Wooo we're here. The beginning of season 2! I felt like I've flown through season 1 and I'm like... how? It was fun writing all of this so far, on my days off. Anyways, let's get started! Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.

Callie's PoV

The vehicles pull up near the Vatos' compound. They couldn't get closer because of the ruins, so to Callie this was the closest they could get.

"They're barely hanging on." Andrea comments as they all exit the vehicles. Amy has been ignoring her for the rest of the journey, I guess it was the shock of her almost dying wore off and now it's hitting the girl that her sister almost left her. That her sister wanted to die and leave her in this world. "What makes you think they'll take in strangers?" Andrea asks, looking at the group that went into the city.

"The guns we gave them they'll throw us a party." Daryl says, looking at Rick and Callie. "Good call." He comments. "For once." He mutters as an afterthought.

Callie, Glenn, T-Dog, Daryl and Rick were in the front, then the rest of the group. Everyone who couldn't use a gun was at the back, which was too many people in Callie's opinion. They realise that it was quiet.

"Where are the lookouts?" Glenn asks, turning to Callie and Rick.

They should have been greeting them by now. "They would've been here by now." Callie points out to Rick and he nods in understanding. They would all be here right now. Guillermo especially.

They go past a wall where they see a walker eating a man. One of the Vatos men.

"Oh, son of a bitch." Shane curses at the sight.

Looking onwards, it was when they see more and more walkers eating the other guys. Revealing the truth. They were gone.

"Don't look." Amy tells the kids.

Callie realises that the walkers are noticing them, making them severely outnumbered. Shit. Callie untucks her gun.

"To hell with the noise." Rick mutters and they all fire at the walkers. It didn't take long before all the walkers were dead. "Come on! On me!" Rick shouts and they all hurry inside the building. More walkers will be on their way from the noise.

They enter the nursing home, the safest place. Or was it?

Sophia cries out when seeing the dead body on the floor.

"Keep your voices down." Shane tells everyone.

Everyone enters and Sophia cries when seeing another dead old person on the floor. Maya sobs and Josie hushed her, and rubs a consoling hand on her back.

"Put a sock in it!" Daryl hisses at the child, mainly at Sophia since Maya has quietened down. And Callie couldn't blame him, she could draw attention. Instant attention that they can't fight against. They have no energy, no food, hardly any gas. They were in shit.

"You leave her alone." Lori snaps at him as Carol tries calming Sophia but failing.

"You shut her up or I will."

"Hey." Amy snaps.

"Are we staying or are we going?" Lori asks and Rick and Callie look at each other.

"We don't have the fuel." Rick answers.

"We hunker down for the night, okay? Rick, you and me will sweep the base, we make sure we're alone." Callie tells him and he agrees.

Rick nods his head. "Yeah, you barricade those doors."

"Tabby stay with them. You have the other gun." Callie orders and she nods.

Carol was still quieting down Sophia.

"Keep it down, just in case there are walkers inside." Callie warns Carol who gives her an angry look in return.

Josie is holding tight onto Maya, who is looking terrified but staying quiet, Connor is very quiet, but he's looking at the bodies, shocked. Amy is looking nervous.

Rick, herself, Daryl, Shane, and Jeremy all go out to search the building. Making sure that they are not going to be ambushed by walkers in the night. Again. They enter the main room. Where the guy had the asthma attack. Callie notes. If felt forever ago since she's been here, but it was less than a week ago. She sees all the dead bodies on the floor and all the flies buzzing around them. They weren't bit, from what Callie could tell. Otherwise there would be walkers inside. There are none. She noticed the curtain drawn and finds it suspicious, that was open the last time she was here.

"I'll check back there." Callie tells them and they nod. She peels back the curtain and walks inside, when something crashes on her head. "Fuck!" She curses.

"Callie!" Rick hisses and the men hurry towards her.

Callie stumbles to her feet, unsheathing her machete and swinging it around to a kid, no more than 17 years old, staring at her. She stares at the girl wide eyed, the machete just a mere inches away from her neck. To her horror she realised she almost killed a kid, almost cut her head off.

The girl throws her hands up in the air. "Please don't hurt me." She cries, her whole body shaking. Callie swallows hard but keeps the machete in place.

The curtain is peeled back, revealing Shane, Rick, Jeremy and Daryl all weapons raised at the girl. Jeremy looks at Callie in concern.

"Who are you?" Rick asks, eyes narrowed and weapon still drawn. He doesn't trust this girl. Callie could've died and it would have been his fault for not checking thoroughly.

"Summer Mellis. I've- I've been here for an- an hour. Found everyone dead. I came here looking for supplies." She explains, arms still in the air. She was shaking like a leaf.

Callie lowers her weapon, and winces from the pain on her head.

"What happened?" Shane asks, looking at her in concern.

"Vase." Callie answers and Jeremy almost laughs.

"Okay. What are we gonna do with her?" Jeremy asks, like the girl isn't there. She had no way in this matter. It was between the group.

"Take her near the others, but keep your gun on her." Rick orders Jeremy who nods his head at the girl to move.

Jeremy and Summer leave the area and the three men look at her in concern.

"You okay?"

"Yeah. I'm- I'm just shocked I almost killed the girl." Callie tells them and they nod in understanding.

After sweeping the whole building, it was clear, apart from Summer. They meet the others in the main hall. Jeremy is still near Summer, his gun ready just in case. The group were giving her suspicious looks, they don't trust her at all.

"Upstairs is our best bet." Rick tells them, and they nod. "We've cleared a few rooms, we can barricade those if we have to." He explains to them. "We'll be all right."

"Do you mean it this time or are you lying to us like all the times before?" Carol glares at Rick.

"That's unfair. And no help at all." Lori tells the woman off.

"We didn't know Jenner was insane. Maybe if you can provide a better solution instead of pointing a blaming finger we'd be good." Callie snaps at the woman who flinches back.

"What the hell happened?" Glenn breathes out, thankfully changing the subject before Callie bit into Carol again. That woman was no help at all. She just complains and points a blaming figure specifically at Rick when things go wrong.

Andrea looks around. "What do you think? They got overrun." Daryl scoffs at that and Andrea glares at him. "Something to say?" She cockily challenges him.

"Yeah. How about observant?" Daryl retorts.

"Observant. Big word from a guy like you. Three whole syllables." Andrea insults him.

"Hey, there's no need for that." Tabby tells the woman off.

"Walkers didn't do this. Geeks didn't show up till all this went down. Somebody attacked this place, killed all these people, took whatever they wanted. They were all shot in the head, execution-style. You're worried about walkers, I'd be much more worried about the people who came and did all this." The group stays silent at that, because Daryl was right. "Get a dictionary. Look it up. Observant." Andrea looks away sheepish.

"We need to be careful who we let in the group." Amy points out and they all look at the new face at that. Summer cowers away from the attention. She doesn't seem like a threat to Callie.

"We need to decide." Rick says and they walk into a different room. Rick, Shane, Callie, Dale and Lori.

"What do we do about her?" Shane asks.

Dale looks at him. "What do you mean? She looks harmless enough."

"Except my head disagrees. But we could take her weapons. And have someone keep an eye on her tonight." Callie says and they nod in agreement.

"Think that's the best option?" Rick asks her.

"Yeah. It's our only option. We can't exactly leave her here." Callie points out and he nods his head. They all go to walk out. "Hey, Rick." She calls and he looks back at her. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" She asks and sees everyone still standing there. "Alone." She adds.

"Sure." He agrees and everyone walks out. Lori gives her a weird look when she left.

Callie quickly makes sure everyone is out of ear shot and she can't hear them before closing the door. "Look, Jenner told me something at the CDC. Something big."

He looks at her concerned. "When he shook your hand?"

"Yeah." Callie mutters and purses her lips. "He told me... he told me that we're all infected."

Rick stays silent. Staring at her. He opens his mouth before closing it again. He looks puzzled before finally. "What?"

"I know it's crazy. But he said that no matter how we die, we all turn. We all come back. I know it's an unreliable source but he said that he worked it out from our blood. Well he worked it out before but he confirmed it with our blood." Callie explains to him and he sighs.

"It's insane, is what it is." Rick mutters and Callie nods in agreement. "What do you think we should do?"

"Not tell anyone." Callie answers immediately. "I know how it sounds but... you saw how everyone was when Jenner said there was nothing left. Jacqui committed suicide and Andrea almost did."

"I agree with you." Rick says and Callie looks at him surprised. "I wasn't going to tell anyone but I wanted your opinion on it. We won't tell anyone, alright? We'll keep it to ourselves. For now."

"For now." Callie confirms.

The group was huddling nearest to the windows, Shane was currently searching the cafeteria for food. Or anything that is left.

Summer approaches Callie who tenses up. "Hey, I've got a few cans of food, won't be much for a big group, but it'll be enough for the kids and the pregnant lady."

Rick and Callie look at each other before her. "Thank you." Rick tells her.

"We appreciate it." Callie adds onto it.

"I'm also sorry, about the vase. I thought you were a dead one." Summer explains to her and she smiles.

"It's okay. It's just I'm going to have a headache for a week." Callie jokes and Summer smiles sheepishly at her.

Shane walks into the room. "I ransacked the kitchen. Only found is the one can."

"They hit the dispensary too, took the door off its hinges, took everything except this." Rick hands over a packet of candy, Callie can't see what it is.

"Luckily, Summer gave us some of her food." Callie tells Shane who raises a brow. That's when Summer hands over two cans.

"It's not much but." Summer mutters, trailing off.

They look at the two cans of pineapples. Better than nothing.

"Thank you." Shane smiles at the young girl.

"So came back for cough drops and garbanzo beans, with slices of pineapple." Daryl looks at the options with a raised brow.

"Is there any water?" Sophia asks.

"Mom." Maya hands over some pineapple to Josie who grabs a ring.

"Just the one bottle I brought. Just a few sips, okay? Make it last." Shane instructs when handing the bottle over to Carol.

"There's some more food in my bag. It was all I could get from the CDC." Josie tells Shane, who quickly grabs the bag.

He opens it and finds a couple of cans of beans, one chilli, and a can of tomatoes, as well as two packets of rice.

Everyone smiles at the sight of the food.

"We can eat this cold." Shane grins and everyone silently cheers at the pregnant woman.

"When did you get this?" Rick asks Josie.

"When everyone was locked in the room, I quickly went into the cafeteria and grabbed a few items, not much but enough to get us out." Josie explains and Rick smiles at her.

"Thank you." Glenn starts sharing out the cold chilli and rice on paper plates. The pineapple was being shared between everyone as a little treat.

"Does she like pineapple?" Lori jokes when Maya grabs some more.

Josie laughs lightly. "Yeah. It's her favourite. Same with watermelon. Both her and Connor love fruit bowls for school."

"I would kill for some fresh fruit right now." Shane moans and everyone laughs lowly at him.

"I could do with a Wendy's." Jeremy mutters and they all drool at the thought of a take out.

"What else you got in there?" Amy asks Shane.

Shane digs in his bag, pulls out a packet and shakes it with giddiness. "Funky snacks. See the CDC, I thought I'd be having midnight snacks in my air conditioned room."

"You're not the only one." Amy mutters darkly, she quickly grabs her bag and digs out some Sour Patch Kids, "I snuck these out of the cafeteria. Thought no one would notice since everyone was drunk off their a-" Amy pauses when looking at the kids. "Butts. We can share this."

"This is by far the weirdest dinner I've ever had." Glenn mutters, putting all the plates together.

"We're saving the tomatoes, right?" Glenn asks Rick and Callie.

"Yeah, we're saving them. We're gonna start looking for some supplies tomorrow before we head out of the city. So I'll need you to make a quick run." Callie instructs Glenn who nods in understanding.

"Sure. Alone?" Glenn asks.

Callie thinks about it for a moment before looking at Jeremy.

"I know a place." Summer voices and she looks at the girl.

"Tell him. You're not going with him. Jeremy will." Callie says and Jeremy nods.

"You got it."

Lori looks at Callie sceptically. "Wouldn't that be too dangerous right now?"

"Yeah. But we need the food. It'll be a quick run. Two hours. Tops. You'll leave before dawn." Callie informs the two guys and they nod.

Lori walks up to Rick and Callie. "What's next? We need to decide."

"Fort Benning." Shane offers and Rick nods.

"Our last option." Callie mutters. Plan C.

"I should've listened to you, Shane. We'll have saved us a lot of grief if I had." Rick apologises to the man. "Jacqui would still be alive."

"It's her choice, man. Do not take that on." Shane tells Rick. He was right, you can't shoulder that burden.

Lori puts her hand on Rick, comforting him. "It was her choice. It was her decision to make, not yours. No more than it was with Jim."

"All these people, who would do something like this. Just come in here and murder everybody even all the old people, I mean, how sick is that?" Glenn mutters darkly.

"Is that something we need to discuss right now?" Lori asks him harshly and Callie looks to Carol coddling Sophia. Josie, holding Maya who looks scared.

"Get some sleep." Rick strokes Carl's hair.

Rick, Shane, Callie, Jeremy, and Daryl take Glenn outside.

"Hey, the kids in there are terrified and the women."

Glenn blushes. "Guys, I'm really sorry."

"We're all rattled and exhausted. No ones thinking clearly but we have to start, our lives depend on it." Rick encourages.

"You're damn right, we can't ever let our damn guard down again." Shane says and everyone is in agreement.

"He's right. We need to be prepared for anything like that. Josie was only able to get a few cans but in future, we need emergency supplies in each of the cars." Callie points out and Rick nods his head.

"Good idea." Shane compliments.

"We should leave some vehicles behind." Jeremy announces and they look at him. "If we siphon the left behind vehicles' gas, find some more, we would be able to get out of the city. It'll be a squeeze in the other vehicles, but we need to limit our vehicles." He explains.

"Great. While you and Glenn are out scavenging. T-Dog and Shane will siphon gas that we need, me and Callie will decide which vehicles to keep." Rick tells them and they nod in agreement.

"Alright. Plus we'll need someone on watch all the time. Not like at camp, at the fish fry. No one on watch. People died, maybe didn't need to." Shane mutters.

"It'll be shifts. Glenn and Jeremy are out since they'll be up sooner than the rest of us." Callie points out and Shane nods. "T, you'll be first bell. Then Daryl. And every night, it'll be switched up. Give everyone a chance of sleep."

Hope you like this chapter, a little slow but a new face! Summer giving her food for the group. I don't know why TWD deleted the scene when the Vatos camp was overrun, it'll show a lot more character development and story telling. It would have been amazing to see on screen. Not just digging through footage on DVDs and finding it.
