Happy New Year! Here's to 2023. I've been at home from uni the past few weeks, but been busy with Christmas and work. But hope you all had a lovely holiday! Here we go! Things are kicking off in stride. I'm watching the show again, it's my comfort show whenever I'm not okay or when I'm ill. So I watch it quite often.
Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.
Summer's POV
She had to get out of that kitchen, there was way too many people in there.
"Hey, you okay?" She hears Daisy ask her and she nods her head.
"Too many people in there. Guess I'm not used to it anymore." She admits to the girl who smiles warmly at her. "I wasn't originally with the group. They found me. Well, I kinda hit Callie in the head with a vase."
Daisy bursts out laughing. "No way!"
Summer giggles. "Yeah. It wasn't funny at the time but now looking back. It was like a cartoon."
They giggle and they walk away from the house and towards the RV where they see Andrea on watch, sitting on top of the RV with a sniper rifle on her lap.
"I get it. You've survived on your own for so long, now being around people is freaky." Daisy reads her like a book and it makes her cheeks warm. "It's the same with me too." She admits. "I lost my dad not long ago. It was all of us, together. I thought nothing will happen, but..." she trails off.
"It's what always happens." She finishes off for her.
"Walker! Walker!" Andrea shouts alarmed and everyone looks at her. Herself and Daisy run up to the RV where everyone else gathers. She squints into the distance and sees a lone figure at the tree line, barely visible.
"Just the one?" Rick asks her.
Andrea nods her head. "I bet I can nail it from here."
She sees Glenn and T-Dog picking up weapons.
"No, no, Andrea. Put the gun down." Rick snaps, clearly agitated that she is once again wanting to prove herself.
"You'd best let us handle this." Shane says determined, his button up shirt not done up so his torso is on display, and a baseball cap placed firmly on his freshly shaven head. His hand was gripping a pick axe.
Summer took a look at Rick and sees him getting aggravated.
"Shane, hold up. Hershel wants to deal with walkers." Rick tries to tell him but he wasn't listening.
He pulls a face. "What for, man? We got it covered." He walks straight past and towards the gate.
Rick curses before running to the RV, and hastily returning, the girls decide to follow, quickly grabbing a couple of knives. The one day Callie is not here and it all goes to shit.
Callie's POV
They trudged through the tree line, all covered in blood. They looked like someone out of a horror movie... well they were technically living in one. She couldn't believe that she couldn't save those girls from that fate, or the father watching. But she managed to see in the corner of her eye, a woman, watching the whole thing laughing, like it was an everyday comedy. She didn't notice it right off the bat, but it caught her attention as she ran away. But she would recognise that grin anywhere, and the hands on that shot gun.
That's when she notices Daryl, and the others pointing weapons at him.
"What is going on?" She calls out to them. Shane and the others make eye contact with her. Rick's eyes widen at the state of her.
"That's the third time you've pointed that thing to my head. You gonna pull the trigger or what?" Daryl cockily challenges Rick who lowers his gun. An amused look on his face.
But Daryl looks like a mess. He looks like he's been through hell and back, covered in blood.
That's when a gunshot rings out, and she sees Daryl collapse to the floor.
"No!" Her and Rick scream. Summer screams out and Daisy looks ready to vomit.
They all run to him.
Rick waves towards the RV. "No! No!"
Who was he signalling to?
Callie collapses next to Daryl and feels for a pulse. She finds one and breathes a sigh of relief.
"Oh my god!" Harriett curses.
"Is he dead?" Glenn asks panicked.
Callie shaking shakes her head. "No. No. He's alive."
They all breathe a sigh of relief. Harriett comforts her sister. T-Dog pats her shoulder.
Daryl startles awake. His hand reaches for his head.
"No, don't do that." Callie takes his hand, while Rick and Shane hoist him up.
"I was kidding." Daryl breathes out. Glenn looks like he's ready to laugh and Rick looks slightly amused before seriousness takes in.
Two figures start running towards them.
"Who shot that gun?" Callie asks, looking at Rick.
"Andrea." Rick says dryly.
She clenches her jaw but notices Daryl pass out.
"Oh my god! Oh my god, is he dead?" Andrea asks them when she catches up to them.
"Unconscious. You just grazed him." Rick tells her sternly. She guessed he was pissed off from his tone.
Glenn points at the unconscious man, that Rick and Shane were dragging. "But look at him. What the hell happened? He's wearing ears!" Glenn exclaims.
Rick looks ahead at the gate and notices Hershel, his eyes fall to Callie for a second before he tears it off from Daryl's neck. "Let's keep that to ourselves."
"Good idea." Callie mutters. "Did anyone tell you to shoot?" She shoots at Andrea who looks nervous and stays silent.
"She asked you a question." Jeremy says to the woman.
"No." Andrea mutters.
Callie grits her teeth. "Next time. Don't shoot. Don't do anything."
Andrea scoffs. "At least I did something. Not wandering around the woods in your state." She gestures to her and that's when everyone noticed the state of herself, Jeremy and Harriett.
"What the fuck happened to you?" Shane asks.
"Walkers." Callie tells him and he nods his head. But she stares at Andrea. "Don't do that again. You're not having a gun from now on, until you're trained."
"You can't be serious." Andrea moans.
Callie smirks. "Yeah. Until you can be trusted and not act like a child. And not shoot somebody. Again." She adds at the end.
Andrea clenches her jaw. "Fuck you."
Callie steps towards Andrea. A dark look in her eyes, one only Jeremy has seen. Jeremy looks ready to intervene. "You wanna repeat that?"
"You can't do anything. You just act tough. You don't do anything for this group, only boss people around. You're nothing." Andrea sneers. Callie smirks and tilts her head before punching her in the face.
"Callie!" Rick hisses.
Andrea looks back at her shocked and feels her nose, noticing blood dripping down. Glenn grabs Callie's arm. Callie clenched her jaw in agitation. The nerve of this bitch. She literally just shot Daryl and all she can say is how she saved the group.
"Don't." He hisses and Jeremy shakes his head at her.
"Guys!" T-Dog interrupts them. He holds up a doll. "Isn't this Sophia's?"
Callie looks at the doll worried. Where is she?
She watched Daryl point at the map as Hershel was stitching him up, Tabby was watching closely, clearly still learning new things or refreshing her memories.
"I found it washed up on the creek bed right there. She must have dropped it crossing there somewhere." Daryl suggests and they nod their heads. Rick looked thoughtful when following Daryl's instructions.
But she realised the location was 2 miles away from where she saw those men attack those girls. God, she hoped Sophia didn't run into them.
"Cuts the grid almost in half." Rick points out, giving Shane a dark look.
Callie frowns. What is that about?
"Yeah, you're welcome." Daryl scoffs.
Callie smiles at him. 'Thank you' she mouths to him. He starts to blush and looks away at the compliment.
"How's he looking?" Rick asks Hershel.
"I had no idea we'd be going through the antibiotics so quickly." Hershel says instead and Callie raises her brows at Rick who shrugs. "Any idea what happened to my horse?" He asks sternly.
"Yeah, the one who almost killed me? If it's smart, it left the country." Daryl mutters and Tabby snorts. Hershel gives her a look and she purses her lips.
"We call that one Nelly, as in nervous Nelly. I could have told you she'd throw you if you'd bothered to ask." He explains and turns to Rick and herself. "It's a wonder you people have survived this long."
"Clearly without horses." Callie jokes and Rick huffs a laugh. Hershel stares at her for a moment before going back to aid Daryl. Nice one, Callie. They leave the room and Tabby follows them.
Tabby looks at the pair in front of her. "I'll ease him a bit. I'm trying to take his mind off of the stress."
"Thank you." Rick smiles and she quickly goes back into the room. He turns to Lori who is looking worried. "He'll be alright." She sighs in relief.
"Will he be okay?" Maya runs up to Callie and she nods her head.
"He's fine. Grumpy about it." She jokes and Maya giggles before running off.
It falls silent for a moment before Shane sighs. "I hate to say it, but I'm with Hershel on this one. Can't keep going out there, not after this." He mutters.
Rick looks at him shocked. "You'd give up now? Daryl just risked his life to bring back the first hard evidence we've had."
"We'll find her, Shane." Callie tells him, determined.
Shane scoffs at the pair. "That is one way to see it. The way I see it, Daryl almost died today for a doll."
Rick clenches his jaw. "Yeah, I know how you see it."
"Rick, can I talk to you?" Callie looks at him and he nods before they leave Shane and Lori alone.
"What is it?" Rick asks as they walk around the farm. Just to have some alone time while they talk, so no one will over hear.
Should she tell him now? She looks at him in the eyes before deciding.
"What happened with Shane?" She blurts out instead and he sighs in frustration.
"He believes she's gone and that we should move on. That she's a lost cause, a cat in a tree in his words." Rick spits out and Callie almost growls in irritation.
"He's such a dick."
Rick laughs. "Yeah he is." He pauses and notices the look on her face. "Is there anything else?"
She sighs. "Yeah. Today, when me, Harriett, and Jeremy went out. We ran into a herd and led them away. But I found a group of guys and they were..." she pauses. "They were raping women. Around two miles away from where Daryl found Sophia's doll."
Rick stays silent for a moment. "You don't think?" He trails off, not wanting to finish the sentence.
"I hope not." She finishes and he nods his head.
"Thank you for telling me. There's something that I wanna ask you. I need someone to be my right hand. Someone to help me run things." Rick explains and she stays silent. "I need help to run things, and you're smart, you keep a level head and a good person. We can be joint leaders."
She purses her lips before nodding her head. "Okay. We'll run things together."
Well, that's the end of that chapter. But oooff Callie punching Andrea, that's how I felt when that happened. I'll be doing a nice friendly chapter soon, before shit hits the fan per usual. Anyway, let me know what you think of the chapter!
