True to his word, Hiashi gave his daughter another bento only two days after he gave her the first, and once again she was making her way to Sasuke's apartment while fearing all the while what might happen this time.
Hinata was fully expecting to find the bento box she left before in the same position and with the food already gone bad, but to her surprise, the plastic box was placed closer to his door with no handkerchief in sight. She blinked, slowly kneeling to observe the bento. She left the other on the side and opened the box, finding it clean and with the handkerchief folded inside. She blinked again, before slowly turning to look at the closed door.
So… he ate it. And not only that, he even cleaned the bento and left it outside for whoever gave it to him to take back. Unexpected warmth grew in Hinata's chest, before it was replaced by a feeling of guilt. Maybe she shouldn't have run away. Maybe she should have done as her father told her and try a bit of conversation with him. Maybe it would really do him good. Hinata took in a deep breath, standing up and placing her index finger on the doorbell.
Only to pull away once again. It was inevitable, though. Hinata was shy by nature, and it was not something that could be so easily overcome. Pursing her lips, she activated her Byakugan despite knowing it was forbidden inside the village to look at his state, thinking that if he looked better than before she would definitely try to speak to him. However, those thoughts disappeared when she saw him again, in the same position as before, sprawled on the tatami of his apartment staring at the ceiling looking lost.
Hinata felt all her courage leaving her, and without allowing herself to think much about it, placed the new bento in the same place she put the last one, grabbed the newly cleaned box and rung the bell, running away immediately after. This time, she had barely made it to the corner when the door opened. Activating her Byakugan again, she saw Sasuke looking at the bento with a frown, before turning in her direction almost making her heart stop. Fortunately, he didn't try to search for the mysterious person that gave him the bento, and instead slowly knelt to take it before entering his apartment and closing the door behind him.
Hinata released a sigh, placing a hand on her chest to calm her erratic heart, before turning around and walking away, this time in a better mood than two days ago.
I promise they will start talking soon! Just give it a few more chapters!
