Torah stared at the armored man in front of him.
They wore a dark green armor from head to toe. He ran his eyes over the flat, green surface of the armor the man wore, his eyes followed down, finding lighter patches across the man's chest and signs of battle scars on the arms, only deeper, and more brutal. His armor looked battered and worn out. It was obvious that this man had been fighting for quite some time, possibly years. There was no way that this man had come out unscathed and whole.
And yet, he still stood before them, staring at them with a stoic expression. Though when their eyes met, the look softened, the animosity fading away like smoke before a flame.
But the fire persisted; burning, hot and angry. He could see it in his face, see it in his stance as he straightened, his strange weapon falling to as near a relaxed position as he felt it could possibly be. And Torah would say that he was surprised, but he wasn't. Who is this man? Where did he come from? Could he be a Saiyan? No, even if he was, he didn't think he looked much like one. He's not wearing the kind of armor he and his teammates traditionally wore and to top it all off, he doesn't have a tail.
But one note couldn't be denied or ignored; he's extremely, undoubtedly, and terrifyingly strong. Torah had never seen anything even remotely close to what he saw earlier.
His speed, agility, power, ability, durability, everything seemed to match up perfectly with his appearance. Even though there was something about this man that was incredibly unsettling and disturbing. Something in his eyes, maybe the fire that raged inside of him, something in the way that he carried himself… something about it was absolutely, unquestionably, impossible to ignore.
It seemed almost instinctual. Like he's done it thousands of times before, he'd do it again without fail. It didn't take long before he broke the intense stare off, shifting his attention to the bulky Saiyan.
"Hey! You got cotton in your ears buddy?" Shugesh asked impatiently. "I said who the hell are you?"
"Leave him be Shugesh," Torah said, patting the back of Shugesh's back. "He just saved our lives. We owe him one at least."
"Yeah, and we should really save the introductions for later." Fasha cut in. "We need to head back to base. Warn Bardock of what's going on."
Torah turned to his tall companion, nodding in agreement. "Yes, you're right, Fasha. One of their ships shouldn't be too far from here, let's take those and fly back."
"Then let's go." Fasha replied, kicking off from the ground and into the air. Soaring quickly up high into the sky with ease, with Borgos and Shugesh following suit.
Torah turned his gaze towards the armored man once more, his lips slightly forming into a smile. "I really don't know who you are but… Thank you. For saving me, and my friend's life."
The armored man continued to stare impassively at him, showing no change in his blank narrowed gaze.
"You know, you should come with us. We could really use a hand in sending those sorry bastards packing… and maybe Frieza too." Torah added as he turned to the direction to where his comrades had flown off. Before he could kick off after them, a green blur zipped past him accompanied by a gust of wind.
Torah watched as the blur sped off into the distance, disappearing into the horizon. He blinked in surprise, taking a few moments to process what had just happened before chuckling softly under his breath.
"Damn," he murmured. "He's fast…"
He was the Emperor of the universe. None dared question his judgment or his command. He controlled his own imperial army and was feared for his ruthlessness and power. If he wanted something, he took it by force. In short, he was the most powerful individual alive. His name alone caused terror and dread to spread throughout his empire, causing many races to hide within their homes and seek protection under whatever roof they could find. That same terror and dread fueled his lustful desire to conquer the galaxies.
He brings his glass up to his lips. The sweet taste of wine flows into his mouth. A satisfied smirk graces his features.
'What a glorious day it is about to be…'
"Lord Frieza." Kikono entered the room.
The Emperor lifted his glass to his lips. "Yes."
Kikono bowed his head. "I've come to report that Regarding the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God, we've researched them extensively but they appear to be only myths." He straightened himself up and stared up at Frieza's back.
"Oh, wonderful. I expected as much." Frieza smirked. "But I can't afford the least bit of anxiety right now, so I had to be sure, not that they'd be a problem."
"So then, are you canceling the attack?" Kikono asked hesitantly. Frieza laughed as if the idea were ridiculous.
"You are hilarious. Not after I went through the trouble of assembling all these monkeys." Frieza wickedly smiles at Planet Vegeta. "This is a perfect plan to get rid of the Saiyans, planet and all." His eyes narrowed, his smirk grew. "Wouldn't you agree?"
Kikono blinked, taken aback by his words.
"But without the Saiyans, our fighting force will be drastically reduced, almost by half." Kikono countered hesitantly.
Frieza chuckled again, a dangerous glint in his eye. "My troops will still be able to get by. These barbarians pretend to be submissive, but they're dangerous. They could bare their fangs against us at any time." Frieza paused, smirking wickedly as he subconsciously turned his hover pod around starting forward. "They are, after all, a species completely comprised of warriors. It's always best to put a sleeping beast down before it can be awakened."
Exiting from the ship's roof, Frieza stares at Planet Vegeta with a gleeful grin plastered upon his face. Right finger raised up to his ear, charging a small bright ball of burning energy. The ball grew larger and larger until it formed a miniature sun that hung just beyond his fingertips. The giant burning orb expanded into a sphere hundreds of feet large. The heat radiated outward from Frieza's finger into the emptiness of space.
The fireball floated above Frieza, waiting for its master to give the command to burn. The Emperor laughed to himself, his laughter echoing through the emptiness of space, a sound so cold and evil that it could chill even the hearts of innocents. The flames began to flicker wildly in the void of space, eager to be set ablaze and consume everything in its path.
With a flick of his finger, Frieza sent the fireball hurtling toward his target, aiming directly at the planet.
The massive burning ball of energy slowly drew close to Planet Vegeta. It had been orbiting the planet for a good few minutes and was beginning to grow hot enough that the grass around it started turning brown as well as the vegetation in the area around it began wilting. The energy ball looked like a huge orange balloon that was expanding even more, filling the sky above the planet with its immense power.
Every single Saiyan watched the ball, eyes wide and fearful. They knew there was nothing to be done about the fact that this enormous, fiery ball would crash into their beloved homeland soon and destroy everything within its range.
All they could do was watch helplessly as the fireball continued on its journey towards them and eventually smashed itself against their home planet.
Well, not all of them stood and watched.
A low level warrior, a low class Saiyan stood afloat in the air.
His face had lost the usual look of fear and instead, was a firm, determined expression. He was holding one hand out, fingers curled into a fist. His other hand charged with blue energy ready to release an attack upon the approaching ball of fire.
Though he knew death was inevitable from a certain point forward, he still wasn't gonna go out without a fight. Even if it meant giving his life to save billions or millions or hundreds of millions others? Even Gine.
Bardock lets out a battle cry which reverberates throughout the battlefield. The power fled his hand. A massive beam of blue energy shoots up and blasts the incoming ball of fire. Hitting the base middle of its target, he increased his power as more and more blue energy shot out from him and towards the ball of fire, hoping this much alone will suffice to stop it from crashing.
In response, the burning energy only seemed to intensify and the ball became bigger and bigger, becoming larger than the very atmosphere which surrounded it. Soon, the massive ball of fire was so big, Bardock struggled to keep his balance.
Bardock grunted as he struggled to push it back but to no avail. The heat was getting intense and even he couldn't handle it. Inch by inch, the flames were reaching him, engulfing his arms, burning the skin off his exposed palms and finally, covering him completely.
With an anguished wail, Bardock closed his eyes and braced himself for what was sure to come next. However, before any final sound of pain could escape his lips, it never came. He heard nothing except an echoing boom.
Slowly opening his eyes, Bardock blinked as he looked around at his surroundings. What little remained of his armor lay scattered across the ground where he fell just moments before. Bardock quickly scrambled to his feet and looked around in all directions trying to determine what had occurred. As he did so he noticed something strange; the massive ball of energy… was gone.
In fact, nothing else remained of it either. It's as though it simply vanished into thin air.
Suddenly a heavy thud shook the ground. Bardock turned his head slightly to his left and saw a tall figure with their back facing him. A tall figure clad in armor.
"What…Who..?" Bardock murmured quietly to himself.
The armored man stared up at the ship far away in space, their hands balled into fists as a furious scowl filled their face behind their visor.
"Bardock!"
Bardock turned to his left and snapped up from his spot. He felt a smile spread across his face as he recognized the group defending. Gine, Fasha, Torah, Borgos, and Shugesh gathered up, landing by his side.
"Bardock! Are you alright?" Gine asked worriedly, placing one hand upon the warrior's chest and the other on his back.
Bardock nodded his head in affirmation, smiling. "Yes, yes. I'm fine," he replied reassuringly.
"We thought you died when Frieza's attack snatched you up!" Shugesh exclaimed happily while pointing to a crater where they all were standing.
Bardock returned his gaze to the armored man, staring at him with wonderment and confusion. Did he… stop Frieza's attack? But how? It was a power struggle when he tried to push it back and yet this stranger did it with ease. It was hard to believe such a simple thing was possible but seeing it right in front of his face, Bardock knew it was true.
Back in space, Frieza stared down at Planet Vegeta. His mind filled with one question to another, wondering irritatingly why his attack didn't collide with the planet's surface. Could one of those Saiyan monkeys be the cause of this? No. Nonsense. Frieza decided, shaking his head furiously in disbelief. There was absolutely no way that any of those Saiyan monkeys could have deflected that attack. Besides, if that were the case then there would be nothing left of it.
"Zarbon!" Frieza ordered.
"Lord Frieza?" Zarbon questioned, flying up to this side. Frieza took a deep breath.
"Take with you your troops and the Ginyu Force down to that planet. Find out what caused their demise to be halted. I want answers!"
Zarbon bowed his head respectfully. "Right away Lord Frieza."
Kicking off, Zarbon soared down towards the planet with his troops and the Ginyu Force following closely behind him. Once they drew closer, they landed ten meters away from the armored man, Bardock and his friends.
Zarbon's eyes darted from Bardock—to Gine, his team and the rest of the crowd of Saiyans that gathered up behind them. "Saiyans! it appears your impending death has been swayed and your doom has been halted!"
Gine's jaw clenched in anger as she glared hatefully at Zarbon, who was grinning smugly at the situation. "So Bardock was right… Frieza was planning to wipe us out!"
Shugesh clicked her tongue. "That bastard!"
Zarbon chuckled darkly. "Well, yes. But like I have established your death has been halted by some form of miracle; however, you're all going to be killed regardless of this turn of events." He crossed his arms. "But before that though, I'm curious. Which among you was the one that had the power to stop Lord Frieza's attack?" Zarbon said, looking pointedly at each individual, making sure to meet each eye.
His eyes landed on the armor man. At first, Zarbon almost jumped back in fright at the figure's narrowed eyes meeting him. He didn't know why but there was something about this stranger that made him feel uneasy. A sense of dread settled inside of him at the sight of these piercing eyes. For some reason, he found it difficult to speak, unable to find his voice.
When no one immediately responded, Zarbon once again smirked, masking away his fear. "You are being rather silent, aren't you?"
Silence was Zarbon's only response from the armored man who still glared at him from where he stood.
"Oh well," Zarbon said, his eyes glazed over slightly. "If you're not gonna talk, then we'll just have to force it out of you." He turns to his troops. "Men, bring him to me."
"Yes sir!" a few men shouted in unison, marching over to the armored man.
In the blink of an eye, the armored man disappeared from view, reappearing behind the Frieza soldiers in the same stance where he stood. Within seconds, blood spurted out of the mouths and noses of several of the soldiers and they crumpled to the floor, motionless.
Bardock, Gine, and his friends let out a gasp of surprise, his mouth hanging open in horror. This couldn't be real, was it? Surely there'd be some kind of trick here! He moved like a blur, his body moving fluidly.
Zarbon, as well as Ginyu and his teammates were equally shocked at what they witnessed. They watched in awe at how fast he'd move, how he seemingly had the ability to appear behind every soldier and cut them down in seconds, leaving them lifeless bodies on the ground. When one soldier managed to swing a Ki blade at him, he effortlessly moved out of its way.
Plunging his fist into the soldier's gut, he sent the poor boy flying backwards, killing him instantly with one blow. Without a second look, the armored man returned his narrowing gaze at Zarbon and the Ginyu Force.
"Oh man… something's definitely not right here." Jeice muttered aloud, grabbing the attention of his captain, his teammates, and Zarbon. Captain Ginyu raised a brow.
"What's the matter, Jeice?" Ginyu queried curiously.
Jeice shrugged. "It's just... he's fast, no doubt about it. But I took a reading on his battle power and it says that he's below one." He replied. The others stared at him confused before slowly turning their focus back to the armored man in front of them who was glaring at the five.
"A power level of zero, huh." Ginyu mumbled before turning to his men. "Even if that's true Jeice, it still doesn't explain how he's so fast and killed those soldiers quickly." He paused for a moment before continuing. "He also seems completely unfazed by our presence or power."
"Tch, he's probably just being cocky. He hasn't even seen what we can do!" Burter said confidently.
"I agree with Burter." Recoome turns to Captain Ginyu. "Captain, let me have a go with this tough guy. I can take him!"
Ginyu chuckled humorlessly. "Alright. But don't play too much with him Recoome. We need him alive so we can bring him to Lord Frieza."
"Understood!"
Recoome gets into a battle stance and stares determinedly at the armored man before them. The armored man simply stayed in his stance. His glare never faltered, his stare unrelenting as if it wanted to bore holes through Recoome. Recoome smirked wickedly at the sight.
Bright pink aura surrounds Recoome as he charges his power up. With a chuckle he announced his ultimate attack.
"Recoome Kick!" Recoome lunged forth, bringing his foot straight towards the armored man's chest.
Only for said foot to meet air.
Recoome blinked in surprise when the armored man once again vanished in thin air. Landing on his feet his head turned sharply around as he scanned the area around them. The other soldiers and Ginyu members did likewise.
"Where did he go this time?" Recoome asked quietly to himself.
Suddenly, he felt a tremendous force slam into his stomach causing him to double over. Looking down to see, Recoome finds the armored man below him. His fist dug into his abdomen, sending wave after waves of indescribable pain exploding throughout Recoome. He coughed out blood and fell to the ground with a thud. His eyes rolled to the back of his head as life fled from his body.
The armored man stood back up. His eyes darted to the shocked faces of both Zarbon and the few remaining Ginyu Force.
"Did…Did Recoome just lose?" Jeice questioned, disbelief written plainly across her face.
"No way! Recoome never loses to anyone, not even against Saiyans!" Burter exclaimed with an astonished expression.
"T-That does it. I'm getting out of here!" Guldo cried out as he bolted up to the sky. Ginyu was about to call him back but before he could, something boomed from behind him and Guldo's head exploded. Blood splattered all over the ground as everyone was left in utter silence.
All eyes slowly turned to the armored man who held a strange double barreled weapon as steam billowed from it.
Burter's teeth gritted at the sight of Guldo's blood and brains splattered across the ground before turning to the suited man.
"Alright! I'm done standing around!" Burter declared, charging towards the armored man.
Using the maximum of his power, Burter throws barrage after barrage of punches from all over the armored man's body. Each punch wash over the suited man's being with such intensity and speed that Bardock, Gine, his friends, and every Saiyan watching had a hard time keeping up.
Even Zarbon was having trouble seeing past all the blows and blasts raining down on him. But that wasn't what shocked them all the most. None of Burter's punches seemed to phase the armored man as though he were nothing more than paper to him. He neither dodged nor blocked every one of them, instead simply absorbing it, leaving little effect in his wake. Even when he got hit, it didn't seem to faze him, his form remained as solid as ever.
"This is insane.." Torah muttered under his breath as he watched the scene unfold. To think that one single person, someone who was obviously stronger than any of the others he's seen so far, could easily take every blow from someone like them. That he could withstand it without a single sign of weakness. It was terrifying to say the least.
"You can say that again; I mean, look at him! He's taking Burter's punches and kicks as if they're nothing!" Shugesh commented with wide eyes. Borgos nodded in agreement.
Bardock, Gine, and Fasha watched the scene in awe and amazement.
Bardock had to be honest with himself, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a bit terrified at the display of the armored man's strength. How was it possible for someone that strong to possibly hold back against someone like Burter, who'd beaten him time and time again? And though he felt a bit of fear, it didn't discriminate from the feeling of awe that came flooding through him.
Gine was afraid too. But not as much as she was in wonderment as she looked at the armored savior who saved them and Planet Vegeta's almost total destruction earlier. Hope swelled up inside her. Maybe, just maybe, there's a chance that the armored man would save them from Frieza.
Fasha was memorized at what she was seeing. This man, whoever he is, was certainly worthy of being an elite soldier who was trained for warfare and was highly skilled in combat. If she wasn't mistaken, this man must be at least three times stronger than Burter, with his speed at least two times higher. And yet he had a power level of zero.
She firmly believed just by looking at him that this man had no equal. He knew no fear, and even if he isn't a Saiyan, he has somewhat of a demeanor of the same caliber as theirs. Her eyes glistened in fascination. She couldn't wait until she got a go with this mysterious warrior.
"Ugh! Why aren't you going down?!" Burter growled angrily. Despite the fact that he'd been punching the armored man nonstop, the man was still standing and doing nothing but absorbing each and every one of his attacks. He was starting to get annoyed and honestly, that made him angrier.
Burter hadn't even noticed that his buddy Jeice and his Captain Ginyu had joined in. Throwing their own barrages of attacks at the man who simply stood unmoving, ignoring them and absorbing them all without a sound.
The armored man brought up his right hand. With one swipe he sents the three attackers flying backwards several meters away, landing on the ground in various locations around him. They groaned slightly as they regained their senses. Reaching for his back he pulls out another strange weaponry.
Everyone eyes the device up and down. Gine glances at it, back up to the armored man, flashing him a look of fear.
Raising the tool he shook it around. Fuel sloshes back and forth inside the small gas tank. flick the choke, and grab the pull cord. With a firm yank, the jagged teeth on the chain spin around, before coming to a stop. With another yank, smoke billows out the exhaust on the side as his pride and joy revs to life. The deafening sound of an enraged two-stroke engine echoed. Jamming down the trigger, the teeth on the blade arm rocket around in circles, flicking specs of dried blood and guts on the ground. Gine cringes at the sound and display, yet keeps her gaze locked on him.
The armored man set one foot forward and the other retreated backwards. Kicking off faster with his heel, he slams both feet into the ground creating a small crater, which is quickly followed by lunging forward with incredible speed. He reached towards Ginyu first and swung the tool's jagged teeth towards the side of his neck.
Ginyu had no time to react nor time to dodge. A gurgled scream erupts from his throat. His body goes limp, as his blood begins to pool on the floor beneath him. Burter and Jeice watch in horror as their captain's face turns pale, and his head cut from his shoulders.
Bardock watched the armored man jump backwards. Once again reaching for his back pulling out a weird metallic instrument aiming it at both Jeice and Burter, pelting them with every shot piercing through their armor into their flesh until said shot exploded leaving both of them into pieces.
He snapped his sights to Zarbon, much to Zarbon's fear and worry. The strange weapon he carried vanished in a flash, and was replaced with a cannon-like object. He slowly aims it at five of him then once it has charged to its fullest he takes the shot, firing off a missile that sails straight towards Zarbon.
He dodged just in time as the missile exploded mere centimeters from him. Zarbon's heart hammered in his chest and his legs shook with each passing second. Madness. Absolute madness! What even is he?
Suddenly, Zarbon felt something hard collide with the top of his head causing him to fall backwards onto his rear. It wasn't long before a sudden knee rushed to his abdomen causing exploding excruciating pain through his whole body. He lets out a pained moan as he clutches at his stomach.
A large amount of blood dripped from Zarbon's mouth, dripping down his chin and coating his armor. He tries to regain his balance only to find that every part of him was trembling in terror.
But his terror was short-lived. He felt something cold and metal pressed against his head and heard a pump cocked back, and his head exploded. Blood splattered to the ground. The armored man stood over his corpse, watching it drop to its back.
Silence eroded over the area. No one moved or made a single noise, their eyes fixed upon the armored man who stood atop the mound of broken bones, blood and gore.
After an eternity a voice broke through the silence.
"I hope you're satisfied."
Everyone and the armored man snapped up to attention. All, except the armored man, see a terrifyingly familiar figure sitting on a hover pod smiling wickedly down at them.
From above, Frieza has arrived.
A/N: Hey, it's me Goku! Whew, the Slayer arrived just in time before the planet could be destroyed. I gotta ask though, where the heck did those things he took out of his back came from? Does he have like a huge storage inside him or something? Man this is awesome! Frieza has arrived and now we'll get to see the both of them fight. I can't wait!
