A few weeks later, the middle of November. On the rooftop of an apartment block.
"Ma'am, you were right. It all happened exactly as you said it would, even with the … interruption."
*crackle Then from a small radio a robotic and distorted voice emitted, one that was clearly proud yet also angry. "Of course I was right, it was obvious such a course of events would occur, but even then he still will manage to surprise you."
"I need to know one thing though, if I am to watch over the unexpected piece." A lemur with somewhat unusual features looked through a pair of binoculars at a rabbit with a plaster cast on their left arm. "Why is she important?"
"To my surprise, she was taught by our enemy, thus she has some connection to him. We talk to her and maybe we will find him. If we don't, he may come to us, eventually."
The lemur looked through the binoculars again to watch over the rabbit that he was tasked with. He then saw an otter come out and greet her. "There's an otter, he looks like the scientist for the grey fox."
"Unlikely, probably Doctor Otterton's brother, a florist. He owns the shop that she is entering. Be careful, he could be anywhere."
"I think I can take him on by myself."
"You can't, if you see him do not approach, tell us, we need to confirm his capture... or kill."
"Of course ma'am, I wouldn't want to jeopardise the mission. It would be unwanted and also extremely irresponsible. However, what if I am seen by him, should I not engage then?"
"At that point, you are dead so you might as well try to hurt him as much as you can."
"You seem to know a lot about him, if that's the case what is his name?"
"That is none of your concern, it is my final bargaining chip if it will be necessary. He prides himself on his anonymity, I won't be the one to break it for him." The voice was still seemingly concerned about their target to a degree. "But if you do talk to him, tell him a message for me. Tell him..."
"Ma'am, there's a fox right there, but he isn't who we are looking for. He seems to have a document in his hand." The lemur looked at the fox dressed in jeans and a light jacket. "They seem to be conversing, what do you think it is about?"
"Unimportant. Focus on finding our priority."
"Yes ma'am."
"You know, I don't appreciate it when other's watch over my comrades." A new voice spoke, not from the radio. The lemur turned around to see a mostly red fox with brown stripes going from his eyes, around his muzzle and down his neck. The lemur panicked for a second. He then gripped his radio and instantly tried to call. However, before he could, he was grabbed by the throat and then raised up. "Were you looking for me? Well, here I am." He then slightly closed his paw, choking the lemur. "Well, what are you here for though, because you see, I don't know you, yet I know everyone in the city." He then held the damned lemur over the edge of the roof. "Don't worry, it was a suicide." He smiled at the lemur before letting go. The lemur screamed before crashing at the bottom and becoming a red paste. "What an end."
He turned back to the radio and picked it up. "So do I know you or will I find out when I beat the name out of you? And don't worry he had a nice trip down."
"Hello Nick, long time since we last spoke. I was really impressed with what you have done. You got a mob boss to give up his greatest asset, you trained a wannabe cop and a wannabe ninja, you even killed the Boardozer, breaking through his almost unbreakable armour. You even got two of the most... how do I put this... uniquely impressive... ZIA agents to help those they were meant to take down, even if it was a little... underwhelming, how you did it. Don't worry, I have also improved and when we see each other again, I will not be so merciful as the last time we spoke."
"Oooh, ominous, you know some stuff, don't worry, I heard there is a special place in hell, specifically for you."
"Then you can keep it warm for me."
"Well, this will be interesting." The fox commented before throwing the radio away, breaking it. "Til next we meet."
A/N: I know much shorter chapter but this is just to have a quick recap of what has happened so far so if you forgot, you don't have to reread it, also it is to introduce the new 'main bad' of the story, even though there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. That is all I will say.
Also just really wanted to say thanks to every one who has read and stuck with this story, I really appreciate that.
Other than that, I am back, I have written this before going on holiday but uploaded it after.
And with that, thanks for reading and welcome to the next arc. The shadow arc.
