After the disbandment of the right-wing organisation known as the 'D.G.S.S.E', otherwise known as the 'Diesel Group for Scrap of Steamies Engines', who had the intention of scrapping engines, regardless if they're steam, diesel, or electric, more information was given to the public about this group and the connections of them with Dr. Richard Beeching and British Railways, which gave the company a bad image and were given some serious backlash.

All the while, the engines of the North Western Railway and the Josephine Railway all could breathe a sigh of relief and relax for the time being. Still, they did feel a little concerned and uncertain if the D.G.S.S.E is really gone for good. There could still be those out there working for Fowler and Roderick, no doubt planning to do something to get back at them...

But for now, they will take the peace for as long as there is.

At the engine sheds of the Josephine Railway, most of the steam engines were getting themselves fired up, all the while with Benjamin and Max running outside and getting the trucks and coaches ready.

"Benjamin. Max." The two diesels look over to see Mr. Franklin and his wife Caitlyn making their way over to see them. "May I have a word with you two?"

"Of course, sir. We were just getting the trucks and coaches ready for the others." Max answered.

"You two are doing such a great job here, and we're very proud of you." Caitlyn said to the two. "However, you will need some assistance over by the docks."

"With all due respect, I'm sure we can handle it on our own." Benjamin spoke up.

"I know you can. But I don't want to run the risk of you two breaking down while on the job. The others are all preoccupied with their work, so I've had to outsource and find another engine." Mr. Franklin now sighs rather begrudgingly. "Unfortunately, the only engine available is a black BR Class 08 shunter from the NWR."

"Are you serious?" The engines all spoke out in unison after hearing that. They know exactly who this diesel is, and what he's down to the engines of Sodor.

"Yes. I know you all aren't too happy about this, but he's the only engine available." Caitlyn spoke softly and gently to the engines to calm them down. "However, we will be keeping him on an extremely short leash."

"Understood, sir." The engines acknowledged back.

"Very good. Now, continue as you are, but be on your guard." Mr. Franklin advised to his engines, then he and Caitlyn left for the former's office.

"I cannot believe it. Of all the engines to outsource, and we end up with the most devious of them all?" Diana muttered.

"I'd rather shove Diesel off a bridge or into a valley just to get rid of him." Max rumbled.

"Everyone." Braedey spoke up, now getting everyone's attention. "We knew this was going to happen, and as much as I was hoping for someone like Boco, Bear, Salty, Mavis, or anyone alike, we'll have to make do with what we have. That's all we can do."

The others reluctantly had to agree with Braedey and his words, since he's dealt with a multitude of diesels like that of Devious Diesel. Still, they know that they will not let that diesel's tricks get the best of them and try to tear them apart. They waited for Diesel to arrive.

By the next day, the rumbling of a diesel engine could be heard approaching the yards at Marion. The others knew exactly who this was, and they sighed mentally as they saw Diesel rolling into the yard with a frown.

"Oh, great. Another railway of steamies." Diesel muttered to himself. "Why can't I be sent away to go to another railway of diesels?" Austin, Belle, Liliana, Jane and the big engines all gave a darkened expression at the BR Class 08.

"You keep that attitude up, you won't last long here." Austin grunted before shunting a flatbed truck roughly behind a freight train.

"Oh, really?" Diesel said mockingly.

"Oi, you. You are to work at the dockyards with Max and Benjamin." A yard foreman stated firmly to Diesel. "No funny business, or you'll be sent back in the hour."

Diesel mumbled to himself before rolling away, the steam engines giving him the darkest of glares as the black shunter diesel rolled away.

"Do you think both Benjamin and Max can handle that big, ugly, and horrid thing?" Diana asked to Braedey.

"If I know one thing Benjamin and Max are good at, it's both being hard workers and sticking to the letter." Austin reassured to the others. "At the same time, I just hope they can handle that hunk of metal's ways."

"Aye." The others agreed in unison, and they head off to work as usual.

Meanwhile, down at the dockyards, Max and Benjamin were both minding their own business as they shunt the trucks to where they're needed, putting the loaded wagons and flatbeds to their proper trains, and taking the time to enjoy themselves.

But as they work about, they could hear an unfamiliar rumble of a diesel engine approaching the yards. The two diesels looked at each other, both of them with a knowing expression on their faces, and they made their way to the nearby junctions. As they looked, both Max and Benjamin can see the familiar BR Class 08 shunter shape rolling into the yards with a grumble.

"Well, looks like we've got trouble." Max commented, he and Benjamin going off back to work.

"Excuse me. I'm looking for whoever is in charge here." Diesel called, as Max and Benjamin roll up on opposite tracks nearby. "Oh, perfect. Two normal diesels..."

"Watch. Your. Tongue." Max grunts, Diesel taken aback by his tone of voice. "With that kind of attitude, you will not last here."

"Oh, sure." Diesel rolled his eyes.

"You're to marshal the trucks and get the trains ready for those who'll be collecting them." Benjamin spoke up to Diesel. "If you're slacking off on the job, Mr. Franklin will be hearing about this."

"Oh, of course." Diesel replied, mockingly sounding hurt at how tough Benjamin was speaking. "Very well."

"Just make sure you know what you're doing." Max said firmly before rolling away.

Throughout the next half-hour, Max and Benjamin have both been working around the docks with sorting the trucks and wagons. However, as they watch Diesel, they both can see the shunter diesel skulking around the yard, purposely putting the trucks in the wrong place just to cause issues for everyone. Benjamin and Max, without Diesel looking, quickly sort things out and without the BR Class 08 even knowing about it. Fortunately, they were done when the others arrived to take their trains and they left with their goods on time. After that, Diesel was stunned to see his plan to try and sabotage the railway had backfired. He attempts to cause more incidents like moving the coaches and trucks into the wrong place, but even after that, Max and Benjamin were able to sort things out and with no issues whatsoever, much to Diesel's frustration. The black shunter diesel attempted again and again to try and cause any disarray around the dockyards, but with Max and Benjamin right there to rectify everything, it was much of a hindrance for Diesel.

Finally, Diesel had enough as he rolled up next to the two diesels, both of them getting their fuel topped up. "Okay, you two. I know you are sabotaging my efforts." He glared at them.

"You mean we're rectifying your attempts at sabotage." Max interjected with a growl of his engine. "We both seen you attempt to cause trouble."

"Aye, and we're not taking any chances with you at all." Benjamin huffed. "If you think you can do better than us instead of being the weasel you are, then prove it."

"I will show you tomorrow." Diesel fumed. "I'll show you that I'm stronger than you all." With that, he rumbled away, Benjamin and Max both heading off to do their work.

During the afternoon around most of the yards around the Josephine Railway, Diesel could be seen lurking about the areas, attempting but failing to cause any mischief or even attempting to sabotage the steam engines. But any time he would try, the engines would simply rectify what he's done and be on their way with their goods or passengers, much to Diesel's frustration. He could see his plans failing before his eyes, much to his frustration, as he skunked away to skulk, leaving the others to do the hard work.

Later that evening down at the sheds, Benjamin and Max were all talking to the other engines about Diesel and what he was doing throughout the day when he arrived at the dockyards. It was utterly annoyed at the fact Diesel was still trying to undermine the efforts of the steam engines.

"That arrogant box on wheels is nothing but trouble." Austin grumbled in frustration.

"On top of being boastful." Diana agreed. She did not like the overconfident and xenophobic diesel generator on wheels any more than the others.

"We can do three times as much work than Diesel can, and all on a single cylinder if we must." Shadow now stated.

"I agree. That buzz-box diesel needs to be taught a lesson, and we need to pay him out for good." Jane declared. "But how do we do that?"

Just then, Benjamin had an idea swirling in his intakes. "Leave that to me, everyone." He smirked deviously, the others all looking to the BR Class 14 in curiosity of what he's got planned.

The next morning, Max and Benjamin rolled into the docks very early to get a head start on the trucks and to be ready when they execute their plan against Diesel. Max and Benjamin handled most of the work set out, while also arranging a train load of coal trucks, oil tankers, and flatbeds, all of them heavily-loaded.

"That one is for Diesel when he arrives." Benjamin said to the dockyard foreman, who nods in understanding over what the two engines were doing.

"So what do you have planned for when Diesel arrives on the scene?" Max asked to Benjamin in curiosity.

"Just wait and see." Benjamin answers with a sly smirk.

Diesel soon arrived on the scene and he began to do his schemes, but Max was able to rectify the tricks, the other engines taking the proper trains. Diesel could see this, and he was getting annoyed by the fact that his plans were failing before his eyes. As Diesel made his way to the goods train the foreman told him to take, Benjamin gave a wink to Max as he rolled ahead, the latter wondering what the BR Class 14 might do. Diesel rolled up to the heavily-loaded train, just as Benjamin buffered up to the back of the train and coupled up to it. Diesel backs down onto the trucks, and began to try and push them backwards. But as he did, his wheels spun uselessly with screeching metal until he stopped. The trucks didn't even move an inch. So, Diesel began to pull forward, pulling hard on the coupling chains, his engine revving loudly as his wheels spin with screeching metal. Unbeknown to him, the coupling between him and the first truck was becoming weaker.

'Just a little more.' Benjamin thought to himself with a smirk on his face. 'A little more...'

"Heave-ho! Heave-ho! You can pull but we won't go!" The trucks now sang out.

Diesel was now more infuriated than ever, clenching his teeth in utter anger. He pulled forward with everything he's got, pulling hard on the coupling chain, his engine revving as his wheels spun with screeching metal. Bye then pulled even harder than before, inadvertently pulling on the weak coupling to its final breaking point. With a crack, the coupling snapped, Diesel shooting forwards as his driver jumped clear. Before anyone could stop him, the shunter diesel rolled right into a set of buffers, smashing through them and falling off the pier, crashing in a huge cloud of smoke and dust!!

Diesel now found himself down in the cargo hold of a cargo freighter. "Grease and oil." He muttered out, and this was followed by a chorus of laughter from the trucks and even the other engines who saw everything.

Braedey: "Now that was worth it!"

Austin: "That's a dish I like to call 'revenge'!"

Jane: "Sucker!"

Diana: "Busted Buckethead!"

Ella: "Arrogant hunk of metal."

Sure enough, Mr. Franklin and Caitlyn arrived on the scene and the former was definitely not happy about what happened and gave a dark glare at Diesel, just as recovery crews were attaching cables to the BR Class 08 shunter in order to get him out of the cargo hold.

"I brought you here to assist my engines, not cause such a ruckus and try to undermine their operations." Mr. Franklin stated firmly, Diesel looking to him with an expression. "Once you are out of that cargo hold, you will be transported back to Sodor and never come back here again." He now looked to Braedey and Shadow. "You two, can you take the train?"

"You got it!/Yes, sir." Shadow and Braedey answer back in unison. With that, the two turn around and buffer up to one another and the goods train. Once done that and were coupled up, the two engines puffed away with little to no issue whatsoever, the trucks giving the two a small push to get them going.

The other engines around the dockyards whistled and cheered, the Star Tugs all blowing their whistles in unison, everyone else soon going to work. Eventually, Diesel was lifted out of the cargo hold of the freighter, now being put down on the pier before being loaded onto a well-wagon.

With the BR Class 08 engine on the first goods train to Barrow-in-Furness to be sent off to Sodor, peace seemed to settle down on the railway. Little does everyone know that something was going to happen to both the N.W.R and the J.R...
