"So you wish to reboot Total Drama Island?"
"It was one of the best seasons, based on the views," a familiar voice responded. The infamous reality show host, Chris McLean, sat across from an executive. "Plus, we need something! Think of the ratings, man!"
"Do you know how many people are tired of reboots?" The executive asked, raising an eyebrow. When Chris didn't respond, the executive took that as a sign. "So you don't?"
"We can try to pass it off as a continuation!" Chris exclaimed. He needed this, after all. Ever since Pahkitew Island, he'd been struggling to get chosen for a host. This was his safest option! "Think about it! It could acknowledge previous seasons while being its own new thing!"
"You just said it would be a reboot," the executive said dryly. "So I'm going to treat it as such. But I'll humor this idea a little. What's the pitch, McLean?"
"Sixteen new contestants on an island that resembles Wawanakwa!" Chris proclaimed. "I was thinking we could bring back elements from the first season, so no radioactive waste and no robotic aspects of the island!"
"You realize the island is not Wawanakwa, correct?"
"We'll just never give out the name of the island. This way, those new to the show won't be able to say the original island sunk!"
"Have you decided on your contestants?" The executive prompted. "A cast makes a season, and some fans are not as keen on the second or third generation."
"I've selected sixteen new contestants already," Chris stated, grinning. "And let me just say, they are going to be fun. Mark my words."
The executive gave a hum, considering Chris's words. The host seemed rather impatient though, tapping his fingers on the desk.
"So, to repeat what you just said, sixteen new contestants on an island similar to Wawanakwa? How dangerous are the challenges?"
"Some are, some aren't," the host replied, trying to get around the subject. "The challenges make the ratings, which make the show! I can't just spoil which challenges would be the most dangerous on the spot!"
The executive had to admit, Chris had a point. The network had been struggling since Pahkitew. But at the same time, the host had been known for his crimes of endangering teenagers, and the question was whether or not they wanted to take that risk with Chris once again...
Outside of the office, Chef Hatchet was waiting for his friend. After about thirty minutes of waiting, which Chef could only assume was back and forth between Chris and the executive, the door finally opened and the host stepped out of the office. "How'd it go?" Chef asked once Chris left the meeting.
With the biggest grin on his face, Chris looked at his co-host and best friend and proudly exclaimed, "Total Drama is back, baby!"
After watching both of the reboot seasons (and reading some fanfic), I felt inspired to throw my hat into the ring with attempting to write a Total Drama OC season. I look forward to getting this show on the road. Stay tuned :)
