Boku no Hero Academia: Custodian Izuku
Disclaimer: This is a crossover fanfiction story of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' (yes, really). I own nothing of the two series other than the fanfiction stories that I make.
I am making this story for the sake of fun, fluff and awesome after writing a one-shot story of the same story concept. If I am able to somehow impress fans of Warhammer 40k or even move someone to tears, even better.
Also, if anyone wants to know how in the world I got this idea in the first place, please refer to the artist, Ryuusei (Mark II), who has made some awesome pictures of gender-bent primarchs. The link is: .us/pools/17320
Please note that while I am familiar with the Warhammer 40k setting, my actual knowledge of it is casual at best. Also, if the genderbent primarchs seem at least a bit OOC, please kindly consider the fact that their bodies (especially the traitor primarchs) have changed drastically after entering Izuku's world.
In case anyone asks how much crack I was taking in to come up with the idea, I am just going to say enough to make even a loyalist Adaptus Astartes trippy.
Chapter 3: The Gathering of Angels
With the new home nearing completion, it made sense that Izuku and Inko would want to return to their original home to take their belongings. Having nothing better to do at the time, as well as still having justified trust issues towards the "loading robots", the six former primarchs decided to help them with the shifting of belongings. Given the girls' impressive physical abilities, neither Inko nor Izuku refused their assistance.
Of course, as wards of U.A. High School, a pro-hero from the school would have to follow the former primarchs as they helped the Midoriya family pack their belongings. A tall and lean pale-skinned man with messy shoulder-length black hair and tired-looking eyes named Aizawa Shouta, who was also a pro-hero known as Eraser Head, was "volunteered" to keep an eye on the six girls that day.
"Something tells me that this man could use some 'Astartes-strength recaf'," said Russ while looking at the apparently exhausted pro-hero who, for some reason, was lying on the floor while inside a yellow sleeping bag. She was also helping to pack some kitchenware into a large box.
"Does such a drink even exist?" asked Sanguinius who was understandably unsure if such a drink was available in the former primarchs' original universe after her death. On a side note, she was holding up a sizeable stack of plates and bowls with one hand without showing any signs of physical or mental strain.
Dorn peered at Russ and said, "Not as far as I know but, given the existence of 'Fenrisian Ale', I won't be too surprised if someone finds a way to make such a drink somehow." She and Vulkan were currently packing some books and albums into a large box.
Vulkan smiled and said, "Perhaps a 'genetor' with a recaf obsession will make such an attempt and succeed by the time we somehow return home."
"While I find this discussion interesting, I doubt anyone who has a 'Catalepsean Node' will need any recaf," said Jaghatai who walked out of the bathroom while carrying a box full of toiletries.
Shouta, who was observing the girls while resting to the point of being seemingly asleep, thought, "Unless I'm mistaken, those girls are talking about coffee, ale, geneticists and a node of some sort that reduces the need for sleep." His frown deepened slightly as he continued to think, "I may not want to question Nedzu's advice to not get too worked up about the girls and their classified origins, but I won't mind getting that node for myself."
The door into Izuku's room opened and both Izuku and Angron walked out of the room together. Izuku was blushing as he was holding a box of All Might merchandise while Angron, who was holding up a large box of the same merchandise in each arm, had a dumbstruck expression on her face. Had she not known any better, she was quite sure that the former primarchs would have mistaken Izuku for an overzealous priest of a sanctioned imperial cult.
Inko, who came out of her room while carrying a box of her own personal belongings, noticed Izuku and Angron. She smiled impishly as she asked Angron, "So, how did you find Izuku's room?"
Izuku's blush intensified further as he staunchly refused to look at anyone in the eyes while Angron blinked owlishly a few times and then said, "It was like I had walked into a sanctioned shrine that worshipped All Might as an avatar of the Emperor's will."
Shouta almost grimaced as he thought, "Great, an All Might fanboy…" Although Shouta knew that All Might was a capable pro-hero, he felt that he would not get along with someone who was so different from himself in terms of personality. Unlike All Might, who was an undoubtedly popular pro-hero, Shouta worked as an underground pro-hero who despised dealing with the media. Ironically, Shouta was on good terms with a certain bombastic and well-known blond pro-hero named Present Mic due to being classmates in the past.
Russ snorted and said, "I believe the local term for such a person is, 'fanboy'."
Izuku could only meekly explain, "I… really admire All Might a lot."
Sanguinius chuckled at Izuku's clear adoration towards All Might and said, "While I understand your admiration towards the man, please do not forget our advice about such feelings of admiration."
Remembering the former primarchs' warnings about being too blinded by admiration and devotion towards anyone, including a certain childhood friend who had turned into a bully for years, Izuku nodded and said, "I understand, Sanguinius-san." While Izuku admired All Might, he knew that the powerful and charismatic pro-hero was ultimately a man who was mortal just like any other human being. Admittedly, knowing and truly understanding were two separate concepts but, given Lorgar and Fulgrim's past obsessive admiration towards the Emperor before they turned traitor, the former primarchs were glad that Izuku did not reject their warnings.
Before the morning was over, Izuku and his mother were able to pack their belongings into a large moving lorry with the help of the former primarchs. During the shifting of belongings, many people took notice of the easily-recognised girls and immediately posted pictures and video recordings of them on the internet.
Needless to say, the images and video recordings were seen by many other people.
-At Jin's apartment…-
"It's not much of an update but I figured you wanted to know," said Jin who then contradicted himself, "It's the news of the decade!"
Fulgrim, who stayed behind while the other three former traitor primarchs were away, looked at the pictures and frowned as she thought, "Still no sign of Ferrus."
"Someone whom you wanted to see isn't in the pictures, I take it," said Jin who then added, "That cheeky bastard's everywhere!"
Fulgrim sighed and said, "That's… one way to put it." Out of the four former traitors, it could be said that she was arguably the least liked among them. In fact, even before she betrayed the Imperium and became a daemon prince during her past life, many primachs did not like her very much with a few exceptions such as Ferrus, Horus and possibly Konrad.
"Do you… want to talk about it?" asked Jin who then added, "I'm not interested at all!"
"Let's just say that my… desire to be perfect has caused pain and grief beyond imagining," answered Fulgrim who had a bitter self-depreciating smile on her face. Her smile became sad as she continued to talk, "Thinking back, so many problems could have been avoided if I had been willing to accept that I did not need to be perfect to be deemed as good."
A moment of silence passed before Jin said, "I… can kind of relate." He wore a bitter expression as he continued to talk without his usual self-contradiction, "Much like you, I'm a fucking screw-up and at least some of it is really my own fault."
Since Fulgrim did not interrupt him, he started to tell her about his past, "When I was still in middle school, my parents died in a villain attack. I had no other family to rely on and, due to sheer shitty luck, got into an accident that got me unemployed and homeless. Things got so bad that I ended up using my quirk to make a copy of myself just so that I can have someone to rely on. Before long, I realised that my copies can make more of themselves and, well, you can probably imagine what that led to."
"You became a villain who led a literal army of copies to do your bidding," said Fulgrim. As a former primarch who had lead armies to war, the implications of such a power was amazing, and horrifying, even by her standards.
"Pretty much," confirmed Jin who then shuddered and said, "The thing is, anything that I copy is not only less durable than the original but also has a will of its own while having the same personality as the original. So, when I started abusing my power and got my copies to do all the difficult work for me, they started resenting me." He touched the scar on his forehead as he continued telling his story, "One day, my copies tied me up and gave me this scar before they started fighting and killing one another over who was the 'real me' for nine days until I was the only one left. Even now, I'm still not even sure if I'm really the real one or just a surviving copy that got 'lucky'."
After Jin told Fulgrim his story, she was silent for a moment before she asked, "So… how do you deal with it? With being a 'fucking screw-up'?"
"Honestly, I'm the last person you should be asking for advice from," said Jin who then contradicted himself as usual, "I'm the wisest man alive after all!"
Fulgrim snorted at Jin's quirky nature which reminded her of 'psykers' who, while certainly not entirely sane, were still functional. She then smiled at him and said, "Then I guess we'll have to figure this problem out together somehow."
"I can roll with that," said Jin who was glad that he had helped Fulgrim out somehow. He then contradicted himself, "I'm not helping anyone!"
Little did Fulgrim and Jin realise that Magnus, who had just returned with Mortarion and Perturabo, had listened to their entire conversation through the use of her mind-reading ability. The red-skinned former primarch wore a bitter expression as she thought to herself, "A 'fucking screw-up'. That's something that applies to all four of us… no matter how much we wish it to be otherwise." Her frown deepened as she continued to ponder about the other primarchs, "That aside, what in the warp are the other primarchs up to?"
-Meanwhile, in Hosu City…-
Two tall girls, who were dressed in clothes that were clearly not fitting them properly, were staring at pictures of Izuku and the six former primarchs who were with him on a mobile phone that they had stolen from some low-ranking villains. The said villains, who had tried to sexually assault the two of them, were left in a pile of still-breathing bodies with broken bones and limbs that were clearly bent in "unintended angles".
One of the two girls, who had dark skin, black hair and pale-grey eyes, glared at a picture of Russ and growled contemptuously, "Leman Russ…!"
The other girl, who had black hair and blue eyes, looked at the same picture and said, "I know that you despise her but we must consider our options, brot… sister."
The dark-skinned girl glared at her blue-eyed companion and said, "No, Icarian, I refuse to ally myself with the one who murdered my sons!"
"Then what do you propose we do, Gwalchavad? Live the rest of our lives on the streets while in hiding from all of our former brothers?" asked the blue-eyed girl whose name was Icarian. She then argued, "We don't even know how we got here and, like it or not, our current abhuman bodies are not as strong as our original ones. By the throne, we're barely able to feed ourselves and, unless my powers are even less reliable than before, this version of Terra will experience winter before the year is over."
"I'd rather rot on the street of this world than seek help from my own murderer!" yelled the dark-skinned girl whose name was Gwalchavad.
"Then perhaps I can be of assistance, sisters."
Shocked, both Icarian and Gwalchavad turned their attention towards a girl who had blond hair, eyes that seemed to shift between Arctic-blue and shimmering green and, unlike the two girls who were nearly two metres tall, was about one and a half metres tall. Recognising the girl, Gwalchavad growled, "Alpharius, what are you doing here?"
"As I've already said, I'm here to offer my assistance to you two," said the pale blond girl known as Alpharius.
"Why should we believe you?" asked Icarian.
"You may have no reason to believe me but the sad truth is that the two of you are clearly struggling to survive on the streets," replied Alpharius who then added, "Fortunately, you're not the first group of former primarchs that I've met and I can give you their locations."
"What makes you think we will trust you, dog of the Emperor?" growled Gwalchavad who then yelled, "Your legion was among the forces of the Imperium that was sent to destroy us and those who were loyal to us!"
Alpharius frowned slightly before she said, "You're not the only ones who betrayed the Emperor. You're simply the ones whose records have been expunged from memory."
Shocked, both Icarian and Gwalchavad were silent before the blue-eyed former primarch asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Alpharius wore an unmistakably bitter expression as she started to explain about the Horus Heresy which happened after the deaths of both "former lost primarchs"…
-Somewhere nearby a seemingly normal traditional Japanese residence…-
A young girl with red eyes, white hair, scars on her limbs and a single white horn on the right side of her forehead was fleeing in terror as she tried to escape from her "guardian". As she ran, she kept looking behind her in fear of the people who were no doubt pursuing her.
Suddenly, the young girl ran into the leg of a tall person and fell down onto her backside. Dazed by the collision, she shook her head to clear her vision before she looked up. She froze as she looked into the eyes of a pale tall girl with black hair and black eyes with purple irises. The young girl trembled in mortal fear as she could tell from a glance that the eerie tall girl, who was dressed in rags, was dangerous.
"Eri, there you are."
The young white-haired girl, whose name was Eri, flinched when she heard her name being called the the man who claimed to be her father. The man had thin eyes with gold irises, short auburn hair and wore a beak-shaped plague mask. His eyes narrowed slightly in disgust at the tall black-haired girl before he wore a false smile and said in Japanese, "My apologies, Miss, my daughter has a bad habit of running off on her own. I'll be sure to-"
"I've faced many kinds of scum in my past life," said the tall girl who was speaking in English. Her eyes narrowed as she added, "and you are worse than most mortal scum."
The man was barely able to comprehend the implications of the tall girl's words when she suddenly appeared behind him with crudely-sharpened blades in her hands. Acting on instinct, he tried to touch her so that he could kill her with his quirk when she suddenly sliced off all of his fingers at a speed that was clearly superhuman. His eyes widened in horror as he stared at the bloody stumps that used to be his fingers before she stabbed him just below his ribcage, causing him to literally start drowning in his own blood.
He could vaguely hear the distressed cries of his minions, members of the Shie Hassaikai yakuza group, as they rushed in to somehow save him, "Overhaul-sama!"
Seemingly uncaring of the incoming foes, the tall girl glared into his eyes as she lifted him up with one arm and spoke to him in English, "Before you die, know that I am the Night Haunter, Konrad Curze."
-A few minutes later…-
What was supposed to be a dirty alley resembled an abattoir as blood, limbs, entrails and various other body parts of at least four people were scattered throughout the alley. The tall girl with black hair, Curze, took a deep breath and thought to herself, "Even in this version of Terra, I'm still doomed to be a monster."
After cleaning her bloodied blades, which were clearly inferior to the weapons she once wielded as a primarch, Curze turned her attention towards Eri who was understandably horrified by the bloody scene before her. The older girl, who was still unable to speak Japanese properly, said, "You. Leave. Find. Place."
Seemingly broken from a trance, Eri looked up at Curze before tears welled up in her eyes. She then did the last thing Curze, who still possessed the ability to look into the future as a quirk, expected.
Eri ran towards Curze and hugged her tightly while sobbing.
Shocked by the girl's unexpected action, Curze was at a loss on what to do before she awkwardly tried to pet Eri comfortingly and repeated herself in Japanese, "You. Leave. Find. Place."
Eri shook her head and said, "I have no home. People say I'm a curse."
Although Cruze was unable to understand what Eri had said exactly, she knew enough to know that Eri did not have anyone to turn to for help. She considered leaving Eri to the local law enforcers but ultimately decided against it. After all, even worlds less horrible than Nostramo had corrupt leaders and law enforcers. That being said, she had enough self-awareness to know that she far from the ideal maternal figure. Even if she was half-decent as a guardian or parent, she knew from personal experience that living on the streets would not be easy for the weak and vulnerable.
A bitter smile formed on her lips as she thought of someone who could take care of Eri and had become rather well-known on the current version of Terra, "To think that I will have to turn to her of all former primarchs for help."
-Meanwhile, in the Kiyashi Ward…-
"Why are you here, Alpharius?" growled Lion while pointing an iron pipe at the pale-blond former primarch as though she was wielding a sword. Guilliman, Ferrus and Corax were similarly tense and prepared to fight the notably short former primarch.
It should be noted that the four former primarchs were still speaking in English even though they were rapidly learning the Japanese language.
Alpharius raised her hands in surrender and said, "I'm not here to fight you four. In fact, I'm here to join your side."
Ferrus narrowed her eyes while her arms started to develop thick metal plates to form steel-like gauntlets and growled, "Do you seriously expect us to believe you, traitor?"
"Honestly, no," admitted Alpharius who then added, "However, unless you four have been living under a rock this whole time, you must have realised that even a former daemon primarch like Angron has changed after coming to this world."
Unable to deny the truth, the four former loyalist primarchs could only frown in displeasure before Guilliman asked, "When I killed you back on Eskrador, that was not really you, was it?"
Unlike the other former primarchs, Alpharius could easily blend in with her own space marines, the Alpha Legion, during her past life and had been known to use body doubles to interact with others. As such, it would not be surprising if Guilliman had slain a body double instead of the real Alpharius. After all, prior to Guilliman's fight with Alpharious on Eskrador, Rogal Dorn had claimed to have slain Alpharius during the Horus Heresy. Also, while space marines would normally be deeply demoralised by the death of their primarch, the Alpha Legion actually continued to fight effectively even after Guilliman had seemingly slain Alpharius.
Alpharious wore a small smirk as she replied, "I will neither confirm nor deny the claim, Guilliman."
"Even if your claims about Angron is indeed true, it does not change the fact that you and your legion have betrayed us once," said Corax who then narrowed her eyes and added, "Or the fact that your Alpha Legion was involved in aiding the traitors and the ruinous powers."
"In my defence, my Alpha Legion sabotaged Lorgar's attempt to widen the Great Rift," argued Alpharius. Her eyes narrowed as she added, "Say what you will about my loyalty to the Emperor, but my goal was to eliminate Chaos as a threat."
At the end of the 'Age of the Dark Imperium', the primarchs who were still loyal to the Emperor led a war, known as the 'Great Rift Crusade', to stop Lorgar from widening the Great Rift further. The war was also intended to find a way to somehow weaken or even close off the rift to sever the immaterium from the material universe. During the said war, members of the Alpha Legion acted in ways that were actually disadvantageous for the forces of Chaos, especially for Lorgar and his Word Bearer space marines. In fact, a last-minute act of betrayal by an Alpha Legion space marine, who might have been Alpharius himself at the time, allowed imperial forces to stop Lorgar from succeeding in widening the rift. However, the said betrayal also had an unintended side-effect that involved banishing the very souls of the primarchs, both loyalists and traitors, to the the world that they were currently living on.
Having personally witnessed the act of betrayal, Corax knew that Apharius was not lying, at least not completely. Even so, she had to ask, "Then why did you allow your legion to aid the agents of the Ruinous Powers?"
"It was the only way for them to see my legion as a potential ally instead of a potential threat," answered Alpharius who then added, "Unlike the rest of you, I took a long view of the situation to ensure that the Chaos Gods will not rule over the material realm."
"Even if it means betraying the Emperor and the Imperium?" growled Lion.
"Never mind letting your own sons worship the chaos gods?" asked Corax who was clearly being rhetorical.
Alpharius almost grimaced as she admitted, "I will admit that more of my space marines truly fell to Chaos, especially Tzeentch, than I had expected."
"What about our current situation? Is this one of your convoluted schemes?" demanded Ferrus.
Alpharius shook her head and answered, "This… situation that we're all in right now is something that I haven't even considered to be possible to begin with."
A tense moment of silence passed before Guilliman said, "I think we should let her join us."
Lion glared at Guilliman and growled, "Are you mad, Guilliman? Never mind her penchant for deceit and subterfuge, Alpharius has already proven herself disloyal. Tolerating her presence will only invite treachery and betrayal in the future."
"While I share your distrust towards Alpharius, I'd rather have her close to us where we can keep an eye on her than have her join forces with the other former primarchs, especially the traitors," answered Guilliman who then added, "Besides, I'm willing to bet that she did not approach us empty-handed or without some kind of backup plan."
Alpharius smiled smugly as she spoke, "You're right to assume such, Guilliman."
"Then what exactly do you have to offer, traitor?" asked Lion who was clearly expecting her to deceive them.
"A few days ago, I saw Curze who was by herself. Unless something unexpected happens, she is unlikely to remain where I found her but I also doubt that she will move very far," said Alpharius.
Lion narrowed her eyes and growled, "What of the other traitors?"
"I did not personally meet any of them before or after I saw Curze, unfortunately," answered Alpharious who then added, "That being said, I have heard rumours of two girls who were tall and spoke in a language that the local people called 'English' in Hosu city…"
-Back in Hosu City…-
Icarian wore a grieving expression and said, "To think that the Imperium fell so low after our deaths."
Although Gwalchavad had never felt particularly loyal to the Emperor or the Imperium, even she felt a sense of loss. The fact that she could have helped prevent, or at least minimize, the damages caused by the heresy due to her very nature as a psychic blank only made the sense of loss worse.
Alpharius, who might actually be the twin, Omegon, in disguise, asked, "Now that you two know about the Horus Heresy, what do you two intend to do?"
A moment of silence passed before Icarian said, "I think we should join up with the loyalists. It's the least we can do after failing the Imperium."
Gwalchavad glared at Icarian and argued, "You may want to be forgiven and accepted by the Emperor and his Imperium, but I don't. He knowingly made me into a 'pariah primarch' and did not care that my sons died as long as his 'Great Crusade' proceeded as planned." She then bitterly added, "Besides, the other primarchs could barely tolerate my presence back then and I doubt that will change in this world."
"So you intend to betray the Emperor again?" asked Alpharius who did not sound accusatory.
"No, I simply refuse to return to the man who created us to be mere tools for his ambitions," answered Gwalchavad who then turned around to leave.
Well aware of Gwalchavad's justified resentment towards the Emperor, Icarian did nothing to stop her as she left. Once the dark-skinned former primarch was out of sight, she turned around to face Alpharius and said, "I want to meet the four loyalists who have not started staying at U.A. High School."
Unlike Gwalchavad, Icarian was interested in rejoining the Imperium if given the chance. However, she was also admittedly reluctant to reveal herself to Leman Russ who had killed her in her past life.
Alpharius nodded and said, "We will set off early tomorrow morning." Mentally, she thought, "If Magnus and the other three former traitors truly do not wish to return to the service of the Chaos Gods, then it might be safe to lead Gwalchavad to them. Regardless, either myself or my sister will have to keep an eye on her as soon as possible."
-Later that day, at U.A. High School…-
Izuku tilted his head as he stared at the building which resembled a small apartment complex with four floors and asked, "Is it just me or is this building big enough to fit way more than eight people?"
Nedzu smiled in amusement as he spoke, "Indeed it is. In fact, this building can easily fit a maximum of twenty-four people." Left unsaid was that the building was a modified version of school dormitories that the principal wished to build one day. The ground floor of the building was designed to have a living room, a kitchen, a dining room and a bathroom. Normally, the bathroom would be divided into two sections to separate the boys from the girls but, since Izuku would be the only male resident, Nedzu felt that it was not necessary. Besides, Izuku had proven himself to be a genuinely good person and the six former primrachs were more than capable of defending themselves.
Russ wore a deadpan expression as she spoke to Nedzu, "You're seriously expecting all twenty of us to start living in the same building, aren't you?"
"While I understand your doubts, it never hurts to be sure. Besides, other people can stay there as well so it is no problem at all," replied Nedzu.
"Well, it's your school and resources," said Russ while shrugging.
Dorn frowned as she looked at the building and said, "While the building has the potential to be a comfortable place for people to live in with the correct furnishing and decorations, I can't help but feel that it is a bit lacking in security."
"If you wish, I can arrange for a meeting with you and your fellow former primarchs to discuss about school security," said Nedzu who was honestly eager to improve the security of the school within a reasonable budget. Of course, if Dorn was planning to add military-grade anti-orbital cannons, Nedzu might have to put his paw down and politely refuse.
Dorn nodded and said, "Even if Magnus and the three traitors with her truly refuse to serve the forces of Chaos again, there's no guarantee that the same can be said about the others, especially Lorgar."
"For now though, we should take everything in and start unpacking," said Vulkan who then added, "Evening is fast approaching and, even if we can't unpack everything, we can at least unpack enough to stay there for tonight."
No one disagreed with Vulkan's suggestion so they started bringing in their boxes of belongings to unpack. Unlike Izuku and Inko, the former primarchs did not have much to unpack so it did not take long for them to finish their own unpacking and then help the two of them.
Since there were only eight people in total, it was decided that all eight of them would stay on the same floor which was the second floor just above the ground floor. To the surprise of no one, Angron wanted to stay next to Izuku's room. Inko, for some reason, decided to stay in a room that was opposite of Izuku's room so that he could have at least some measure of "privacy".
Soon, it was evening and, since everyone had been busy unpacking, it was decided that they would order some food for dinner. As everyone waited for the food to be delivered, Izuku curiously asked, "So, what do you six want to do now?"
For the past few days, the the six former primarchs had used their admittedly minimal free time to learn Japanese, watch the news for any signs of the other former primarchs, do physical and combat training with Izuku and study the local culture. The girls had yet to have any time to actually pursue any specific hobbies but, given the fact that they were presently properly settled, that situation might change.
Sanguinius smiled and said, "I thought about painting pictures of the places and people I've seen for the past few days."
"I'm going to draw up some plans to improve the security of this place before I discuss any of them with Nedzu," said Dorn.
"I won't mind helping with that," said Vulkan who still had her past experience as a craftsman.
"Personally, I'd like to have a drink," grumbled Russ who was honestly heartbroken when she first realised that she was forbidden by Japanese law to drink anything alcoholic due to being under-aged in spite of her physical size and build. Her dramatic skyward howl of despair was downright meme-worthy.
Jaghatai wore a deadpan expression as she spoke to Russ, "Given the antics that you and your space marines are prone to when drunk, I'm honestly glad that you won't be getting drunk any time soon."
Russ flipped the bird at Jaghatai and growled, "Go eat a bag of weiners, Jaghatai." Normally, Russ would use "more colourful language" but a stern scolding from a disappointed Inko was enough to make her restrain herself while in her presence.
"Well, let's see what's on the news first," said Inko who had been too busy to watch television for the whole day.
Whether by coincidence or perfect timing by forces beyond the material realm, the television screen turned on to reveal a news report that was being delivered by a newscaster with a cut-off right horn named Miyagi Daikaku, "Earlier today, a bloody massacre has been discovered in an alley nearby a compound that belongs to the Hassaikai Family. Police investigators have yet to identify the victims, let alone the perpetrators, due to severe bodily damage but it can be assumed that at least four people have been murdered in that alley by sharp bladed weapons." Although the horned man with greenish straw-coloured was wearing glasses, there was no mistaking his grim expression as he added, "Please be warned that the following pictures of the scene are… graphic to say the least."
Everyone became tense as they looked at extensively-censored pictures of the graphic crime scene in the alley before Sanguinius asked, "Midoriya-san, Izuku, do either of you know any villains that can cause this level of… slaughter?"
Izuku shook his head and said, "There are villains who can cause that level of slaughter if given a chance but, as far as I know, all of them have either been apprehended or gone into hiding."
"Which means that this might be Curze's handiwork," said Dorn.
"It has been almost a week since we got here," said Vulkan who was clearly implying that Curze was the sort to consider killing as a viable option for every problem faced in the galaxy.
Suddenly, the eight people in the communal living room received a message from Nedzu that stated, "About the suggestions to improve school security, I'd like to hold that discussion as early as tonight if possible."
Almost impressed by the speed of Nedzu's response to the news, Jaghatai said, "It looks like we won't be relaxing tonight."
-Meanwhile at a house in Musutafu city…-
"My god…" said a bespectacled man with spiky brown hair, a small moustache named Bakugou Masaru.
"What kind of fucking psycho would do such a thing?" asked a young-looking woman with spiky ash-blond hair and sharp red eyes named Bakugou Mitsuki.
Even their short-tempered and arrogant son, Bakugou Katsuki, was horrified by the pictures of the alley which would not have looked out of place in a horror film.
"Katsuki, I know that this murder did not happen in Musutafu, but I want you to promise me not to go into any alleys or go out at night until the villain who did that has been arrested," said Masaru.
Angered by the implication that he was not strong enough to defend himself, "Katsuki yelled, "What the fuck?! I'm not some weak-ass extra, you shitty old man!"
"Shut up and listen to your father, brat!" yelled Mitsuki while smacking the back of Katsuki's head. She then added, "Villains who cause that level of carnage are normally fucking cooked in the head like Muscular and Moonfish, not your typical D-ranks!"
Masaru nodded and said, "You have a strong quirk, son, but your quirk doesn't exactly grant you an invincible body."
Although angry, Katsuki knew that his parents had given reasonable points. As such, he simply went up to his room while angrily yelling, "Fuck it, fine!"
After Katsuki had gone upstairs to his room, Mitsuki sighed and said, "In a way, I'm glad that Inko-chan and her son are at U.A. High School with those girls. The last thing any villain will do is go there to attack anyone."
Masaru nodded and said, "Speaking of Inko-chan and Izuku, did you notice anything about Katsuki lately?"
Mitsuki wore a worried expression and said, "Ever since yesterday, he's been extremely tense like he's expecting the other shoe to drop and fuck him up. In fact, it has gotten even worse today."
"Do you think Katsuki, the school and maybe even Izuku have been hiding something from us?" asked Masaru.
"Given the fact that the staff at the school's been kissing that brat's ass for years, I wouldn't be surprised," replied Mitsuki who then added, "Though I doubt that whatever secret they are hiding is deeply related to Izuku and Inko's current situation with those six girls."
"Maybe not, but it won't hurt to check," said Masaru.
-Inside Katsuki's bedroom…-
Katsuki was close to pulling his hair out in frustration as he growled, "Fucking damn it!"
Earlier that day, he was waiting near the apartment complex where Izuku and Inko used to live in. His intention was to demand answers from Izuku and to make sure that the "worthless Deku" would not forget his place as a mere pebble in his own path to greatness.
However, things did not go according to plan when Izuku and Inko arrived at the house with not only the six tall girls but also a man whom Izuku apparently recognised as a pro-hero named Eraser Head. As much as Katsuki wanted to confront Izuku, doing so with so many people around was a risky move at best so he hesitated. In spite of the initial hesitation, Katsuki probably would have tried to confront Izuku regardless but one glare from one of the six girls, who had dark copper-red hair that were shaped into dreadlocks, tan skin and pointed teeth that almost resembled fangs, glared at him.
Although Katsuki could safely claim that he had never met the girl before, let alone fought her, every fibre of his being froze in terror when he saw her yellow eyes that seemed to almost glow with barely-contained rage. The terror was so bad that Katsuki did not dare to even breathe until the angry-looking girl broke eye-contact and went upstairs to Izuku's apartment. Unable to shake off the suffocating feeling of primal terror, Katsuki swallowed his pride and bore the burning feeling of humiliating defeat as he rushed back home as soon as he could. Fortunately for him, his parents were not at home when he got there so he was able to endure his breakdown in relative peace and regain at least some composure before they returned home. However, the damage had already been done and Katsuki knew that he had just suffered his first major defeat even though his pride made him refuse to accept it as such.
Since Izuku and Inko had moved into their new residence, it would not be surprising that Izuku would end up changing schools as well. This meant that the chances of Izuku revealing all the abuse he had endured to someone who would actually "give a fuck" to the quirkless boy would grow exponentially. Should that occur, Katsuki's future would most likely be ruined before it could even begin.
"Fuck… fuck… fuck…!" swore Katsuki as he desperately tried to stay quiet to avoid attracting the attention of his parents who were unaware of his actual relationship with Izuku.
While it was no secret to anyone that Izuku and Katsuki were not as close as they used to be in the past, both boys had hidden the truth of the bullying from their respective parents. Until recently, Katsuki had never been bothered by the possibility of Izuku telling anyone about the bullying. However, the situation had changed and Katsuki knew that Izuku had all the information he needed to ruin his future without even needing a quirk to do so.
For all his life, Katsuki was told by basically everyone that he was destined to be a great hero, that he could very well be the next No.1 pro-hero in all of Japan like All Might. Even those who did not like him, or tried to mock him as Izuku had done when he dared to ask if he needed any help years ago, were forced to acknowledge his strength. However, no amount of raw power would allow Katsuki to be publicly accepted as a pro-hero if he could not even attend a pro-hero school let alone one as prestigious as U.A. High School. In theory, Katsuki could become vigilante and develop his heroic reputation from there but, in his point of view, only losers who failed to be proper pro-heroes in the first place would even consider going down such a path.
As someone who believed that anything less than the top spot was worthless, Katsuki was unsurprisingly extremely stressed about his current situation. Unfortunately for him, his situation was not going to get any better any time soon, if at all…
-Back at the alley where Overhaul had met his end…-
"This… is unprecedented," said a tall and lean yet muscular man with sharp elongated features, shiny dark-green hair with three yellow streaks, yellow eyebrows and stern-looking yellow eyes named Sasaki Mirai. Also known as a pro-hero called Sir Nighteye, Mirai had been investigating the Shie Hassaikai yakuza group for some time due to suspicions of drug trafficking activities. While unexpected twists of events were hardly unusual in pro-hero work, the complete butchering of a yakuza leader and his trusted lieutenants by what seemed to be a random encounter was not normal even by the standards of current society.
A young woman with a slim build, light-blue skin, short dark-blue hair and wide yellow eyes with thick eyelashes named Awata Kaoruko, who was also Mirai's sidekick known as Bubble Girl, felt sick as she read the report, "We have confirmed from the remains that there are indeed at least four casualties: Chisaki Kai, Kurono Hari, Irinaka Jooi and Nemoto Shin."
"With the deaths of its leader and top lieutenants, the Shie Hassaikai will surely crumble before long," said Mirai.
A tall and thin man with the face of a brown centipede named Moashi Juuzou, who was also Mirai's sidekick known as Centipeder, stepped in and asked, "Should we assist in making sure that the yakuza group will not be able to recover or join other villainous gangs?"
"No," answered Mirai who then explained, "While letting the Shie Hassaikai somehow recover or join forces with another villainous organisation is certainly of great concern, finding the person responsible for this… butchery takes precedence."
"I concur, woof," said a man with a tall sturdy body and the head of a beagle named Tsuragamae Kenji who was also the Chief of Police. His eyes narrowed as he continued to speak to Mirai, "Whoever slaughtered Overhaul and his men is still at large and I shudder to think what will happen if that murderer decides to kill again or, worse, join forces with another villain such as Stain."
"Then it is decided. My sidekicks and I will track down whoever has caused this to prevent the situation from escalating any further,"said Mirai.
"I'll be sure to contact other pro-heroes and the police force to assist you in your search, woof," said Kenji who, like Mirai, was determined to stop whoever was responsible from sowing more terror through acts of violent slaughter and worse.
Mirai, who was once All Might's sidekick, nodded at Kenji and said, "We will let you know if we find anything." His frown deepened slightly as he thought, "I refuse to allow this peace, that All Might has sacrificed so much to create, to be broken."
-Meanwhile, in an unnamed alley some distance away from the infamous murder scene…-
"Ah-CHOO!"
"Are you cold?" asked Eri while looking up at Curze who had just sneezed.
Curze rubbed her nose and replied, "No."
Eri tilted her head and innocently suggested, "Maybe someone's talking about you?"
Unable to understand what Eri had just said, mainly because she could not understand why suddenly sneezing would imply that someone was talking about her, Curze simply shrugged and asked, "Eri. Hungry?"
A growl from Eri's tummy answered Curze's questions before the young girl would say anything. She blushed in embarrassment and hid her face with her hands before she meekly answered, "Yes."
Curze nodded at Eri before turning her attention towards a convenience store and thought, "Normally, I'd just scavenge whatever is on the streets. However, Eri will need something better than that to survive long enough."
The former traitor primarch of the Night Lords did not even notice her growing attachment towards the young girl, who had chosen to see her as a heroine instead of a murderous monster, as she gently put her down and said, "Stay. Hide. I. Steal. Food."
Eri nodded at Curze and proceeded to hide inside an empty cardboard box with the ease of someone who had tried to hide from her tormentors on a regular basis. Satisfied with Eri's admittedly cute initiative, Curze sneaked into the convenience store…
-Half and hour later…-
Naomasa raised an eyebrow as he asked a terrified store cashier, "So… to put it in summary, a tall girl who probably has some kind of ghost-related quirk sneaked into the store without you noticing and then threatened to flay you alive and use your skin as a leather coat if you refused to give her the food, drink and sanitation items that you have in this store."
The store cashier, who had the head of a hog-nosed bat, nodded and said, "That crazy bitch didn't even bother to take any money. As soon as I gave her all the stuff she wanted, which was one of just about everything, she just left."
"Did she mention why she wanted those items instead of money?" asked Naomasa who had feeling that the criminal was probably one of the former primarchs.
"Not really, her Japanese was awful," said the cashier.
"Perhaps she's simply stealing basic necessities?" suggested a lean man with the large yellow eyes and head of a ginger tabby cat named Tamakawa Sansa.
"Possibly, but people who want to steal basic necessities would usually focus on quantity, not variety," said Naomasa.
"That's certainly true," admitted Sansa before he added, "The only other reason I can think of is that the necessities are mainly for someone else."
"If she does not know what the other person likes in particular, then stealing one of each item would actually make some sense," said Naomasa. He then told Sansa, "I'm going to make a few calls. This may be related to the six girls whom Midoriya-kun met at the forest."
"Wait, you're telling me that that crazy bitch has something to do with those hot babes I've been hearing about on social media?" asked the cashier.
Naomasa nodded and said, "I'm not allowed to say too much but, for the sake of understanding, we believe that those six girls came together with at least four others. We have been looking for the four while keeping an eye out for any others and that girl who robbed this store might be one of them."
"So… when you catch her, she's probably going to stay as U.A. High School then?" asked the cashier.
"Maybe, it depends on what she's been doing all this time," replied Naomasa.
"Well, if nothing else, I've got quite a story to tell on my social media page!" said the cashier.
-Meanwhile, in an alley far from the convenience store…-
"You're not going to eat?" asked Eri who has just eaten a whole onigiri and an apple.
Curze shook her head and said, "Not hungry. Keep. Food. Long. Way."
"To where?" asked Eri.
"U.A. High School. Know. Someone. Help. You," said Curze.
"Will they really help us?" asked Eri.
"Help. You," repeated Curze who was quite certain that none of the other former primarchs, including Angron who had clearly changed from her past life, would want to help her. After all, she had not only betrayed the Emperor but also turned into one of the very monsters that she wanted to destroy during her past life.
Eri frowned but did not press on the issue as she hugged Curze while leaning against her for warmth and physical contact.
Under normal circumstance, children would not want to stay close to people who had slaughtered four people in blindingly rapid succession without any remorse. However, as a child who was still somehow kind-natured in spite of being basically tortured and abused by someone who was supposed to take care of her, Eri saw nothing wrong in wanting to stay by Curze's side. Considering that Chisaki Kai had used his quirk to literally tear Eri apart and then reassemble her, never mind the fact that the three other men were loyal to Kai and were just as cruel, Eri had no reason to think any less of Curze who had basically saved her by killing them.
Curze, who was still unused to affectionate physical contact, almost flinched when Eri hugged her without any hesitation. As Eri nuzzled against her and grew drowsy, Curze could not help but smile at her with a soft expression that she had never shown before even in her past life as a primarch. She then stroked Eri's hair and thought, "I hope that you will grow up safe and happy, Eri."
-Later that night, at U.A. High School…-
Nedzu, smiled as he looked at the information that he had gathered so far.
Within a span of less than a single day, the Shie Hassaikai yakuza group was effectively crippled by an unknown assailant who had slaughtered its leaders and top lieutenants. The latest reports of the murder incident indicated that the leader and his lieutenants were searching for a young girl who had run away from the compound, again.
Within that very same day, a cashier claimed that a tall ghost-like girl who spoke broken Japanese had robbed the convenience store he worked in but only took basic necessities. What was more, the girl seemed to be aiming for variety rather than quantity as though she did not know which items were worth taking in bulk.
"Judging by the location and distance of the convenience store from the murder scene near the Shie Hassaikai compound, as well as the possibility that a young girl who had been abused by Chisaki Kai is involved, I'd dare say that Konrad Curze will most likely reach here in a few days' time at most if this place is indeed her intended destination," said Nedzu.
Shouta frowned as he spoke to Nedzu, "Are you certain that you do not want me to approach her?" Personally, he would rather keep such a dangerous individual away from U.A. High School but Nedzu was adamant of letting her reach the school.
"While I understand your apprehension, please understand that Curze is related to the other six girls who are now under our care. At the very least, I want to personally hear her side of the story before deciding if she can be allowed to stay here with the other six," explained Nedzu who then added, "Also, if the information about the young girl is true, it could be that Curze was protecting her from her abusers."
"Not that I'm against punishing people who abuse young children, but even you must realise that killing them by slicing them into pieces is extreme to say the least," argued Shouta.
"And I would normally agree," said Nedzu who then added, "However, if the reports of Chisaki Kai using his quirk to kill people and worse are true, then Curze may be more justified in going to such extremes than initially expected."
Realising that Nedzu was still adamant in his decision and had given sound reasoning, Shouta sighed and said, "Very well, I will not attempt to apprehend or even look for Curze." He then narrowed his eyes as he asked, "That being said, what makes you so sure that this school is her intended destination?"
"As I have said before, Curze is related to the six girls under our care. There is a reasonable chance that she may come here to, if not join the six girls, then leave the younger girl under their care," said Nedzu who then thought, "If the six girls' statements about Curze's past life is true, she is already showing a great deal more restraint than back then. As an educator, I refuse to forsake someone who is willing to learn from past mistakes and become better."
-In the primarchs' original universe…-
A lot had happened during the short time span after the conclusion of the Great Rift Crusade that saw the shrinking of the Great Rift and the loss of both loyalist and traitor primarchs.
One of the more notable changes that happened during that time was the inclusion of 'Dress Duty' for the penal legions of the Imperial Guard. To explain briefly, members of the penal legions who were on Dress Duty would be ordered to wear frilly pink dresses to distract or lure Khornate chaos space marines. Not surprisingly, those who wear the humiliating dresses had even lower survival rates than the rest of the penal legion soldiers. The dresses were also, for some reason, useful in luring the Slaaneshi forces of chaos but, given the perverse nature of the said forces of chaos, the effectiveness of the dresses on them might not be so surprising in hindsight.
Another notable event involved the Space Wolves as the chapter master, Logan Grimnar, decided to inform the venerable dreadnought of the Space Wolves, Bjorn the Fell-Handed, about a certain vision of Leman Russ howling in despair upon realising that she was not allowed to drink any alcoholic drinks. To say that the venerable dreadnought found the very notion hilarious was an understatement as his booming laughter could be heard echoing throughout and around the fortress-monastery of the Space Wolves, the Fang, for over half an hour. After the venerable dreadnought had calmed down, he amusedly offered a suggestion to Grimnar to hold a solemn toast to their primarch's comically tragic inability to drink anything alcoholic before allowing the Space Wolves to place bets on how she would inevitably get around the "problem". Two particularly popular bets were: making her own home-brewed alcoholic drink and smuggling alcoholic drinks into the U.A. High School without anyone noticing by any means necessary. Not even Grimnar and Bjorn could resist placing their own bets.
When the other members of the Imperium heard about the bet, those who knew the Space Wolves well were honestly not surprised.
-End Chapter-
Author's Notes:
By the Throne, trying to fit Alpharious, Omegon and their Alpha Legion into the story was even trickier than initially expected!
At any rate, I hope that the explanation of how some of the Primarchs met their end at the end of the fan-made "Great Rift Crusade" can be considered as a possible 'Warhammer 40k' scenario. I also hope that the Alpha Legion space marines' involvement in the war, as well as my personal interpretation of how they operate in the setting as a whole, makes at least some sense.
Originally, as in the original one-shot, I thought of having Curze team up with Stain. However, I somehow ended up having her meet Eri instead.
I also could not resist the idea having Russ realise that she was no longer allowed to drink anything alcoholic and have her own Space Wolves have a good time at her expense.
For information on the two 'former lost primarchs', please refer to the author's notes in the first chapter.
Until next time, go beyond, plus ultra!
