Callie's PoV

She couldn't believe it, they're forcing Glenn to take a group into the city and she's not his partner.

"I'll do it." Andrea steps up and Callie sees Amy gripping her sister's arm tightly. Callie couldn't believe that Shane is allowing people who have never been on a run before to go into a city full of those things. Glenn has told her maybe once or twice that it is hell in there, that he has to go alone because it will draw less attention to himself and he's able to slip in and out. Shane is basically ringing the damn dinner bell.

The thing is, Shane even promised her that it will be just and her Glenn going on the runs, but one look at Jeremy says otherwise.

"Me too." Jeremy stands up which shocks her. What the fuck was he doing? Going on a suicide mission?

"I will." Morales says confidently to Shane, making his wife Miranda look at him shocked. There are going to be a lot of arguments tonight.

"I will." T-Dog volunteers, nodding to Morales. Clearly on the same team.

"Me too." Jacqui says, T-Dog was close to protesting but she gave him a stern look. "If you're going, so am I."

Callie looks over to Glenn, who is sitting next to Tabby, with his head in his hands. Showing that he is not with this plan at all.

"To hell with it, I'll go too." Merle voices and everyone who volunteered, clearly wanted to back out. Callie could feel Daryl's glare at Merle from where she was sitting. He was not happy with Merle, but the questions everyone wants to ask was why? Why would he go and risk his life for the rest of the group?

"Good that settles it." Shane states before sitting down next to Lori. The group goes into harsh whispers, clearly not happy with their partners, and Glenn puts his pot in the bucket, ready for the person who's doing the dishes to do it, before storming off. And who could blame him? Callie didn't at the least.

Callie watches Daryl and Merle head off and goes with them, ignoring Jeremy's glare on her back.

"The hell are ya doing, Merle?" Daryl snarls.

"Easy, baby brotha. I'm doing a bit of friendly volunteer work. Like pussies do. To earn our keep." Merle retorts back to him.

"We've already been earning our keep! By huntin' for these useless assholes. Whatcha really going there for?" Daryl questions, clearly wanting to know Merle.

"Well, to show 'em we're not useless. I overheard 'Boss Lady' over there, saying to her gal pals that we could be banished. If we keep our attitude up."

"You mean yours?" Callie asks him and Merle bares his teeth at her.

"Watch your mouth, sugar tits. Otherwise it will be put for better use other than mouthing off." Merle hisses and Callie narrows her eyes at him.

"Callie don't." Daryl warns, putting a hand on her arm but she shoves him off.

"Listen here, dickhead, if you go with them, you could be left behind. Don't you get that? They don't care about you." Callie snarls and Merle chuckles.

"Oh, baby, you gettin' me all teared up. I don't care if they don't care about me. We're giving them food, we're basically the only reason that they're livin' right now. If they leave me behind, then they have you two to deal with. And we're down one hunter."

"What if something happens?" Callie asks him, a softer tone to her voice than previously which shocks Merle before he regains his composure.

"Nothing will happen."

Callie nods at Merle before Jeremy blocks her view of him.

"Stay at camp while I'm gone." Jeremy warns her and Callie rolls her eyes.

"You don't have to worry about me. I'm more worried about you." Jeremy gives her a surprised look. "Look, you may be an ass half the time- no, pretty much all the time, but I care about you. We grew up together. So please, stay safe while you're in the city."

"I will." Jeremy smile softly and they embrace. This is the first time that they haven't argued in months. Callie wishes that it could always be this way. Just peace.

"Take care of Merle for me?" Callie asks, but it was more of a plea than a question.

"I will, I promise." Jeremy says before walking to the group, grabbing empty backpacks for their supply run.

Callie sees Glenn glance in her direction before waving at her, she raises her own. She wishes that she could be there, to watch his back. She also wishes that she could have gone with Daryl but he kindly refused saying that he needed time to himself. He says that he will be having an overnight hunt, which he only did by himself.

She watches Merle and Jeremy take off with the others, in an old truck that Glenn scavenged, he thought it would be best to take the piece of crap truck because it has a bed, which they'll be able to put all of their stuff in quickly if they are ever in a sticky situation.

Josie's PoV

Josie finishes braiding Maya's hair, getting it off her neck due to the heat. Today was a hot day, and she couldn't feel more sorry for the group that went into the city this morning. Connor was sitting next to his mother, just enjoying their company for the day, not wanting to feel like a kid according to her. He was 14, and in an apocalypse. Personally, Josie wants Connor to learn how to handle a gun, but she's afraid to bring it up with Elijah. He'll think that he's capable of protecting all of them, by himself, that Connor doesn't need to learn since he can.

"Hello, can you hear my voice?" A crackle sounds and we all turn to the radio surprised. "Hello. Hello. Can anybody hear my voice?"

Amy runs over to the radio, collapsing on her knees before answering. "Hey. Hello?"

"Can you hear my voice?"

Amy nodsher head enthusiastically at us before holding the button down again. "Yes, I can hear you. You're coming through. Over."

Josie holds Maya's shoulder, and looks around to everyone gathering, even Callie is here, looking at the radio. Same with Aubrey, she's been avoiding everyone, and staying inside most days. I can't believe that we made contact with someone, it's been two months since we have seen or heard anyone, and that was the start of the apocalypse.

"Anybody who reads, please respond. Broadcasting on emergency channel. We'll be approaching Atlanta on Highway 85. Anybody reads, please respond."

"We're just outside the city." Amy tellshim but it cackles. "Damn it. Hello? Hello?" Dale approaches her. "He couldn't hear me. I couldn't warn him."

"Try to raise him again. Come on, son, you know best how to work this thing." Dale

Shane comes over, slamming the axe in his hand in a piece of wood. He tries to work the radio. "Hello, hello, is the person who calls still on the air?" He pauses and there's nothing but silence. "This is officer Shane Walsh, broadcasting a person unknown, please respond." Still silence. And by looking around, Josie could tell that everyone's hope has diminished. "He's gone."

"There are others. It's not just us." Lori points out to Shane. We thought that we were the only ones left in Atlanta, maybe the whole of Georgia. But the guy on the radio clearly shows otherwise.

Shane nods his head. "We knew there would be, right? That's why we left the CB on."

"Lots of good it's been doing." Lori retorts. Josie agrees with Lori. That radio has been doing nothing useful, it's been silent for two months.

Shane sighs. "Okay."

Lori narrows her eyes at him. "And I've been saying for a week, we ought to put signs up on 85 to warn people away from the city."

Everyone standing around was nodding their head in agreement. Atlanta is a dead zone now, literally. Lori has been trying to convince Shane now, but he refuses every time.

"Folks got no idea what they're getting into." Amy mutters and Josie agrees with her.

"We need to warn them." She says to Shane and he shakes his head.

"Well, we haven't had time, and how would we warn them. The radio's not connecting to him." Shane tells Josie and she purses her lips.

"I think we need to make time." Lori snaps at him.

Shane chuckles. "Yeah, that-- that's a luxury we can't afford. We are surviving here. We are day to day."

"And who the hell would you propose we send?" Dale asks.

"I'll go. Give me a vehicle." Lori tells him.

Shane shakes his head at her. "Nobody goes anywhere alone. You know that."

"I'll go with her." Tabby and Callie say at the same time. Lori turns to Shane with a smug look.

"No, we're not risking anyone for a stranger over the radio. They'll be fine."

Lori clenches her jaw. "Yes sir." Lori storms off and Carl goes to follow her but Shane stops him.

"Hey hey hey. Go on, take a seat, bud. You're all right. Go on. You're all right." Shane cooes to him.

"I'll take him." Josie says, holding her hand out for Carl and he takes it. Shane nods his head grateful to her and Josie smiles in return, she watches Shane follow Lori. Josie turns and catches Elijah's eye, who was on the RV with a rifle on his lap. She gives him a small smile which he returns.

"Do you want to play?" Maya asks Carl, raises her brows at him. He shakes his head which makes her pout. Connor grins at them.

"Play with Sophia, Maya." Connor tells her but she shakes her head.

"No! Sophia is probably with her dad. He's scary. And I don't like him." Maya shivers and Connor looks to her a bit confused. Josie tenses at the mention of Ed.

"Maya, did he touch you in any way?" Josie asks her.

She nods her head. "Yeah, he grabbed my arm."

"I'll have a word with him." Josie tells her daughter and almost growls at the thought of some asshole touching her daughter.

"Can I go see my mom now?" Carl asks after a bit of silence and Josie nods.

"Sure, bud. Connor, look after Maya?"

"Yeah."

Josie walks with Carl to his mother's tent. That's when she sees Shane and Lori kissing. She looks at Carl who is looking done at the floor, not seeing it yet.

"Mom?" Carl calls out and she sees them break apart.

Shane walks out and meets them.

"What's up, bud? She's in there. Go on." Shane tells him and he goes to his tent.

"Shane, I need to talk to you." Josie tells him and he looks at her concerned.

Shane asks. "About what?"

"About Ed." Josie says and he nods.

"Sure." He takes her away from everyone. "What about him?"

"He grabbed my daughter's arm when she went to play with Sophia. She's scared of him. I'm scared of him. And I'm pretty sure so is everyone else. We need to do something about it."

"What can I do? I need proof of this, Josie, not a word of a child."

Josie snarls. "Maya being scared is proof enough. What about Carol? She has been bruised many times, that's proof."

"I can't Josie." Shane says and walks off.

That's when Josie realised that Shane is not a leader, he just has authority over everyone. People will die if he continues his ways.

Jeremy's PoV

The others are packing stuff from each of the shelves, Jeremy has finished packing his two bags. It is full of clothes, sunscreen, and anything useful that he could find.

"Right I'm going to have a quick look, I'll radio you once it's clear." Glenn tells us and everyone nods.

"I'm coming with you." Jeremy announces and Glenn looks skeptical at first before accepting it.

They're both outside, looking down the streets when they hear a horse. Why the fuck is a horse all the way out here?

"What the hell?" He hears Glenn mutter and he looks to him.

"What is it?" Jeremy asks him.

Glenn hands him the binoculars in disbelief, "take a look."

Jeremy grabs them and lifts them to his face, where he sees a man riding a horse, this time coming back, and a swarm of geeks chasing after him.

"Uh, Glenn. He's bringing company."

"Oh shit. Let's go to the alley." Glenn states and they both run down the emergency exit stairs, quickly going to the alley. Stopping to see the guy fall off his horse. A few gunshots go off, now everyone knows someone is out here.

He's practically dead.

They get to the edge of the roof, where they just have to climb a ladder down to meet the guy.

They hear a few more gunshots and Glenn looks through his binoculars once again.

"He's gone in the tank. I saw him close the latch."

Jeremy breathes a sigh of relief.

Glenn holds the radio up to his mouth, "hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Are you cozy in there?"

Rick is here! I wanted to leave it like the show left off. Having Glenn's words be the last words of the first episode. Ed is being a problem. Callie and Jeremy made up but for how long because he promised to look after Merle. Make sure to like this story and give a follow!
