This little story was requested by mashmaiden, who wanted twin shenanigans.
"Dada, mo!"
"Ok, 1, 2, 3…liftoff!" Swinging Sophia in his arms, Deeks spun her arid in a series of fast circles. He came to a sudden stop after about 10 seconds, briefly tossing her up in the air before he settled her in the crook of one arm.
"Caya pin!" Caleb demanded, bouncing on his tiptoes as he reached up. Deeks put his free hand on his hip and looked down at the 15-month-old. He started getting worn out about five turns ago, but who was he deny his children? Especially when they gave him pleading little smiles.
"Ok. One more spin, but then that's it," Deeks told Caleb, turning to include Sophia in the statement. She stuffed half her fist in her mouth, letting out a mischievous giggle. "Oh, you two are trouble."
Kensi found Deeks 25 minutes later, laid out on the floor with Sophia and Caleb crawling over his legs and torso. It was a fairly adorable sight.
"Babe, are you ok?"
"Merry-go-round," he responded, lifting his head just enough to eye her. "For half an hour."
"They wore you out, huh?" Kensi asked, sympathetically. She squatted and brushed her fingers through his hair.
"They could give some of our former suspects a run for their money." At that moment, Caleb crawled up his stomach, smacking a hand in the center of his chest. "Thanks."
"Hi mommy," Caleb said, grinning up at Kensi as he continued to play a surprisingly rhythmic beat on Deeks' chest. Not to be outdone Sophia scrambled over to his side.
"Hi sweetie." Kensi grabbed the patting hand and kissed it. Caleb brought his palm to his mouth in his best attempt at blowing a kiss back.
"Dada seep," Caleb informed her in a loud whisper.
"Yeah, he's very tired," Kensi agreed.
"Dada up. Up, up, up!" Sophia shouted, tangling her fingers in Deeks' hair, and tugging with each repetition of the word.
"Ok, how about we give daddy a break? I think he's been a playground for long enough," Kensi suggested, grabbing first Sophia and then Caleb under the armpits and depositing them on the floor next to Deeks.
"Thanks," Deeks sighed, tucking one arm under his head. "I don't know how humans so tiny can cause so much pain. One of these days they're going to be the death of me."
"And you'll love every single moment," Kensi predicted, and Deeks smiled.
"Mm, you may be right."
She leaned down to kiss him, just a soft brush of her lips. "Our baby ninja assassins are lucky to have you."
