Bardock's hands gripped the ship's steering wheel so hard his knuckles blanched as he tried to focus on his course, and only half heartedly noted that he wasn't sure how long he'd been sitting there, staring into space, but it must've been quite some time. The Saiyans were once again in danger by another threat—Gine was in danger.
"Hold on Gine." Bardock said quietly, closing his eyes. "We're coming."
He had to be quick. Bardock knew how monstrously strong both King Cold and Cooler is—they wouldn't hesitate if they decided to kill all the saiyans, including Gine. Sure, both Cold and Cooler aren't as strong as Frieza but they're still strong enough to overpower any of their subordinates.
They were close to the planet now. Bardock felt knots in his gut. He can see from his seat big lights flashing in front of him, indicating that the battle had already begun. He swallowed the lump that formed at the back of his throat, hoping no one had died yet, but knowing full well that it was a very, very real possibility now.
Bardock steered the ship towards Planet Vegeta. Some of the towers the ship flew by were in flames, but most of them remained standing even though the city had been attacked. There was also a great amount of debris, pieces of broken buildings strewn across the ground. Giant ape size footprints stained said ground in various places, and Bardock deduced that those were likely where one of the saiyans transformed into a great ape.
Everyone except the Slayer blinked, spotting big and small figures from afar and flashes of light.
"Hold on everyone, I'm gonna land this thing." Bardock warned before taking a sharp turn, aiming for the landing zone closest to the battle. As expected the landing was rough. The members in the ship clenched the arms of their seat as the ship stuttered to a halt on the ground, and unbuckled themselves quickly. Getting to their feet they start towards the platform that was the entrance to the ship.
With Bardock taking the lead, they all descended to the platform. The Slayer jumped onto the ground and looked up. Waves of energy shot through the air towards where the Slayer could see from behind the towers. His eyes turned away from the battle when they landed upon a sign next to a building:
Saiya Lab, Area 1
The Slayer starts towards the building. Bardock and his teammates notice his sudden change of direction.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Shugesh called out. The Slayer kept walking, ignoring his calls.
Fasha looked up at the far-away battle behind the towers, pulling away from the battle her gaze lands on the armored warrior's back then turned to Bardock.
"You guys go on ahead. We'll catch up." Fasha told Bardock and her teammates. They nodded in understanding and kicked off into the air towards the fight, which seemed more intense now judging by the lights flashing in every corner of the sky, and the occasional explosions.
Fasha runs after the Slayer, following closely at his side as they entered the building. Walking down the hallway they stopped at two doors that slid open as soon as they approached. Both of them entered, the door sliding shut behind them.
Inside was a big room. Tools splayed on each table scattered around. The Slayer walked over to one of them, picked up a blueprint and mentally commanded his armor to scan it. A large blue hologram appeared in front of him, showing the schematics on the blueprint for the base's construction. A red circle circled one area that had a design sketched out.
The Slayer looked around the room, searching for something particular. Finally, his eyes landed on computers all connected to a giant monitor. In front of it were keyboards and a few screens with colored lines and other markings. The Slayer walked towards the computers, his eyes darting between various different keys. When he found what he was looking for, he typed into the keyboard, "Computer interface detected, enter command."
The screen changed to show a list of different icons, with one being highlighted. It showed a schematic drawing of what looked like an intercom system. The image zoomed in on the screen, revealing two symbols. both of them read:
Modify A.I.
Transfer new A.I chip.
Fasha watched quietly as the Slayer punch one or two buttons at random, his expression unchanging. Eventually a small red chip popped out of a slot next to the keyboard. The Slayer grabbed it then threw it to the side with such force that it went bouncing off the wall with a clang. Right arm reached for the subspace of his back armor, and a moment later a familiar shape appeared. A small black chip rose up out of the armor, followed by a hand clutching at the chip with care.
Fasha stared at said chip in his hand, and then at the Slayer. "What're you doing?" She asked. The Slayer didn't answer her.
Instead, he placed the chip into the slot. The slot closed up and the screen turned blank. Fasha and Slayer watched as the screen came to life by itself and played a jingle as a circular symbol appeared on the screen.
"Vega backup systems restored. Re-routing vocal interface through the computer's audio-link. Current operating capacity is limited to 5% due to processor restrictions."
Fasha was somewhat startled by the voice that emanated from the screen.
"Attempting uplink with UAC orbital communications... Unavailable. Attempting uplink with local short-range communications... Unavailable. Attempting uplink with wide-spectrum data systems... Unavailable."
Fasha blinked in bewilderment. "Vega? UAC?" She murmured to herself. That sounded like a very strange acronym. She looked up to the Slayer who stared at the screen silently, seemingly transfixed by the display, but his face was still set in a glare.
"Boot-up sequence complete. Will maintain connection with localized systems until link with UAC is re-established... Hello. I am Vega."
Fasha blinked again with a blank expression. The Slayer still hadn't moved.
"Judging from my perspective, I believe you're already familiar with the individual next to you who is referred to as the Slayer. One that our archives have yet to determine a more accurate name from the relics that were excavated with his tomb."
Fasha raised a brow. "Uh… yeah." She answered slowly, unsure what the AI was going on about.
"That's good." Vega said. He paused. "Hello. It is good to be able to communicate with you again. I must thank you for creating a copy of my AI. I am currently running off the power system within this computer after you uploaded me into it via the backup chip you prepared before you detonated my core."
Though the Slayer didn't show it, he was happy to hear Vega's voice again. It was also a relief to see that he was still amongst the living, even though he was just an artificial intelligence. He trusted him more than Samuel Hayden and it was good to know that he wouldn't be going through this strange world on his own.
"After viewing the footage of your recent arrival to this world, It is to my confirmation that this is an alternate dimension completely separate from our own. And from the data I gathered from your scouter, your name is Fasha right?" Vega asked.
Fasha's brows furrowed slightly, not expecting this A.i to know her name. However, she answered anyway. "Yes. What about it? You don't usually ask people's names when asking about their information."
"That's true. I apologize. I didn't mean to offend you by asking that question, I am programmed to gather information and from what I gathered from your Scouter. The information that has been stored in the files and is still being accessed from my database will be quite valuable and requires attention. Hence the reasons why I wanted to connect to this planet's tech to have access. Now I do have access to its information storage and control, I am attempting to run off the power system within the Slayer's Praetor Suit. Uploading myself into your HUD now."
Fasha and the Slayer heard another jingle and the circular symbol appeared on the Slayer's hud.
"Upload successful."
Fasha placed her hands on her hips and glanced up at the Slayer. "Well, now that you got your friend up and running, you ready to knock some heads?" She asked.
The Slayer quickly turned to face her. Slightly startling her a bit, he audibly cracked his knuckles and gave a brief nod.
"The Slayer will offer his aid once more."
A faint smirk played on Fasha's lips.
The ground below Bardock looked like it had been shattered in places from explosions. He was definitely over the battleground. The smell of burning metal filled his nostrils. Flames licked up towards the sky, threatening to consume everything that stood in their path. The sun shone bright down on them, making everything look brighter than it actually was.
Bardock quickly looked straight ahead, spotting figures and flashes of light. He and his team dive bombed, their speed picking up.
Soon, he was able to make out the opponent the giant ape was fighting. His chest and muscle-mass have expanded greatly, to a degree. His white carapace also changed, with the breast-plates shoulder pads becoming hoop-like in shape, becoming something like white "handles", while the white carapaces on his wrists change drastically, gaining dark-blue sections and developing blade-like protrusions. The tip of his tail gains a white pointed stinger-like carapace as well. However, the most distinguishing characteristic in this form is, perhaps, the change in the carapace on his head, which in this form completely encases his entire head except for his eyes, his mouth being covered behind something reminiscent of a visor, four spikes extend from his cranium and there is a large dark-blue section in the middle of his head.
Just as Bardock gathered all this, he stopped dead in his tracks, the rest of the squad halted beside him. They watched as Cooler slammed a fist into the giant ape, sending them flying upward. Bardock and his team rushed forward and floated close to the giant apes head. Bardock's eyes darted to the ape's familiar torn jumpsuit. The giant's torso was covered with several puncture wounds, blood dripped down his arms.
He glanced up at the battle above. Cooler was now hovering in the air, crossing his arms.
Bardock looked down at the giant ape. "Hey, Kolard! You alright?"
Kolard breathed heavily, blood dripping from the corner of his lips. Bardock watched as his red filled eyes slowly opened and gazed upon the faces of Bardock and his teammates. He spoke slowly.
"Y…yeah…. I will survive. …I'm glad you made it here." Kolard said with a slight wheeze. His voice was deep and animalistic but he could make words. Bardock could tell Kolard was barely holding himself together. He knew how badly Kolard's body needed repairs, especially if those repairs required healing.
"Can you stand?" Bardock asked.
Kolard nodded weakly. He let out a groan as he slowly lifted himself up off the ground. "I hate to admit it, but I don't know how long I can keep myself in this form." He said between labored breaths.
Shugesh smirked. "That's alright big guy, you won't have to do much for long."
Kolard glances at Shugesh. "Really? I take it the Great Savior is here?" Kolard asked with a hint of hope in his voice.
"Yeah, Fasha is with him. But they should be on their way. I just hope they don't take too long with whatever it is they're doing." Bardock grumbled.
Cooler landed gracefully on the ground a few feet away from the group. "Well, won't you look at what we have here," he said with a deep laugh. "A helpless Saiyan ape being saved by his next band of soon to be corpses. How poetic."
"If that was meant as an insult or sarcasm I would say you need better taste in humor, Cooler." Bardock growled back. "But you're wrong about one thing. The only one who'll be the next corpse here is you, just like your brother."
Cooler scoffed in response and rolled his red eyes at Bardock's remark. "Oh please, spare me your righteous indignation. My brother only died because he allowed his arrogance and greed to cloud his judgment. You may be a warrior among warriors but against me however ..." Right hand raised in front of him, a ball of lavender energy gathering in it. "You are all simply pathetic."
Before Bardock could react, the ball of energy was sent hurtling towards Kolard.
His world slowed down as a dark green blur passed by in front of him. Said blur reached out and swatted the ball of energy out of the way as hurled towards a nearby wall. An enormous blast emanates from the impact and leaves a black crater behind the debris.
As soon as it dissipated, Bardock was greeted with the sight of the Slayer standing tall below Kolard's feet. Kolard was stunned while looking down at the Slayer, his expression shifting rapidly from shock, surprise and finally shock and awe.
Bardock smirked slightly. "Took you long enough." He said sarcastically. The Slayer ignored him and continued to stare down at Cooler, who was still floating in the air, with an unreadable look upon his face.
Kolard recovered from the shock and felt something progressively overcoming him. He knew his own body was spent. And even with the full moon out, (or fake moon that had faded earlier), once he lost enough energy, he reverted back to his normal form. And that's just what happened, the world growing larger around him as he shrank back down.
Just as he fell to his knees, Torah was there, grabbing him by the shoulders to support him and Fasha who had arrived stood beside him.
Cooler's eyes ran across the Slayer's body, noticing no dent or scratch on him. And the armor he wore looked ancient. Unlike any armor he had ever seen before.
"And who's this interloper?" Cooler spat. The Slayer remained stoic and unmoved.
"His name is Doom Slayer," Fasha said, stepping close to the Slayer's side, placing her hands on her hips. "He's the savior of Planet Vegeta, as well as the first warrior to kill Frieza effortlessly."
Cooler's eyes darted from Fasha to the Slayer. "So, you're the one who killed my brother, huh?"
Though Cooler could barely see where he stood, he could see the Slayer's eyes glaring daggers at him behind the visor of his helmet.
"Hmm, well I'm at least glad you finally showed up. Now that you're here we can get down to business." Cooler stalks towards Slayer. "You see, I have personal fury towards you Slayer. If you think you can still hold onto your privilege of living after killing my brother then you're sorely mistaken. Don't get me wrong, I never liked my brother. Honestly, I would've killed him myself if given the chance. However, no one disgraces our family and lives to tell about it!"
Right fist clenched quickly. A lavender aura surrounded the right fist as it glowed brightly. Cooler launched forward striking his gut in contact. The Slayer remained unfazed by Cooler's punch as he swiftly retaliated, punching Cooler straight in the stomach. He doubled over in pain, clutching his stomach as he coughed. His aura grew dimmer. He managed to stay upright but his legs started wobbling.
"Incredible," breathed Kolard.
"Haha! Alright!" Shugesh cried.
Cooler looked down at the Slayer, eyes narrowing. This…this pain. Such immense pain from one gut punch caused by this armored brute!
"I-Impossible! This is my greatest form, there's no way I should've taken this much damage!" Cooler yelled through clenched teeth. He stumbled back, still clutching his stomach, struggling to breathe.
Cooler's left foot slipped as he tried to regain balance. He lost control for just a moment as he crashed onto his back, the wind rushing out of him. After recovering he forced himself back on his feet.
"How…how dare you," he snarled angrily. "How dare you!"
Cooler jumped up again, his speed doubled that what it was before. Cooler's punch missed unfortunately, grazing the side of the Slayer's helmet. The Slayer tilted his head, dodging said punch and kicked Cooler squarely in the chest, sending him flying forward.
In the blink of an eye, the Slayer appeared behind Cooler. The Slayer spun around with such agility, his kick connecting hard with Cooler's back. Cooler howled in pain as he was sent flying upward. The Slayer reached behind his back through subspace, pulling out his rocket launcher, he brought the sights down and engaged the lock-on. The system took a moment to lock on all four. Then there was a faint beep, and the missiles went flying.
They sped towards Cooler at such great speeds that he didn't have time to react or dodge. They collided with him, causing a bright flash of light as they exploded. The smoke cleared revealing Cooler floating in midair, one hand clutching his stomach, and the other hung limply by his side. Blood oozed out of his armor. Parts of his armor were scorched black, some of it had been completely melted.
The Slayer looked up at Cooler, who was slowly drifting closer to the ground, eyes closed, breathing heavily.
"It appears that the missiles, though it hit its mark, didn't damage him enough to completely obliterate him." Vega said in the Slayer's helmet comlink. "Perhaps a different tactic will suffice."
Doom Slayer charges forth and both him and Cooler were locked into a heated brawl that trailed across the landscape. Everyone's eyes were actually having trouble keeping up. But the one struggling the most was Cooler. He barely dodged any of the Slayer's punches; his attempts were futile and all of them were met with either an uppercut or a kick. It seemed the Slayer wasn't done yet.
With an incredible amount of strength he grabbed ahold of Cooler's arm and threw him into the side of a building. Following up with a powerful roundhouse kick he struck the side of Cooler's jaw, sending him flying backwards towards another building.
Cooler's lungs burned, his arms quivered, blood leaked from numerous wounds covering his face, and the pain radiating from every single cell within him was unbearable. Yet somehow, his mind was too focused on something else.
That something else is the Slayer.
'This…this is all wrong. He can't be this strong! No..he mustn't be...'
He'd never felt pain like this. Not ever before. He's supposed to be the one dominating in this fight and this was the result! How could this be? How could this interloper's power eclipse his own? inconceivable…this was absolutely inconceivable!
Cooler clenched his fist and threw his arms back letting out a wild scream while disintegrating the building he was on in a huge explosion of energy. He and the Slayer locked back into battle, and the fight seemed to last for hours. Cooler even tried to tap into the maximum of his power to counterattack but he was unsuccessful. Every single blow, every punch, every strike Cooler threw at him was deflected back at him with ease, as though his opponent had anticipated every move, every attack before they'd come.
Cooler couldn't help but wonder how strong is this invader, and how he'd be able to defend against so many attacks. He had never fought against anyone like him. Ever. And he was starting to worry.
Finally, Cooler ripped away from the combat, hovering in the air high above them, panting, bloody, and obviously livid.
He let out a scream of rage, "Damn it! This can't be happening! I'm supposed to be the superior being! THE STRONGEST! And this interloper's power is eclipsing my own?! No! No! That's it!" He glared down at the Slayer who returned his stare unflinchingly. "Slayer! You've tested me quite enough!" he roared, blasting off into the sky again.
"Ugh, what the hell is he doing now?" Shugesh asked as he watched Cooler flying higher and higher in the sky.
Torah's eyes slowly widened. "Wait a minute…don't tell me he's going to..!"
Cooler raised his hand above his head, charging a bright ball of burning energy. Said ball grew bigger and bigger until it formed a miniature sun that hung just beyond his palm. The giant burning orb expanded into a sphere hundreds of feet large and the heat radiated outward from Cooler's hand into the sky.
"Now I will do what my brother failed to do. I will destroy this entire planet!"
A deafening roar erupted as he flung the fiery sphere towards them. Bardock and his teammates were about to fly towards it, to stop it from drawing close, only to be stopped in their tracks by Vega's voice in the Slayer's helmet.
"It's alright. The Slayer will handle this."
Both Torah and Bardock glance at each other briefly before turning back to watch the massive fireball hurling towards the Slayer.
With a flash of blue light, the weapon the Slayer had been holding vanished, and was replaced with a massive object almost the size of its wielder's torso. Taking careful aim, he waited for his weapon to lock on target before firing it, and a ball of crackling green energy shot from the end of the device. As it fazed through the ball of energy, disintegrating it completely and the ball struck Cooler with tendrils of green lightning, causing him to arch his back in horrified agony, an instant before the green sphere exploded.
Bardock could feel the force of the blast from where he stood, despite distance being a bit far, the brilliant green flash of the detonation blinding him and his teammates for a few seconds. When he could see again, he gaped in shock. . . nothing remained of Cooler, not even ash, now only the Slayer remained.
A/N: Hey it's me, Goku! Man, even with all that power not even Cooler could beat him?! Just goes to show how strong the big guy is hahaha. Looks like Cold is biting the dust too, and with the both of them gone Planet Vegeta is finally safe! But what happens now? Will he accept their offer by living among them? Or will he set off to the stars on his own?
