Chapter 19 –

Screams filled the vehicle as the bullet shattered the glass, Erin struggled to control the vehicle, she could feel the heat from the bullet in her arm but that wasn't her main priority.

"Jack is everyone ok?"

"Yes."

"Keep your heads down, everything is going to be fine."

Now that she had control once again Erin pressed her foot down hard on the accelerator, knowing that they were not far from security gates.

"Ms Strauss you're hurt."

"I'm fine Henry, can you text Ms Garcia to get the guards to let us through please."

"Ok."

Henry's voice stammered a little but then Jack took his cell and quickly sent the message, both boys could see the blood seeping from Erin's body but they quickly sheltered Amy from everything, with Henry cradling her tight in his arms. The pain was immense but Erin pushed it far from her mind, glancing in the mirror but she could see no sign of anyone following them so she took a deep breath and concentrated on the road ahead.

Garcia had reluctantly left Kate sitting on the sofa in Dave's office, although the arrival of Alex had brought a slight smile to the young woman's face but now Garcia's concentration was fully on her monitors, even ignoring the fact that Emily and JJ were hovering close behind her. The sound of her cell reverberated around the room and the scream that left her mouth as she read the message caused a shiver to race down Emily's spine. Simultaneously Garcia changed her monitors to show the security cameras around Quantico as she handed her phone back to Emily who clasped it in her hands and looked at JJ.

"No!"

A high pitched scream left JJ's mouth as her hand flew up, quickly Emily wrapped an arm around her friend's waist while her eyes cast towards Garcia who was on the phone to the guards at the entrance.

"Aaron?"

"I'll phone him Jen, let's go down and meet them."

JJ nodded her head as Emily spoke before Garcia stood up and walked towards them.

"There are agents on their way to meet the car and escort them safely here."

JJ just nodded her head again, finding herself unable to speak before the three of them urgently made their way down to the entrance.

Somehow, using all of her inner strength, Erin kept the SUV going even after the three similar black SUV's pulled alongside her but with the three children in the back she was determined to keep going until they were safely inside FBI grounds. True to her word Garcia had alerted the guards and as they approached the barriers they immediately raised allowing Erin to drive right towards the front entrance before she finally stopped.

"Jack I want you to lead Henry and Amy inside, keep your heads down and don't stop until you are inside. Your mom will be there waiting for you."

"What about you Ms Strauss?"

"Please I'll be fine Jack."

Jack nodded his head as he opened the door, taking a hold of Amy's hand as the three of them exited the vehicle and hurried up the steps, their movement became quicker as they saw JJ running towards them. Quickly JJ scooped Amy up in her arms as the four of them got inside where Emily and Garcia hugged Jack and Henry.

"Are you all ok?"

Emily frowned as she looked at Jack.

"We're fine it's Ms Strauss that was shot!"

Emily gave Jack a quick, reassuring, hug before she moved him towards Garcia and made her way towards the entrance as she saw Erin heading in with an agent supporting her.

"Erin?"

"I'm fine Emily."

Emily put her arm around Erin and helped to sit down as an agent came running over with a first aid kit.

"Your arm Erin, you've been shot."

"The children?"

"Safe with JJ. You saved their lived by driving on, he was banking on you crashing."

Erin winced as the agent cut away her clothing and placed a bandage on her arm.

"We need to get you to a hospital ma'am."

"I need to fill the agents in on what happened."

"Go Erin, we'll all be here when you get back."

Erin brought her head up and looked at Emily who was looking over at JJ and Garcia as they took the children over to the elevator.

"Ok."

"Just make sure that you stay with her agent, this unsub has shot at a moving vehicle you need to be aware of all threats."

"Of course, come on ma'am we've got secure transport waiting outside."

Emily managed a small smile as she watched Erin walk away before she turned and jogged towards the elevator, catching up with JJ and Garcia.

Hotch pushed the elevator doors open before he sprinted through the bullpen and up towards his office, his heart pounding fast and the sensation failed the cease even when his eyes had focused in on JJ and the three children.

"Daddy!"

Amy screamed in delight as she jumped on JJ's lap and leapt into Hotch's arms, luckily he had prepared himself and cradled his daughter close to his body as he quickly looked at the older boys before turning his attention back to JJ.

"Is everyone ok?"

"We're fine dad Ms Strauss was amazing."

Hotch raised an eyebrow as Jack spoke, his grip not lessening on Amy as JJ spoke, her voice quiet.

"The unsub shot at the SUV, the bullet hit Erin in the arm but she managed to keep control and got the kids safely here."

An audible sigh of relief left Aaron's mouth as he shook his head.

"Thank god, how is she?"

"They've taken her to the hospital but she'll be ok."

Aaron nodded his head and looked out into the bullpen and saw the rest of the team anxiously looking up at his office.

"We need to get the kids settled and then we need to sort this mess out."

"Kate is next door in Dave's office, I'll go and see if she can stay with them."

Aaron nodded his head as he sat on the sofa and sat quietly with the three children while JJ went and sought out Kate.

He slapped the ground hard in frustration, he had been certain that the vehicle would crash and then he had hoped to take the children. He didn't care that he had failed in his mission, the buyer of his services was in jail, there wasn't going to be any consequences, anyway he was having far too much fun watching them squirm and panic. He was going to make them so scared and paranoid that they wouldn't know where he was going to hit and kill next.
