IA Inspector Rodriguez sat at a table in a small, bare apartment, looking at pictures of Prue, Piper and Phoebe. A ball of flame became a person or at least what appeared to be a person in his fifties.

Rodriguez was startled and exclaimed. "Tempus. I never..."

"Expected to see me? Of course not. You were not worthy before now. What is the name you are using here?"

"Rodriguez."

"Ah, yes. I have been sent to you, Rodriguez. As a gift."

"Sent? By who?"

"I think you know who and why."

"I can defeat the Charmed Ones on my own. I don't need any help." He insisted angrily.

"Really. What makes you think you have actually found the Charmed Ones?"

"Are you kidding? After so many of our colleagues have mysteriously vanished in San Francisco this year. There can only be one reason why. I posed as a cop as I believed that one was covering for them. I was right, he was. That's how I found them. Of course, you already know all that, don't you. That's what makes me so worthy now, right?"

"Watch your tongue, Rodriguez, lest I split it for you. It's one thing to have found the Charmed Ones, it's quite another to defeat them as those who have gone before you have already discovered. Tomorrow is Wednesday. I want you to get all three witches together in one place by midnight and give it your best shot. But if you fail..."

"I will not fail."

"Well, if you do, I'll be there to help you learn by your failures. Trust me. Now, how do you expect to get them together?"

"Trudeau."

Xander and Cordelia tentatively knocked on the Halliwell's door a few days later, Cordelia once again coughing the baby blanket in her arms, the symbol carefully folded out of sight. Phoebe opened the door and motioned them in.

"How's Piper?" Cordelia asked before they did anything else.

"She and Leo's talk was upsetting, but at least we understand why he left before. How are you doing? Finding out you have a previously unknown power can be freaksome. I speak from experience."

"I know, we need to talk to you all. After talking to my parents some information has come to light that may involve you girls."

"Us, how?"

"I'll explain once everyone is together." Cordelia promised.

"Okay, come into the conservatory." Xander and Cordelia followed Phoebe as she called for her sisters, who didn't take long to respond.

"What's up?" Piper asked, a good cry and few good night's sleep had gotten her over the initial hump and she was ready for a new mystery.

"We talked to my parents to see if they knew anything about how I could have powers." Cordelia began, after taking a seat in one of the couches. "We didn't get to the part about me having powers because they told me I'm adopted, which is something they meant to discuss with me before, but because of the way Sunnydale is, they forgot."

"Adopted, huh?" Phoebe put her hand on Cordelia's arm. "Not the best way to find out." She said sympathetically. "Were they able to tell you about your birth parents? The power must come from one of your family lines."

"Well they told me I was left at a church with a nun. A church here in San Francisco actually. The Cathedral.

"The big old gothic church with all the gargoyles on it?" Prue asked.

"Yes." Xander confirmed. "We asked Andy to help us track down the nun and it turns out, she's still a part of the Cathedral. So we went to talk to her. Cordelia's birth parents told her they left a gift for her and a request."

"What's the request?" Prue asked.

"That my name include a name that begins with the letter p, which is why my middle name is Pearl."

"The letter p?!" Piper exclaimed. "What was the gift?"

Cordelia unfolded the blanket and showed them the symbol embroidered on it.

"Our baby blanket!" Prue exclaimed. "I haven't seen that since Phoebe was a baby! You're saying your mother left this with you?"

"Yes." Cordelia nodded. "And there's more. The nun told us my birth parents were angels, they arrived in a swirl of white lights."

"Oh my God!" Piper yelped. "You're saying you're part whitelighter?!"

"Given what Leo told you about his bosses rules," Xander said. "if Cordy's birth mother is a witch, than they broke those rules and they gave her up because they were afraid of what his bosses might do."

"If this is our baby blanket," Prue said. "then our mother is also your mother. And she never told us we had a sister, Grams either."

"Can I see the blanket?" Phoebe asked. "I might be able to get a vision, maybe something that helps explain." Cordelia hesitantly held it out, she very much wanted to hold onto it, to feel that connection to the woman who gave birth to her. Phoebe jerked as she touched the blanket, a sure sign of a vision

"What did you see, Phoebe?" Prue asked anxiously.

"Mom crying while a man I don't recognize held her."

"I think we need to talk to Mom." Piper said determinedly. "There's a spell I saw in the Book of Shadows to call a spirit to talk to them."

"I agree." Prue said grimly. "We all need answers."

The Halliwell's, along with Xander and Cordelia, headed up to the attic, where they soon found the spell. After arranging five site candles in a circle and lighting them, the Halliwell's recited the spell.

'Hear these words,

Hear my cry,

Spirit from the other side,

Come to me,

I summon thee,

Cross now the great divide

A figure appeared in the circle of candles.
