I look at him confused for a minute and then it clicked. "Seriously? Shane is gonna kill me if he sees you." I point out to him.

He shrugs. "He's busy trailing boss lady around to notice."

I frown. "Boss lady?" Both of the brothers give me a look. "Ohhh, you mean Lori. That makes sense." I pause and my eyes widen. "Wait, they're a thing?! She lost her husband two weeks ago."

Daryl snorts. "That ain't stopping her."

I nod my head in agreement. "Clearly."

Jesus couldn't she have waited longer than two weeks? Maybe people grieve differently but still, your husband just died. You can't just hop onto the next person straight away, give it time.

But that's asking too much from Lori anyway.

So that's the chapter!! Shane is a bit of dick isn't he? Do you agree with Jeremy being controlling? There's only a certain amount of control Callie can take and well, we're already at the breaking point. She's learning too, trying to learn that staying in one place is good. Also the Callie and Tabby friendship has begun as well as the Merle, Daryl and Callie friendship.

This will not be a love story. A big no no. In future it could be a possibility that Callie will have a relationship but Callie isn't just inserted here to be in a relationship with a main. She's here because she'll drive the story in her own way.
