Well here we are!
Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.
Josie's PoV
Josie watches Shane and Dale go up to Jim to give him some water.
"Jim, take some water?"
"All right."
"Yeah? All right. Here you go, bud." Shane gives him
"Mom, will he be okay?" Maya asks Josie and she nods.
"Yeah, he'll be okay."
The truth was, Josie didn't even know if he'd be okay. He was out there for hours digging, he was lucky he didn't heat stroke, because they need the hospital to treat something like that, but obviously they don't have the luxury.
"Pour some on my head?"
Shane nods and does as he's told. "Yeah. Cooling you down, huh?"
"Yeah. How long you gonna keep me like this?"
"We'll, yeah." Shane rubs his head awkwardly. "Until I don't think that you're a danger to yourself or others."
"Sorry if I scared your boy, and your little girl, and your kids." Jim says honestly and Josie smiles.
"You had sunstroke. Nobody's blaming you." Lori says and Josie nods.
"It's not your fault."
Connor looks at him. "I wasn't scared."
"No?" Jim smiles and Connor shakes his head. "Brave for your sister." Connor smiles and Josie scruffs his hair.
He was learning how to tie knots, something that Josie knew how to do. One of the only things. Thanks to her sewing skills, she could teach people how to tie knots.
"You're not scared now, are you?" Jim asks and Sophia shakes her head.
"No, sir."
"No." Maya mumbles.
"Your mama's right. Sun just cooked my head is all." Jim explains to Carl who nods.
"Jim, do you know why you were digging? Can you say?" Dale asks, looking at the kids for a split second.
"I had a reason. Don't remember. Something I dreamt last night. Your dad was in it. You were too. You were worried about him. Can't remember the rest. You worried about your dad?" Jim asks Carl. Lori looked between them nervously.
"They're not back yet."
"We don't need to talk about that."
"Your dad's a police officer, son. He helps people. Probably just came across some folks needing help, that's all. That man, he is tough as nails. I don't know him well but... I could see it in him. Am I right?"
Shane nods. "Oh yeah."
"There ain't nothing gonna stop him from getting back here to you and your mom, I promise you that." Jim tells them.
"Alright. Who wants to help me clean some fish, huh?" Shane asks.
"Sweet. Come on, Sophia, Maya."
The kids runs off and Connor looks at Josie for an answer.
"Go on." Josie says and he runs after them.
"You keep your kids close. You don't ever let them out of your sight." Jim warns Lori and Josie. They both look at him nervously before agreeing, then hurrying after their kids. Keeping their promise to Jim.
Callie's PoV
Glenn and Callie have been nervous throughout the car ride. Wondering if this was gonna be their last day. Were they gonna execute them? Callie had no clue. She didn't think of this.
The car stops and the door swings open, a few guys aiming guns at them.
"Hands up!" One of them threatens and they do as they say as they exit the car.
They quickly put bags over their heads.
Stay calm
"Take 'em inside"
They were guided through, gently. Not rough like it was if you were a normal prisoner. Who the hell are these people? They were put in a room together and they take the blindfolds off. Callie took note of the room. A bed? No window though. Just a little room.
"Callie, what do you think is gonna happen to us? What are they doing?"
"I think we're hostages. For a trade." Callie responds and he swallows.
"Great."
It was a while before anyone came in, well it felt like it to Callie, without seeing anything.
They pointed guns at Glenn. "Step back."
Glenn takes a look at Callie who nods. I guess they want me.
"You." A guy comes forward. "Sorry about this, but it's the only way."
They tape her mouth, before blindfolding Callie once again and taking her away.
She feels the air on her face and she had no idea where she was. She knew she went upstairs. The roof. They're gonna throw her off the roof. She begins to struggle.
"Quit it."
"Oye!" Someone shouts and the blindfold was taken off. She was quite on the edge and let out a frightened yell before being dragged a little back. Callie meets the eyes of Rick, and Daryl, looking up at her worriedly. She shakes her head. Please get the message. Don't come back. Run.
They put the bag back on her head and take her somewhere else. Not in the room I was with Glenn. They take off her blindfold and tape.
"Sorry. It was all for show."
"Nearly throwing me off the roof? That was for show?" Callie narrows her eyes at the man.
"Yeah. We need those guns. To protect what we have." He gestures to behind them and Callie sees all the old people, and Glenn.
"Fair enough. But we need those guns too. To protect our people."
"We'll see." He responds before walking away, back to the way they came from.
Callie walks over to Glenn. "What the hell is going on?"
He shrugs. "No idea. After they took you away, they took me away to this place and left me here."
What the hell is going on?
That's when a guy starts breathing erratic and everyone gathers around him. "Get Felipe!" One of the people cries and an old woman walks off.
Callie goes up to the man. "Sir, I need to ask where is your inhaler? Do you have it on you?" She asks him but he shakes his head.
A man comes up next to her, with his inhaler and Callie steps away. "All right. All right. Nice and easy. Just breathe. Just breathe. Just let it out. Just breathe."
Rick walks up to Callie.
"Are you okay?"
She nods. "Yeah. Thanks for coming back. I thought you got my message and took off back to camp."
Rick smiles. "I did. I just refused to listen." He looks around. "What the hell is this?"
"An asthma attack. Couldn't get his breath all of a sudden." Glenn explains and Rick raises a brow.
"I thought you guys were being eaten by dogs, man."
"What? Those guys?" Callie laughs and looks behind her to see three chihuahuas. Callie sees the looks on all their faces.
Rick walks over to a man. "Can I have a word with you? You're the dumbest son of a bitch I ever met. We walked in there ready to kill every last one of you."
"Well, I'm glad it didn't go down that way."
"If it had, that blood would be on my hands." Rick points out to him.
The guy raises a brow. "Mine too. We'd have fought back. Wouldn't be the first time we've had to. Protect the food, the medicine... what's left of it. These people, the old ones... the staff took off, just left 'em here to die. Me and Felipe were the only ones who stayed."
"What are you doctors?" Rick asks him.
"Felipe's a nurse... a special care provider. Me, I'm the custodian."
Callie looks at the man like he's mad. "You're insane."
"Probably."
"What about the rest of your crew?" Rick asks him.
"The Vatos trickle in to check on their parents, their grandparents. They see how things are and most decide to stay. It's a good thing too. We need the muscle. The people we've encountered since things fell apart, the worst kind... plunderers, the kind that take by force."
"That's not who we are."
"How was I to know? My people got attacked and you show up with Miguel hostage... appearances."
"Guess the whole world changed." T-Dog mutters.
He shakes his head. "No. It's the same as it ever was. The weak get taken. So we do what we can here. The Vatos work on those cars, talk about getting the old people out of the city. But most can't even get to the bathroom by themselves, still, it keeps the crew busy, and that's worth something. So we barred all the windows, welded all the doors shut except for one entrance. The Vatos, they go out, scavenge what they can to keep us going. We watch the perimeter night and day and we wait. The people here, they all look to me now. I don't even know why."
"Because they can." Rick answers and hands him a gun.
"Because they want to. Because you give them hope." Callie adds and the guy looks to her surprised.
I thought that this would be a good place to end it! We all know what's coming next at the quarry. Also, I'm currently on S7 of TWD and I forgot how much I like the season, yes it's slow but it's building the war against the saviours, need development for characters, build a story. Also Carl, sigh. Gets me emotional to think about. I don't know whether to keep him alive or not, haven't thought that deep ahead. So write down what I could do, comic route or show route for his fate. Because I would have to change a lot of things going forward, so it would be fun to do.
