Chapter 66 Layover And Double Date
After flying for what seemed a long time, all twelve planes arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina to change planes before going to Asheville for the semi finals. One by one all twelve teams disembarked, but only six of those teams now remained.
Once everyone had disembarked, they all went to reclaim their baggage and separated briefly. Everyone except Tala and Luna and Oliver and Cordelia.
"So, Tala, seeing as we're laid over again, shall we go and have some food?"
"Good idea, Luna."
Tala and Luna linked hands and walked away to Pizza Express. However, neither of them took any notice of Oliver and Cordelia following them. Oliver and Cordelia had their arms round each other's waists as they walked.
"Tala, why are they following us?"
"They're coming to Pizza Express too, Luna."
"Did you invite them?"
"No."
"I didn't know they were a couple as well."
"They clearly are."
"How did they come together?"
"After their match by the sounds of things."
"Neither of us invited them."
Tala remembered when the Majestics and Mythic Blade clashed in Scotland, especially when Cordelia blew Oliver a kiss. He also recollected when Cordelia hugged Oliver as he defeated Luna.
As soon as the two couples reached Pizza Express, they went in and sat on separate tables.
"Shall we order?"
"Good idea, Luna."
Tala and Luna checked over the menu and asked for a single large Pollo Ad Forza pizza to share. At the same time, Oliver and Cordelia had also ordered a pizza of their own to share.
"So, Luna, how have you found the tournament?"
"I've loved it up until we were eliminated and my team are still spectating as well, who are you competing against next, Tala?"
"We're facing White Tiger X."
"How exciting, it's a shame my team never got to face them."
"Well, Luna, I'll tell you now, they are a tough team especially how they eliminated Frozen Fortitude."
"Yes, Anna didn't stand a chance."
"She put up a good fight but she didn't win though."
"She hasn't won any of her matches."
"That's a good point, I'm surprised she's still part of the team."
"Yes I know.
"Well, I guess it's because they still value her friendship more than anything because that's what a team's supposed to be."
"More than anything else though, I seriously think that there could well be some big eliminations."
"I know, Tala, Ivy had it won but Tyson literally pulled the rug on her."
From the table across from Tala and Luna, Oliver and Cordelia were conversing over the tournament and how Mr. Coupe was put in jail. They also discussed how the next battles could possibly play out.
"Now, that there are only six teams left in the tournament I wonder who'll be left standing."
"Yes, Cordelia, I wonder as well, I know my team will face Le Croix again."
"It was fun facing each other though."
"Yes, if anything we've actually become closer."
Both couples scrumped their pizza, neither took any notice of how fast time went. Soon, it was nearly time to go and board the planes. Tala and Oliver paid for their respective girlfriends and they all left.
Before long, they reached the departure lounges for the flights to Asheville. Tala and Luna embraced one another, as did Oliver and Cordelia.
Luna tearfully hugged Tala, Tala hugged her back. Oliver and Cordelia also hugged and Cordelia emotionally professed her love to Oliver.
"Tala, I'll see you on the other side, I'll be watching your battle."
"I'll see that White Tiger X are eliminated."
"You, make me proud, I love you, Tala."
The two couples hugged once more, they reluctantly parted company afterwards. Upon the announcement, all the teams gradually boarded the planes to Asheville. Both spectator and competitor alike were excited for the semi finals. As they planes roared away, Charlotte, North Carolina faded away as well.
