The Josephine Railway has been running along at a good pace. With the coal shipments, passengers, as well as mixed varieties of goods. With Braedey back alongside the team, things seemed to get back to normality, with Shadow and Madeline helping out every now and then.
After a few weeks, Belle was sad she was going to leave and head back to her railway. But, to her surprise, Mr. Franklin informed to the LBSCR E1 that he had just purchased her off her old owner. Belle was rather shocked by this. She thanked the manager for this, and she was given the railway crest. Soon enough, Belle was happy to work around the shunting yards and coaling yard, and she helped out as best to her abilities.
On a Saturday morning, Belle was down at the coaling yard, collecting trucks of coal for the journey up to Marion. She enjoyed the sounds, the smell, and the sights of the coal trucks and such. She smiled to Max, who honked his horn to her, and Belle headed off down the line with her train of coal trucks. Belle made her way along the line, soon stopping by a signal not far down the tracks. Belle looked to the signal, just as the sound of a rumbling engine got her attention. She looked to one of the fields to her right, and she could see a yellow tractor rolling up to her with a smile on his face.
The tractor goes by the name of Greyson. He is a 1939 Caterpillar Twenty-Two utility tractor, painted in bright yellow with yellow treads. He has an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, giving him good torque and power. He has a single leather seat, no cab, and tall exhaust pipe.
"Hello, Belle." Greyson greeted to the LB E1. "It's a nice day for it, isn't it?" He asked.
Belle was confused by what Greyson asked her. "A nice day for what?" She asked to the tractor.
"One of Mr. Franklin's daughters. She is getting married today." Greyson informed, now reversing from the fence, heading off to plough the fields.
Belle was excited. "I see! That does sound great." With a toot of her whistle, she began to make her way down the line, a smile on her face.
Soon, Belle was passing by a large house nearby the line. This was Mr. Franklin's summer home by the line. It was mostly used by the family to be closer to the line, and be of easier access than all of them living up in the city of Carlisle, about 65 kilometres away. But, as Belle was getting close, she saw someone by the fence, waving a red flag to the steam engine. Belle began to slow to a stop, as the person by the fence ran up to the LB E1 locomotive.
The person goes by the name of Jane. She's one of the young daughters of Mr. Franklin. She has golden blonde hair in a ponytail reaching down to below her shoulders, having a little white flower in her hair, while having some strands framing her face, with bright blue eyes, and white skin. She was around 13 or 14 years old. She has a small body shape and form, standing around 5ft tall, maybe a little less. She is wearing a white knee-length dress that leaves her shoulders bare, and she is barefooted.
"Hello. What's the matter?" Belle's driver asked to Jane.
"I'm afraid I've got some bad news. My mother forgot to get the good-luck package for the bride." Jane said to the driver and Belle.
Belle was confused for a moment. "A good-luck package? What's that, exactly?" She asked.
"It's a little something that all weddings have." Jane explained. "It has four things, each one being like so; something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." She clarified.
Belle wasn't too sure of how she could help out with this, but she gave a reassuring smile. With a whistle, the LBSCR E1 locomotive headed off down the line with her coal train.
A few minutes later, Belle arrived at Marion Station and yards. She uncoupled herself from the trucks, and she headed over to the water tower to take on more water. Belle then noticed Braedey sitting by the platform, waiting for the wedding guests to arrive so he'll take them down to where the church was down the line.
"Braedey. I've got a problem." Belle spoke up, getting his attention. "I'm looking for a good-luck package. Do you know what we need to find?" She asked.
"Oh, that's easy." Braedey replied back. "My driver told me about them. It has four things; something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." He counted them off.
Belle cut in. "But, where can we find them?" She asked.
Braedey thought about something, then had an idea. "How about we do this; I'll go and take care of the package, and you can go take the guests to the wedding." He suggested to Belle.
"Okay. Thanks. Good idea." Belle smiled.
A few moments later, the two engines switched their trains around, and they soon went on their way: Belle taking the guests to the wedding, while Braedey headed off to Barrow-in-Furness with Belle's goods.
With Braedey, he arrived down at the shunting yards of Barrow-in-Furness, dropping off his goods train, and he shunted the train into a siding. He was also looking around for anything that could be used for the wedding.
Braedey then spotted a flatbed wagon. Sitting on top of the flatbed was none other than a red Ferrari 458 Italia sportscar. It was very shiny and ready for action.
The Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engine sportscar from the Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. The car is powered by a 4.5L V8 engine, generating a power output of 562hp. The offical official 0–100km/h (62mph) acceleration is 3.4 seconds, and the top speed is 211mph (339km/h).
"Bingo! There. Something brand-new." Braedey called in.
"You're right, old boy." Braedey's driver smiled, looking to the supercar. "That supercar is just the ticket. I'll go speak with the foreman." He made his way over to a man in charge, and began to talk to him. He came back rather quickly. "The foreman said we can take the flatbed truck as well. That's two things off the list; something new, and something borrowed."
"What about the other two parts of the package?" Braedey asked to his driver.
"We'll just have to keep going and look about." His driver replied back.
With that, and after the car was covered with a tarpaulin, Braedey headed back down the Josephine Railway with another goods train. He was now getting excited for the wedding, and helping out in any way he can. Later, Braedey arrived back at Marion station and shunting yards. He shunted the other trucks into their siding, as he moved the flatbed truck with the Ferrari over into a nearby track siding by the station.
"You looking for something, Braedey?" Max asked, rolling up with some box wagons to build up a heavy-goods train.
"Well, I'm looking for-" Braedey then saw what was an old yet restored brown/cream Pullman coach sitting down by the other coaches. "That! That's it!" He announced happily. "Perfect."
"What's 'it', exactly?" Max asked in confusion. He wondered why Braedey was excited.
"I'm doing the good-luck package for the wedding." Braedey soon explained about what Belle had told him regarding the wedding earlier, and with him finding the car and flatbed wagon for the package.
"Okay. Sounds like you've been having an exciting day." Max commented. "Well, I'm gonna meet up with the others down at the church down the line. Good luck on finding those parts for the package." With that, and a toot of his horn, he rumbled off down the line, Braedey watching him go.
"Okay. All we need to do is find something that is blue." Braedey said to his crew. Then, he had a thought. "But, who, what, or where?" He asked aloud.
"You'll see." His fireman replied with a smirk.
Sure enough, Braedey and his unusual train was underway. He now had the flatbed truck with the red Ferrari onboard, as well as the Pullman coach behind him, and they were making their way down the line. The GWR 4900 engine was more than excited for the wedding, but all the while, he wondered where to find the 'something blue' for the good-luck package.
Soon enough, Braedey arrived at a small town halt further down the railway line. He pulled up to a nearby station, coming to a halt, just as another engine pulled up on the opposite track, much to Braedey's surprise.
"What do you think of this, old boy?" Braedey's driver asked.
"Well, stone the crows." Braedey laughed. "Diana? What are you doing here?" He asked.
Diana was parked up opposite of Braedey. She was now polished up and cleaned, her brass and blue paint now shining brightly against the shimmer of sunlight. She also has a silver horseshoe up on her buffer beam.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm the 'something blue'." Diana smirked to Braedey. "Jane had asked me to be part of the good-luck package, and I'm happy that you got the rest of the package."
"Well, ain't that something." Braedey smiled, but was feeling left-out. He was happy to help out with the package, but he really wanted to meet up at the wedding ceremony to see it.
"Braedey. After hearing about what's happening, Mr. Franklin has made you and the other engines special guests to the wedding." Braedey's driver announced.
Braedey smiled happily, and he whistled in excitement. He was uncoupled from his train, pulling away, with Diana coupling up to the unusual train. Once done that, the Caledonian engine was on her way, Braedey following on after her, a white ribbon tied on his funnel stretching back to his cab.
Down a small rail-line towards the town, there was a small church set up along a small roadway, one that heads off to the town. There's also a set of rail sidings for coaches and trucks to be placed into.
Belle, Austin, Max, Shadow, and Madeline were all sitting in the sidings, waiting for everyone in the church to step out after the ceremony. As they waited, Diana and Braedey steamed up into view, the two whistling as they approached the church. The coach now had a lucky silver horseshoe on it, the Ferrari having the lucky silver horseshoe sitting on the hood.
About a minute goes by, then the bride and groom step out of the church with everyone else alongside them. As both Braedey and Diana pulled up, the other engines smiled at their arrival, as Mr. Franklin stepped up to address the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen." Mr. Franklin began to the crowd. "May I present to you the Good-Luck Package." He gestured a hand over to the Pullman coach, next to the Ferrari, then to the flatbed wagon, and finally to Diana. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." He then looked over and smiled to Braedey. "All of which found by Braedey and his crew."
The engines all whistled and tooted, as everyone cheered. Soon, the Ferrari was unloaded from the flatbed wagon, which the groom liked, while the others all had some lunch inside of the Pullman coach, and they all took pictures of the family.
After that, the bride walked up to the engines. "Thank you, Diana." She bowed her head. "And thank you, Braedey." She turned to the crimson engine. "This is the best good-luck package a bride could ask for." She then climbed up on Braedey's buffer-beam, and she kissed him on the cheek.
Diana and the other engines laughed, as Braedey's face blushes as bright red as his paintwork. He looked away in embarrassment, while Mr. Franklin and his family also smile and laugh alongside their engines.
Today was a very nice day for a trackside wedding.
That evening, the engines had returned to the sheds after today, all of them talking quietly about the whole wedding, as well as their own work. Both Shadow and Madeline have left for their respective railways earlier in the afternoon, and the engines hoped they could come back soon.
"Today was great." Belle whispered to Diana.
"Yes. It was nice to attend a wedding, and be a part of it." Diana agreed.
"And plus, we got some time off." Austin added in.
"I did enjoy that wedding." Braedey spoke up with a small smile.
"Did you like your kiss?" Diana teased to Braedey.
Braedey blushed up again in response to this question. He was still a bit embarrassed by what happened to him earlier today, the other engines all snickering and chatting to one another, and Braedey then pretended to be asleep.
