Boku no Hero Academia: Custodian Izuku
Disclaimer: This is a crossover fanfiction story of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' (yes, really). I own nothing of the two series other than the fanfiction stories that I make.
I am making this story for the sake of fun, fluff and awesome after writing a one-shot story of the same story concept. If I am able to somehow impress fans of Warhammer 40k or even move someone to tears, even better.
Also, if anyone wants to know how in the world I got this idea in the first place, please refer to the artist, Ryuusei (Mark II), who has made some awesome pictures of gender-bent primarchs. The link is: .us/pools/17320
Please note that while I am familiar with the Warhammer 40k setting, my actual knowledge of it is casual at best. Also, if the genderbent primarchs seem at least a bit OOC, please kindly consider the fact that their bodies (especially the traitor primarchs) have changed drastically after entering Izuku's world.
In case anyone asks how much crack I was taking in to come up with the idea, I am just going to say enough to make even a loyalist Adaptus Astartes trippy.
Chapter 11: Training and Learning
Although a few months had already passed since Izuku first met Angron, he still had moments when he wondered if everything that he had experienced thus far was indeed real. Considering the fact that his new life included the female reincarnations of literal demigods from a war-torn version of the Milky Way, few would blame Izuku for having such moments. Those moments usually did not last for long though as Angron could sense his emotions and made sure that any downward spiral of doubt and fear would be stopped before it had a chance to plague his heart and mind. The fact that Inko, Eri, most of the primarchs and even a few pro-heroes who worked at U.A. High School shared his thoughts about how unusual their lives had become lately made it all the easier for Izuku to accept his current situation.
Still, as crazy had life had been for Izuku lately, he would not have traded it for even the chance of having a powerful quirk and becoming a great hero like All Might. After all, even if Izuku was not destined for greatness, he had accepted the new truth that he was anything but useless.
If there was one thing that Izuku wished could be different it would be having Katsuki realise the error of his ways instead of simply disappearing and then becoming a villain.
Although information of the new group of villains was scarce, the name, 'League of Chaos Undivided' was simply too on the nose to be anything other than Lorgar and her cultists. What was more, there was confirmation that at least some of Izuku's former classmates, including Katsuki, had joined the group and it had been noted that their quirks had changed noticeably. Understandably, receiving boons from the Dark Gods of Chaos was considered as one of the possibilities for the changes in their quirks.
Thankfully, in spite of being rather active, most of the crimes committed by the League of Chaos Undivided involved fights with other villainous groups such as the 'Creature Rejection Clan'. Even so, the levels of security had been increased for not only Izuku's former classmates but also the Asui family and Muratome Rondo who had had past interactions with him and at least some of the former primarchs.
As Izuku prepared for his daily training with three of the former primarchs, he frowned as he recalled a certain conversation that he and the other residents of the Imperial Dorm had with Nedzu, Sorahiko and Toshinori which was related to the destruction of Jaku General Hospital…
-Start of flashback…-
Izuku, along with the other residents of the Imperial Dorm, were in the common living room with Nedzu, Sorahiko and Toshinori. Nedzu wore a sombre expression as he spoke to Izuku, "Midoriya-kun, do you remember that old news article that you showed to me while doing some research about the 'Jaku General Hospital Tragedy'?"
Izuku nodded and asked, "It's really related to the deaths of nearly the entire Shimura family with the youngest son going missing years ago, isn't it?"
"I'm afraid that it's… worse than just that," said Nedzu who then motioned for Sorahiko to explain.
"Shimura Kotarou was the son of my late friend and fellow pro-hero, Shimura Nana. After her husband got killed by a villain who wanted to hurt her in the worst ways possible, Nana gave her only son up for adoption to protect him. She even made me and her disciple, Toshinori, swear to never get into contact with him so that he would not be targeted by the villain," explained Sorahiko who then grimaced and added, "In hindsight, we should have at least kept an eye on him and his family."
"I'm… truly sorry to hear that," said Inko who could not imagine how much pain Nana had suffered to not only lose her husband but also give up her own son as well, never mind how the son and most of his own family died so horrifically in the end.
"That's not the worst part, I'm afraid," said Toshinori who was clearly grieving.
Nedzu sighed as he explained, "We suspect that the person who killed the majority of the Shimura family and destroyed Jaku General Hospital might actually be the youngest son, Shimura Tenko."
Horrified, Izuku asked, "What makes you so sure it's him?"
"Shimura Tenko was five years old when the rest of his family died and their entire house was reduced to an ash-filled ruin," replied Nedzu who then turned his attention towards Eri and added, "Tragic accidents caused by the manifestation of powerful or dangerous quirks are not unheard of even back then."
Eri wore a heartbroken expression as she spoke softly, "He's… like me then." Curze held Eri comfortingly as she knew that Eri's tragedy began when her quirk manifested for the first time and resulted in the unintended death of her own father.
"Unfortunately, assuming that Tenko was indeed the one who had both killed his own family and destroyed the hospital, it can be assumed that no one truly tried to save him nor stop his descent into villainy," said Nedzu.
"We don't have any concrete proof but, between the similarities of both incidents and the fact that there is absolutely no record of anyone who has a quirk that can turn something into ash, we simply cannot ignore the possibility of him being the one responsible," said Sorahiko while clenching his fists.
A moment of silence passed before Izuku said remorsefully, "I'm truly sorry for causing you all so much pain."
Toshinori smiled in spite of his grief and said, "None of us blame you for bringing up the news article to us. If anything, we're grateful for your help in the investigation."
Sorahiko nodded and said, "At the very least, getting that information from you is better than getting it from a villain who wants to break us with words."
Dorn nodded and said, "I can certainly agree to that."
"There's more to the story, isn't there?" asked Lion.
Toshinori nodded and asked, "Nedzu has informed me that you all know at least a little bit about All For One."
Icarian nodded and said, "He has asked me to find out if he will try to kill All Might, Lorgar or both in the future. He has also told me that I can share the information with everyone whom I trust." She then turned her attention towards Izuku and said, "Izuku helped to fill in as many gaps as he could even if they were mostly rumours and urban legends."
Guilliman asked, "You think that All For One might have taken Tenko in don't you?"
"All For One is a sadistic as… a-word to say the least," said Sorahiko who had to remind himself to watch his language around Eri. He then added, "He will not hesitate to turn children into his own pawns if doing so will help him achieve his objectives such as breaking the wills of his enemies."
Izuku turned his attention towards Toshinori and asked, "You fought him before, didn't you?"
Surprised by Izuku's rhetorical question, Toshinori spat out a bit of blood and asked, "W-what makes you say that, Midoriya-shounen?"
"You said that you needed to retire because you got hurt while fighting a terrible enemy. Judging by the way you and Torino-san talk about All For One, it's not difficult to imagine that you two know him because he was your enemy and he was the one who hurt you," answered Izuku.
In spite of the grim atmosphere, Nedzu chuckled and said, "You're certainly not entirely wrong, Midoriya-kun. That being said, your information is neither complete nor entirely correct." He then turned his attention towards Toshinori and said, "Yagi-kun, I think it's time that you put your trust in them."
Toshinori seemed uncertain but ultimately agreed with Nedzu as he sighed and said, "There's… something that I need to reveal to you all. However, just as you have kept the truth of the Imperium and the Emperor a secret from the rest of the world, what I'm about to show you all must be kept a secret as well."
"It's the fact that you're All Might, aren't you?" asked Lion.
Once again, Toshinori spat out blood due to being shocked while Inko and Izuku stared at Lion as though she had grown a second head like a certain Kairos Fateweaver. Eri tilted head head questioningly as she recalled that All Might was supposed to be a huge muscular man, not the skeletal man who was talking to them at the moment.
Toshinori wiped the blood on his mouth before he asked, "H-how…?"
"You have the exact same weak point as All Might and have pretty much confirmed that you faced a terrible enemy that grievously wounded you in the past. It's not exactly difficult to put the rest of the pieces into place," explained Lion.
Russ nodded and said, "You and All Might have the exact same scent, including the smell of your own blood."
Agron crossed her arms over her chest and and said, "No matter what form you take, the emotions that you feel will not change completely."
Sanguinius smiled at All Might and said, "We have our suspicions, but we knew better than to press the issue as you must have your own reasons to keep your true form a secret from everyone."
A moment of silence passed before Toshinori chuckled weakly and said, "You're right." He then transformed into his muscular heroic form and said, "I am indeed All Might."
Both Izuku and Inko were close to fainting from both shock and awe while Khan asked, "That form you're taking now, you have trouble maintaining it, don't you?"
Toshinori nodded before he turned back to his skeletal form with a puff of smoke. He then pulled up his shirt to reveal a scar on the left side of his body and explained, "When I fought All For One, he destroyed part of my respiratory system and my entire stomach. As a result of this injury, I can only work as All Might between two and a half to three hours as of now."
Dorn turned her attention towards Nedzu and asked, "Is this why you wanted us to create a functional incubator for replacement organs?"
Nedzu nodded and said, "As I have explained before, mechanical prosthetics may not always be compatible with a person's body due to his or her quirk." He smiled bitterly and added, "Can you imagine a mechanical prosthetic that is compatible with Yagi-kun?"
Ferrus frowned and said, "While it's not completely impossible to create artificial prosthetic organs that are somehow compatible with him, creating such organs would take a lot of time, resources and testing. In comparison, a cloned set of organs made from his cells will be considerably simpler to implant with far fewer complications."
Vulkan nodded and said, "The incubator is almost ready but, given how busy we are lately, it will take a bit more time before we can grow any replacement organs for him."
"That's quite all right. I share your opinion that preventing people from getting hurt in the first place is preferable," said Nedzu.
Curze asked, "Do you need me and Icarian to use our quirks?"
"Yes, but that can wait until later. It's best that we have both Sir Nighteye and Naomasa-kun present," replied Nedzu. While Curze was currently unable to see beyond a single standard Earth-day, her ability to see into a possible future in great detail and with reasonable accuracy easily put her on par with Mirai (a.k.a. Sir Nighteye) and Icarian in terms of precognitive abilities.
Corax frowned and asked, "I know that we're not allowed to go out there and hunt down Lorgar until we get our provisional pro-hero licenses but it is not possible for us to at least contribute more to the to cause?"
Guilliman nodded and said, "While our alliance with Magnus' group is working so far, there's no guarantee that they, or the law enforcers of this world for that matter, will be able to find and stop Lorgar in time."
Sorahiko frowned and said, "Don't get me wrong, getting more eyes out there will certainly be good but being discreet is vital if we do not want any of the villains, including Lorgar and her cult, to take notice."
"There are also the civilians to consider. An increase in surveillance in response to a tragedy like the destruction of Jaku General Hospital and the formation of a new group of violent villains is one thing but, if we take it too far, they will surely get agitated," said Toshinori.
"Maintaining an illusion of safety and security will do no one any good if Lorgar succeeds in forming a powerful Chaos cult," argued Lion.
"True, but agitated people are more likely to make rash or foolish decisions," replied Nedzu who then glanced at Izuku and added, "Including decisions that may very well cause them to side with the very villains we have tried to protect them from."
Reminded of the fact that Izuku's former childhood friend was missing and likely became one of Lorgar's cultists, Lion was stoically silent as she realised that Nedzu had a point.
"That being said, I'm not opposed to listening to suggestions on locating and stopping Lorgar so feel free to inform me if you have any ideas," said Nedzu.
While the former primarchs, Nedzu, Sorahiko and Toshinori continued with their discussion, Eri took notice of the fact that both Izuku and Inko were still seemingly petrified in place.
-End of flashback…-
Izuku blushed at the memory of himself gaping like an idiot for at least ten minutes before finally regaining his senses. He then recalled crying tears of joy during a certain conversation that took place soon after the meeting.
-Start of second flashback…-
"Y-Yagi-sensei, D-do you think that someone quirkless like me will ever be worthy of being considered a hero by anyone?" asked Izuku while bracing himself for the worst.
Toshinori thought about Izuku's question for a moment before he said, "If you had asked me whether you could ever be a great hero like All Might, I would have to regretfully say, 'No.' Like it or not, even strong heroes can get hurt or killed and, no matter how skilled or well-trained you are, your very best may not always be enough to save everyone and people will surely judge you for trying to be a hero in spite of lacking a quirk."
Izuku could feel his shoulders slump as he knew that Toshinori had a point. Still, as painful as the truth was, at least the pro-hero did not outright say that he could not be a hero at all.
"That being said, there is a difference between a 'great hero' and a 'true hero'," said Toshinori who then smiled at Izuku as he explained, "Although you lack power, I have never seen you back down from sparring with those far stronger than yourself nor have I ever seen you become too disheartened by your losses. Even though you have suffered unjust discrimination for years, I can tell from the way you have interacted with the people around you that you have neither lost your capacity for kindness nor your drive to help others. Therefore, while I cannot honestly say that you have the strength of a great hero in spite of being quirkless, I can say with absolute certainty that you have the determination, bravery and compassion of a true hero." Tears welled up in Izuku's eyes as Toshinori added, "Had the hero-rankings focused on good character rather than fame and might, I have a feeling that you'll be overqualified for any position below the top 100."
Izuku fell to his knees as he wept in the simple joy that Toshinori, the man who had been his idol for years, believed that he had what it took to be a genuine hero. Little did the two realise that their conversation was being observed by a number of people, including a few business course students who had managed to record it.
When the video recording got posted online, it became a world-wide viral hit in less than twenty-four hours.
-Back to the present, again…-
"School was certainly awkward for a while after that," thought Izuku as he recalled how many students at U.A. High School, especially the ones who sparred with him and the former primarchs regularly, treated him more kindly than usual. That was not even counting the fact that so many people, especially quirkless individuals like the daughter of a renowned inventor, Melissa Shield, voiced her support to his dream of becoming a pro-hero.
Thankfully, the awkward period had long since passed so Izuku could focus on his training to pass the entrance exams. Although he still planned to take the entrance exams for the hero course, as well as the entrance exam for the support course as an alternative, he had considered joining Class V with the former primarchs as he was reluctant to be separated from them. Nedzu, who understood Izuku's past mistreatment back at Aldera Junior High due to being quirkless, agreed to let him attend Class V with the former primarchs for his first year but informed him that he would likely be required to change to another class during his second year since he had neither been a villain nor a vigilante. Izuku accepted the terms as he knew that he was Class V was meant to reform vigilantes and villains.
On a side note, Dorn, Vulkan and Ferrus decided to take part in lessons meant for the support course while Guilliman decided to take part in lessons meant for the business course. The rest of the former primarchs, unsurprisingly, decided to take part in lessons that were meant for the hero course. Of course, much like Izuku, they had to pass their own respective entrance exams to be eligible for the lessons.
Before long, inside a building meant for hero training known as Gym Gamma, Izuku started sparring with Angron although it would be more accurate to say that Izuku was trying to hit Angron at least once while she deflected all of his attacks with seemingly no effort. He wielded a naginata-like metal staff which had a tip that was moulded to resemble a bokken (Japanese wooden sword ) while Angron wielded two metal axes that were blunt enough to resemble unusually-shaped hammers instead. Sharing the same training field with the two were Corax and Curze who were also sparring. Both former primarchs were wielding bladed gauntlets which had blunt metallic blades. Suddenly, Curze saw an opening and charged towards Izuku before Corax could stop her. Izuku sensed the incoming attack and quickly turned his focus onto Curze to deflect the incoming attack with his naginata-like staff. Although Izuku was barely able to protect himself from the first attack, he was sent flying due to Curze's superior physical strength. While airborne, Izuku noted how Corax switched targets to Angron who took her attacks a lot more seriously by actively trying to attack her while blocking her attacks. He did not give the two his full attention though as he spun in mid-air and barely blocked another attack from Curze. Well aware that Curze could have overwhelmed him with rapid attacks if she was serious, Izuku nevertheless tried his best to maintain his guard as she pushed him onto the ground. Izuku rolled onto the ground to reduce the impact of getting knocked down before getting into a kneeling position to defend himself. Curze did not hesitate as she continued to attack him with her training bladed gauntlets, her attacks just slow enough to avoid causing excessive damage to the quirkless boy during a training exercise.
As the four sparring combatants continued to fight, Vulkan, Dorn, Sanguinius and Eri entered the gym and walked towards them. While they had noticed the four approaching, there was something a bit odd as Eri was clearly trying her best to stay hidden behind Sanguinius' wings.
Before long, Curze was able to score a win by pressing the tips of her bladed gauntlet onto Izuku's neck. Recognising his defeat, Izuku fell onto his backside and asked, "Is it just me or am I fighting even longer than before?"
Curze smirked at Izuku, who was understandably exhausted, and said, "No, it's not just you and I wasn't going any easier on your compared to the last times I've sparred with you. You've just gotten a little bit better at surviving my attacks, that's all."
Seeing that Izuku had lost, Corax and Angron stopped sparring as well and the former said, "You've done well to avoid getting taken out by Curze's initial attacks even if she was holding back at the time."
Angron nodded and said, "You're also a lot less hesitant and predictable in your movements when attacking me compared to the first time you sparred with me."
Izuku chuckled and said, "Doesn't change the fact that I've so much more to go if I want to be even a tenth as good as any of you."
"You might be closer to that point that you think, at least in terms of skill," said Sanguinius as she got close enough to talk to Izuku.
"Why's Eri hiding behind your wings?" asked Curze who was both curious and a little concerned. After all, Eri usually had no reason to hide from her or the other residents of the Imperial Dorm.
Sanguinius' smile became unmistakably impish as she turned her attention towards the little girl behind her and asked, "Eri, would you like to show everyone here what Vulkan, Dorn and I have made for you?" Eri's head popped out from behind Sanguinius' left wing and nodded shyly.
Before Izuku, Angron, Corax or Curze could ask any questions, Eri suddenly leapt out of from hiding. Their eyes widened as they realised that she was dressed in what seemed to be a well-made replica of an 'Adaptus Astartes' power armour with a midnight-blue primary colour. The armour, which was clearly made from cured foam that had been meticulously crafted by a seemingly professional hand, was also adorned with painted carvings of cutesy "chibified" skulls that had crimson-red wings attached onto them. In short, Eri was dressed like a loyalist Night Lord as she raised her hands up together like a provoked red panda and roared, "Gao! I'm scary little Night Lady!"
The effect was immediate as Izuku, Angron, Corax and even Curze felt their hearts clench painfully at the sight of Eri trying her best to be intimidating and shared one thought, "By the Emperor, she's so cute!"
Needless to say, Eri was the undisputed winner of the sparring match due to being able to temporarily incapacitate even former primarchs with her cuteness. Yes, even Sanguinius, Vulkan and Dorn experienced a bit of 'cuteness overload' from Eri.
After recovering from Eri's cuteness, Curze turned her attention towards Vulkan and asked, "I assume that she asked you to make the armour for her?"
Vulkan grinned and said, "Pretty much. Ferrus could have volunteered but she's not exactly experienced with the foam we used to make the 'cosplay armour'." She almost snickered at the memory of Ferrus scratching her head sheepishly after crushing some pieces of foam into paper-thin sheets with her metallic hands.
"Eri's much too small to wear any actual armour anyway," said Dorn.
"Why a Night Lord though?" asked Corax who then added, "Surely it would be more appropriate to have her wear the power armour of an 'Adepta Sororitas'."
"Perhaps, but Eri wanted to wear the same power armour as the one who saved her," said Vulkan who then smirked at Curze and added, "Plus, there's no way I'd miss a chance to tease the Night Haunter."
As stated before, primarchs were supposed to be fearless superhuman beings. However, Curze felt dread crawl down her spine as she asked Vulkan, "What did you do?"
"Oh, nothing too bad. I just made sure that Dorn took a video recording of your reaction to Eri's cuteness before sharing it with everyone else who lives at the Imperial Dorm," said Vulkan. Dorn an unmistakable smirk on her face as she revealed a small camera in her right hand.
Mortified by the implication, Curze was tempted to throttle both Vulkan and Dorn for the humiliation. However, between acknowledging her own past sins and realising that doing so would upset Eri, Curze instead grumbled while blushing, "All right, you win this one, Vulkan."
Vulkan had been a bit smug for the rest of the day while Guilliman and even Lion gave her thumbs ups.
-Later that day, at Jin's apartment…-
Magnus had just finished giving her latest report to Nedzu concerning the League of Chaos Undivided. It was clear that the league was currently in conflict with All For One as there had been confirmed sightings of monsters with exposed brains known as noumus attacking it. While the league had been successful in surviving the attacks thus far, it was thankfully less successful in obtaining new members. As luck would have it, the majority of the villains who had formed small gangs refused to join the league and got killed in a variety of brutal and disturbing ways as a result. However, with each new murder or crime committed by the league, its infamy and likelihood of successfully getting new cult members would only grow.
In spite of Magnus and her group, known as the Penites Imperialis, putting in their best effort, it was simply impossible to go after Lorgar and the rest of her cult as they could relocate at any moment due to having a villain named Kurogiri, who could create warp portals, on their side. The fact that the league remained small and highly mobile, partly due to All For One sending noumus or mercenaries to attack them wherever they went, made it all the more difficult for Magnus and the rest of the Penites Imperialis to execute any plans to attack or infiltrate the league. As a result, the Penites Imperialis was limited to getting information about the League of Chaos Undivided and then send the said information to Nedzu.
Magnus sighed as she thought, "Might as well as call Izuku, again."
Ever since the Penites Imperialis obtained the micro beads from Shouta, they had been using them to not only keep in touch with Nedzu but also communicate with Izuku. One unexpected benefit of getting in touch with the quirkless boy was the chance to have a word with at least a few of the former primarchs who lived in the Imperial Dorm with him. While most of the former primarchs who lived there were still unwilling to talk to them unless it was information about Lorgar, there were a few exceptions including Angron, Curze and Icarian.
Although Magnus would not readily admit it, being in contact with Izuku and the few former primarchs who were willing to talk to her and the others gave her a sense of genuine hope for possible reconciliation. Oh, she knew that she had done many terrible things, both intentional and otherwise, but she still hoped that her continued refusal to fall back to the clutches of Chaos would be enough to earn even a chance of redemption.
As the line connected, Magnus waited for a few seconds before Izuku answered it, "Hello, who is speaking at the moment?"
"Its me," answered Magnus.
"Oh, hello Magnus," said Izuku who then added, "It's a good thing you've decided to call right now. Curze's been wanting to ask you something."
Surprised, Magnus asked, "Has she? Did she explain why?"
"Yes, but neither me nor An-chan are the best at answering that particular question," replied Izuku who then said, "Please wait for a moment while I pass the line to her."
While Magnus waited, she took a moment to look at Gwalchavad, Perturabo, Fulgrim, Mortarion, Alpharius, Omegon and Jin. Due to her telepathic abilities, she could broadcast her thoughts to them in real time while she spoke over the micro bead so that there would be minimal need to repeat herself to them. As such, they knew that Curze wanted to ask her something and were just as curious as she was.
Before long, Curze picked up the line and asked, "Magnus, have you been able to see into the immaterium lately?"
"Yes, but, partly due to my currently limited capabilities, I've been unable to use it to locate Lorgar and her cult," replied Magnus.
"I'm not asking about Lorgar and her damned League of Chaos Undivided," replied Curze.
"Then what do you want to ask that's related to the immaterium?" asked Magnus.
Curze seemed to hesitate for a moment before she asked, "Assuming that there are warp entities in this version of the immaterium, do you think that they might be vastly different from the ones we know of back in our original universe?"
"It's certainly possible," said Magnus who then asked, "Why are you asking that question though?"
"I just have the feeling that there might actually be a warp entity, if not an actual warp god, of cuteness around here," said Curze.
For what could be a few seconds, or a few aeons, Magnus and everyone else around her were dumbstruck by Curze's claim. Even by the standards of their original universe, the idea of a warp deity of cuteness was nothing short of absurd. After closing her gaping mouth, Magnus asked, "Wha… what makes you even consider that possibility?"
Curze sighed as she replied, "Earlier today… I saw Eri trying to act frightening by posing like a red panda while dressed in a small 'cosplay version' of a loyalist Night Lord power armour. It was… almost too much cuteness for my heart to bear."
Magnus' single functional eye twitched as she took in the information and conjured a mental image of Eri being dressed as a little Night Lord space marine and doing the 'red panda pose'. She then said, "Okay… I can see how that might be seen as cute but I think blaming that on a literal warp god of cuteness is a bit absurd."
"It if was the only reason to suspect the presence of such a deity, you'd probably be right," agreed Curze who then added, "However, what about our current forms? The last time I checked, we weren't exactly young maidens when we died back in our original universe."
"You're assuming that a deity of cuteness decided to somehow make us cuter by turning us into girls," said Magnus who honestly found the idea rather silly. After all, even the likes of Sanguinius and Fulgrim were beautiful instead of adorable in their current forms.
"It's true that it's a bit of a stretch but what other reason can there be for all of us to be girls here unless it was really by absurdly sheer random chance?" asked Curze.
Magnus was about to give an answer when she realised that she honestly did not have one to debunk Curze's claim. She then sighed as she spoke, "Okay, you might have a point about the absurd chance of all of us being reborn as girls here but, if that god was actually real, I think we'd all notice its presence here by now."
"You're probably right," admitted Curze who doubted a "local warp deity" would allow someone like Lorgar bring the influence of dark gods from another universe into the alternate version of Terra.
"Just don't get too obsessed about it, okay? The last thing we need is you going back to your… 'bad habits'," said Magnus.
Curze snorted and said, "I can say the same for you and the rest of the Penites Imperialis. Still, if it doesn't get in the way of stopping Lorgar and her cult, it might be a good idea to be vigilant of warp entities that are unlike the ones we are used to dealing with."
"I'll keep that in mind," said Magnus.
"Do you need to speak to Izuku or anyone else?" asked Curze.
"No, I think you have given me and the others enough to think about right now," said Magnus.
"Very well, until next time," said Curze before she disconnected the call.
A short while later, Fulgrim shook her head and said, "A warp god of cuteness. Never thought I would ever hear any of us, let alone Curze, talk about it so seriously."
Perturabo huffed and said, "Personally, I think Curze and Angron have simply gone soft."
"Still, the idea of facing warp entities that we have never met before is something that should be considered," said Alpharius.
"If only because the immaterium here has been unusually calm even after Lorgar had formed her cult," said Omegon.
"While I appreciate the lack of warp sorcery on this version of Terra, I must admit that the absence of local warp entities is strange to say the least," said Mortarion.
Gwalchavad frowned and said, "Perhaps the warp gods on this version of the immaterium have simply not taken notice?"
Magnus shook her head and said, "Even if they had failed to notice all twenty, if not twenty-one, of us entering this world, whatever ritual Lorgar used to empower her cultists would have been simply too significant to not notice." She recalled feeling dread as she sensed the familiar fel powers of the Dark Gods on two occasions, one of which happened on the day that Jaku General Hospital was destroyed.
"Maybe this version of the immaterium doesn't have those warp-dudes because there's no big war like that 'War in Heaven' you have talked about," suggested Jin who then contradicted himself, "No, they're everywhere and we're simply too blind to notice them!"
"Well, this is an alternate version of our universe so it's certainly not impossible," said Magnus.
"I wonder if the C'Tan are absent in this universe as well," said Fulgrim who recalled the time when a perfected clone of her past self was betrayed by Fabius Bile and became one of the exhibits of a certain infamous necron overlord known as Trazyn. She also recalled Ferrus telling her how, after facing a powerful entity of presumably Necron origins, her hands became metallic during the early years of her past life.
"All this speculation of alternate warp entities and the possible absence of the C'Tan is a waste of time," said Perturabo who then added, "We should be focusing on making sure that the Dark Gods do not spread their influence here."
"Easier said than done when Lorgar and her cult have the ability to constantly relocate like damned Aeldari," growled Mortarion.
"At least our contacts have been cooperative with us and do not support the League of Chaos Undivided," said Magnus. After the destruction of Jaku General Hospital, Danjuurou, Manami and Kenji were convinced that stopping the league would be in their best interests as well. Kenji had even received word from a certain middled-aged broker with squinted-looking pink eyes, short grey hair, a small moustache, a goatee and a missing front tooth named Giran that a "very rich individual" had put a bounty on the heads of the members who made up the League of Chaos Undivided. Magnus was willing to bet that part of the reason why the league had not gotten any new members thus far was because of the said bounty.
Gwalchavad nodded and said, "While that is certainly true, we might need to increase our number of contacts before long."
"We have been keeping an eye out for potential allies while searching for Lorgar and her cult," said Alpharius.
"We believe that they may be of use to us," said Omegon.
Magnus nodded and said, "One of you two and I will go and meet at least one of them tomorrow. The more allies we have, the higher our chances of finally getting a fixed location on Lorgar and her cult."
Perturabo, who had been building a functional drone surveillance system, said, "I should be able to set up the drone system at Manami's place before the end of this week." Left unsaid was how thrilled Manami and Danjuurou were to be able to use the surveillance system for their own purposes when Perturabo was not using it. In spite of being affiliated with the Penites Imperialis and sincerely wanting a chance to be proper pro-heroes, both Manami and Danjuurou were allowed to act more or less independently as long as they did not jeopardise the mission to find and stop Lorgar and her cult. That being said, the two of them had been acting more like vigilantes rather than minor villains lately.
Jin, who had been helping the vigilante group by producing a clone of Alpharius and Omegon every time they set off to locate the League of Chaos Undivided, asked, "How are you going to control them though?" He then said, "With extreme LEET skills of course!"
Perturabo smirked as she spoke, "Let's just say that cybernetic neural implants are not the only way to control machines, especially of the simpler sort."
-In the primarchs' original universe…-
Miracles, by their very nature, were rare events which would at times seem ridiculously inconceivable.
Having entire Night Lord warbands suddenly lose the will to kill and torture innocent imperial civilians, even if only temporarily, would certainly count as inconceivably miraculous. As for the reason for their sudden loss of murderous desire, namely a brief vision of Eri trying her best to imitate a Night Lord, it could certainly be considered as utterly ridiculous. That was not even counting the fact that the Night Lords who had seen the vision were, for the lack of a better term, actually embarrassed by it.
Under normal circumstances, the Imperial Inquisition would have considered interrogating the sanctioned Cult of Guardians for details about the vision. Those who despised Eri's status as an abhuman were especially eager to "zealously uphold the sanctity of the Imperial Cult" and even went so far as to accuse her of heresy. However, given the fact that Sanguinius, Dorn and Vulkan were personally involved in making the pseudo-armour of a loyalist Night Lord for her, there was honestly little logical reason to consider Eri's action as genuinely heretical.
The fact that the Grey Knights, the Adaptus Custodes, the Adepta Sororitas and the space marines of the Blood Angels, Salamanders, Imperial Fists, Raven Guard and their collective successor chapters were united in their desire to somehow protect Eri's honour certainly cowed even the most spiteful of imperial inquisitors to meek compliance. Even the Ultramarines, the Dark Angels and their respective successor chapters had voiced their support towards Eri if only because the young abhuman had succeeded in actually making the reincarnation of Curze herself feel genuine embarrassment.
On a side note, warbands of khornate World Eaters also saw the vision. Unlike the Night Lords, they flew into a blind rage and started slamming their heads against the hardest objects they could find including: the blunt sides of their own weapons, the helmets of other space marines, walls, tanks and, in one memorable incident, the feet of a moving imperial titan. While imperial casualties were still high, as expected with any confrontation with khornate World Eaters, there was no doubt that it would have been worse if the traitorous space marines had been more focused on killing instead of bashing their own heads. Interrogations of captured World Eaters would reveal that they were purging their minds of the vision which was making them feel emotions other than hatred. A widely accepted theory was that, similar to the Night Lords, they felt embarrassment and simply did not know any other "suitably khornate" way of handling the emotion other than bashing their heads against something hard.
Although Khorne was a god of hatred and murder, even he understood shame as he slapped his hand onto his face while Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Nurgle laughed at his recent misfortune.
-End Chapter-
Author's Notes:
I have seen both Chapter 381 of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and the Corvus Corax update of the 'Genderbent Primarchs' series [Relevant link: /cnmbwjx/status/1628939875482505217]. As such, I am now essentially obligated by Imperial Law to get the two together as friends if not as more.
As for the warp deity of cuteness, I read a 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' fanfiction story called 'BNHA-TTS' recently and could not resist writing about one of the ideas presented in the story [Relevant link: s/13589627/1/BNHA-TTS]. No, there is no warp deity of cuteness in this one and I have no plans to include the said deity.
Also, while I have heard of the obscene level of authority that the Imperial Inquisiton possesses, I doubt even they will dare to piss off so many powerful imperial factions, especially the custodes.
The next chapter will be the exam arc. I am pretty sure that the arc will be over in just one chapter.
Until next time, go beyond, plus ultra!
