There won't be a PoV with Glenn and Jeremy. They won't find anything. Plus just siphoning vehicles, not exactly a good thing to write, but I wanted to include more of Callie's planning skills. Now we're on 2x01! Let's get started. Disclaimer we don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.
Callie's PoV
Callie walks up the roof where Rick is, she's ready to tell him that the group is ready to head off. She sees that he is at the edge of the roof top, holding the walkie.
"-The CDC was a dead end. I met a man there, a scientist. He told my friend something, he told her... it doesn't matter. What matters is we're moving on. Atlanta's done. We're gonna try for Fort Benning. We're facing a long hard journey, maybe even harder than I can imagine. But it can't be harder than our journey's been so far. Can it? 125 miles- that's what lies ahead. And I'm trying hard to not lose faith. I can't. If I do, the others... my family, my wife... my son. There's just a few of us now. So we've got to stick together, fight for each other, be willing to lay down our lives for each other if it comes to that. It's the only chance we got. Be careful out there, Morgan. I hope you and Duane are okay. Stay off the road. Keep moving. Keep your eyes open. I don't know, just- be safe. Maybe we'll see you in Fort Benning someday. Rick, signing off."
Callie sees Rick turn to her.
"We're ready to go. Glenn and Jeremy just got back and all the vehicles have been filled up with gas." Callie explains to him and he nods.
"Did they find anything?" Rick asks her.
"Not much. Just a couple of packet of chips, a couple of soda pops. Nothing else. They found a vending machine and that's what was left in it." Callie tells him and he nods.
"Gonna be a tight squeeze in the vehicles." Rick points out as they walk down the stairs.
"Yeah. Draw up a quick plan. To see who goes in which vehicle?" Callie asks him.
"Yeah, good idea. That way we'll know where everyone is."
The pair walk out and see everyone standing around, waiting for them. Jeremy and Shane are on watch, looking out for the group's safety.
The two walk past everyone and go to a hood of a car. Lori was looking at Callie disdainfully.
After placing everyone in designated vehicles they had a stable plan. That's when they quickly get in their vehicles silently and drive off. Leaving Atlanta behind.
Daryl on his bike, he'll be leading the group, scouting ahead. In Carol's Cherokee; it would be Rick, Lori, Carl, Carol and Sophia.
In the RV, there was everybody else; Josie, Maya and Connor, same with T-Dog, Jeremy, Andrea, Amy, Shane, Summer, Glenn, herself, and Dale.
Callie watches as Shane takes apart a gun. Looks simple enough. Amy was watching as well, from the floor, not being anywhere near her sister.
"Looks complicated." Andrea comments.
"The trick is getting all these pieces back together the same way." He gestures to the table in front of him, with the gun pieces laid on the table. "I could clean yours, show you how." Andrea hands over her gun. "Oh yeah. It's a sweet piece."
"It was a gift. From our father. He gave it to me just before Amy and I- and Aubrey took off on our road trip. He said three girls on their own should be able to defend themselves." Andrea explains to Shane.
"Smart man, your father. Look, it's a- it's a limited capacity. See? Only holds seven rounds." Shane shows the woman.
"Oh jeez." Dale mutters and Callie turns to him, looking outside the front. She sees the masses of vehicles, the over turned semi.
"Shit." Callie mutters.
"See a way through?" Dale asks Daryl, who rides his bike near the window. He nods his head.
Glenn looks at the map. "Uh, maybe we should just go back, there's an interstate bypass-
"We can't spare the fuel." Dale tells him.
Callie was looking at the vehicles, supplies, maybe we should stop? Can get lots of gas too, as well as clothes, food, medicine.
The RV clanks before a cloud of smoke erupts from the engine.
Dale grimaces and stops the RV. The group walks out of the RV, meeting up with Rick and the rest from the other car.
"I said it, didn't I say it? A thousand times. Dead in the water." Dale rambles.
"Problem, Dale?" Shane asks.
"Just a small matter of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no hope of-" Dale trails off and looks at his surroundings. "Okay, that was dumb."
"If you can't find a radiator hose here..." Shane mutters sarcastically.
"There's a whole bunch of stuff we can find." Daryl points out.
"Food, water, medicine, maybe some weapons, clothes. Fuel." Callie lists.
T-Dog carries a canister and a pipe. "I'll start siphoning fuel from these cars." T-Dog tells Callie who nods.
"This is a graveyard. I don't know how I feel about this." Lori says honestly and Callie looks at her.
"It's our only way to survive. We need this." Callie tells her and Lori looks down. "Right, T-Dog is gathering fuel, Lori, Carol, Amy, find some clothes, we need to start scavenging for winter." Callie looks at Daryl. "Rick, you're on watch, Dale you'll be on the RV, fixing this thing up, Glenn will help you. The rest will be finding supplies."
Shane looks at everyone. "You all know your jobs. Let's go."
Callie opens the trunk of a car, finding two suitcases inside. She grabs one out and looks inside, finding clothes and a first aid kit. Brilliant. Just what we need."Ed never let me wear nice things like this. Callie's right, we're gonna need clothes." Callie hears Carol say.
"I don't trust her." Lori mutters and Callie stays quiet.
"What do you mean?" Carol asks the woman.
Lori grabs some flashlights out of a car. "She's always around Rick. Making decisions like she's a leader when she's not. She's gonna get people killed."
"Look, I don't trust her as well, but she's made good decisions so far. Right now, she's okay." Carol justifies and Callie sighs.
"Why don't you both say that to her instead of gossiping?" Amy hisses at the women and they look at her surprised.
"What?" Lori asks her.
"Well, go say your piece. But you're both too chicken shit to say it. You like to gossip. If you want change, go tell her." Amy snaps before walking away.
Thank you.
"Lori, under the cars!" Rick hisses and Lori does so, by grabbing by Carol. "Carl, Sophia, get down now."
Amy grabs Sophia and hides underneath a car. Carl in the one next to them.
Callie slides under a car that gives her a view of the kids.
She hears groans and looks behind her and sees hundreds of feet. It was a while before it cleared and they all waited under the cars for stragglers.
She hears crying and looks up to Amy grabbing Sophia and hopping over the guard rail, with four walkers following. Fuck! She quickly slides out, jumping over the rail and tumbles down the hill.
She hears someone behind her, looking behind her quickly she sees Rick, and they both run after the two girls.
Josie's PoV
She helps Maya from under the car, and Connor comes from the one next to it.
"You guys were so brave." She compliments and kisses both of their heads.
They walk back to the others to see a crying Carol and Lori holding her, everyone was gathered by the rail.
"What's going on?" Josie asks them.
Shane approaches Josie. "Sophia and Amy ran off, Callie and Rick have gone after them."
Josie covers her mouth in shock. "What? Ran off?"
"Walkers were after them." Shane explains.
"I need some help." Daryl asks and they see him carrying a bloody T-Dog.
"Was he bit?" Tabby asks, running towards the pair.
"Nah. He cut himself." Daryl tells her, she nods her head and checks the wound.
"With what?" She asks and he shrugs.
"On a car." T-Dog answers and she nods.
"Ok, good to know." Tabby says and looks at Shane. "Do you still have that whiskey?" She asks him.
"Yeah. Not much." Shane says, catching on to what he says.
"Fantastic. Help me get him into the RV." Tabby orders and Shane and Daryl asks T-Dog inside.
Andrea walks out, bloody. "What happened?" Josie asks the woman.
"A- a walker got in the RV." She explains, her hands shaky, her eyes red.
"Okay. Andrea, Amy is missing." Josie tells her and Andrea goes pale. "Walkers went after Sophia and Amy and they ran off. But Callie and Rick have gone after them."
"Oh god." Andrea cries and Josie hugs her in support. This woman has gone through too much already, if she loses her sister, Josie doesn't know how she would react.
Daryl and Shane carry the dead body out of the RV, quickly tossing it aside.
Callie's PoV
Rick collides with Sophia who screams.
"Shh shh! Are you all right? Are you okay?" Rick asks her and Amy.
"I'm okay."
"Shoot them!" Sophia cries and reaches for Rick's gun.
Rick grabs her. "No. No! Those walkers on the road would hear it. Then it wouldn't be just four, it'd be hundreds. Come here. Come on."
Rick and Callie run with the two of them up to a stream.
"All right, just hold here. You stay there. Wait." Rick tells them and Rick jumps into the stream. He grabs a hold of her while Callie and Amy jump into the stream, Amy almost falling over. Callie knew then that Amy would have to stay with Sophia, while herself and Rick would draw them away.
"Come on, Sophia, you have to do exactly as I say. Right, I want you two to hide in there. Squeeze in tight. Me and Callie will draw them away from you.
"No no. Don't leave me." Sophia cries.
Amy looks at Rick wide eyed. "Are you serious?"
"Listen listen. They don't get tired. Me and Callie do. I can only deal with one at a time, the same with Callie. We won't be able to protect you. This is how we survive. If we don't make it back, run back to the Highway, back to the others straight the way we came. Keep the sun on your left shoulder."
The two crouch in far into the bush as far as they could. Callie looks at Rick and they give each other a nod.
"Come on!" Rick urges.
Callie splashes the water to get two walkers' attention. "Come on, morons!"
The two run in opposite directions, away from the others, away from Amy and Sophia.
Well we're leaving it there. Will both of the girls go missing and end up dead? Amy doesn't know how to defend herself and Sophia is a kid. Or will one of them survive? Or maybe both? Only I know mwahaha! Write down who you think will live and what you think of the chapter!
