Phew I'm terrified for the group, dealing with their first horde? But that horde was nothing compared to Alpha's.
Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.
Callie's PoV
After disposing of the two walkers, she goes back to the creek where they left Amy and Sophia, however when she goes back there is no one there.
She quickly searches the surroundings, whipping her head to see if they're nearby.
"Fuck!" She curses before heading back the way they came.Runningback. They were told to stay there. Until one of them came to get them. That's when she sees the pair just ahead. "Hey!" She hisses and they turn to her.
"Thank god." Amy grins.
"What the hell are you doing going off on your own?" Callie snaps.
"I know it was stupid. I thought we could get back on our own. It was a mistake. I'm sorry." Amy apologises and Callie sighs.
"No, I'm sorry. You had me worried." Callie admits to her and she nods.
A twig snaps and Callie grabs her machete and they hide behind a tree. Sophia starts making noises and Callie raises a finger to her lips, and Sophia quietens down.
Callie sees around 10 walkers and closes her eyes in frustration.
"Right. I've got to draw them away." Callie whispers to the girls.
"Really?" Amy asks her, worry in her eyes.
Callie grabs a knife from her belt and hands it to her. Only a small one. "Just in case anything happens."
A beat passes before she nods. "Be careful." Amy whispers.
Callie walks out and quickly moves to the side where the walkers snarl at the sudden noise. "Come on." Callie cockily says and walks away, the walkers following after her.
After leading them a distance away, she hears a twig snap behind her, she quickly looks behind her and sees one walker. "Shit." She curses, before swiping her machete into its head, cutting the top part off like a bottle cap.
She turns back around and brings it down into another's skull, imbedding it, she yanks it out. She goes for the next, stabbing it in the eye, quickly pulling it out. She twirls her machete and easily swipes the machete through the skull of the next one. She walks back a few steps and sees six more. Just six.
She clenches her jaw and stabs another through the temple, quick and easy. Five. She stabs the other in the eye. Four. She grabs her other machete out and stabs the two at the same time. Two. She stumbles into a tree from the exhaustion and the walker pins her onto it.
It snarls, biting, trying to bite into her neck. She quickly pushes it away and lifts her machete up and brings it down with a sickening crunch. One.
She twirls around and swings her machete into a walkers head. None.
Callie collapses on her knees from exhaustion. Time to go back. Callie struggles to get up and she quickly walks back to where she left Amy and Sophia. Stumbling along the way.
Tabby's PoV
She managed to wrap T-Dog's arm up the best she could. But without any needle or thread, she couldn't stitch him up. She needed actual antibiotics, not aspirin.
"Amy!" She hears Andrea cry and she quickly leaves T-Dog and looks outside to see the two girls embracing.
"I'm so sorry." Amy sobs, clutching onto her sister.
"Where's Sophia? Amy, where's Sophia?" Carol asks her.
"We got separated. But she could be with Callie. Callie had to draw walkers away from us." Amy admits and Carol sobs.
Shane takes Amy away. "How did you get separated?"
"There was a walker. I took it out. When I turned back around, she was gone." Amy explains and he nods his head.
Shane turns to Tabby. "How is he?"
"Not good. I need antibiotics to fight off any infection plus I need needle and thread to stitch him up." Tabby explains to him and he closes his eyes in frustration. He was clearly overwhelmed.
"Alright. Everyone, I need you to go find some medical supplies. Anything to help T-Dog." Shane orders. The only one that didn't move was Carol, who was staring out into the woods.
They hear footsteps and see Rick coming back with no one.
He sees everyone's faces, he smiles seeing Amy but doesn't see Sophia or Callie.
"She's not back?" He asks nervously and Carol starts to panic. "All right. Shane, get Daryl and Glenn. We're gonna go look." He orders and the man quickly gets the two and they set off back out to the woods.
Callie's PoV
She hears voices as she approached the main way back to the highway and she stops moving.
"No, better if you and Glenn get back to the Highway. People are gonna start panicking. Let them know we're on her trail doing everything we can. But most of all, keep everybody calm." She hears Rick say.
All of this for me? I'm a grown ass adult.
"I'll keep 'em busy scavenging cars. Think up a few other chores. I'll keep 'em occupied. Come on."
Callie steps out and they all raise their weapons at the sound of footsteps.
"I surrender." Callie jokes and they all look at her wide eyed.
"What happened?" Rick asks her, and Glenn points at her face.
"You're covered in blood." Glenn grimaces.
Callie sighs. "Walkers. Around ten of 'em. But they've been handled." She tells them and they look at her impressed. "The girls back?" They all look down. "What's going on?"
"Only Amy made it back. Sophia is still out there." Glenn explains and she looks around the woods, panicked.
"Fuck." She curses and look to Rick. "I'm coming with you."
"No, you're exhausted."
Callie glares at him. "She's out here because of me. I should have had her come with me, maybe she would be here right now."
"It's not your fault. Don't put that on you." Shane tells her honestly and she pulls a face, thinking differently.
"Come on. We're wasting time." Daryl says and walks away, in a different direction. Rick follows him and Callie tags along. While Shane and Glenn go back to the Highway.
They've been following Daryl for a while. She was no good with tracking because she was still learning. Daryl was the expert here, this was his expertise.
"Tracks are gone." Rick mutters.
"No, they're faint, but they ain't gone. She came through here." Daryl points out and Callie saw Rick look confused.
"How can you tell? I don't see anything. Dirt, grass-" Rick trails off.
Daryl interrupts him. "You want a lesson in tracking or you want to find that girl and get our ass off that interstate."
"It looks confusing at first. But once you've learned, it'll be easier." Callie tells Rick who nods gratefully at her.
"You know how to track?" Rick asks her.
"Not well. Daryl's been teaching me." Callie tells him.
Jeremy's PoV
"You worried about Callie?" Summer asks him and he looks surprised at the 17 year old girl.
"How did you know?" He asks her.
She shrugs. "I'm perceptive. Have to be nowadays."
"Yeah. She's like a sister to me. We grew up together." Jeremy vaguely tells her and she smiles.
Maya comes running up to Jeremy, holding some fishing wire. "Will this help T-Dog?"
He takes it from her and looks it over. Thin enough, clean enough. Maybe they could pour some alcohol over it to sterilise it, but it'll do. "Yeah. Come on." Jeremy holds her hand and they go to the RV, where Tabby was sitting on the steps of the entrance of. "Hey, will this do?" Jeremy asks her and hands it over to Tabby.
She looks at it wide eyed. "Yeah. This is great. It'll help him. Thank you."
"Thank Maya." Jeremy points to the young girl, who beams at the praise.
"Your mother is inside the RV." Tabby tells her and walks inside, and Maya jumps in the RV.
Carl is sulking all the way to the RV, holding a whole- a fucking arsenal?!
"Hey, Carl, where did you get that?" Jeremy asks the young boy, a bit worried. He's got a fucking arsenal.
"From this car. I got it myself. I was showing Shane but he's mad at me." Carl tells him. "My mom didn't want me to have a knife, so I thought Shane would tell her I could. But he told me to bring it to Dale."
Jeremy tenses at the thought of Lori being alone with Shane. Especially after what happened at the CDC. "Alright, give that to me, okay?" Carl hands it over.
"The emergency alert system has been activated. The office of Civil Defence has issued the following message: normal broadcasting and will cease immediately. This is a civil emergency."
Jeremy quickly runs over to the car, where Shane, Lori, Glenn, and Dale gather around.
"Is that a local signal?" Glenn asks.
Dale looks at the car wide eyed. "It's got to be within 50 miles of here."
"Avoid anyone infected at all costs. Remain calm. Help is on the way. The emergency alert system has been activated."
Shane switches off the radio. "Asshole." He mutters darkly. "Okay. Let's get back to work."
Jeremy glares at Shane and walks away, making sure Lori left before he did.
Callie's PoV
They hear leaves rustling and immediately crouch down. Callie sees the one walker, with blood coating its mouth. Shit.
Rick points at himself and Callie and one direction and pointing at Daryl and another. You go one way, we'll go another.
Rick whistle and the walker roars at the pair before an arrow pierces through its skull.
"Sophia!" Daryl shouts out.
Callie is looking at Rick, who is searching the walker's hands. "What are you looking for?"
"Skin under the fingernails." Rick informs them, and he pulls a face. "It fed recently. There's flesh caught in its teeth."
Callie closes her eyes. Please don't be dead.
"Yeah. What kind of flesh?" Daryl asks. Which is the question we all want answered.
"Only one way to know for sure." Rick states and rips open the walkers' shirt.
"Oh god." Callie mutters as she realises what was going to happen.
Daryl steps up. "Here, I'll do it. How many kills you skin and gut your life? Anyway, mine's sharper." Daryl grabs his hunting knife, and stabs into the walker. He grunts as he starts sawing the walker open.
Callie retches at the smell. Keep it together. It felt forever, just watching Daryl cut it open, and when it was open, there was just mush.
"Now comes the bad part." Daryl tells them, and reaches into the walker, pulling out its organs. He reaches inside, while Rick and Callie had trouble with the smell. "Yeah, hoss had a big meal not long ago. I feel it in there." He grabs something out, a sack of some sort. "Here's the gut bag."
"I got this." Rick says and cuts it open with his knife. They dug inside, flicking mush out onto the floor.
"This gross bastard had himself a woodchuck for lunch." Daryl says, throwing a tiny skull into the woods.
"At least we know."
"At least we know." Daryl repeats.
"Thank god that's over." Callie mutters in relief.
