Well here we are, Chapter 10! Rick will make a full appearance this episode. And the ball is rolling now for this series.
Disclaimer I only own my ocs and plotlines, the rest belongs to Robert Kirkman and the show.
Tabby's PoV
Tabby, Lori and Aubrey sort out mushrooms that they have collected. Amy has gone out yet again for more mushrooms. Well, the three girls have been collecting, Lori has lured Aubrey out of her tent that she has been in for hours now, Tabby knows she's depressed, everyone knows, but what pills do we get that suit her? Usually you go to a specialist to get diagnosed but now? We can't give her stuff that won't work or help her, it'll be more of a risk to do that.
"Any luck?" Lori asks as Amy approaches them with yet another bucket of mushrooms.
"How do we tell if they're poison?" Amy asks and hands the bucket over to the woman.
"Uh, there's only one sure way I know of." Lori says and they all raise a brow at her.
"Ask Shane when he gets back?" Amy offers.
Lori nods her head. "Yeah, you've got it."
"Thank you." Amy smiles.
Lori gets up and heads to Dale, who's on top of the RV for his watch. "Dale, I'm heading out." She says and turns to her son. "Sweetheart, I want you to stay where Dale can see you, okay?"
"Yes, mom." Carl agrees.
"Also go to Josie and play with Connor and Maya."
"Okay." Carl smiles and goes back to playing with his toy cars. Not listening to his mother.
"You too. Don't wander too far. Stay within shouting distance. And if you see anything, holler. I'll come running." Dale advises the woman.
"Yes, mom." Lori mutters before walking off into the woods.
"You think she's meeting up with Shane." Amy says, looking at her walk off.
"Oh yeah."
"Why do they think that we don't know?" Amy looks at Tabby with a raised brow. The girls try to include Aubrey but the girl was in a whole different world.
"They think they are being discreet." Tabby replies and Amy snorts.
"Does Carl know?" A small voice asks, and they look at Aubrey, a bit surprised that she is including herself. Usually she doesn't say anything and just sits there.
Tabby mutters. "Probably not."
Jeremy's PoV
They managed to make it down to the ground but they still haven't heard anything from the guy inside of the tank.
Glenn frustratingly holds the button down over the radio again. "Hey, are you alive in there?!"
"Hello? Hello?" The voice comes through and Jeremy happily slaps Glenn on the back. He's alive!
"There you are. You had me wondering." Glenn mutters honestly. To be honest, Jeremy thought the guy was dead.
"Where are you? Outside? Can you see me right now?" The guy asks all at once and Jeremy blinks at the radio. Glenn and him share a look.
"Yeah, we can see you. You're surrounded by walkers. That's the bad news." Glenn winces when he says that and Jeremy looks carefully out of the alley. Hardly any geeks in sight, thanks to the guy popping off rounds in the city full of geeks. What was this guy thinking?
"There's good news?" The guy asks hopefully and Glenn scrunches his eyes shut.
"No."
"Listen, whoever you are, I don't mind telling you I'm a little concerned in here." The guy snaps and Jeremy grins.
"I like this guy already."
Glenn gives him a look before holding the button down again. "Oh man. You should see it from over here. You'd be having a major freak-out."
Jeremy agrees with him.
"Got any advice for me?" The guy asks, a little bit too hopeful.
"Yeah, I'd say make a run for it." Glenn tells him and Jeremy whips around to him.
"Make a run for it?" Jeremy hisses and Glenn shushes him.
"That's it? 'Make a run for it'?"
"My way's not as dumb as it sounds. You've got eyes on the outside here. There's one geek still up in the tank but the others have climbed down and joined the feeding frenzy where the horse went down. With me so far?" Glenn rambles.
"So far." He confirms.
Glenn breathes. "Okay, the street on the other side of the tank is less crowded. If you move now while they're distracted, you stand a chance. Got ammo?"
A big question since he has used a few bullets.
"In that duffel bag I dropped out there, and guns. Can I get to it?" The guy asks. Guns?
Glenn huffs. "Forget the bag, okay? It's not an option. What do you have on you?"
"Hang on." It went silent for a couple of minutes. "I've got a Beretta with one clip, 15 rounds."
Glenn nods. "Make 'em count. Jump on the right side of the tank, keep going in that direction. There's an alley up the street, maybe 50 yards. Be there."
Leading him right to us. Jeremy was impressed by Glenn's geography on the city.
"Hey, what's your name?"
Glenn squints at the radio in disbelief. "Have you been listening? You're running out of time!" He hisses.
"Right."
A few gunshots go off, getting closer and closer to the alley. Glenn goes to the entrance, only to have a gun pointed at his face.
"Whoa! Not dead! Come on! Come on!" Glenn runs and they run to the ladder. "Back here! Come on! Come on!"
"Quickly!" Jeremy shouts.
Jeremy jumps on the ladder and quickly climbs. Glenn following behind him.
"What are you doing?! Come on!" Glenn shouts. Both Jeremy and Glenn hoist the man up onto the platform. "Nice moves there, Clint Eastwood. You the new Sheriff come riding in to clean up the town?"
"It wasn't my intention."
Glenn scoffs. "Yeah, whatever. Yeehaw. You're still a dumbass."
"Rick. Thanks." He holds out his hand for himself and Glenn to take.
Glenn takes it first. "Glenn. You're welcome."
Rick turns to Jeremy. "Jeremy." He smiles at the man.
"Oh no." Glenn mutters and he turns to him, seeing him looking down at the bottom of the ladder, where the mass of the dead were trying to climb up. The three turn up to see their way out, the long climb up. Glenn turns to Rick. "The bright side: it'll be the fall that kills us. I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy." Glenn climbs up the ladder.
"Oh." Rick mutters before following. Jeremy follows him too. "Are you two the ones that barricaded the alley?" Rick asks the pair.
"No." Jeremy tells him when they run across the rooftops that are joined together by wooden planks, easier access for survivors.
"Somebody did... I guess when the city got overrun. Whoever did it was thinking not many geeks would get through."
Glenn lifts up the hatch on the roof.
"Back at the tank, why'd you stick your neck out for me?" Rick asks, mainly Glenn but looking at me too.
"Call it foolish, naive hope that if I'm ever that far up shit creek, somebody might do the same for me. Guess I'm an even bigger dumbass than you." Glenn tells him before going down the ladder.
Rick turns to Jeremy. "And you?"
"I don't leave people to die. That's not me." Jeremy tells him and Rick smiles, before they follow Glenn.
Callie's PoV
Callie fixes a rip in her jeans that she got on one of the training hunting trips that she did with Daryl. She's better than when she first started out, but she's no where near as good as Daryl or Merle. They've been hunting their entire lives. It's scary to say that the pair were made for this world.
"Hey." Callie looks up to Josie, wringing her hands nervously. Callie just looks down, ignoring her. "Look, I'm sorry about having Tabby spy on you. I needed to know if you were safe to have around my children."
Callie sighs and looks up to the mother. "I get it. I really do. It's just.. for once I thought I had a friend, I didn't have many as a kid, so I thought that I did. But they used me."
Josie purses her lips. "I'm sorry. Could we start over?"
Callie stares at the woman in front of her for a moment, trying to see any lies, any manipulation. But sees nothing. "Sure."
"I also wanted to ask you something." She mutters and Callie raises a brow at her.
"I figured."
"I wanted to ask you if you could teach my son, Connor, how to defend himself. And me. I wanted to learn how to kill one of those things too. Because Elijah is well- he's just one person. I want to protect my kids." Josie explains.
"Where are your kids now?"
"They're with Elijah." She answers immediately.
"Would your husband like it?" Callie questions her even though she already knows the answer.
She shook her head. "No. But I'm willing to fight him. This world is dangerous."
"Now more than ever." Callie adds and Josie nods, pursing her lips. "I won't be doing long hours with you, since you will be due soon."
Josie nods. "Of course." She pauses. "Thank you."
"We'll start tomorrow."
I thought that this would be a great place to stop the chapter. Thought it would be a bit ironic that Jeremy said that doesn't leave people behind. Even though we all know what's coming up.
