Fate Whispered to the warrior 'You cannot withstand the storm' and the warrior whispers back 'I am the storm'...
She re-adjusted the white bandaged around her forearm. An indentation she was who she said she was. Even though she hadn't been touched by the okama. It was still a safety precaution just in case.
She turned towards luffy, the captain of the pirates grinning widely as they slowly came to port. He stuck out his arm – white bandaged on show. One by one the crewmates joined him in a circle. Dawnya stood back, unsure whether she was welcomed or not. "Alright from on, no matter what happens, this thing on our left arm"
Zoro's dark hues made contact with her blue ones, with a tilt and nod on the head he incanted the empty space next to him. The ravenette hesitated a moment before slipping besides the taller swordsman.
"Will be the mark of out fellowship!" Luffy concluded with a determine gleeful grin. Dawnya looked around the circle, taking in there determine carefree faces. Something warm bubbled in her chest. Something not completely foreign but something she may have felt before – the warmth not unpleasant but something she couldn't put a finger on.
"Now then, lets head onshore!" the captain ordered.
She watched with unconceded surprise at the running boy screaming about food. As soon as the ship had safety docked the captain had jumped off and run full peat towards the town. She glanced towards a sighing zoro and screaming nami. "This is normal?" she questioned dully only for usopp to give a small nod.
She followed the rest of the crew off the ship, thought was distracted by the golden sand grains dancing between her toes. Wide eyes she watched the grains dancing as she walked by, the warmth that had grown during the ship ride not leaving.
She hadn't stepped on sand like this before – never being allowed on land without an escort or collar even then never would those with her would never have been caught dead walking on a 'commoner' beach...
Zoro watched the girl with an amused expression, it was like watching an animal discover something for the first time. It just made him more curious about the new tagalong of the crew. He first thought that she took have been a spy for the pirate warlord, but seeming this reaction to sand made him doubt she had anything to do with him or anyone that really travels by ship. Or that she was a really good actor – but he doubted that.
He glanced down towards her feet with a raised eyebrow... isn't that scolding hot? He thought just thinking of the sand warmed by the sweltering sun above them. He could feel the heat radiating though his shoes it was uncomfortable but he couldn't imagine what the girl before him was feeling with bare feet.
"That idiot..." Nami muttered, sweat-dropping before turning towards the rest. "Listen up! Sanji you're going to pick up what we need, the rest of us are going to keep a low profile, we don't want our enemies knowing where we are just yet! Dawnya, please could you keep an eye out for Luffy?"
The quite ravenette nodded, letting her blue hues scan the horizon.
The interesting group slowly made there why into the town, hidden by a crumbling ruin of a building close to the outskirts. "let's go Dawnya-cha~" Sanji grinned having gotten the list from Nami.
"We will get you some shoes as let" Sanji nodded to her feet letting out a drag from his cigarette.
"No thank you... I prefer my feet bare" she was a little hesitate at saying no, but it felt good, not having to do something – to have the ability to say no...
"Hmm, you sure? Are your feet not burning?"
"I'm sure, I don't feel the heat nor the cold really..." she muttered turning her head upwards towards the sky. A bonus from the devil fruit she guessed. "And you don't have to spend money on me - I'm fine in the clothes I have"
"But Vivi said its don't the best for traveling across the dessert" Sanji gave her a thoughtful look, wouldn't most female enjoy getting clothes for free? Nami certainly does.
"I'll be fine trust me" the blonde nodded taking her words but secretly deciding to buy her at least a cloak for the travels.
"Shit marines..." Sanji muttered the lit fag in-between his lips as he eyed the white and blue informed men. He felt Dawnya tense slightly beside but didn't mention anything as the pair continued to walk side them.
Dawnya forced herself to be calm as the pirate and tagalong walked past the marines – there was two of them seeming to be searching for someone – someone called Tashigi. Good it wasn't her.
She refocused her attention to the environment around then. Stalls surrounded them – selling various wares that could be found at the port town. Behind them stood two or three stories building made out of the same white or sandy stone she couldn't name. Eyes flickered across the street, locals and sailors walked by occasionally sending the pair a curious glance before turning away presuming at they were travellers that had just arrived.
The atmosphere was bubbly, cheerful even but she senses a slight distress. Like the cheerful smiles were enough to cover the civil war that was brewing.
"Hey, I'm going to check out this shop" Sanji pointed towards a fabric store, she nodded in response, turning away she kept her eye out for Luffy once again.
Thought her attention was taken away by a woman staring intently at her, or more specifically her sword. Sky blue eyes narrowed, as the air vents in her mask fluttered.
"Is that..." the women stepped closer towards her, letting her spot the katana at the strangers waist, it had a normal looking handle and guard or matching colour with a four-petaled design. The sheath from what she could see from her view look is elaborate, with the first half being a green and bumpy design while the second half is white and smooth.
Now the question was could she use the smaller blade or was it for show.
"You there!" the women called, pointing at Dawnya. "It that the legendary Nodachi, Tobutori?"
"It is my flying bird" she stated in monotone, why was this woman talking to her?
"I'm surprised to see it! My fear it was forever lost"
No, it had been stolen by a pompous bastard that hadn't the ability to use it and left to rush in the arena as no one could lift it...
"Tobutori is picky" she stated, placing a hand on the Nodachi handle, the long blade it its sheath shifted slightly in its position.
"At least it's not in the hands of a criminal! The poor Wado Ichimonji is being tinted by that fiend. It should be in my hand! I will get hold of it from that criminal when I defeat him"
Her eyes narrowed further at the women's comment, though the stranger hadn't mentioned his name she knew she was talking about Zoro. Completely obvious to Dawnya souring mood, the women continued to ramble on.
"The blade is a great blade to have! You should join our ranks in the marines, it will put that sword too good use!"
"Are you finished?" Dawnya stated with a cold voice. As she steeled herself, taking a step font glaring at the women – the warmth from earlier gone. "I would never join the marines. Your organisation is corrupted and bias, I know more corrupted, violent, cruel so-called keepers of the justice that I have pirates. I see more so-called marines kill innocence. Those who were just at the wrong place at the wrong time to even consider thinking about joining that pathic excuse of an organisations." her tone was cold as ice as she took another step towards the now shellshocked women. Dawnya could feel the wind around them begin to pick out slightly, the sandy dancing wildly around her feet. Memories began to surface – cold floors, metal bars and blood... so much blood splattered over the cold damp floor, dipping down the walls. She took a steading breath, hand gripping the handle of her sword tightly as she tried to ground herself from the nightmare.
"The sword chooses the wielder – if Tobutori didn't want me to wield her, I wouldn't be able to lift it – like many great swords they would hinder the would-be wielders instead of aiding. If Wado Ichimoji did not want to be wielded by that 'fiend' she wouldn't. How dare you say it's being tainted, how dare you demand it shall be in your hands" she hissed, the air vents of gas mask fluttered dangerous, as the tension grew between the pair. The women to shellshock to respond. "If you never demand anything of me or my blade again, I will not hesitate."
Dawnya turned snappily on her heels, just as a strong gust of wind stored down the street, sending specks of sand into fearful marine eyes.
"Captain!" a marine ran up to the pale blinky women, "captain you, okay?"
"Yeah..." captain Tashigi muttered, eyes darting about the street of the swordswomen, seeing no sight of the mysterious but scary figure.
Sanji glanced at the tense women besides him.
"You, okay?
"..." she didn't respond, just staring blankly ahead, her eyes dull. Dangerously blank.
"You can talk to us about it if you want?" he probed readjusting the bags in his arms.
"I'm going to go high to look for Luffy" she changed the subject before jumping to the rooftops. Leaving the blonde cook to let out a sigh beforecontinuingon. At least she knew he was there to talk.
