Sorry about the cliffhanger in the last chapter. Let's get started shall we?

Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plot lines

Tabby's PoV

She exits the RV, stressed out to the max. T-Dog is injured, a blood infection growing worse by the minute. Now, Josie has collapsed due to heatstroke. What else could happen?

"Found some more batteries, a bottle of very trendy pink water, an excellent new machete, and I thought Glenn might like this guitar. Maybe he plays. No drugs. You?" Dale looks at the weak man next to him.

"Yeah, ibuprofen and these." He holds a packet of cough drops. "What are we doin'?"

"Pullin' supplies together." Dale responds with a frown on his face.

T-Dog shakes his head angrily. "No, I mean... What are we doin'? People off in the woods, they's looking for that poor girl and we're here. Why? 'Cause they think we're the weakest. What are you, 70?"

Dale gives him a look. "64." Dale corrects.

"Uh-huh... And I'm the only black guy. Realise how precarious that makes my situation? We got a pregnant lady and a child here, two burdens and a woman who can't defend herself."

Tabby just looks down. She couldn't argue.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Dale looks at him incredulously.

T-Dog stares him down. "I'm talking about two good-old-boy cowboy sheriffs and a redneck whose brother cut off his own hand because I dropped a key. Who in that scenario you think is gonna be first to get lynched?"

"T-Dog." Tabby warns him. He can't go saying things like that. No one is treating him horribly.

"You can't be serious. Am I- Hey! Am I missing something? Those cowboys have done alright by us. And if I'm not mistaken, that red neck went out of his way to save your ass-More than once." Dale tells him off.

"And don't forget about Andrea, killing her best friend. Callie killing Elijah."

Dale sighs. "They were already dead."

"Then Andrea wants to blow herself up. Yeah she's all there." T-Dog sneers.

Dale blinks. "She's havin' a tough time. What is wrong with you?"

T-Dog whips back around to Dale. "The whole world's having a tough time. Damn, man- Open your eyes." His voice raises. "Look where we are- Stuck in this mess here!"

Dale shushes him.

"Let's- let's just go. Let's just take the RV."

"T-Dog, we can't leave everyone." Tabby snaps at the man.

Dale shakes his head at the man. "You've gone off the deep end."

"I mean it, man. Why are we on the side of this road like live bait? Let's go, you, me, and the girls. Let's go before they get back."

Dale gets up and approaches T-Dog and feels his head. "Oh, my God!" He exclaims. "You're burnin' up. Give me that. Come on." T-Dog hands him the pills. "Here, take these. We've got to knock that fever down."

T-Dog takes the pills and Dale looks out worriedly to the woods.

"Where the hell are they?"

Jeremy's PoV

Jeremy is currently carrying a passed out Connor, his leg has a make shift splint with a couple of sticks and Amy ripped the sleeve of her long sleeve top to keep it together. It is working at the moment, but without the proper care he needs, his leg could get infected and he could die.

"How much farther?" Lori voices after looking worriedly at Connor.

"Not much... Maybe a hundred yards as the crow flies." Daryl responds.

"Too bad we're not crows." He heard Andrea moan before her voice faded out from going a little difference away from the group.

That's when he heard screaming and they look around the group.

"Andrea?" Lori calls out and they head in the direction of the screaming.

"No! No!" Andrea yells and Amy cries seeing her sister being cornered by a walker. The walker on top of her snarling, the only thing separating them is her legs.

A horse gallops to them, and the woman on top hits the walker in the face with a baseball bat.

"Lori? Lori Grimes? Whoa." She eases the horse to a stop and holsters her bat.

Amy helps Andrea up and they hug.

"I'm Lori." Lori wearily tells her.

The woman perks up at her. "Rick sent me- You've got to come now." She says urgently.

"What?"

"There's been an accident. Carl's been shot." Silence follows the woman and Jeremy worriedly looks at Daryl, who meets his eyes. Three people injured, one person missing. What the hell is going on? Is their luck running out?" He's still alive but you've gotta come now. Rick needs you- Just come!"

Lori shakes her bag off her shoulders and starts climbing on the horse.

"Whoa-whoa-whoa! We don't know this girl. You can't get on that horse." Daryl attempts to stop Lori but it doesn't work.

"Rick said you had others on the highway, that big traffic snarl?" The girl looks at each of us, her eyes lingering on Jeremy for a second with the bleeding boy in her arms.

"Uh-huh." Glenn nods and the girl looks at him.

"Back track to Fairborn Road. Two miles down is our farm. You'll see the mailbox-Name's Greene.Do you want me to take him? We have a doctor." The girl asks Jeremy.

He was in a predicament, but Josie would want him to get the help he needs.

"Can you squeeze him on?"

"I'll hold on to him. He can sit in between us." Lori says and they carefully adjust him onto the horse, with the help of Daryl.

They step away from the horse.

"Hi-yah!" The girl commands and kicks the horse into motion and they gallop away.

A growl breaks the silence and Daryl rolls his eyes.

"Shut up." Daryl snaps and kills the walker by shooting an arrow at it. Killing it instantly when the arrow pierces its skull.

They carry on walking, Jeremy thinking if he made the right decision of letting Lori take Connor back to the Greene farm. Did he? He had no idea.

Eventually the group made it back to the Highway, where there is only two people greeting them. Not all of them. What the hell happened here?

"What happened?" Dale asks them after seeing their faces.

"Carl was shot. Connor stood in a bear trap."

"Shot. What do ya mean shot?" Dale explodes. To be honest, that's all they knew anyway.

"Where is Connor now?" Tabby asks them worried.

"I don't know, Dale. I wasn't there. All I know is this chick rode out of nowhere like Zorro on a horse and took Lori." Glenn tells him.

Dale rounds to the next person. And that was Daryl. "And you let her?"

"Climb down out of my ass, old man. Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name and Carl's. They took Connor with them. They have a doctor there."

"I heard screams, was that you?" Dale looks at Andrea who just ignores him.

"She got attacked by a walker. It was a close call." Glenn informs him.

"Andrea, are you all right?" Dale asks her.

The woman just turns around, glares at Dale and walks inside the RV, slamming the door shut.

"Connor stood in a bear trap?"

"Yeah. We managed to make a makeshift splint but, they had a doctor and Jeremy made that call." Glenn explains and Dale nods his head, and his eyes fall to Jeremy who's top is more blood that cloth at this point.

"Son, are you alright?" He asks him and Jeremy shakes his head. He is not alright.

"I need to tell, Josie."

"I'll tell her. You can't go in looking like that." Daryl sternly says and Jeremy nods.

And Daryl walks into the RV, while the rest of the group watch on.

Daryl's POV

Daryl didn't know how to break it to the mother that one of her children is injured and could possibly die, and is in a strangers home getting treated.

"Daryl?" A woman croaks out and he sees the woman on the bed. "Did you find her?"

Daryl swallows hard and sits next to her. "No. It was getting late. But we'll find her tomorrow." He pauses and looks at Maya before deciding on telling her. "Uh... Connor was hurt."

"What?" Her eyes widen and she sits up quickly.

"Mom. Please." Maya cries.

"He stood in a bear trap. But he's with good people. They're gonna help him."

"You let him get taken? By strangers? Is he on his own?" The woman sternly asks. He felt like he was back with his mother all those years ago, when he did somethin' stupid and he's having a stern talking to.

"Lori's with 'im. Callie and the rest are there because Carl got shot."

Josie puts her hands to face in distress. "Oh my god, Carl." Her voice drops to a whisper. He doesn't know how to comfort her.

"Josie, he's safe. Callie and Rick will make sure of it." He promised her. Daryl knows that he can trust them. They went with him to find Merle. They didn't have to do it, they coulda left him there to die, but they're good people. Good leaders. He wouldn't admit it to them, but he'd follow them anywhere.

"Why did you leave him?" A small voice breaks the silence.

Daryl looks at Josie who nods her head at him. "He needed the medicine, kid. If we brought him back here, it woulda been worse for him." Daryl tells her honestly. She needed the whole truth.

"Then we'll go to him." Maya begins to stand and Daryl puts a hand on her shoulder.

"We will. Soon. But for now, you need to look after ya mom. She's sick. We're gonna talk about it now, okay?" He looks at the kid, who looks very conflicted and he didn't blame her. It was Merle that he went immediately back for. But he didn't have a choice to make at the time, he just had Merle. But this kid, has to decide on what's best for her mom and her brother.

"Okay." Maya sheepishly says and sulks in a corner.

Josie smiles at him. "Thank you."

Callie's POV

Her and Rick were looking out to the horizon, this place was peaceful. It feels... almost out of place.

She hears footsteps and sees Hershel approaching them.

"This place is beautiful." Rick comments and Hershel smiles.

"Been in my family 160 years."

"This place is peaceful." Callie adds and he nods his head.

"It's very serene. How untouched... you're lucky."

Hershel's smile falls at the word. "We weren't completely unscathed. We lost friends, neighbors. The epidemic took my wife, my stepson." He lists off and Callie purses her lips.

And there is was, the reality.

"I'm sorry." Rick apologised for bringing it up.

"My daughters were spared. I'm grateful to God for that. These people here, all we've got left is each other. Just hoping we can ride it out in peace till there's a cure."

Rick and Callie share a look. They have to burst his bubble.

Rick takes the reins and looks at Hershel. "We were at the CDC. It's- it's gone now. There is no cure."

We're all infected. That's what has been echoing in her head now ever since then. With the amount of people dying across the world, there will be no one left to find a cure.

"I don't believe that. When aids came along, everyone panicked. One boy in town came down with it, and some parents pulled their children from school, so they didn't have to sit in the same room." Hershel says.

"This is a bit different, Hershel." Callie says and he turns to her.

"That's what we always say, 'this one's different'."

Rick gives him a weird look. "Well, this one is."

"Mankind's been fightin' plagues from the start. We get our behinds kicked for a while, then, we bounce back. It's nature correcting herself, restoring some balance." Hershel says and the same thing echoes in her head, repeating itself like a mantra. This man has no idea.

"I wish I could believe that. I'm sorry." Rick says.

Callie sees something break through the tree line and sees a horse, the girl's back. Rick and Hershel approach the pair while she waits on the porch, she has no business there. The horse comes to a stop and Lori stumbles off the horse, Rick barely supporting her as they walk into the house. To Carl. She doesn't even want to think of what they're going through right now. A parent seeing their child injured.

She hears footsteps behind her. "I'm sorry about my dad."

Callie turns to Noa, who is looking sadly at her father. "Why's that? He's a good man."

"He's a fool. He doesn't understand the world out there."

Callie frowns at that. "It is scary."

"He called me a killer when I told him that I killed one of... one of them. I know that I've sinned. But it was the only way that I could be here. I was coming home from college when it happened, I had to put my best friend down. I still had the blood on me when I came home and told him what happened." Noa explains, a tear running down her face.

"I'm sorry about your friend. But it was at the start. Maybe he's gotten over it." Callie says hopefully to her, trying to cheer her up.

That's when Hershel and Maggie are helping another person down. "Noa, come help!" Hershel calls and that's when Callie sees the person.

CONNOR?!

I hope I did Daryl justice, he's a very complexed character to write, and I know that Daryl is very caring towards women with children as we've seen in this very chapter, but also in the show with Carol when she first lost Sophia. He always assured her that they will find her and that she'll be okay. So I wanted to portray that for a new character and build a relationship with someone else other than Carol and Callie. At least Connor is at the farm in safe hands.
