Hinata decided to cook the fried tomatoes as well as the onigiri.
While it was true she was a tad bit offended by Sasuke's unfavorable opinion of her food, it truly was no reason for her to quit. In fact, it only encouraged her more to get better. She also made Naruto's bento besides hers, thinking the blond would be a little more appreciative of her food. They hadn't talked again ever since that day, but Hinata was determined to change that.
For now though, only making the bento was enough. She still didn't feel confident enough to sit down with him and have a conversation.
Once everything was ready, she arranged the different bentos, being careful not to confuse hers and Naruto's onigiris with Sasuke's. Only hers and Naruto's bentos had her own food, while everything besides the tomatoes and onigiri in Sasuke's were made by the cooks. She closed each one and allowed herself a small smile.
The next day, the real challenge began.
Hinata figured that she could wait till the end of the day to give Sasuke his bento. She was sure Ko wouldn't mind stopping by the boy's apartment on their way home. It was Naruto she was worried about. Although she was sure it would be easy to find him alone unlike Sasuke, Hinata was still really nervous at the thought of talking to him again. Last time she had been high on both the encounter she shouldn't have witnessed and her mission, but now what other thing did she have to distract herself with?
Hinata was so immersed in her thoughts and anxiousness that it was only when the kid next to her elbowed her that she realized Iruka had been calling out to her.
"Y-Yes!" she practically screeched, wincing immediately after. A few others started snickering and that only caused her to feel more embarrassed.
"Hinata, please pay attention to class. Now, can you please read from the second paragraph in page twenty-seven?" Iruka said kindly. Hinata nodded, starting her reading that took a lot more than was supposed to because of how she stuttered every two words. When it was over Iruka thanked her and turned to the blackboard to write something. Hinata sat down, lowering her head as her face was burning.
She could still hear those closer to her laughing at her.
