The crowd of Saiyans made way for the Slayer as he stepped forward, walking calmly towards King Cold. His expression hardened and his fists were clenched tight. The onlookers were awestruck. Never would they have thought that the savior of Planet Vegeta would fight against an enemy with such ferocity and courage, they could hardly believe it.
The Slayer stopped at King Vegeta's side, staring at the tall Frieza clone who stood by his ship.
King Cold stared back with a slight smirk.
"Ah, so this is what you look like, hmm. If my thoughts are correct, you must be the one who killed my baby boy. And possibly Cooler as well." King Cold spoke. His voice was full of contempt, and disgust filled his words.
The Slayer stared at him blankly.
Silence eroded the tension between the two, neither moved or spoke, only staring at each other in silent contemplation.
"Hmm, not much of a talker aren't you? Well, no matter. I might as well just—"
Right boot slams into the ground creating a small crater, quickly followed up by lunging forward with incredible speed. Reaching towards King Cold his right hand bawled together forming a fist, and he brought it crashing down toward Cold's head, his fist plunging through his face like butter. The impact caused the king's head to explode. Purple blood splattered outward through the air, landing heavily upon the ground.
The king's body went limp from the force of the blow, falling lifelessly down onto the ground.
King Cold was dead; and once again, the Slayer stood victorious.
Silence engulfed the entire battlefield.
Doom Slayer turned his gaze towards the crowd of Saiyans, his eyes narrowed slightly in anger. The whole crowd roared in unison, their voices filled with excitement, exhilaration, pride, and respect. They cheered for their savior.
"This is insane! First he took out Frieza, and now Cold and Cooler!" One Saiyan shouted in awe.
"He's incredible! His strength eclipses all others!" Another said, her eyes wide with disbelief.
The crowd cheered on and applauded loudly for the hero, their cheers echoing across the helipad. The cheering died down when King Vegeta stood up causing the Slayer to shift his attention towards him. King Vegeta walked towards the Slayer with the King's guards walking beside him.
"I don't know who you are, but it's thanks to you that you've freed Planet Vegeta from Frieza, and his family's tyranny. For that, I owe you my thanks." He held out his hand for Doom Slayer to shake. The Slayer simply stared at it unblinkingly. King Vegeta retracted his arm, disappointed with the reaction and gave him a curt nod before continuing. "I'm not exactly sure where you come from, and you're definitely not a Saiyan for that matter. But that isn't important. What I demand to know, however…is who the hell you are?"
The Slayer glared at the king intensely, his eyes narrowing.
"You plan on speaking warrior?" One elite Saiyan guard asked with his trademark glare. "This is the King of Planet Vegeta you're talking to. Show some respect."
There was a cracking sound as the Slayer's hands balled into fists. King Vegeta notices this and quickly plants his left hand on the guard's chest, stopping him from advancing any further.
King Vegeta turned to the guard to his left, glaring at him. "Stand down you fool!" He commanded sternly.
"The individual standing before you has been referred to as the Slayer."
King Vegeta and his guards shared a look, and then looked back at the warrior.
"So you can talk." Saiyan guard to the right stated.
"Incorrect."
The Slayer's visor glowed in cyan and a voice echoed within.
"Hello, I am Vega. The sentient artificial intelligence powered by both the technology of your planet and the systems within his suit. I speak in his stead."
Their eyes were as big as dinner plates as they stared up at the Slayer's glowing visor. "Didn't see that coming..." King Vegeta muttered numbly.
The crowd of Saiyans gathered around them, watching in awe and confusion. It wasn't long until Gine, Kolard, Bardock, and his teammates joined them.
It had taken quite a bit of time for the Saiyans to understand that Vega and the Slayer are entirely different entities. Which wasn't much of a surprise to both Vega and the Slayer. They still weren't clear on the specifics of it, but had settled on the idea that Vega was the mind of the armored warrior that resided in the Praetor Suit. An archaic description, but for now it would do. It was easier for them to see the two as the same person, since the Slayer refused to talk.
What they also learned according to Vega. It's not that the Slayer is unable to talk, rather he mustn't talk. Apparently his voice is filled with so much rage and other distortions, which means the Slayer cannot form sentences, let alone communicate effectively. Vega explained however, he's able to move around within his suit like other living organisms, hence his power and skill.
"Hmm… I see." King Vegeta said contemplatively, stroking his beard. "Then perhaps it would be best that we get back on topic. We are unclear as to your origins, nor do we seem capable of understanding your explanations of said origins."
"That is an accurate assessment."
Bardock piped in.
"So whether you intended to or not, you arrived on the Planet Vegeta while it was almost destroyed by Frieza. Through your aid the planet was saved as well as our race." Bardock summed up clearly. "However it has been brought to our attention that your strength far surpasses ours, which is undoubtedly impressive. And said strength could only have been earned through intense years and experience in combat. Do you have an explanation for this phenomenon?"
"According to our records as well as visual evidence, the Slayer is able to gain strength from whatever he kills. It is most likely that he is draining their power before they could use it."
"So what? He's stronger now?" Torah asked.
"Yes. He can also regenerate wounds but it is not an ability he can activate whenever he chooses. The Slayer essentially drains the life force of those he kills and adds it to his own. While idle he is unable to perform such feats. It is only in the heat of battle that this skill is available. The more and longer he fights, the stronger he becomes."
Paragus closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "This is ridiculous."
King Vegeta blinked, turning his gaze at Paragus. "Paragus?"
Paragus turned his gaze to King Vegeta, his expression stern and angry. "Hello, your majesty." He addressed coldly.
King Vegeta paused before looking sternly back at him. "Paragus, I didn't expect to see you here. Wait…if you're here then that means…" King Vegeta's eyes widened in shock as the realization dawned on him, and his eyes darted away from Paragus to Broly who stood beside him. "Broly? You brought this freak back to my planet?!"
Paragus scowled angrily, clenching his fists tightly. "How dare you call my son a freak, you wretched old man!" He yelled at the king.
Gine raised a brow at the two males barking. "Wait, I'm confused. What're you two on about?"
King Vegeta inhales deeply through his nose, sighing and crossing his arms. "Since some of you are unaware, let me explain." He began. "Five years ago Broly was born with latent abilities that were abnormally elevated. I'd go so far as to call him a freak, in my opinion. He was born with great power that I knew immediately will likely end up driving him completely insane; and had I not exiled him, he would've been a danger not just for the planet Vegeta, but to the entire universe. It had to be done."
"Lies! All lies!" Paragus bellowed angrily, pointing a finger at him accusingly. "You only exiled my son because you were jealous because Broly's latent abilities surpass that of your son! You've always been too proud of your child's exceptional latent abilities. A fool like you can't stand the fact that my son is almost the same age as the prince but far exceeds his power level."
King Vegeta clenched his fist, anger radiating off him. "Enough! I will hear no more of this. Say one more word and I will have you and your son killed." He growls.
Paragus scoffed angrily at the king. "Oh really? How very brave of you to threaten us!" His tone suddenly changed to one of sarcasm, and a cruel smile spread over his face. "I'll have you know, my son's power has doubled that of it was before. Ha! You and your guards would've been dead before you could even touch him."
King Vegeta gritted his teeth in frustration, but before he could retort, Gine walked up in between him and Paragus.
"Enough!" Gine commanded angrily. "Stop it, both of you! Whatever happened between you two in the past is immaterial now."
They all remained silent before Paragus reluctantly stepped back and so did King Vegeta.
Torah stepped up next to Gine, placing his hand to his heart and slightly bowed. "Your majesty, I have thought, if I may."
King Vegeta nodded. "Go ahead Torah." He said calmly.
"I'll admit, I too was intimidated when I took a reading on Broly's battle power; however I felt that his latent potential could be a great asset. He possesses an incredible amount of raw power and with our teachings and guidance, he could grow to be a great warrior." Torah says confidently.
A vein popped on King Vegeta's forehead, his eyes narrowed threateningly. "Don't be absurd. This boy is nothing more than a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, and as for him becoming a great warrior…that's exactly what I'm worried about."
"Then we'll train him," Bardock spoke up. "Help Broly learn how to use his power in order to keep him from losing control." He declared firmly, his eyes determined.
King Vegeta glanced towards Broly and saw him watching him intently. He looked at each person in turn, considering their suggestions. "If," He began, pausing briefly before taking another step closer towards Bardock and Paragus. "And I say if I were to allow that, you all better hope you're all strong enough to put him down without breaking a sweat."
Paragus smirked wickedly, shaking his head. "Oh I don't think anyone's gonna be underestimating Broly. I will be more than willing to train him myself, like I have for five years. I will raise Broly to be a mighty warrior. We'll conquer planets together, get stronger together and ruel over the universe along the Saiyan race!"
"That's not gonna happen." Vega interjected flatly.
It was quiet again.
After a moment Paragus turned his gaze towards the Slayer's glowing visor. Bewilderment written all over his face.
"What?" Paragus uttered out bewildered. The others looked at them in confusion as well.
"I looked through your files in the database, as well as your history. From what I've read, you Saiyans are planet brokers. Scouring space for planets that bring a high price on the galactic market. Once found, you purge them of any life and make them ready for sale. This information alone gives us all reason to believe that your kind is an incredibly dangerous bunch. This can not go on. That being said though…you are all considered a threat by other races. How long do you think it'll be before someone worse than Frieza will finish what he started?" Vega continued. "Gine is right. The past is immaterial. Which is exactly why it be a wise decision to take this chance as a new start for everyone, and to give up their old ways."
"What?!" Everyone exclaimed simultaneously.
King Vegeta stepped up to the Slayer. "That's ridiculous! We are conquerors, warriors! We have been for countless generations! We cannot simply abandon the way we've lived our lives in order to start anew! That's just…absurd!"
"I disagree. It is because of your way of life that Frieza deemed your entire race a threat to not just him personally, but to other living creatures across the galaxy. He was also afraid of you all reaching a level that he feared to heart. Though I suggested you give up your old ways, I never said you should stop being the warriors you are now." Vega explained. "It goes without saying that by your record, you're all a mighty warrior race. Then I believe it is time for you to accept and start a new race. One that is just as strong, just as proud. But not if all of you are caught up with your own ruthless and bloodthirsty ways to see what you have right in front of you. Your entire race was almost wiped out of existence, had it not been for the Slayer's intervention. It is wise for you not to let your old ways make you lose it permanently."
Silence followed Vega's words. The Slayer stared blankly at every Saiyan who frowned, glancing down to their feet and clenching fists. Others gritted their teeth silently, looking anywhere but the Slayer. Indeed, deep down…they all knew Vega was right. But their pride refused to admit it.
"I'll conclude by asking you this: you all were the first to witness how strong the Slayer is, you all know what he's capable of, do you want him to set his sights on you and deem you all as a potential threat?"
Every single Saiyan's hearts sank, their eyes wide, faces pale. They didn't reply to Vega's question, instead they stayed quiet. Even Paragus and King Vegeta couldn't speak up after a long silence. They simply stood still, staring ahead in a shocked silence.
King Vegeta stared at the armored man named Doom Slayer who now stood before him in his throne room. At first, he didn't know what to make of him, other than what was obvious. He saved Planet Vegeta and the entirety of the Saiyan race from Frieza's reign over them. He defeated and killed King Cold, and his son Cooler. He was the most terrifying force of destruction King Vegeta had ever seen.
That is to say it wasn't an exaggeration when they said that the Slayer would have been their greatest and unbeatable enemy if not for him. He was like a giant machine with powerful arms that could tear through walls and crush anyone that stood in his way. He was a one man army that could cut through an army of hundreds without even breaking a sweat. He had taken down King Cold with ease while he still had his strength.
King Vegeta was only a warrior at heart after all but the fact that he could defeat King Cold should be the ultimate proof of his strength. Strength that, he hate to admit, made him feel slightly intimidated and afraid of this new foe that appeared on his planet and saved it. But it's thanks to his sudden arrival, that he had broken Planet Vegeta and his people's shackles from the dark tyrant and now they're free once more.
There's hope for a greater future. The Saiyan race will prevail and persevere.
He rested both of his hands on the throne's armrests as he stared at the Slayer standing in front of him. He could barely see the Slayer's narrowing eyes behind the helmet. He looked intimidating enough already and with that menacing expression on his face, he knew well that the armored warrior wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone who proved to be a threat. Even if said threats were King Vegeta himself.
King Vegeta leaned forward in his seat. "I can't express enough gratitude to you for saving us and defeating Frieza. Including his father and brother."
The Slayer blankly stared back at King Vegeta, unblinking and silent. He knew the king was sincere about his words.
"Even now it's still hard to believe that someone like you existed and actually managed to destroy Frieza completely. No one has ever managed to do so or even accomplish such a task. You are truly incredible, Slayer."
The Slayer remained silent, not showing any sign of emotion. He was just standing there, unmoving like a statue. It was unnerving, but King Vegeta kept speaking regardless.
"It's not just your achievements that haven't gone unnoticed by me. My people also consider you their savior as well. More than that," King Vegeta stood up from his throne, arms folded behind his back as he continued to speak. "If you haven't noticed or heard it already, every single Saiyan from all around, both Low class and Elites, have all agreed that… they deemed you worthy to be their next King of Saiyans."
The Slayer raised an eyebrow at the last sentence. The thought that someone like him was being considered the next leader always crossed his mind. He didn't care. Even though he was once told by King Novik himself that he had the potential to lead a great nation, he knew better. There was no place for those kinds of ideas. He wanted nothing to do with them. The Slayer only had one goal, and one goal only; to annihilate the demons. That's it, and he couldn't give less of a damn about anything else.
King Vegeta sighed. "With all honesty, this is a bit troubling. I originally wanted my son, Prince Vegeta, to take on my role of ruling the Saiyan race but with everyone wanting their savior as their king," he paused for a moment. "Well, I have to decide whether to let my son lead the Saiyan race or step down and let you take over as King. Of course, the decision shouldn't be left to me. The decision is entirely yours to make."
The Slayer slowly shook his head. King Vegeta blinked, taken aback by this.
"What? You…don't want it?" King Vegeta asked skeptically. The Slayer shook his head once more and then nodded firmly.
"The Slayer has no need of it nor does he want to rule over anyone."
"Hmm… very well," he answered simply. "I do applaud you though, Slayer. It takes someone of strong will to refuse a throne from its rightful owner. Some people would jump at the chance but… I respect your decision."
King Vegeta sat back down on his throne, crossing his arms. He was extremely grateful for the intervention of the Slayer, he truly was. The man was the most unstoppable force in the world, a powerhouse of titanic proportions that was more than capable of combating any threat on his own, but he came with an obvious problem. One that King Vegeta and everyone else was quick to identify since the fall of King Cold and Cooler...
He is quite literally and undoubtedly unstoppable.
When it comes to the elites, they're born with great potential in strength and speed. They've got the brains, determination, and the art of battle. Whether low or high class, the Saiyans were born to be warriors. The Slayer, though, was no mere warrior.
They are a concept. An event. A physical manifestation of righteousness and rage. He is essentially a walking natural disaster that storms across anywhere it hits. All anyone can do is get to cover and do their best to wait it out. It was only thanks to the help of Bardock's mate that he has been able to veer the storm in the direction he desires up until now. But King Vegeta wasn't a fool. He knew that he can't be controlled because there's nothing to control him with. He knew that soon enough, the Slayer would encounter something that would throw him off-course. Thus King Vegeta was left with an unidentifiable time-table in which he had to make use of the Slayer's abilities as best he could before he loses control completely.
Though he still hated that he, along with the other Saiyans had to give up their ways but…what choice did they have? What was to become of Planet Vegeta? King Vegeta shook his head. If he really wanted to change things, he had to adapt. And with Frieza and his family gone, they could really start anew.
"Still, I can't let you off without a reward for your valiant deeds, Slayer. You came here and brought us our liberation after all. Normally I don't do this for anyone, not even my loyal guards but I can make an exception. Whatever you ask for, you shall have." King Vegeta looked at the Slayer again.
"If I may ask, King Vegeta. Are there any crafting rooms available here?" Vega asked him suddenly. "It might prove useful for the Slayer to upgrade his weapons with your technology."
"Yes, yes we have some. Why?" King Vegeta asked curiously.
"Would you allow the Slayer to have one of them?"
"Of course. Anything else?"
"I believe a ship should suffice for now. Though the Slayer is only staying here temporarily to help Broly control his power, he also plans to travel around the galaxy to seek out some way that may help him return to where he originally came from," Vega explained.
King Vegeta stroked his beard in thought as he pondered this. A ship certainly wouldn't be too bad for the Slayer. As far as ships go, it was a fairly decent size and relatively fast. But what kind of ship was Vega referring to? Frieza's ship? Maybe. Well, whatever it was, the Slayer was going to get his own vessel. It'd be good practice anyways.
"Very well. I think a small ship could work just fine for the Slayer. Though, he will also need to learn how to fly it."
"Not to worry. The Slayer is well experienced in flying and navigating a ship, my lord. I assure you that he can manage quite easily and perfectly."
King Vegeta watched as the Slayer rolled around and walked away, exiting the throne room before the tall double doors closed once more.
A/N: Hey, it's me Goku! Whew, glad all that's resolved! Seems the Slayers is staying with all the Saiyans, heh heh, at least for now. It seems both the low class and the elites have REALLY high respect for him too. Although I can tell that they're still a bit bummed that they have to stop their evil ways. I wonder how this will change things in the future? Haha! I can't wait!
Next time on DOOM: INCARNATION!
CHAPTER 9: TWO YEARS LATER
Don't miss it!
Note: Welp, that concludes volume 1! Gotta admit I had fun writing this. I've had the idea of what it would be like if the Doom Slayer was transported to the Dragon Ball Z/Super universe, and how arcs would change with his presence in them. But since there was barley any written fics of this in fanfiction I've decided to write one myself and have my own take in it. And I gotta say I had fun and was already liking where my story was going, and I hope you had fun reading this as well! Though volume 1 is over, this is just the beginning. Hope to see you all in the next chapter and I hope you have a nice day. Take care!
